Darryl's grown on me a lot.  He's no Merl.

Me too - he is definitely coming into his own now that he is away from his brother.  He is becoming one of my favortie characters.  It really wouldn't bother me much if the walkers did away with Shane - he bugs the piss out of me.

I haven't read any of the comics or spoilers - but I just assumed there was some sort of viral outbreak.  Just like any other virus people reacted differently based on their immune systems and various other factors - some simply died from it, some survived and some reanimated as walkers.  At least that's what I tell myself in order to suspend reality for an hour ;)

Just got this email from Netflix:

Dear Tracy,

It is clear that for many of our members two websites would make things more difficult, so we are going to keep Netflix as one place to go for streaming and DVDs.

This means no change: one website, one account, one password…in other words, no Qwikster.

While the July price change was necessary, we are now done with price changes.

We're constantly improving our streaming selection. We've recently added hundreds of movies from Paramount, Sony, Universal, Fox, Warner Bros., Lionsgate, MGM and Miramax. Plus, in the last couple of weeks alone, we've added over 3,500 TV episodes from ABC, NBC, FOX, CBS, USA, E!, Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, ABC Family, Discovery Channel, TLC, SyFy, A&E, History, and PBS.

We value you as a member, and we are committed to making Netflix the best place to get your movies & TV shows.

Respectfully,

The Netflix Team

Wow!  I didn't realize it was returning so (realitively) soon.  Thank goodness for DVR - I can spread out Dexter, The Walking Dead, Homeland and House.  Just need to wait for The Killing and Mad Men to pick back up.  It will carry me over to summer and True Blood.

I had forgotten all about Bertha and the fun that ensued when these treasures were dug up:

She had a hissy-fit and Dean just kept egging her on.   It was such a train wreck.

I love Tracy's family. They are such rednecks. :D

I would type a witty retort - but I am on my way out of the trailer to load my 6 screaming, dirty-faced kids into my pickup truck with the gunrack in the back.  I need to head on over to the Walmart to pick me up some more chewing tobacco and Boone's Farm.  I should be pretty easy to spot - I'll be the one with the curlers in my hair, with a snotty-faced baby on my hip and three more trailing behind drinking RC Cola out of a bottel and a rebel flag tattoo on my shoulder.   ;)

That's rough Rob - I know it must really hurt.  My husband does sheet metal fabrication on NASCAR race cars and years ago he pretty much sliced off his knuckle on his index finger.  After he got back to the shop from getting it stitched back together one of the older guys on the team told him he had a no fail remedy to make it better.  He told Chris he needed to take his finger home and soak it in cider. ::)

I do have Netflix - but I think I will wait on the Swedish version until I see the new release in December.  The trailer leaves nothing and everything out all in one turn.  Brilliant.

Tom Clancy's "Dead or Alive."

I finished W's book and enjoyed his insight.  Now I'm going to try to cram in a little fiction before my next class starts.

Dead or alive was a good read.

I'm currently reading Steig Larson's Millenium trilogy.  I've finished The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo and am in the middle of The Girl Who Played with Fire.  Excellent books.

Same here - just finished The Girl Who Played With Fire - I liked it even better than the first one.  I am getting ready to start  The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest.  I am looking forward to seeing the first film this Christmas - curious to see how the portray everything - I assume they will focus more heavily on the second half of the book.

HURRICANES!!!  >:(

I second that!  We had to cut our beach vacation short.  We had a mandatory evacuation on Oak Island, NC - just south of Wilmington - effective as of 10 a.m. yesterday.  On a positive note - the kids finally got to see some sea turtles hatch and swim out to sea.  Usually they hatch at night unassisted.  Since Irene was advancing, and the eggs where within the 50-60 day incubation time period, they decided to dig up the nest on Thursday afternoon.  It was really cool to see 122 little Loggerhead babies hatch and them swim out to sea.  We were told they would make it out to the Gulf Stream before Irene arrived - if they made it that far w/o being fish-food.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Home Improvement Projects

Good luck on the renovations!  My husband and I love home improvement projects.

Once that is finished, we get to install new carpet throughout the house.  But, that looks to be a little into the future as we don't want to charge this crap up on the credit cards.

We had that dream once upon a time.  Then the kids started walking and eventually playing outside and try as I might the carpets just get trashed.  We are considering laminate in their rooms and waiting on new carpet for the common areas......

I must confess, I do like me some Scotch Whisky:

You bump the thread today of all days to talk about Scotch?  The **** is wrong with you?

A great many things, or so I've been told.  But most importantly is the fact that my ancestors were thrown out of Scotland many years ago and landed in Ireland.  So basically I get confused between the two  ;)

You know Brent - I have been pondering this for a while - Which is a greater badge of Honor - to be trown out of Scotland - or Ireland?  And is "Honor" the best word for it?  Maybe I'll get back to you after a couple of more........
