Interesting topic.

The most I've dropped on any 1 item is the $325 for the Code 3 Republic Gunship.

I have a couple items in the $150 range...mostly carded vintage and the FAO Shuttle.  And I think I paid around $225 for my boxed vintage shuttle.

I much prefer a good bargain though.

I only own one figure from this series, Gambit, but I really would like to put together the Sentinal.  I'm thinking I'll have a lot of extra, loose figures this time next month...

The Clone set just looks like more of the Deluxe clones with a new paint job.  I'm a sucker and have been buying them but I have some of the AOTC sets open and the figures aren't that great.  The kneeling clone is the best sculpt and the prone just misses.

I passed on the Trilogy sets and I'll pass on these as well.  At least the Jedi and Sith sets anyway.  I'll decide on the Clone set when I see it.

As for that Mace, that sculpt is 6 years old and it's still, arguably, the best.  The Jedi Council set isn't bad but the Saga versions suck and the ROTS version still hasn't nailed it yet.

Voted!  Should come with "here's my phone number" action feature and pre-paid calling card.

I have a pretty complete collection of Starship Troopers items that I'm happy I still have.  I think I'm missing one 7" figure and maybe a Galoob Action Fleet bug but I haven't looked to finish that off for quite a while.

Most of the stuff that I'm happy that I bought now, even though at the time I wasn't sure I should, are some 12" GI Joe figs over the last couple of years.  Now that Hasbro has called off the 12" line I'm glad I picked them up.

And Morbug, just toss that Moss figure...he's just pissing off your other SP figs.   ;D

This is an interesting thread I thought I'd bring back up (since I'm just starting to look through older threads).

I bought a lot of Toy Biz figures back in the early '90's that I wish I hadn't wasted time and money on.  I usually only bought figures I liked or figures that had cool or unique designs.

I was also big into the Star Trek line before SW released in 1995. I don't regret buying most of those figures and I still have them loose in a display case.

I have a lot of misc. figures from various other lines that looked cool at the time or I was jonesing for a toy purchase and picked them up.  Also a few that I thought "hey, I could customize this into character X or Y," but then never did.

I jumped on the Simpsons figures early not because I liked them but because I saw they were pulling in cash on the secondary market.  Luckily, I sold them all off just before the bottom fell out of the market for them.

I can't think of any figures or lines that I don't collect that I wish I had.  There are a few figures here and there that I've passed on that I thought were cool but now, glad I didn't buy them.

When it comes to Star Wars, though, I've recently been looking at my collection and seeing that I kind of have a lot of crap.  I used to like buying all sorts of odd and different things because I thought they made the overall collection more diverse and kind of cool.  Meaning that anyone collecting modern Hasbro stuff pretty much has a collection that looks like everyone else's...it's the unique stuff that stands out.  But now I kind of wish that a lot of it would just go away.

One thing that I think might give me a different perspective on my collection, though, is if I could finally find a house instead of an apartment.  At any given time I have 95% of my collection in boxes and rotate things out to shelves for display, and that just sucks any way you cut it.

Sounds like you're talking about the Desert Patrol Vehicle made by Chenowith.

I kind of felt like I didn't budget my time quite as well at C3 as I did at C2.  I saw fewer presentations and it seemed like I was always running, but couldn't really tell you what I did.   ???

I had fun and felt like I saw a lot of cool things (Kinda wished I had tried to see Lucas though) but, like you, did a lot of running around on my own.  I kind of think that's almost the best way to do it though.

Nothing against my friends that were there with me, but in a show that sized it's easier to just make a call and do something than try to arrange some massive movement.  Heh.

But, yeah, when I make it down to Pitt next time we'll definitely have to hang out.

There is such a thing as trying too hard.  She may be hot but that picture ain't doing it for me.

Yeah, but I don't think the others are really appropriate to post, even on this forum

I was kind of disappointed in the pricing options for the Xbox.  I was seriously thinking about buying one but now I don't know.  And seriously, consoles are almost always sold at a loss...it's just the way it is.  I don't think MS trying to actually make money on the system is the way to go.

Selling the system with 1 controller and no hard drive for $300 is insane though.  The first thing you'll have to do is go lay out $100 for the HD and $50 for another controller.  And with games making a rumored jump from $49 to $59 the whole shebang is really gonna cost.

I may just go pick up a regular Xbox on the cheap, get the SW games I want (And Halo of course) and play that.

First...

Well, Jesse and Chewie have both tried to get me over here so, here I am.   :P

With RS down for a while I'll need to get my fix somewhere and if I can do that without endless posts of crap in the modern sections I may just stay!

Holy ****, you're here Eric! :)

Big E's a memeber of the PSWCS, and a buddy of mine.  Also was my line buddy at Celebration 3 (along with Jeff and Jason), where I was pretty much flew solo during the event for 90% of my time at it.  Me and E cashed in our badges for our store goodies together.

Good times man!  You gotta get out to Western PA sometime bud.  Glad to have you aboard finally.

Second...

If anything we've worked against increases in traffic at our site considering we like to "weed out" the people who are here to just be peckerheads.  And they do show up...  Some of them are the people that some of us have had issues with elsewhere, some are just post-padding morons that fit in better at Rebelscum since there's many of their ilk to compete with...  But either way we don't just let them play their game, they get das boot.  Sure they could increase traffic, but why let them drag our home down?  **** that, and **** them.

Third...

Creature Cantina.com sucks.  Sorry Bill.  You've known this.

I haven't heard the word "peckerhead" in years, I think I forgot about it.  I must now endeavor to use it more often.

And yes, C3 was a blast and it was great hanging out with you in line.

I should get down to Pitt more often.  Every time one of the comicons or toy shows get announced I think about running down for it but I haven't done it yet.  I'll have to try harder!

Does anyone go to TFN anymore?  Honestly, I've been to that site maybe twice since PW took it over and overhauled the entire thing.  I think it's ugly and hard to read.  It used to be my number 1 stop for SW news that didn't relate to collecting.  Now, worthless.

I used to post on the GH forums but found that the RS forums were a little more active so I stuck there.  But GH is one of my first stops for collecting news every day.

P.S.  Welcome to JD finally, efranks!  BTW, we'll need a "real world" name for you though, since this is first name territory 'round here.  Good to see Greg's butt back over here too!  One of the few original JD invitees that didn't stick around as much as we'd hoped...  ;)

Ah, my name is Eric Franks.  I forgot to put that in my sig.  I'll update that in a couple minutes.

Interesting take, JediMAC, and I agree with the "quality over quantity" point of view.

There have been several times when newbies on RS have come into a thread, posted a bunch of crap in answer to a question and gotten snotty when called out as being wrong.  And they always point to their 2,000 posts in a month as why they aren't "newbies" and why they "know" the answers to everything.  I'd rather take the advise of someone intelligent with 50 posts in 3 years than some dickhead with 5,000 posts in 3 months...but that post count seems to be the only important thing on RS anymore.

The other thing that I dislike about RS.com is how forum members were yelling "fake" and "rumor" when GalacticHunter was breaking news on Hasbro releases for this fall.  Their argument was how could they be real because RS.com hadn't broken the news or posted on it yet.  Well, the answer is simple, I don't think RS.com really has anyone "in the know" that posts news to the front page.  Curto may be the exception, but I'll take info from Adam, Mike, Pawlus and the "Swami" over most anything RS.com posts.  And have you ever read any of the answers in the Question Mark column?  I think a prerequisite for doing a Q&A section should be someone that at least dabbles in the hobby they're writing about...

There are a lot of things I don't like about that site but they have very active forums, the vintage section is incredible and the area reports sections are great.  The checklists and photo gallery isn't bad either.  And even though the modern boards are full of a lot of tools, sometimes it's fun picking on them just to piss them off.

E...   (who could be pissing of RS.com members lurking here...but doesn't care)
