I broke down today and bough about 8 figures off ebay for around 14.00 each.  Got the "cut scene" wave and a few others.  I think I am done searching in stores.  I just can't do it anymore.  Sadly, the stores will sell less figures, and Hasbro will stop making them.  But it serves them right! =(

It really is amazing how poorly they decide on case assortments/wave ratios.  I really think that kills distribution down the pipeline... and they need to start limiting the first wave's production of a new line some.  Stores order so much of the first stuff then they don't want to order subsequent waves.  Hasbro should know this by now.

This has made me crazy for years.  I'm still seeing sections filled with the TPM wave, and I have not seen a single figure past that.

And again, Hasbro has another big tentpole movie toyline (Avengers) that they say doesn't have any impact on SW at all, but it's too much of a coincidence that during April/May/June of each year SW is AWOL.

The Vintage Collection / Re: The Future of Star Wars Collecting?

I just assume you guys are here to pimp your latest books...  :-X

Oooh...that hurt.  You know, I would love not to have to push my books, but the publishing industry has decided that since social media is free, the authors should do as much as they can.  In truth, I find it slightly embarrassing, but if I want to keep making more I have to do it.

And like I said, if I could actually find product, I would talk about that, instead of my work...

BTW, "Fangbone! The Birthday Party of Dread" comes out on Aug 2, 2012

The term collector fatigue is interesting to me.  I'm not tired of collecting.  I'm tired of not collecting.  I haven't seen a single new thing in months.  I don't even know what to write about when I come out here anymore.

Wow...I  loooooved drive.  I liked the slow pace and the odd choices of dialog.  I also went nuts for the music.  That movie was just so different and cool.

I also thought that Cabin in the Woods was fantastic.  Funny or scary, it was entertaining.  And the last third was very unexpected.  And any movie these days that can surprise me is aces in my book.

I was looking forward Dr. Evazan but since I totally missed Walrus Man, what's the point...

I am really at the end of this...after collecting from 1977-1985 and from 1995 to the present...I just think I'm done...very, very down on this whole thing.

You know, if they were going to go this simple, I wish they would have pulled the trigger and just done these in an animated style to match the Clone Wars stuff.  Kids wouldn't know the difference.

Getting rid of my cards back in 2004 was a big deal for me, but I was happy to do it.  I had them all from 1995 on.  These days, they go straight into recycling.  If I want to see them again, I've got the internet
.

I've been out of it for a while...

but, again, I have found nothing new to buy since the TPM wave 6 weeks ago.  No cut-scenes figures, no Movie Heroes.  Nothing new at all.

Y'know...iPads are fun, but kind of useless.  I bought one in the summer hoping to work on it, but it is quicker and easier to pull out a pad and a pencil to write down an idea, or do a sketch.  Blogging was clumsy.  I did enjoy Garageband, but when I sent a file to my laptop to work on more some more, the files weren't compatible.

In the end, we use it mainly for games, and for 600.00 I could have had a Xbox and a bunch of games.

Watto's Junk Yard / COPYRIGHT LAWS and the WEB
« on: March 13, 2012, 08:30 PM »
This is more of a discussion starter, but I'm curious about how people feel about copyright laws and the internet.  I make my living with copyrighted material, but until recently my work (children's books) had never been pirated or bootlegged.  However, I recently saw my graphic novels available as a free download and I got very angry.

Happily, I ma not a hypocrite.  I can honestly say that I have only once downloaded an album for free.  It was something I had been waiting for a long time for, and I was really excited for it.  However, when it came out officially, I bought a CD.  I also have never watched a downloaded movie, except for 20 minutes of Iron Man  that was playing in a classroom at the high school I was teaching in on the last day of school.

I am very disturbed by this recent trend that some people think that entertainment is a right, and not something to be paid for.

Another thing that is bothering me are the other flagrant violations of copyright that I am seeing every day.  On Rebelscum, they had an article and link to a guy on Kickstarter who was raising money to make Star Wars infant clothes.  He didn't have a license.  Why should he get to sell his Star Wars stuff without paying Lucasfilm, when someone like Asley Eckstien is paying a license for her Star Wars product.  And please don't tell me that the Kickstarter guy "isn't making a lot"...that's not the issue.

Thoughts?

Dude, TPM did not "basically flop" It's the 5th highest money making film of all time.  It sold a sh#t ton of product.  The problem was that Hasbro and everyone thought it would sell a double-sh#t ton.

I don't think they want to make them because they are hookers.  Al the EU/Gaming stuff says so.

Personally, I think everyone has the right to earn a living...

Actually, it looks pretty fun.  I avoided the clone wars ship this year, and don't regret it.  But this looks to be pretty unique and playable.  At least we know that somehow, the numbers on these big ships work well enough that Hasbro keeps making them.
