Not sure if that was the right way to title this thread, but it came to mind when I happened across a YouTube video about Inhumanoids (show and Toyline). I remember having one toy from that line (although I did watch the show), and liked the toy - but just didn't end up getting others for one reason or another. It made me realize I had a few lines like that. It may have been gifts, or just a certain toy caught my eye, but it seemed like outside of Star Wars, GI Joe, and He-Man....it was tough to give much attention to other lines. I guess this could apply to current collecting as well, but I was thinking of childhood I guess. Here are some of mine, off the top of my head:

Inhumanoids (one if the Earth Corps "good guys", the blue one with neon green, I'd have to look up the name again) Dr. Derek Bright

Centurions (Green suit, black haired guy - again, I'd have to research the name)

Thundercats (Panthro, although I always wanted more)

Black star (John Blackstar, I actually remember getting this at TRU. Was looking for He-Man, settled for this. Really liked the toy though and his glow in the dark sword)

Rock Lords (a gold one, Nugget I think?)

Silverhawks (Steelwill and Buzz Saw, wanted more of these too)

Battle Beasts (had a deer one and a white lion I believe? Cool toys)

I'll add any others if I think of them (and look up some of those names) Kind of wish I still had these, but they may just be lost at my parents' house.

I know many (most?) of us haven't seen much past Wave 1 this year, but with the return of the Vintage Collection this year, what was your favorite (s) of the year? I got lucky and found waves two and three around the time where we got reports of them popping up in Wal-Mart. I've never seen them there or anywhere else since then. Although we had a lot of repacks, I think the new we got was pretty great.

Best Regular Release: Range Trooper

Best Exclusive: Mimban Stormtrooper

Best Repackaged Figure: Hoth Rebel Soldier (any time we can get one of the OT figures out in that original card, that's great in my book)

I don't know that any of the new figures were bad at all, and I'm really looking forward to what is on the way in 2019!

It is one of those never-ending battles for many collectors I think, how to display all of this stuff. You start with just a shelf, then the years go by and you keep outgrowing and outgrowing your spaces until a decision has to be made.

I've come to that crossroads myself, or have been dancing with it for awhile now. I recently completed a nearly lifelong goal of mine by getting a loose collection of the initial run of vintage Star Wars figures (the first 77 anyway). Now that I have them, I would really like to put them on display. Problem is, no room. I've been going through the process for a few years now of both packing things away and selling things off because I simply don't have room for it all (and no end in sight). I'm also one of those weak collectors who has branched off into things like Marvel, DC, GI Joe, He-Man, Indiana Jones, etc., so that doesn't help anything.

I've always been the type of person where if I like it enough to collect it, I want it displayed instead of packed away. I've come to the realization that something (or things) have to move out. I am allowed one room essentially, our office, and I don't like things to look overly cluttered so space is at a premium.

Anyways I was wondering how you manage things. Do you display most of it, some of it, or none of it? Do you display both vintage and modern toys? (I've since fallen down the rabbit hole of vinty Joes as well) Do you just keep a selection of your favorites out or maybe rotate things? After so many years of collecting Star Wars (without an end in sight), it seems like a problem we all deal with at some point. Thank you for any insight and advice.

Seems like finds have been a little spotty according to the reports I've seen so far. I went to two Targets this morning, about mid morning, and had decent luck but there were some things I didn't see at all.

First Target had an end cap display, and nothing new in the aisle except for a Black Series Han that has been there since last weekend. They had some of the basic figures (picked up Qi'Ra, Chewie, and Range Trooper), one set of TVC (grabbed Snoke, Hoth Trooper, and Rey), and some Funko (grabbed Lando and the Target exclusive Han). They had a couple LEGO sets (bad guy speeder and TIE), but that was it so far. No two packs, vehicles of any size, or beast/deluxe packs.

My second Target stop (which we call the "little" Target), had no end cap but the aisle was fully stocked. They had most everything: basic figs, starter pack w/Han, both sized Falcons, two packs, deluxe beast packs, Han's speeder, etc. They also had a lone Black Series Dewback. They also had a full set of TVC, black series (no Tarkin or Lando), and the misc. nerf and Hot Wheels stuff. Also some LEGO.

As far as what I didn't see at all:

Maz Kanata (basic line)
Wampa with Luke Skywalker
Chewbacca (Black Series Target Exclusive)
Grand Moff Tarkin (Black Series)
Any Black Series past the initial wave
LEGO Kessel Run Falcon
LEGO  Han Speeder

All in all I'm happy with my finds. I was really hoping to find that Black Series Chewie, but maybe he isn't out yet. I do sort of want the new Falcon toy, just because I like all things Falcon, but looking at it I just didn't want to spend $100 on it. I also sort of wanted to get the LEGO Falcon, but that should be no problem to pick up later. Biggest disappointment I think is not finding the Wampa set, honestly 🙂.  Also, it has been mentioned before, but it really is weird there is no Han in the basic assortment. At the first Target I was at (with the end cap), they didn't carry the Falcon, speeder, or starter pack yet, so you literally couldn't but a Han Solo figure from the Solo movie.

Apologies if this topic exists here somewhere, I didn't see it on a quick glance. I was just curious if anyone had specific recommendations for figure stands for vintage figures. I am finally getting close to my long delayed goal of having a complete loose run from Star Wars to ROTJ (hopefully the POTF stuff someday), and have started thinking about display. Anyways, I know there are plenty of options out there, but I just thought I'd check to see if any were better than the rest. I've seen lots of the plain circular stands in eBay, and also some rectangular ones with the Kenner logo as well. It may not make any difference, but I was wondering if some were a better fit than others.

I was watching Retroblasting's most recent live stream on YouTube this week where the topic was the future of Joe. Fun stuff, but it did make me wonder if there was much future for the line. One of the greats of my childhood, especially with all the amazing vehicles, etc. included. Honestly, I felt fairly complete with modern figures, just because of the all around great 25th (and compatible) lines. I guess I thought eventually we would get a 6" Black Series styled line at some point, which I think was rumored at some point (Jeff's post on the forums I believe). Maybe we will see something if the whole Haslab model takes off.

As I've been going through my collection this year, parting with some of it and reorganizing some of it, it has made me a little nostalgic. I started going back through some of the older threads here and reliving the discussions and excitement as some lines were being released. Obviously, lots of Star Wars, but also the beginnings of the GI Joe 25th line, MOTU Classics, Marvel Legends, etc. Also, as a side note, how great was 2007 for collecting? The 30th Anniversary Collection for Star Wars (with McQuarrie figures), and the beginnings of the GI Joe 25th line!

Anyways, what are some of your favorite toy lines of all time? Childhood (since that is often where it starts) or all the way up to today.  Here's a few off the top of my head:
