Star Wars: Skeleton Crew (SPOILERS possible)
« on: May 26, 2022, 03:08 PM »
Officially announced at Celebration -

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, an Original series starring Jude Law, from executive producers Jon Watts, Christopher Ford, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, is streaming in 2023 only on @DisneyPlus

"4 kids get lost in the Star Wars galaxy and have to find their way home."  Takes place in the post-ROTJ timeline.   (Maybe Mando has to save them since he's on every other show in this era :P)

Interesting idea.  I wonder how this will connect to the Mandoverse.

This has to be the Vespa gang. Too prominent in BoBF and explains why they look out of place.

I think the target for this show is much more "Goonies" or "Stranger Things" in Star Wars, so it sounds like the kids will be younger than the Vespa gang.  The casting notice was looking for four kids aged 11 to 12 years old.

Not a chance in million years it's the Vespa gang

I'm curious about this series. Hoping to see more info soon.

It's a relief that casting and such is steering this away from the Lite Brite crew. Still, something tugs at me -- I kinda want to see a back story that would make their appearance in BoBF more palatable.

I'd be willing to bet money that this mysterious, lost planet winds up being Tatooine  ::)

It seems like an interesting premise.  And a thought comes to mind based on something that's existed more in print than on screen.  But oddly enough, the protocol droid that was teaching the classroom full of kids on Nevarro in The Mandalorian brought up the concept - Hyperspace Routes!

In a galaxy where making the jump to hyperspace seems like old hat, it's actually more complicated than that.  Han Solo said it himself when the Millennium Falcon left Tatooine:

Traveling through hyperspace ain't like dusting crops, boy! Without precise calculations we could fly right through a star or bounce too close to a supernova and that'd end your trip real quick, wouldn't it?

The protocol droid on Nevarro talked about one of the great Hyperspace routes through the galaxy.  And it turns out that navigating through hyperspace depends largely on these mapped out lanes through the galaxy that make hyperspace travel safe.  The Wookiees were renowned for their Claatuvac Guild of hyperspace navigators.  They were located in Kachirho, which was the location of the Battle of Kashyyyk in ROTS (probably the reason the Separatists attacked there).

I suspect that the kids who wind up on this ship end up having major issues with the navigation computer, and have great difficulty finding their way home because navigating through hyperspace isn't exactly easy.

I've been doing my best to avoid spoilers and leaks, I am looking forward to seeing how this will fit into the bigger picture of the Mandoverse, if at all.

I heard about the basic premise of the show, and that Jude Law is the star of the project.  Beyond that?  I don't know.  And that's fine, because I want to be surprised.
