I'm not usually a 12" collector, but thought I would post this for anyone interested. I just received the latest issue of Star Wars Insider in the mail today (#77, the new "look" one), and they have confirmation (and a pic) in there of a KBToys exclusive 12" Chewbacca. It doesn't look too bad from the pic they show, I think I might actually have to pick it up if I can find it too. If you have the insider, check the Hasbro toys section.

Its plastic fur, and to me, at least from the pic they show, it doesn't look too bad at all....much better than past versions. I was really surprised to have it show up in the mailbox today, since it wasn't supposed to "ship" until the 22nd (and usually it is a couple weeks late getting to me, but we've since moved). Maybe it was because I recently renewed my membership, there are some nice Episode III pics in there too.

The hasbro guys I talked to last week left me with the impression that there would be all VOTC until episode III hit. (and only a few at that...)

I read on Rebelscum's list of 12" guys the three VOTC guys we know of but they also listed a Chewbacca. This must be what they were referring to. I really wanna see a picture of it because frankly I think all the past Chewies have not been that good looking.
That's interesting news about them all being VOTC.

Looks great to me. The head was the only thing that I wasn't thrilled about on the last one.
I'm leaving him in the box since he's VOTC though.

Compared it to the 'other' plactic Chewbacca and this one is better IMO. I am assuming that since so many stores closed this will be available on-line as well. I would like to see some shots of him in the packaging as I would have to assume it will be larger since he seems bigger than the first 3 VOTC released.

I think all of the vintage 12" guys (save for the Jawa and R2-D2) had the same sized packaging. The vintage Chewie, Vader, IG-88, and even Boba Fett were all taller than 12" so I don't think the box will be any different.

one thing i notice about the description on the kay*bee site - it says "this figure is 12" tall". so i guess they aren't going to care about scale with this one, huh? or do you think it's just a typo/misinformation type thing? the other 12" chewbacca figures are all at least 13" tall if i'm not mistaken. it would suck to have a chewbacca that's the same height as luke and han :-\

I can't remember where I read it, but I'm pretty sure they said he was supposed to be 15" tall. That seems a little more in line with scale.

Chewie will be the first of the OTC 12" that I purchase. They are starting to arrive at KB, so time to start hunting for him. Hasbro's Once Upon a Toy and Tatooine Traders has gotten the KB exclusives in the past, hope Chewie will appear out there too. 8)

I don't have a KB around so I ordered one on-line. My email said shipping on 12/17/04 so looks like the cat will have one more present to put under the tree from her to me ;).

I bought one. I like it. It's absolutely huge in its box. I'm leaving it inside just because it looks so great. It makes the others look miniscule in comparison.

I have the VOTC 15inch chewbacca, but I read at hasbro.com that they will be shipping a ROTS chewbacca. Anyone esle know about this?

Yes, I've held the figure myself. It's the same sculpt as the VOTC figure, just a lighter paint job.

This was a boneheaded decision to offer the 12" ROTS Chewie figure as a KB exclusive when It's sitting next to the VOTC Chewie. One look and you say 30$ and the only big difference is the weapon. Not worth it. They should ahve passed on it and gotten something else as an exclusive. No wonder they're going out of business.

My GF got one for me the other day...it's approximately 14.5 inches tall...course i haven't taken it outta the box, which is a couple inches taller than the box for the 12 inch ROTS palpatine or clone trooper...side by side, palpatine's only up to chewie's shoulder, so it's on the right scale at least LOL. If i'm not mistaken, it's the same figure as the KB VOTC chewie, just with a wookie blaster instead of a bowcaster...either way, have i got the best GF in the world or WHAT?! :D

Hey beth, did you notice if Chewie's knees bend at all, or if they're solid plastic? I have to ROTS one and i'm too chicken to open it LOL <only opened one ROTS 12 in clone and i don't wanna have to deal with THAT nightmare again>
