« on: March 10, 2003, 02:58 PM »
I really like the look of those Bounty Hunters...don't tempt me.  $71 doesn't sound too bad

Don't tease me too much but I really want to pick up a set of Sesame Street Kubricks for my son...tell me these aren't some of the cutest things ever and reckon back to the day of SS Little People

Saga '02-'04 / Screen Scenes: Geonosis War Room and Jedi Council
« on: March 10, 2003, 11:05 AM »
Mike at Galactic Hunter posted today that there indeed will be 4 sets of two each from the Geonosis War Room and the Jedi Council.

As reported before these sets will include two new figures and a resculpt.

Personally I'm hoping for:

Poggle the Lesser

San Hill

Shu Mai

Tikkes

And for the Jedi Council:
Oppo Rancisis
Yarael Poof
Yaddle
Even Piell

Resculpts of Mace and Yoda sitting in the chairs would be cool as well.

I am probably the most excited about these sets over anything else in the '03 line!

Wat Tambor is amazing, I am really pumped by that figure.

Should it not be Padme Skywalker and not Padme Amidala!!!  Something is a little off with her face, not so angelic, I still love every new Padme figure.

Coleman is Coleman, I'll buy him, I know a certain group of people who will be wetting themselves when they see this one  8)

Star Wars Action Figures / Ice Cream Maker Guy
« on: February 11, 2003, 10:53 AM »
 :)

Here is my custom with a reference photo

I boiled and popped a Skiff Guard Lando, shaved his hair back a little and painted it, and used the Imperial Officer for the jumpsuit and painted it the beautiful puke orange :)   I need to work on doing hands as I usually will just paint them black or make sure they have gloves so I don't have to match colors.  I also need a Dremel  :-[

The maker I made out of Sculpey and I also need to make a new one but I am happy with him for now until Hasbro makes one too...

Saga '02-'04 / Trade Federation's 2003-2004 Rumor List
« on: February 7, 2003, 10:38 AM »
Stass Allie
Passel Argente
Bespin Gown Leia
Cloud Car Pilot
C3-P0 Jabba's Palace
Bib Fortuna
Weequay
Jabba w/ dais- as we have mentioned in the past
Chief Chirpa
General Madine
Imperial Dignitary- (though there was also talk of both versions at one point, only one is listed as of now)

These very well could be 4th Quarter 2003 releases, the Leia that has been rumored in the next Saga cases was a repack of the POTJ Bespin Escape Leia, this looks like a new one for later in the year...Something about this though smacks of too good to be true to me.  We'll have to wait until there is more confirmation :D

Saga '02-'04 / Time to Wake Up Hasbro!!!
« on: January 28, 2003, 12:03 PM »
http://www.mwctoys.com/FEATURE_012703.htm

MichaelMWC's site held a Fan Choice type of poll in which readers voted on best and worst of 2002 Toy Lines...Hasbro and Star Wars was well represented in Worst of Catagory...

Bad Articulation, Bad Sculpting, Bad Packaging...

I wonder why this is?  What makes people so ticked off, well lets look at the winners...the Muppets, ToyBiz (LOTR and Marvel Legends) MOTU and The Simpsons all had many of the Best of Votes.  All of these have superior sculpting and character likeness and most have uber articulation...

They also cost more, which then begs the question is the decrease in price point a result of this. Would you pay $1-$2 more to get figures like Ephant Mon in every figure?  Is the 3 3/4" scale not able to be better articulated and have a better likeness than the larger 5" and 6" figures?

Who's gonna win?

I have said all along that Tampa was going to win...and now I'm torn

#1 Do I want JediMAC to get even more bragging rights (although the Raiders and Rams did abandon LA so that at least gives me some satisfaction)
#2 I hate Tampa, any old NFC Central foe I hate and that goes double for the Cheeseheads
#3 I actually like most of the guys on Oakland (except Romanowski he's a punk), Gannon, Rice (one of my all time favorites), Brown, Garner, Woodson and Woodson, Janikowski

I think Tampa's D is so good and the old addage, Defense wins Championships will hold true here, the final

Tampa Bay 24 Oakland 21

The Prequel Trilogy / The Slaughter of the Padawans
« on: January 17, 2003, 09:14 AM »
Quote
BEN Hmm. To protect you both from the Emperor, you were hidden from your father when you were born. The Emperor knew, as I did,  if Anakin were to have any offspring, they would be a threat to him. That is the reason why your sister remains safely anonymous.
Let's say Luke and Leia are not born yet, however it is known by Palpatine that Padme is pregnant.  She is carrying Anakin's offspring which have the potential to be very powerful in the use of the Force.
Quote
The SECOND DRAFT of the Adventures of Starkiller dated January 28, 1975 contains the original prophesy of the one who will bring balance to the force.

"...And in the time of greatest despair there shall come a savior, and he shall be known as: THE SON OF THE SUNS."
Journal of the Whills, 3:127
Lucas' original idea of the Star Wars Saga was almost a Biblical type book The Journal of Whills in which a legendary character The Son of the Sons will be born and save the galaxy...much like Jesus saved the world from sin according to Christian religion.  The Son of the Suns was heard being chanted in both The Phantom Menace and Return of the Jedi, during the celebration scenes, so it is an official part of canon in the Star Wars Saga. OK, with me so far?

There are couple of ways to go with this, is the Son of the Suns Luke???  Or is it the Chosen One, Anakin?  So does The Son of the Suns = The Chosen One.  Or are the two prophecies different.  Looking at them, it appears to be so, if the Son of the Suns prophesy is as stated and the Chosen One stating the One who will bring balance to the Force.  Luke probably is the Savior, the Son of the Suns and Anakin is the Chosen One, the bringer of Balance

So, here is my idea, Luke and Leia are born during the movie, Palpatine senses a threat and his first act as Emperor of the Galaxy is to kill all offspring on Naboo say, much like Herod of the book Matthew 2nd Chapter does to the children of Bethlehem, kills everyone under the age of 2.  This would go a long way to cementing the evilness of the Empire.

Or if the Twins were born before the Start of Episode III, Luke may very well be in training to be a Jedi
Quote
QUI-GON : I'm afraid not. Had he been born in the Republic, we would have identified him early, and he would have become Jedi
So perhaps Palpatine's first act will be to wipe out all of the Padawans in the Jedi Temple, an known threat to the Empire.  Somehow, perhaps through the plucky Senator Jar Jar, Obi-Wan/Padme are tipped off to the threat and Luke and Leia are whisked away from the temple before Vader comes in and slaughters the children.

It would not be the first time in the prequels that Biblical paralells are drawn, Anakin's Immaculate conception, the freeing of Slaves etc.

Will we see Palpatine slaughtering children ala Herod?
