I really like it as well.  I am hoping the knees are articulated.  I cannot tell for sure.  Either way I will get it.  Glad Hasbro made it.

So happy that we're getting this figure, one of my favorite new characters from the toon (even if he was short-lived).  I keep thinking I'm going to cut back (or cut out) this line, but it keeps dragging me back in :).

There was Ackbar, The Emperor, Nien Nunb and Anakin Skywalker for ROTJ.

Wow - there were 4 mail aways back in the day?  I only remember the Emperor - and his cane that I kept loosing all the time.

Nice vinty nod though.   :)

Lucasfilm screwed up.  It's been rewritten since, but the title was Revenge of the Jedi, but Lucasfilm was flooded with mail saying that Jedi don't take revenge.  Therefore it was changed, after the marketing started.  Lucasfilm spun it so that it seemed that it was always their intention to have it be "Return."

Yeah, I watched EMPIRE OF DREAMS recently and the whole REVENGE issue came up, and how it was the working title until shortly before the film came out.

Going off-topic for a second, but that's one of the key things that bugs the living **** out of me concerning the SW films: Lucas and LFL's insistence that everything was always intended to be exactly the way it turned out, and that stories to the contrary are just rumors and fan-created legend.  Between the whole "there were never going to be 9 episodes, only 6 episodes" mantra, and the "I had this all planned out from the beginning" nonsense, I sometimes wonder if ol' George hasn't gone senile a little early.  I guess when you have an army of "yes-men" surrounding you, it's easy to lose touch with reality.

In the new "Art of the Clone Wars" book, Lucas claims in the Foreword that he always had intended the Clone Wars to be between Jedi/Clones and an army of Battle Droids.

In honor of George Lucas, I'm henceforth claiming that I always planned for my life to be a series of catastrophic emotional failures, and that any claims to the contrary are fanboy delusion. :)

Looks like a good figure - would look great next to Kit Fisto or fighting Grievous. Doesn't look like it has articulated ankles and knees, though. Maybe Hasbro can inlclude a fold out 3-D display like they did with the Captain Rex promotional figure!

Yeah, he's the best they've done so far I think.  He's definitely the most cartoony, so maybe that's why.  I mind less and less the 'unrealistic' quality of some of these and like them for what they are.

thats funny because I almost feel the exact oppostie - maybe it is because he doesn't have a realistic counterpart.  I don't collect CW figures (I have only bought Bane), but this guy would be a welcome addition to my collection.

I do agree with the other posters - I think that this might be the best CW fig made.

The figure looks great - I cant wait to order one.  I'm glad they gave him knees as well - and lets face it, this will be his only figure, so there wont be an upgraded resculpt down the road, like there has been with other Jedi that lacked knee articulation on their first run.

He's definitely a nice looking figure.

I got the Kenobi that came with the Freeco Speeder recently and while I don't collect the figures ( I wanted the speeder only), he's a really nice figure.  Far better than the basic one now that he's got more articulation and softgoods skirt.  Weird figure to put in the Freeco since it's even decoed like it's been in snow and stuff (frost on the screen), but a really nice figure.  I'm debating now what to do with mine, haha.  May try my hands at a realistic CW Kenobi with it.

I was wondering what's up with that frosty 'windshield' until I found this picture:

I stumbled across it by accident. As it shows, the Freeco speeder was also used on Orto Plutona, which was a snow planet. So I guess the frosted screen thingy can be justified (although it's not shown in the picture).
Title: Re: 2010 Clone Wars Mail-Away - Nahdar Vebb
Post by: Jesse James on November 19, 2009, 11:06 PM
Yeah I wasn't debating why the Freeco's decoed as it is, as it's only been in that one episode, and that featured a planet covered in ice/snow so it made sense.  What I'm saying the Kenobi is what doesn't make sense since he's not snow-deco at all.  He's just an update of the original Kenobi figure.

It's also interesting to see that the speeder's not entirely accurately sculpted to it's TV counterpart.  It's close, but not quite.

Wow...Thanks for posting that pic Jabba.  I've had my Freeco sitting in front of my monitor here for a week or two and it still looks pretty lame as I originally thought, but that CW pic makes it looks awesome for some reason....Not sure what happend there unless my eyes are playing tricks on me, but hey...I'm happy with Obi from the set at least.

Anywho...bring on Vebb!

I rather like the Freeco speeder, enough that I picked up two.  To me, its an interesting variation on the bike concept with the enclosed cockpit and all.  From what I've seen, the ammount of "frost" on the windscreen varies.  Some are pretty much clear and others are near solid white.

I like it too...  No beefs from me on the minor details missing between the two and it's nicely scaled.  Tough to fit some figures into one, but I managed to get an SA Clone in and he looks nice.

I would've liked two for the Aldi's price I got mine at, but as it stands I'll be content with the one I have.

So just for kicks I submitted a Best Offer on the carded Vebb currently on eBay. The seller is US, so I'm less skeptical than I might normally be trying to snag something this far in advance. The Buy It Now price was $37.99, which is totally absurd, but I'm curious how much less he would actually be willing to take. I don't expect he'll bite on my price, but it never hurts to try.

What do you know, I actually won the carded Vebb with my Best Offer. I should have that bad boy in hand by next week...WOOT!

I'm sure I'll still send away for the free one next year, but in the meantime I finally have a new TCW figure to drool over!

Happy Hannukah!!!

So Nahdar Vebb showed up in the mail yesterday, complete with a nice Hasbro cardboard slipcase to protect the carded figure inside. He looks every bit as great as I'd hoped. I don't see myself opening this one but I definitely plan to pick up another with the POP's next year for opening purposes.

Looks like this will be it for new toy purchases in 2009...great way to close out the year though.

Not that I am complaining - I am programmed by now to accept it, but Hasbro knows how to collect from their collectors.

Buy 5 figures + $6.99 shipping to get one exclusive figure
or
buy 1 role play toy and get 3 random figures shipped to your house for free  **edit:  just realized this is where Hasbro is probably dumping all the Saese and Plo's that were pulled.  I would expect 2 out of the 3 you get to be them - and then H may sneak in a Yarna for kicks    :P

But most of us would be buying 5 figures anyway.  Especially if we are even interested in Nahdar Vebb.  If you are wanting Vebb most likely you can probably think of 5 other figures you want over to over course of the promotional offer.  In the end you are paying for Vebb anyway with the $6.99 check.  Oh well.  I think it's fun to get a figure in the mail every now and then.  It brings me back to the Kenner days as a wee lad back when I walked to school in the snow and......

I recently saw some more carded and loose pictures. I'm very impressed w/ Hasbro's effort in this mail-away. I'm just reeeally hoping that they don't choose to include Nahdarr in a 2010/2011 TCW wave. The 2008 mail-away clean-armored Rex was really something special - until Hasbro decided to sell him clean-armored over the original dirty-armored version as part of Wave 1 way back yonder.

I was just sent a loose one.  I'm not sure from where it originated because it came with some other unrelated goodies.

It's pretty swell.  The knee joints were a surprise, and the ball-jointed wrists are pretty much perfect. Oh, and he can sit. The plastic is bendable enough.  I hope Hasbro puts this one out at retail eventually, I think kids may enjoy it.  If this is what 2010's figures are going to play like, we're in for a fantastic year.

My four payments were cashed at the beginning of this week.

I'm really looking forward to getting this figure - it's great to hear that they took the extra steps to make this Jedi more than just a "statue" figure like some of the other Jedi releases have been (like Kit Fisto).

Hey Speedy McFastrush, you forgot to tell the people here that the figure has a new type of shoulder joint, with a ball that goes into the shoulder and rotates in addition to the joint where the arm can go in or out.  So it's like an extra joint, almost, allowing for additional arm movement.

It might be hard to illustrate, but I'll probably do him up for FOTD next week and see if I can.  It's subtle enough where it might not read easily, but it makes a nice  bit of difference in person.

Nice pics, and I hope to send in for one this week.  I haven't yet because I jus tdon't buy enough figures from CW3D, but I did print out a form, so I'm on my way to getting one now.

I'm pondering ordering two though, so I can custom one to a realistic Vebb maybe.  Keep the head/hands perhaps for a youthful appearance, and maybe change the legs and arms or something?

That's a great mail-away figure though, kudos for the offer.

I got this figure a couple of months ago. They were selling him through a shop called Argos in the UK. I ended up buying an animated Kit Fisto  to go with him but I think he can blend in alright with the realistic figures, especially if you throw a cloak on him.

It seems like they're trying some new articulation out on some of these animated figures. I haven't seen one in person, but I hear the IG droid has some kind of moving pincers and the sliding head on the new Rex is another example. Do you think any of these new techniques will make it into the realistic line?

I'm very, VERY surprised at how fast this offer is gonna expire - June 30th! It's already April (!), and the Qui-Gon and Eopie offer started in August and ended March 31st - which was a pretty lengthy run.

I understand that the Nahdarr stickers started appearing in 2010 Wave 1, but those cases/waves didn't appear until February in most places. And for some people (like me :(), those cases have yet to appear!

I thought it was short but with the announcement of another offer coming this Fall, along with the Fett offer, it's not really a bad idea.

I've seen the wave of figures with the stickers, and order forms, at a couple of stores now but haven't bought any.  I used the printed form from the HTS.com website to order mine.  The offer may have a short window but Hasbro didn't really try to hide the offer or make it difficult to send for.  Hell, they gave us 7 months to send for the Qui-Gon/Eopie figs and I still saw some posts today that people put it off and didn't make the deadline.

The longer the offer, the longer you have to put it off.

Got my first two yesterday. I'm sure my follow-on three which I sent away for a week or so later will be coming shortly as well...

I haven't had a chance to open one of them up yet, but I can tell he is a very cool figure.

Mine showed up yesterday and I was so excited.  As you can tell from my avatar I love Mon Calamari so a Jedi one made me super excited.  I also have a display shelf of characters with lightsabers but now I can't decide if I want to open this one or not.  :-\

Got the remaining three that I sent away for, this allowed me to pick and choose the two I was going to save for the MOC collection.

One came where the box had been crushed so badly the bubble had cracked - so that's the one I decided to open.

The figure itself is fantastic. I would love it if they started to employ this type of shoulder joint more. Since the arm plugs into the shoulder as a true ball-socket, I have to wonder if this is something Hasbro is interested in trying to help them further build a catalog of parts that could be easily mixed and matched on their own side.

If you think about it - if the size of the head ball, the shoulder sockets and hip sockets all became standardized for humanoid figures like Jedi, Clones, etc... mixing and matching parts would be as simple as plugging the desired arms, legs and head into/onto the selected torso.

When I first saw a picture of this figure, I honestly thought it was going to be a statue like Kit Fisto - I am so glad they are updating Firsto and Plo Koon 'cause quite frankly their basic CW figures sucked and are really nothing more than statues with articulated arms.

Yesterday I received the first two that I sent for and opened one of them.  Very excellent figure.  I'm really surprised Hasbro went so far with the articulation on this one after saying they would't do this figure at first.  It's one of the nicest CW figures up to this point IMO.

I have another one on order but I'll probably put in an order for a couple more before the offer ends.

I need info! - for this Nahdarr mail-away, can you submit the inserts within the plastic bubble, or do you have to cut out the assortment number at the top of the card, nearest the hook?

Usually I simply mail away those inserts, but this certificate has me confused. ???
Title: Re: 2010 Clone Wars Mail-Away - Nahdar Vebb
Post by: Pete_Fett on May 4, 2010, 07:40 PM
You need to include the barcode from the bottom of the cardboard insert that is inside the bubble. I suppose you could mail the entire insert, but I just cut out the bar code and sent just barcodes in with my check and certificate.

I hope that helps.

It's been almost a month now since they cashed my check, still no sign of my Vebb. That's pretty lame. I've worked at Fulfillment centers before, and if we let an order sit that long we'd never hear the end of it. Just another reason why Hasbro = Fail.

Haha, same here. But I wonder, for me, if mailing away for my Qui-Gon and Eopie four days before the deadline was such a good idea, especially since Hasbro had run out and was gonna place another order. I wonder if I'll still get them. ???

As long as you mailed before the deadline and not the day of the deadline (late in the day), it should be fine.  It's about when they're postmarked.  Of course Hasbro could claim, "while supplies last", and just say they didn't last...  I doubt that though if they put another production order in.

Yep, I know...they have 15 days left to comply with their own deadline in my case.

What they DON'T say is "If you fail to receive your figure after 8 weeks from the check being cashed, please contact our direct customer service hotline at xxx-xxx-xxxx and we will rectify the matter immediately".

That would be helpful, especially if their Fulfillment vendor is unreliable.

approximately != deadline

They gave a deadline for submitting the forms, they gave a guideline on when to expect your figure in the mail.

Either way, if they don't arrive within the 15 days; call up and let them know about it & send them a letter.  They'll certainly pay a lot more attention to someone who takes the time to do either of those things.

I got 3, and 2 were damaged (1 severely) and 1 was perfect...

They're a lower class of mail to save shipping so I'm pretty sure they're not getting the best of care when handling.  I can imagine seeing these flying about in the morning as the clerks sort them for the individual routes.  ;)

After thinking about it (and if all goes well), I should be getting my 2 Nahdarrs around the same time I get my Qui-Gon & Eopie (from the final batch due July 15th). I'm pretty excited! It's pretty random that my Nahdarr should arrive around that same time.

Dammit again!, from 84th Q/A with Sandtroopers.com:

Quote
QUESTION:  With the recent shortage of the Eopie/Qui Gon Mail away and having
to make more than what was thought, does hasbro plan on ensuring that the current ail away for Nahdar Vebb, and, the later this year mail away of 'Rocket Firing' Boba Fett, will have more than enough product to supply the demand (espcially for Boba) as I know that there are of collectors who were not happy with not getting the Eopie/Qui Gon with
in a decent amount of time. Also, why did it take so long for the postcards to get out notifying people of the delay. I didn't get mine until the beginning of April but yet the cancellation deadline was for March 31. Fortunatly for me I had no intention of cancelling my order and had heard through Snowtroopers.ca of this shortage and the mailing of the postcards. I just feel that if you are going to have a shortage and are going to send postcards giving them the option to either wait for the new batch or cancel their order all together, a slightly longer deadline or a faster method of getting the postcards to customers needs to be given.

ANSWER:  The response to Eopie & Qui-Gonn was the greatest of any of the modern mail-in figures (even greater than that for George Lucas in Stormtrooper
disguise).  That is why we re-released, even though we were not obligated to do so (all offers are "why supplies last").   We have also been notified that our supplies of Nahdar Vebb have been exhausted and we are about to re-release him as well.  Fans can expect a similar delay in getting their notification, since we don't know exactly when the new figures will come in.  As for Boba, we expect the demand will be huge, and are planning a large figure release to cover the demand.  If demand should exceed supply early in the promotion, we'll re-release.

Qui-Gon/Eopie set all over again. When can we expect to start getting postcards informing us of the delay? At least Hasbro did us the courtesy of placing another manafacturer's warrant.

With the Qui-Gon and Vebb orders, I sent in my request almost as soon as the order forms hit retail (or the web in Vebb's case) and I didn't have any problems getting the toys.  If you wait till the last minute to order, you always run the risk of them running out.

Both the Qui-Gon and Vebb offers were excllent.  One for a beast that really never saw retail in the US and one is not only one of the best Clone Wars figures, it's one of the best Star Wars figures Hasbro has ever done.  It's no wonder they were popular.

When the Fett coupons hit, or Hasbro posts a PDF order form, my suggestion is jump on it within the first week.  Even though it sounds like they've ordered more, this one has the potential to be really popular as well.

I'm glad that Hasbro is getting a very strong response to their mail away offers.  It shows them that they still have strong collector support, not to mention all the kiddies who sent away too.

As soon as the form comes up for download I'll have to be sure to send the away for Boba Fett though. :)

When mailing away for multiple figures, can you write only one check and send everything in one envelope? I'm guessing you need different certificates, but I'm not sure about writing a bunch of $7.00 checks or one large check. Any help is appreciated.

I wrote one check for two Qui-Gons, Hasbro cashed it and I'm patiently waiting for the toys.  It shouldn't be a problem to write a single check for multiple entry forms w/certificates.

I got mine a week ago. Then wondered why I even sent for it. I like Mon Calamari. But I dislike opening figures who have a high aftermarket value. All this carded stuff with the fold out diorama...is like Hasbro laughing at us "You gotta send off for two now!"

That's why I prefer my mail-ins in a small box their package being a clear baggie.
