Title: NCAA Football 2006 - 2007
Post by: Diddly on August 28, 2006, 11:53 PM
I didn't see a thread for the new year, which is beginning this week...

So who's rooting for who this season? I'm sticking with my beloved Texas Longhorns. We had the major loss of VY going pro, but we're training two good quarterbacks in Jevan Snead and Colt McCoy. Also returning are Jamaal Charles, who is a running powerhouse, along with Selvin Young, Limas Sweed, and Billy Pittman. Should be a good season!

Another big story going around the Big XII is Rhett Bomar getting kicked out of OU and settling in at Sam Houston State. Crazy stuff there.

Use this thread to discuss the season!

I have always lived in Nebraska - so I'm a Husker fan through and through.  We started to play a little better at the end of last season, so hopefully we can build on that this year.  We also have the distinction of being the only school in the country to play both USC and Texas this year - so, despite their player losses - those should be some tough games.  Many places are picking us to win the Big 12 North, and I'd be quite happy with that.  Things should really be up for grabs this year, as far as the National Title picture.  I doubt we'll be on that level yet, but it should make things interesting regardless.  Go Big Red! :)

The South Carolina Gamecocks continue their proud tradition of being uniquely retarded, getting shut-out by Bulldogs on Saturday 18-0.

Scores by game thus far this season...

V. Mississippi State, 15-0 (Winner!)
V. GA Bulldogs, 0-18 (Loser!)
V. Wofford College, 26-20 (Winner!)
V. Florida Atlantic, 46-6 (Winner!)

I'm enjoying what the Gators are doing so far - but they have a BRUTAL schedule coming up with LSU, Auburn, Georgia and Florida State on the horizon.

ARE YOU ALL READY FOR THIS. TODAY is the Buckeyes vs Michigan game. I've been a fan of the Buckeyes since I was little, since both my parents are alum. I have just one thing to say

Hell yeah - if the Gators aren't in the championship game tomorrow - I'm going to have an eruption.

#1 schedule in the league, 12-1, with wins over LSU, Georgia, Arkansas, Tenessee, and Florida State.

Their only loss coming against a once-ranked-#2 Aubrun team, on the road - and it was very close until the very end.

Gotta love what Urban Meyer has done in just two years.

Gonna be one helluva close race here for that #2 spot between Michigan and Florida, and whoever gets left out is gonna be pissed off, no doubt.  I think I'm of the popular mindset that Michigan had it's shot at Ohio St. already, so it's Florida's turn now, despite most people around the country not being too interested in seeing Florida play.

Add the OU/Neb. game, and that 3OT Rutgers/WV game, and it was a pretty exciting day of college football considering the relatively light schedule.

The South Carolina Gamecocks fared pretty well this year, nearly beating several ranked teams. We'll be going to a bowl game, so that's cool.

Carolina versus Mississippi State, 15-0 Carolina
Carolina versus Georiga, 18-0 Georiga
Carolina versus Wofford, 27-20 Carolina
Carolina versus Florida Atlantic, 45-6 Carolina
Carolina versus Auburn, 24-17 Auburn
Carolina versus Kentucky, 24-17 Carolina
Carolina versus Vanderbilt, 31-13 Carolina
Carolina versus Tennessee, 31-24 Tennessee
Carolina versus Arkansas, 26-20 Arkansas
Carolina versus Florida, 17-16 Florida
Carolina versus Middle Tennessee, 52-7 Carolina
Carolina versus Clemson, 31-28 Carolina

Florida just vaulted over Michigan in both the AP and the coaches poll, the latter of which was supposed to be the big indicator of who was going to go to the National Championship (since the computer portion of the ranking sounded like it'd have Florida at #2 for sure).  Now that the coaches agree, it looks like Florida's in the big one, while Michigan fans are ass out, and grumbling about having to play a now not so great (#8ish)  USC in the Rose Bowl.

BCS sucks.  Get to the freakin' playoff system already.  ::)

Yeah, saw that earlier.

LA Times is reporting that the Gators are #2 in the BCS too and that they'll go to the Championship game.

Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled about this - but either way some team's fans were going to be pissed.  I (along with just about EVERY SINGLE COLLEGE FOOTBALL FAN IN THE ENTIRE ******* COUNTRY) agree that we desperately need a playoff to prevent this type of nonsense.

Even if it was just 4 teams and 2 weeks...

This crap is ridiculous, even if it works out well for my team this time through.

Couldn't have said it better myself, Rob.  Of coure I am pissed off that Michigan doesn't get another shot at OSU but I knew it wouldn't happen.  The Big 10 always gets the shaft.  Hell, Wisconsin should be playing somewhere (11-1), their only loss is to Michigan but when you watch the big 10 all year and see only highlights of the other leagues, it's hard not to be biased.  I have friends that worship the teams from the SEC and claim that they always get screwed so I guess it's a matter of whom you follow the most.

What a Fiesta Bowl.  Easily the best 4th quarter/OT I can remember.

What a Fiesta Bowl.  Easily the best 4th quarter/OT I can remember.

I had about four consecutive heart-attacks last night, I think.

I'm disappointed in the loss, but Boise State played their asses off all game, and they and their hugely-testicled head coach deserved the win.

Wow, no comments about last night's game?  Being a Michigan fan, I'm no supporter of Ohio State but I figured it would be a close game with them coming out on top.  I would never have suspected Florida doing what they did.  Congrats to them.

Wow, no comments about last night's game?

After the first couple plays (the return for the TD and Florida's first TD) I thought 'Great! This might be a good offensive game). Only after seeing UF exploit the weakness in their zone defense time after time I knew it wasn't going to be pretty. Once UF was up 27 I shut it off. This wasn't even worthy of being called a championship game. The top Big 10 teams were overrated.

The SEC is the best conference in the Nation, and it's not even close. It's always nice to see the Southern teams hand it to the over-rated oft undefeated teams from "the outside", and totally expose them as the frauds they are... after all the bull**** that is thrown at the SEC, what happens? Notre Dame was LSU's bitch, proving for the 8th or 9th time in a row that Notre Dame doesn't deserve a ******* football team, much less any sort of BCS placement, or a bowl game.

As far as Ohio State goes... this is, what? Their 8th or 9th straight loss to an SEC? Not to tear a page from Dennis Green, but THE BUCKEYES WERE EXACTLY WHO WE THOUGHT THEY WERE.

What a bunch of trash.
