Clone Wars '03-'05 / Re: No Worries for the Red Battle Droid

I think it's ultimately Hasbro's fault on the lack of new product to be found at retail.  There's some good posts on this in the SAGA forum if you disagree with me. ;)

What would they be?  Can everyone try to come up with one or two ideas for each movie?  If possible, these should be ones that connect to each other in some fashion, as the Trash Sets, War Room and Jedi Council do.

Some possibilities...

THE PHANTOM MENACE

Battle of Theed

- Maul fighting Obi Wan and Qui Gon

...connects to...

- Amidala and red Royal Guard shooting at a Battle Droid

ATTACK OF THE CLONES

Arena Battle

- Mace Windu, Jango Fett and OOM-9 Battle Droid

...connects to...

- wrecked Picador sled w/ Anakin and Padme fighting Super Droid

A NEW HOPE

Millenium Falcon

- cockpit with Han, Chewbacca and Luke in seats

...connects to...

- room w/ Dejarik table with Obi Wan, R2D2 and 3PO

THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK

Bespin Capture

- Bespin dinner table w/ Lando, Leia and Han firing blaster

...connects to...

- dinner table w/ Fett, Imperial Officer and Vader deflecting blast

RETURN OF THE JEDI

Ewok Village

- Han tied to grill w/ Ewok and Princess Leia

...connects to...

- seated throne 3PO w/ Ewok and captured R2D2

I think there are a lot of possibilities here we could come up with, and I've seen some good ones at rebelscum and nomad's, but maybe we can come up with an even better list here! ;)

Heh heh heh, I always like it when dimetrodon gets pissed at Hasbro. :)

I agree with you, most of the SAGA deluxes are a joke; Hasbro could do so much better.  So far, I like the following:

- 3PO w/ Battle Droid - A+
- NExu - A+
- Flying Geonosian - A

Everything else is pretty subpar in my book as far as SAGA deluxes go (I'm not a fan of the speederbike Clonetrooper either), but then, today, I got my new deluxes from newforce, and I am very pleased.

- Kamino Obi Wan w/ column - A+
- Kamino Jango Fett w/ column - B
- Dwarf Spider Droid - B+
- Super Builder Droid - A-

If anyone wants, I'll be happy to start a new thread and give comprehensive details on them.

Yep, and Hasbro is also the ones who keep repacking the Destroyer Droid for whatever reason, overproduced the heck out of pilot Jango, etc, etc, etc.

For them to blame the retailers is a pathetic excuse and by saying that it isn't their own fault is lame.  They handled this the wrong way, and I feel they owe the retailers and fans an apology.

Good to see you here dimetrodon, I think you'll like this place better than rebelscum (so far I do) and this place is a little more lively than nomad's (I'll never totally leave there though ;)).

Ok though, deal.  Sell me a new SAGA red Battle Droid for 2 dollars and you have your money.  I'll even pay for shipping. ;)

Yeah, if I could find one.  ::)

I'm in the same boat.  What a ridiculous way to treat an army-builder that nearly everyone wants a few of.  Oh Hasbro...

I'm a little too tired to go into nearly as much detail as JJ did, so I'll make it short and sweet:  I blame 99% of it on Hasbro.

Yeah, it would be hard to argue with the CT Stormtrooper being the ultimate army-builder.  I would rate the Fleet Trooper as a close second though.

After that, there are several in the running for third place.

Ewoks would be cool....

I could use a few more of those fuzzballs getting blasted by my Stormtoopers and AT-STs in my Endor diorama. ;)

8 - Hoth Rebel Trooper (well articulated)

Man, you really are disappointed in that figure! :o

I agree with you though, if they had made the improvements that you want it would be practically flawless.  Still though, I love this figure the way it already is and have about 25 of them including head variants.  They look really good in dioramas.

I'm still sold on the Snowtrooper, I think it looks nice.

Jesse, I do agree with your assessment on the swivel knees, but I think it could have worked on the Snowtrooper too.

Seeing that your signature here (and at Rebelscum for a long time) rips on the Fleet Trooper, how many do you have?  Also, do you think Hasbro is going to revisit that figure and make the improvements that you desire, such as a working holster and removable helmet?

His wrists and elbows might have articulation though Jesse (but I wouldn't bet on it), so it might be better than some of us are anticipating.  Knee articulation like the Fleet Trooper would have been nice.

I think that based on the pics this is a great looking figure.  No complaints here, especially if his wrists/elbows are indeed articulated.

Sorry if this figure has been mentioned before, I'm still kind of new to this forum.

Anyway, what are your opinions on it based on the pics?  Do you think it is much of an improvement over the POTF2 version?

I do like this figure and am looking forward to it.  While I can't recall all the details from the pics I saw a while back, I do remember that he is in a non-action pose (good Hasbro), has a working holster, and comes with an E-web cannon.  His sculpt also looks very nice.

The POTF2 version was already a good figure in my opinion, and it's hard sometimes to improve drastically over a pretty good figure (kind of like the Blastshield Luke is a pretty good figure and I don't think it is very far behind later Tatooine Lukes), so I have to say that I am very satisfied with the pics I saw of it earlier.  Hopefully he will have a little extra articulation too.

What do you all think of this fella?  How many do you want?  Count me in for 8-10 of them if I can find that many.

Saga '02-'04 / Which army-builders need a facelift?
« on: May 10, 2003, 03:12 AM »
There are a few army-builders that I think it is time Hasbro starts going back to the drawing board and doing some major resculpting, others that could use a little tweaking, and still others that could use some head variants.

ALL NEW SCULPTS:

Hoth Rebel Trooper

- I think that the one that came with the Deluxe Hoth Cannon is pretty cool, and much better than the regular POTF2 bearded man, but an all new one would be a welcome addition I think, especially if it were on par with the new Hoth Han Solo.  With the improved Snowtrooper already on the way, this could be coming too.  Somewhere I think I might have seen it mentioned on a preview list?

Clonetrooper

- I don't feel that Hasbro has done this awesome army-builder justice as of yet, here it is over a year since EPII's release, and we are yet to have a great all-around Clone.  How about one that has CT Stormtrooper-esque articulation with added wrist articulation?  The Clone 3-pk will be a lot of fun, but I wish that a better carded version would come out too.  I'm sure eventually one will, but I have to have one tomorrow when I go to Walmart. ;)

TWEAKING:

CT Stormtrooper

- This is still a great figure (possibly my favorite ever), but wouldn't it be nice if somewhere down the road they re-released it as a basic carded figure with added wrist articulation?  And possibly a blaster that could attach a blast effect?

Naboo Guard (orange/yellowish outfit)

- Maybe a complete overhaul would be better, but I wouldn't mind the earlier one being re-released with some added articulation, or even a head variant which could also go into the next category.

HEAD VARIANT:

Bespin Guard

- Pretty simple here, just make one that looks like a Mexican or Spanish man like the vintage version, and perhaps an African American one too.  That would be awesome.  Considering they are doing it with the Outlander Club patrons, I feel they should do the same with the Bespin Guards, who tend to be much more recognizable to casual fans and kids too.

There's more than these right now that I could mention, this is probably just the tip of the iceberg.

What are your opinions?  Are there some others you would like to see?
