I know it may be a long shot, but I was wondering if any one here may have an extra copy of the Solo figure variant to Star Wars 2, or know of one available. I was hoping to keep up a set of these but unfortunately missed the earlier ones and in specific my favorite Han Solo. eBay prices look to be crazy so I thought I'd check here. Thanks for any help.

Star Wars Action Figures / Custom TFA Luke Skywalker Action Figure
« on: September 2, 2015, 12:22 PM »
Saw this a few days ago, but hadn't seen it here yet.  Not sure if it is legit or not, but could be a possible look at a Force Awakens Luke Skywalker in this line:

The Force Awakens / Force Friday: What are You Buying?
« on: August 21, 2015, 10:57 AM »
After looking through all the pics and info over the past couple weeks, I've been trying to come up with a game plan for Force Friday (or that weekend, or whenever you get out to shop).  I've sold stuff/set aside money in anticipation, and hope to stick to a budget and not go too crazy.  I know that reactions to the stuff have been mixed, so I was curious what everyone hopes to pick up from this line?  For me, I think its looking like this:

Basic Figures - One of each of the new characters, likely passing on stuff we've seen before (Bespin Luke, Vader, etc.)  Same goes for the armor up figures, might get the Chewie and Poe.

Vehicles - I'd like to get the new Falcon, I dig the X-Wing and TIE as well.  Not sure if I'll get all three right off the bat, but eventually.  The smaller vehicles will be case by case, definitely want Rey's speeder though.

Black Series - All of these please, aside from the ginormous TIE.  Still undecided on that one.

Aside from that, I'll have to wait and see if we get anymore that wasn't listed in recent pictures.  I'll likely continue to get all "new" characters from the Force Awakens, and hold out hope for a more SA line eventually too.  Also, for some reason I sort of want that NERF Chewie bowcaster.  I'll be looking at the LEGOs as well, but that's a whole other thread :).

Modern Classifieds / For Sale: Carded Vintage Collection Figures
« on: July 21, 2015, 04:31 PM »
Going through the collection this summer and I've got some things to sell if anyone is interested.  First up is a batch of carded vintage collection figures from a time when I thought I was going to try to have a complete carded set of these (I later stuck to only OT).  Price is $7 each (not including shipping) and if you are only interested in the figure I can sure open them as well.  If you decide you want the entire lot, I'll take care of the shipping costs.  Otherwise, shipping is not included in the prices listed and is based on weight.  PayPal is preferred. I should be listing more stuff soon, and hope to add pictures.  If interested, please contact me via PM.  Check me out in the feedback thread here: http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?board=24;action=display;threadid=1891  Thanks for looking!

Power of the Force 2 / 20th Anniversary of POTF2
« on: January 16, 2015, 09:08 PM »
Man, it is hard to believe, but this year marks the 20th anniversary of the original "return" of Star Wars figures to the toy aisles.  Although many of those figures look ridiculous these days, it really was a cool time in SW collecting I think.  I wasn't really "in" on these from the beginning, but came in later on and then backtracked picking some of them up.  Although some of the He-Man like sculpts were kind of extreme, I remember - at the time - thinking figures like the Boba Fett were amazing, just comparing detail to the vintage line.  I didn't know anything about "collecting" toys then, and hadn't paid that much attention since my childhood for the most part, but that was the start of things that continues to this day.  There are times when I like to look back on the releases for each year in the POTF2 days, and think how much fun it must have been for those of you who bought in from the beginning - awaiting each new version of our favorite characters, not to mention all of the vehicle, beasts, and other things that were hitting at that time.

Other Toy Lines / Pixar Toys
« on: November 12, 2014, 01:10 PM »
Has anyone here seen the new "collector" line of Pixar toys?  I've only seen them at Toys R Us, although I'm not sure if they are exclusive or not.  Aside from the regular Toy Story stuff they normally have, they've had a new line of 6" scale figures (as well as some smaller stuff) that I haven't seen before.  I picked up the Mr. Incredible last week, and have to say it isn't too bad.  The pricepoint ($20) while average for that size does seem a little steep, but a coupon I had made it more bearable.  I've only seen that figure, as well as Wall-E and Eve from that movie, and the back of the box shows Syndrome and a couple of Nemo figures as well.  Just curious if anyone here had seen these, or was interested in them.  I can't speak for the entire line, but the Mr. Incredible figure isn't too bad, glad I picked it up.  Not sure if I'll be getting any others, can't really afford another line, but would be tempted for the rest of the Incredibles if they get there.  As cool as a Pixar shelf might look, I don't think I could afford that at $20 (in addition to Star Wars, Marvel, and some LEGO).

Looks like this is happening, very similar to Star Wars, blown up versions of the vintage figures:

Not necessarily "Black Series" per se, but thought this was the most relevant place to post this.  With a sort of slow time this year and last, have you given any thought to what your collecting might look like once Episode VII hits theaters (and beyond)?  It looks like, if Disney's plans hold, that we'll be having yearly Star Wars movies - and likely yearly toy lines as well.  Will you collect it, pick and choose, wait and see?

Our family has been going through a whole house condensing/cleanout this summer - and I've been spending a lot of time on the office (which is also the collection room) and also going through storage tubs.  What I've realized is - news flash - I have a lot of crap :).  The display areas in our office are already pretty full (primarily Star Wars and Marvel stuff, with some Joes, LEGO, LOTR, Indy, MOTU, and DC), not to mention all the tubs just sitting in our garage, full of toys.  It makes me realize, not only do I need to sell off/donate some of this stuff, but I really need to re-assess as we look forward to this onslaught of new movies and merchandise.

Star Wars has always been my primary collecting focus, and hitting the toy aisles and visiting forums like this is what led me to collecting other lines as well.  I know, barring a huge change to the scale/look of the line, I'll be on board for the toys for these new movies - particularly the "main trilogy" - at least to some extent.  Knowing that, I know that I need to cut back in other areas.  Some collections (Joes, LOTR, DC, MOTU, Indy) are pretty much complete, I just like having them displayed.  Marvel is something I've really gotten into though, and the movies there don't show any signs of slowing down either.  I've gotten much more selective in what I buy, skipping a lot of figures in the SW line over the past couple of years simply because they didn't excite me, and I'll continue that.

Anyways, back on the original topic - do you plan to collect the stuff from these new movies, or are you taking a wait and see approach?  I know I'll at least buy some things, but I will take a wait and see to know what the spinoffs and of that are all about.  Plus, I need to figure out a place for this stuff to go before I buy anything.  I'm at capacity now, and not someone who likes to collect just to put in storage, so I've got some decisions to make in the next year plus.

Star Wars Rebels / Star Wars Hero Series Millennium Falcon
« on: June 19, 2014, 04:49 PM »
Yoda's news has the exclusive info here, sounds like it is coming to Wal-Mart this fall, is supposed to be 2 feet long, and is very similar to the X-Wing we've already seen (no figure compatability, etc.)

Joe Defender / G.I. Joe Community Episode
« on: April 3, 2014, 08:50 PM »
I posted this in the television thread here as well, but thought I'd bring it to the attention to any Joe fans over here as well.  I don't know how many people watch Community (NBC), but tonight they did an entire episode in the style of '80s G.I. Joe (complete with vintage-style toy commercials and a PSA at the end).  It was pretty cool, and I don't know that you necessarily even need to regularly watch the show to enjoy it as a Joe fan.  If you have the opportunity to catch it On Demand, or on iTunes, Hulu, etc., I'd highly recommend it.

The Black Series 3.75" / Is 2014 the "Last Hurrah"?
« on: January 8, 2014, 08:54 PM »
Not for Star Wars figures, as I'm sure those will continue on in some capacity for many years to come with all the Disney produced SW movies on the way.  But, after reading Jeff's post in another thread here mentioning how now that we have new SW movies planned every year between the new trilogy and "one off" movies, much to all of the focus of the toys will likely be on the new movies.  Does that mean that 2014 might be the last chance to get figures from the OT or PT, or at the very least, anything more obscure?

I know in the past we've seen in movie years the vast majority of the figure line is dedicated to the new movie, sometimes with a few past figures sprinkled in.  Plus, the line has changed some in that now we have a "collector" 6" line which may continue to sneak out at least OT characters - but what about the 3 3/4" line?  Since Episode VII is not scheduled for release until Christmas time, we actually have this year and probably the first half of 2015 before the movie onslaught begins.  I do wonder if this is our last chance - at least for the foreseeable future - to get a lot of those collector-focused figures, and maybe to get anything from the other trilogies at all.

A lot of this depends on if Disney can keep to their schedule of a movie per year, but even if they only managed a movie every other year it would still keep things pretty new-movie (or animated series) focused.  I'm still wondering how much we'll see this year.  That great Dagobah Luke wave was previewed at NYCC, but we still haven't seen preorders go up online that I know of, so it may be a little off yet.  Plus, I'm sure we'll start to see more and more Hasbro resources pointed towards the new movie the closer it gets.  Anyways, not saying that stuff for the new movie(s) won't be cool, but just wondering if the next year to year and a half might be the last blast for the OT stuff (and PT/CW as well).

The Bullpen / Avengers Infinite
« on: December 27, 2013, 08:52 PM »
Didn't see it posted yet, but it looks like we finally know a little bit more about the post-MU 3 3/4" line.  Dan Curto had posted this scan from Previews magazine:

http://marvelousnews.com/index.php?catid=252&itemid=16827

It shows the first wave of what is being called the "Avengers Infinite" series, at least according to this information (although it seems confusing as the "Infinite" title is being used to describe the Legends lines for both Cap and Spidey as well.  Here's the lineup:

Captain America
Iron Man
"Platinum" Wasp
"Platinum" Hyperion
"Platinum" Hulk
"Platinum" Grim Reaper

Not sure what platinum means, aside from the figures pictured are all new ones while the non "platinum" ones (Cap and IM) seem to be repacks.
