Title: Should Hasbro re-release the Eopie?
Post by: CHEWIE on May 27, 2003, 02:58 AM
If so, how should they do it?

With the same Qui Gon?

With a Padme and Anakin riding it?

With an all new Alien rider?

As a Deluxe like the Nexu?

Who wants one?

 :P

I'd buy another Eopie with Kitster as a pack in

If you are going to rerelease something make it worth my while :)

I'm all for a re-release (wouldn't there really have to be an original release to consider it a re-release?)   ..... Oh yeah, I forgot, they were released.... just like the 2nd wave of the Cantina sets.

I would like to see this re-released. I have one that I got overseas. I would have liked to get some more for displays and stuff. If Hasbro were to re-release this set, I would change the packin to Kitster and Shmi.

Yeah, I'd buy it again with a new pack-in.

I'm all for it. Pack-in or not.

It was scarce enough that it would definitely help a lot of people if it was reissued.  Why not?

I'd like to see it re-released, because I never got a chance to buy one of these when they were in stores.

Kitster would be a great pack-in, I never thought of that.  Good idea OCB!

Adding Shmi too with the ability to straddle this fugly beast would be very cool.

Maybe later down the road they could add Anakin and Padme too as a variant.  Freaks like myself would purchase it. ;)

The Mother of a Sith Lord does not straddle. She rides side saddle.

I'm sure there are enough collectors still missing the original Eopie with Qui-Gon to warrant a straight reissue. Hasbro would probably want to update the packaging though, which would make investors happier and MIMB completists cringe.

I'd pick up 1 or 2 depending on cost and availability...  They seemed like a plentiful beast on Tatooine so they'd be great for any Tat. diorama I believe.

A packaging change wouldn't bother me at all since I open them, but I could see carded/boxed guys going nuts over that.

I'd prefer just a basic re-release of it myself, except the packaging change...  No new figures.  Just the original QGJ.

...and they should include the three bonus Pit Droids while they're at it.

This has always been one of my most wanted re-releases (next to Trophy Swimming Obi Wan, who wasn't actually released at all I guess...).  The Eopie seems prime for one of the TRU 4 packs.  I don't know what the theme would be, perhaps the Pod Race, or Queen's Ship.  Then he could come with engine parts and so forth.

Spuffy arrives in style!  ;D

Id buy a rerelease as well. I think Hasbro owes us this one since so many don't have one.

I know that there are so many petitions out there, but I think that we should have a petition for it's re-release...(I am not saying I should be in charge)...but I definitely think that we have something that we could do!!!  If they were priced right I would buy 2!!!

Yes, a petition.  This is something Hasbro could throw in one of these new TRU 4 packs.

Hmmm... that is an awesome idea Spuffy on including the Eopie in a TRU 4-pk.  I really like that.  How's this for an idea; I bet it would sell extremely well...

FIGURES

- Graxol
- red Twilek
- Chok, repainted Barada w/ new head
- Ishi Tib head/hands on POTJ Plo Koon body

ACCESSORIES

- Eopie
- large Podrace flag
- Pit Droid from European bonus pks
- refueling equipment

That would be awesome, Chewie.  I was trying to think of a 'theme' myself, but couldn't.  They could maybe also squeeze in some of the missing engine parts from that long lost E1 Queen's Starship accessory pack, remember?

wasn't there a 'hyperdrive' in one of the later accessory packs?

Most definitely.  I say that Hasbro should re-release anything that didn't ever find it's way to the majority of the collectors that wanted it.

I was lucky enough to have a buddy find me a MIMSB U.S. version of the Eopie in a small toy shop in Japan when he was out there for a business trip about 5 or 6 months ago.  The best part was that it was only $14!!!   :o  (when it was going on eBay for generally $100-$125).  Still owe Jared a HUGE thanks for that incredible score!   8)

As for what a re-release might come with...  Hmm...  I might be inclined to say just the original Qui-Gonn for the figure completists that would still want this version of him (even though it's very similar to the POTJ figure).  But I agree that the better idea would be to throw it in one of the TRU 4-packs, with the same Qui-Gonn, a Shmi, Kitster, Hyperdrive, and some other random figure...  I definitely pick up a couple of those.

All by it's lonesome on a Deluxe card would certainly work just fine as well!   8)

If Hasbro wanted to do a Pod Race Hanger type of set, they could probably kit bash a Nikto Pod Mechanic, or an Ishi Tib one, a Twilek massuess, something like that.   ;D
