Title: Star Wars Insider
Post by: Brian on March 21, 2005, 10:13 AM
For those of you that are subscribed, have you received the latest (Obi-Wan on the cover) issue yet?  I saw via the Official Site that it shipped to subscribers on March 11, but it hasn't shown up here yet.  It might still be coming (hits newsstands next Monday I guess), but I was just curious if mine was just late, or perhaps got skipped, or if anyone else had even received theirs yet.

Well, nevermind, I received mine today in the mail :).  Nice to see that purdy poster of all of the ROTS figures up close and personal, I sure wouldn't mind creating a display similar to that, if I had the necessary "skills" :).

I got mine Saturday Mosnab.  They took FOREVER with this issue.  I got my last one before anyone on the net had even reported them shipping at any site I visit, and this time I'm one of the last...  It's weird.

I still don't have mine...  :(

the Mailman must not be finished reading it yet.   :P

Is that poster of the figures a foldout from the magazine, or is it an entirely separate poster?

Yeah, I guess that's why I got curious as well Jesse.  Last time I got it before it was reported online as well, and this time it seemed to be running behind a bit.  Oh well, at least it got here :).

Unfortunately, its kind of a combination of the two, with the beginning of the poster (left hand side) being the last page of the magazine, and the rest of it folding out with the back cover.  I kind of wished it would have been a seperate poster, or at least all part of the cover so it could be taken out like a poster.  Either way, it is nice to see it closer in person, they sure make all the figures look purdy in that display. :)

Those cheapo's need to put the Insider back in the baggy. Typical - make it more expensive and give us less for it. Just like cable TV.

I got mine yesterday afternoon... I'll get to reading it this evening after class. I'm looking forward to that Clone story.

The clone story was good Brad, but a tad too Earthy too...  Just my opinion.  I digs them Clone Commando guys though.

They need to get more exclusive images I think going...  That'd be their big draw.  And crackdown on people putting scans up.  It's their best hope to make the rag appeal to a broader group.

I liked this issue though, but you're right that the cheapening of the bags sucks.  :(  Mine had dinged up corners and stuff.  I hate that.

Just thought I would bump this thread, and let everyone know that Issue #84 starts shipping this week, featuring 3 different covers.

I'm gonna have to find the other two covers at the newstand, because I'm really digging these.

Agreed - those are great looking covers!  They'd look great bagged and hanging on the wall.   8)

I got cover #2.  The clonetrooper artical was pretty good since I was having a hard time trying to remember who was who.  This was one of the quicker reads for me this time, not as thick as more recent versions and not as interesting outside the clone article.

I usally always pick up Insider at my newstand. Last time I checked they still had the august/wheelbike issue. Anybody know what is the newstand release date?

It will "start shipping to newsstands September 26". I'm not sure if that means they'll be put on the racks on the 26th, or that's when they leave the warehouse.

Has anyone gotten this issue (http://www.starwars.com/community/fanclub/mag/news20050913.html) of SW Insider?

I haven't had the chance to check my local bookstores, but am wondering whether it'll be available at a place like Barnes & Noble.  Has anybody gotten it there, at Wal-Mart, or Target?

Not yet, but I'll hit up Borders this week most likely.  Seeing some stuff in there for potential customs?

It came in the mail this week... and to be honest, I was pretty disappointed. There are not that many pictures, and most of them are the same shots that I've seen a hundred times already.

Yeah, I'm mostly looking for pics I haven't seen before, and help with colors for some of the different clones.  From what Jokabofe said, it sounds like it's a cheap ploy to get us clonuts to buy more clone crap.  How pathetic.  Even more pathetic however, is I'll probably still buy it.  ;)

So Jokabofe, did it have the same pics that were in the EPIII Visual Dictionary?

On a similar note, where's the best place for EPIII reference pics (specifically clone commanders) that you guys have found?

I'm looking forward to acquiring this issue: Karen's pretty proud of it and she's a wonderful writer, plus she can talk about clones all day long, so I'm excited to see what this issue has in store.

Its been a few weeks since I last came here (very busy with my own forum/school and stuff)

I found it at my local Library There are several New Commanders

Commander Deviss: the red hasbro commander
Captain  Jag: the blue pilot who shot down Plo Koon
Captain Fordo (Fordo Baggins LOL): The Red ARC in CW
Sergeant Fox: The Blue 501 clone who chased away Bail Organa
Galactic Marines: The Mygeeto Snow Clones

Thanks DDaestron.  I picked it up yesterday, and I echo Jokabofe's thoughts on it.  Not enough pictures.

The writing was great and informative, but more pics would've been nice.

I was actually dissaponted by the Stormie/Clonie article, they needed to have more pictures and explain more about the Imperial Shocktroopers, 501st, etc. The issue also has some pics of new Battlepacks, including the Clone Attack on Courascant one.

I read this magazine today but that red clone commander that they said was supposed to be Bly originally now is being explained as another commander called Deviss or something.

Other than that which was annoying I liked the info on Bacara's boys and stuff.  I was kind of expecting a little more from this section of the insider though, it was pretty hyped up.

Does anyone know how to reach the subscription department? I've been a subscriber for years and never received issue #84 :(

Is the only way to reach them by snail mail?

My issue also lists insider.starwars.com (http://insider.starwars.com) or 510-768-2700 as ways to contact them.  Hope it helps.

Thanks Jesse! Some how missed the number in the small print. :P

I called and it turns out my subscription had been suspended somehow. Our postman had listed the magazine as undeliverable, dispite having the propper address. ??? It all got sorted out now and my issues 84 and 85 are on the way. :D

Question for everyone.  I've been trying to find back issues of Insider and found that issue #23 is the 'Premiere Issue'.  What was Insider refered to prior to issue #23?  Any help you could lend is appreciated.

It was just called Lucasfilm Fan Club Magazine before the name change to "Star Wars Insider".

Who was the owner of the Magazine at that point? I'm guessing Lucasfilm, but later it switched to WOTC and in my opinion the magazine lost its appeal. I miss Rebel Rumblings and Anthony Daniel's articles.

I let my insider subscription lapse this year.  I didn't like the change over. I didn't want to pay for the hyperspace site account, I simply wanted the mag.  Then they upped the price to boot.

I don't have much money to throw around and it went up by whatever the subscription is now, per year! =)

Plus, I had a fiasco with them about getting my issues, ending up missing like 6 of them!  That's a whole year.  What a pain that was. They finally agreed to send me my back issues but that didn't even go right.  They ended up sending me 12 issues, and that was still with 3 of the one's I needed missing. heh

I just got the new Star Wars Insider #97 today. I haven't had a chance to open it up and look at it, but it's got interviews with Carrie and Mark with a great shot of Bespin Luke and A New Hope Leia on the front.

You know, I was wondering a few minutes ago, what do you suppose they are going to do for the extra special 100th issue? They've simply got to go all out.

Issue #102 is now shipping. I got the regular cover in the mail last week and today I picked up the Exclusive Limited Edition Collector's Cover from my local comic shop. Both covers feature Yoda. I haven't really read through it yet, but it does appear to have some cool Clone Wars stuff inside.

Snapfish.

I'd try a different one, maybe Photobuck or something. Snapfish must eithernot allow hotlinking or they don't give you very much bandwidth.
