So a bit of a funny tale to tell. I found Chewbacca and Tarful at a Wal-Mart yesterday, and as expected when I went to the register (in the auto section) it came up as "Cannot sell". Well the girl didn't really care (and that's always the best thing to do in cases like this, find someone who doesn't care) and asked me how much they were. Well I fibbed a bit and said $3.77, sounded like a reasonable Wal-Mart price and she rang both of them up as such. Had I known better I woulda said less.
Well later on in the evening, I was at another Wal-Mart and found some more figures, this time both versions of Anakin and Obi-Wan (note: the V1 figs suck ass, but the V2 figs are pretty good, so I would suggest the V2 figures if you have to choose), V2 Yoda, and Vader. I figured I'd try the same thing again, grab the ones I want the V2 figs and Vader and goto the registers looking for a cashier who is likely not to care. You can tell which cashier may not care either because they're a kid or just look really tired and could care less about their job. So I find one, get to the register and the same thing happens when she scans the figs, "Cannot Sell" This time though, this girl decided to call someone over. Well this someone then tries to explain to me that the message means the toys have been recalled, which I just said they weren't. But she goes on to say that they MUST obey the message, to which I reply with well they were on the shelf ya know. But she doesn't give in and not needing to make a fuss, I just left, there loss though on a sale. Of course it all boils down to one hand of walmart not knowing what the other is doing, but I found it amusing. The moral of the story, when you find ROTS figs early, your mileage may vary when trying to buy them, but don't be afraid to try.
Also scored the Droid Tri-Fighter at Target with no problems, in fact they had the price tab on the shelf for the vehicles.
