The Bullpen / Marvel Legends
« on: June 23, 2003, 03:31 PM »
Has it actually been confirmed that Goliath is going to be a chase fig?

Wave V looks to be the best lineup so far.  Colossus and Sabretooth I'm especially looking forward to.  I wonder how Toy Biz is going to handle Mr. Fantastic.  I don't think his stretching power translates well to a toy.

On a slightly off topic note, can anyone still get access to Series I figs? As I just got into this line, I missed out on them and the Boston area has but dried up.  Any help would be appreciated.  LMK.  Thanks.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Bai Ling cast in E3

Way too skinny for my liking, but yeah she's a little bit hotter than that dude.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: The Official Cast Thread

Definitely not a bad looking chick, but man, do the woman in the SW universe age bad or what?

I mean, jeez, its only 20 years between EIII and ANH.  The above situation is too bad, but look at the younger version of Aunt Beru in AOTC and compare her to the ANH version.

Just started HP and the Order of the Phoenix today at lunch and finished the first two chapters.  This book won't take too long for me to finish.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Movies that make you cry
« on: June 23, 2003, 02:57 PM »
I don't think I've ever cried during a movie in my entire adult life.  While some moments can be deep and thought provoking, tears have never actually flowed.  My wife, on the other hand, cries a river during alot of films.  Most notably is the ending of Armageddon when Bruce Willis says goodbye to his daughter.  Even though she's never said it, I know it reminds her of her father, who she lost when she was 18.

However, during my childhood, I remember crying when Apollo Creed died from massive beating he took from Ivan Drago in Rocky IV.

Ok, #1 is the most important one.  Everything else is inconsequential as long as #1 is made.  The rest of picks reflect my love for freaky deaky aliens and droids.

1.  Jabba the Hutt (no brainer and I predict the #1 wish by a long shot)
2. Ak-Rev / Rappertunie
3.  Umpaz Stay (w/ #2 to have a full band)
4.  Hermi Odle
5.  J'Quille the Whiphid
6.  BG-J38
7.  R2-D2 w/ serving tray
8.  Tanus Spijek the Elom
9 and 10.  (2) two packs of the remaining vintage Ewoks not yet made: Chief Chirpa, Romba, Lumat and Warok.  Package them any way you want Hasbro, just make them.

This is one of only three strips I read daily, the other two being For Better or for Worse and Foxtrot, which is my personal fav.  The strips in the Boston Globe suck, no Blondie, Hagar or Beetle Bailey, just crap that doesn't interest me or is funny for that matter.

Its amazing to see the change everyone's favorite fat orange cat and company have gone through over the past 25 years.

Well, its about 13 hours away from the new book being released so I figured a thread was in order.  There was some rumblings about this book in the "What are you reading now" thread, but figured this book, with all the hype, warranted its own thread.

I won't be picking up the book at midnight tonight but will go out to Target tomorrow morning and pick a copy up.  (I believe its on sale for $14, which is more than 50% off)

I still have to finish the book I'm reading now, but will start HP & tOotP soon after that's finished.

Anyone else as excited about this as I am?

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Re: Your Avatar...
« on: June 20, 2003, 07:10 AM »
My avatar is Space Moose.  Space Moose was the star of a an extremelyprofane comic strip that ran in a Canadian college's newspaper in the early 90's.

And for the record, extremely funny.  Cosmo emailed me a link last year after I inquired about it following a similar thread at RS.  Its not for everyone though, there's definitely some raunchy stuff going on.

I joined it back in March after finding nothing since Nov. 02.  My first shipment of the speeders and Vader / Leia Unleashed shipped within a week.  Since I had already ordered a case from newforce with the padawans, Aayla, etc., when I signed up, I just didn't order those figs. (leave the qty as "0")  My next shipment should be huge: Luke, Sidious, Obi Unleashed, Clone Wars vehicles, Han Hoth, Chewie Mynock, and the items I have on hold: Mace, R2 and spider droid.  So far, their service has been excellent - always a quick response on email - and they're willing to hold figs to save you on shipping (which is fair to begin with, only cost $10 to ship 2 Unleashed figs and 2 speeders).  They charge your credit card with a 50% deposit to secure your items, but everything is laid out nicely on your account status page.

I recommend giving it a shot, Cosmo.

Episode 1 / Re: Queen Amidala Battle with Ascension Gun
« on: June 19, 2003, 08:38 AM »
This is the only figure I need to complete my standard Episode I collection, but I refused to pay a high price for it.  If this fig was released near the beginning or middle of Episode I's run, it would have been warming the pegs for months or in some cases, still will be. (A TRU near me still has a row of clearanced Nute Gunrays for sale.  The only activity on these has been moving them from the clearance section to the Star Wars section)

Nope, buying it all  ;D

Saga '02-'04 / Re: What 2003 SAGA product are you still missing?
« on: June 19, 2003, 06:51 AM »
Due to the lack of figs, I joined kebco's one of every figure club.  Everything is pre-ordered for me and I expect a huge shipment soon - Luke, Obi, Sidious unleashed, Clone Wars vehicles, Han Hoth, Chewie Mynock and the items I have on hold: Mace, R2 and Spider Droid.

The only figs I need that are those that weren't available when I signed up: first variant Imperial officer, both variants of the Rebel Fleet Trooper and Tusken Raider.  Other than those, I'm caught up.

Jocasta's Reading Room / Re: Best place to purchase new comics.
« on: June 18, 2003, 02:47 PM »
I still think to best way to purchase new comics is to find a comic shop near you and buy them there.  No shipping charges, new books every Wednesday, etc.  Most have a "club" you can join and they hold the books you want for you.  That way you don't have to go every week, you just do a pick up once or twice a month and pay for it then.
