Customizing Tips and Tricks / Re: Color of Omega Squads Armor
« on: March 5, 2006, 06:17 PM »
That's a great book.  I've never read a SW book, and I couldn't put it down.  It took me about a day to finish, which is very rare for me.

I've been thinking of doing the same thing as you Fritz.  I just have a hard time envisioning them all black, with no contrast except for their visors and assorted electronic displays on their packs and guns.  Maybe I'll do one, and if it looks like crap, it'll be my only one.  Who knows, maybe it'll kick arse.  It'd be nice if some of the SW concept artists would provide some Omega squad artwork.

Have you settled on the exact color black?  I was thinking of putting a shade of dark gray under a thin coating of black for mine, in hopes of achieving what looks black, yet changes ever so slightly depending on the angle you view it.

I also don't remember the book describing their kit contents, aside from the "Deece."  Maybe all RC squads have the same packs as Delta, given each of them specialize in 1 of 4 areas of expertise.

Scared me there, Phrubes.  After making your Moroni figure, I thought you were going down the dark path.

While I think the microman figures are a little too bulky and over-jointed for scantily-clad SW figures, you did a great job with the Leia.  What are your plans for her clothing/accessories?  Painting them on?  Soft goods?  Sculpting, or kit-bashing?

I have a couple figures here in Iraq with me (Tusken, Sandtrooper, 3PO, R2) and plan to get some out-in-the-desert pictures of them. I'll post them eventuallly...

You'd better mofo!  Been waitin' on those pics.  Did you glue 3p0's arm back together?

Maybe Rykrof will have a bit too much juma juice and motorboat those babies......pbpbpbpbpbppbpbpbpbpbpbpbpbpbpbpbpbpbpbpbpbbbbt!

I like the new head on her, Chew.  Did you think about putting some sort of decorative pattern on her leku tentacle thingies?  I think that might be nice, but maybe that's my idiosyncratic mind in overdrive.   ;) :P

Neyo didn't have Jaig eyes on his helmet, and he did have the same uniform as others in his outfit.  Fordo had those.  For more Neyo info, see the SW Databank.

I really like these latest three, Chew.

Bail looks awesome, as his legs are now more in proportion with the rest of him.  I like how you repainted his pistol, too.  It's just one of those simple, nice touches that you add to a figure and accessories that help set it apart.  Great job.

Tylin looks great, I like the combo of accessories for him, and the removeable backpack works well.  Only suggestion I have for him is to shade his lips or under his bottom lip a bit darker, because they're kind of hard to see.  Of course, that could be camera flash, lighting, or my ailing eyes.

I like the snow gear Rykrof from the waist up.  There's something about the legs that make him look like a polka band member, like these guys:

Not trying to be all the ass that I can be, it's just how my twisted little mind works.  I think it's a combination of things:  A - The dark thighs contrasting with the white legs are in similitude with the old crackers who don dark daisy dukes, and moving south you are treated to their sun-starved knees that blend seamlessly with their white knee-highs.  B - The lines produced by the polka stud's suspenders match up with Rykrof's chest accoutrements.  C - I have an obsession with polka and the hale, strapping lads who possess such a tantalizingly feral aura when clad with their bib, tucker, and accordions.

Maybe just extend the thigh color down the legs and I won't be so twitterpated.

AAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWW YEEEEAAAAAHHHHH BOYEEEE!!!!!!!

That is one cool figure, DD.  I have always wanted to do one, but didn't think the whole "shattered and shredded, then put back together" look could be pulled off.  You have shown me the light, and my hat is off to you sir.  Excellent work, and the brilliant transformation from Windu to Sion is very early Eddie Murphy.  <---not for kids, don't open at work unless you, your boss, and cow - orkers have an affinity for witticism and suffer from mastophilia.

I can't tell by the pics, but is his right arm painted to look like that or did you sculpt to achieve the sleeve?  Looks great regardless, I'm just curious.

Flickr.com is my favorite.  Of course, they're the only one I've ever tried.  Never had any problems with them, though.

DSJ, I just snapped out of a 10 minute mesmerized stupor brought on by those large avatar orbs.......who is that girl?

I am looking for at least 10 of the clone long rifles from the Bust-Ups line.  Anybody have any to spare?  I'll buy, trade, or trade custom work for 'em.

Freelo looks great, but that port is fargin' awesome!  Such a damn good paint job I didn't realize it was a Joe piece.  Expert work as always, Chewlio.  I think we all need to get a thesaurus when responding to your posts...
