Jesse can confirm it for us but I am pretty sure it is.  Notice it has no chain around his neck.  I have seen pics of this bootleg version before. It is a good bootleg. When you see it side-by-side to the original the differences stick out more.

It's not easy to tell the difference, but like Gundam said, the bootleg doesn't have the chain around his neck, as seen in RS's pic here (which is still tough to see in their dark picture).

Other than the chain, it's pretty hard to tell the difference (when looking at pictures anyway, I don't have the real GG bust) unless you look at the bottom.  Interestingly, it has a Lucasfilm copyright from 2005 as The Encore Group.  I'm not sure if that is legitimate or not since I haven't been able to find out much about the company besides their website under construction.

the encore group produce the snow globes so it could be legitimate but judging from where its from and the sellers also selling those 3ft Vader's I'd imagine its not.

2005 would be the wrong copyright date for that piece.  That Vader came out around 2003 and in limited numbers (including promo pieces).  If anything, I think that the base is from one of those snowglobes, and the bust was probably cast from another Vader bust.

GG Mini busts questions
I have a couple of questions:

What is the cheapest online retailer you can recommend to get the GG mini busts?

What brick and mortar stores sell the GG mini busts?

Thanks

There are many stores that sell the busts online.  Lots sell them for MSRP but many undercut the price, often signficantly.  Favorites around here seem to be:

www.bigbadtoystore.com

www.newforcecomics.com

www.talesofwonder.com

BBTS is always good and always seems to come through with everything and is proximal for the MN guys.  Newforce often has issues with Hasbro stuff, but always seems to get the rest of their stuff they order.  Tales of Wonder is my personal favorite and I've ordered most of the stuff I've bought from Gentle Giant from them for the past year and change.

www.entertainmentearth.com

www.shopstarwars.com

Both of the above tend to sell the busts at MSRP.

As for brick and mortar, you got me.  Locally for me in Canada it's just collector/comic shops that carry that type of thing, so I'll let someone else speak for the U.S. situation.

Comic shops tend to be the only stores carrying them around these parts (Minnesota). Source comics and games, Hot Comics, Twin City comics. They tend to be at MSRP, but no shipping hassles.

Thanks so much, guys. I'll look into these places and see what deals they have. I want to stop collecting the 3 3/4" figures (lack of space) and I want to get into collecting the busts. So far I have the C3 Sandtrooper and the Luke Stormtrooper.

As a plug in to the trades section, I have many collectibles I'm willing to trade for GG busts (if anyone is interested). I also have an entire loose, mint collection of Star Wars 3 3.4" figures, beast packs, battle packs, deluxe figures and exclusives from 1995 to present day. I'll be willing to trade according to loose market prices. I also have the first two waves of MacFarlane Movie Maniacs and the Metallica and Kiss sets with stage and lights.

A while back I remember going into some chain DVD store in the mall that carried the busts but that was almost two years ago and I just can't remember what store that was :(

Again, thanks so much for letting me know about the stores.

Suncoast was great for clearances. I bought a few for about $10 a piece. No wonder they went OOB....

Wow! Where have I been? I had no idea Suncoast had gone out of business. I guess doing most of my purchases online nowadays keep me away from the mall. I did remember Suncoast and I was going to pay them a visit but now that you've mentioned they're gone, what's the use?

Thanks, guys.

Gundam,

My wife is going to SDCC so I can get you the Shocktrooper bust. Can you get me the Mara Jade bust?

I didn't E-mail you because I don't know how to find your E-mail address.
