If I had an extra Target coupon I'd give it a whirl though.

They will accept a competitor's coupon for one of their exclusives?   ???

I found the Royal Starship Droids set this morning, along with the Anakin/Sebulba set.  It appears that these are starting to show up now.

On Saturday, I bought a really beat-up VC20 Yoda at Target for $8.99.  I then learned (on Saturday night) that there was going to be a 50% off coupon for all Star Wars items.  So, on Sunday, I took the Yoda back and asked them to adjust the price for me.  The employee simply refunded me the $9.73, and then resold me the Yoda for $4.32.  I could not find the coupon anywhere in the store; the employee happened to have a flyer at the register and used the coupon out of that one.  But she actually cut out the coupon and put it into the register.  So, I am currently in possession of no coupons.   :'(

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Clone Wars Wave 27 (2012 Wave 2)
« on: March 23, 2012, 08:00 AM »
Well, the line started with poor articulation like swivel legs and static arms so really the Clone Wars line is just heading back to its roots.

I agree with you, Greg.  I was thinking about this last week, and I was reminded of it again last night while I was opening up those cancelled DVD packs.  The original Obi-Wan figure has no ankle or knee articulation; and, for some reason, that didn't seem to bother me back in 2008.  Why does it bother me now?  Well, because Hasbro has spoiled me, and I've gladly let myself be spoiled.  During 2010 and 2011, they put so much awesome articulation into this line that I came to expect it with everything.  But times are a'changin' and I need to get used to it.  Now, looking back, I see that this new "lack" of articulation is not unprecedented.  I'm just going to let myself go back to enjoying these new figures in the same way that I enjoyed them in 2008.

I am the most excited for the new Obi-Wan figure, since he is one of my favorite characters on the show.  And I picked up Aayla in late 2009/early 2010, so I will most likely pass on her repack.  I would be all over the new Rex figure if it weren't for that oversized bucket, which is clearly out of proportion (the same can be said of the upcoming phase 2 Wolffe).  And I have no interest in Boss, even if he had been made with super articulation.

I wouldn't mind if Hasbro just scrapped the Clone Wars line altogether...

Oh, banish the thought.   :'(

...since the figures and the show are both tired and boring at this point.

The figures are a little disappointing this year, but I certainly think that the show just keeps getting better and better.  I am completely on board for two (or three, or four, or five) more seasons, as long as they can maintain this quality.

I finally found the cancelled DVD sets at Marshalls.  I picked up a set for me and another set for my friend in Utah.

These won't be battle packs (which are now 3 figures), they'll be "milk the collectors" packs like Battle of Endor pilots, Republic Commandos and Force Unleashed. I wouldn't be surprised by a $35 to $40 price tag on these sets.

And I'll gladly pay $40 for some awesome figures.  I would prefer to see the price go up than to see Hasbro start chintzing out on articulation, like what they are doing in their "childrens' lines" (i.e., The Clone Wars and Movie Heroes).

The Vintage Collection / Re: Keeping Cardbacks

I throw all packaging into the recycle bin.

I open everything, and rarely buy doubles of anything.  I may be one of the few collectors out there who doesn't really care for the vintage packaging; and I am glad to see that Hasbro is going to be retiring it at the end of this year.  I would prefer to see a larger bubble stretching over the entire card, only because of my hope that we will see the return of some neat pack-in accessories (yeah, I know: wishful thinking).

Glad at least someone found them because I didn't either.

I'm gonna try to find them again today.  Back to the Marshalls near work, because I really want a shot at getting that Scythe figure (not too interested in Gearshift, though).

I just got back from Walmart with a DTF Darth Maul figure.  I want to compare the paints app of this new one to the Evolutions Maul that I already have in my collection.  I'll keep the one with the best paint apps; and if they are indistinguishable, then I'll take back this new one.

Yes, I'm an OCD collector.   ;)

Four Marshalls in four days and nada to show for it.  I guess they're just not hitting my area.

In addition to the cancelled Wal-Mart DVD 2-packs, TJ Maxx has the fall 2011 CW Battle Packs for $13.

No Kamino sets here. Saw Capture of the Droids and Hunt for Grievous.

I just came back from my local Marshalls.  They didn't have any of the cancelled DVD 2-packs, but they did have a lot of the Battle Packs from the Shadows of the Dark Side packaging: Defend Kamino, Assault on Geonosis, Hunt for Grievous, Stop the Zillo Beast and Cad Bane's Escape.  They were $12.99 each.

Lack of ball jointed shoulders, no wrists, no ankles seem like more than a little less. To me anyway. The shoulders were the deal breaker.

Oh, he has swivel shoulders; I hadn't noticed that.  And from the pictures over at Rebelscum, I cannot tell whether or not has he has ankle joints.  I thought that he did.  But, it's all a moot point for me anyway, since I plan on passing on this figure in favor of the figure being released later this year in The Vintage Collection.

I'm curious why other MH figures aren't as nice.

That's a good question, since Jar Jar is arguably the best new figure in the Movie Heroes line so far. Until I was informed of the color errors, he seemed to be on par with figures from The Vintage Collection, despite having a little less articulation.  Why the inconsistency with regard to the other figures in the second wave?

74
His Movie Heroes figure looks good though...  better than a lot of the Movie Heroes figures, but his Vintage one is to be "definitive" I guess.

At the beginning of this year, I had the intention of buying the Movies Heroes version of Jar Jar, since it was going to be better than any version that I have of that character in my collection (you know, the ones from 1999 and 2000).  But ever since learning about the color error with the figure's vest/shirt, I have decided to pass on this version and just wait for TVC.  Heck, I've waited years for a definitive update for this character - what's six more months, right?

Discover the Force / Movie Heroes / Re: 2012 Movie Heroes Line

Has anyone found the second wave of Movie Heroes in any great quantities yet?

Great quantities?  No.  Light quantities?  Yes.  I have seen the wave twice (last month), and each time only a part of it.  But I got what I wanted from it: Padmé and Anakin.
