That's pretty cool. It would be something if they packaged him with a cantina background and packaging as a SDCC exclusive.
-
THAT is cool. :) I love Snaggletooth... He was my fav Cantina alien as a kid, and especially the blue one my brother had. Hmmm. I haven't bought a Jumbo figure yet, but... ugh.
-
I like how GG is playing coy on twitter. I sent them the photo to "remind" them.

The "G4" logo?
And that's Yoda on the second shelf in front of Death Squad Commander, isn't it?
-
Top shelf, all the way down. See the red Snags? That's a blue snags behind him, which is what Scott's pointed out.
For some reason though GG is still being weird about it on Twitter saying it's something else, hash tagging it IKnowSomethingYouDon'tKnow for some reason.
That sure as hell looks like blue snags behind red snags to me though.
-
This is all I see. one Red snagg (do you see more than one? you wrote "snags", is that plural, or just a short nickname for the single figure?), a yoda, and a mystery (to me) figure. What else am I missing?
If you mean the figure behind what I labeled as "red snagg", that looks like an empire officer, grey suit, maybe some chest medals, perhaps Tarkin?
-
Right behind Red Snag is Blue Snag
-
That figure looks taller than snaggletooth (unless he's on a riser). Tarkin, maybe?

Blue snaggletooth is taller than red snaggletooth. Also that mystery figure is just a Jawa with soft goods robe.

Upon closer inspection, that may be Jedi Luke???

I think you're right, it could be Jedi Luke. The other figures on that row are XWing Pilot Luke and Tatooine Luke (maybe). Makes sense to line up all the Lukes.
-
The hand looks like it's got the "bend out" like Jedi Luke... But that sure looks blue.
A new blue coat-ish debate? :)
-
I still think it looks like a Blue Snaggletooth. The color looks too blue to be Luke or an officer to me. If you blow up the picture, it looks like a very light colored boot sticking out from next to Logray, which would also fit with Snags. Outside of the Gamorrean, they've mainly stuck to the original 21 figures and have done a bunch of the variations, so Blue Snags also seems to fit with that practice as well. I can see this being an exclusive of some kind - Hope it isn't limited to CVI or something like that. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.
-
I think that light colored spot sticking out by Logray is his medicine pouch.. You can see a similar light shape next to the second Logray bust (left of the one in question). I think Blue Snags boots would be farther back in the shelf than.
-
Reading up from the otheR site...
A fellow AZ collector posted this video where there is still not a very clear shot of that shelf but if you pause at 1:29 or so, you can see that it is Blue Snag (Belt buckle) and the white figure between him and X-Wing Luke looks to be the Death Star droid (So I think that Hoth Leia will have to wait)
Rad Jobs With Gentle Giant (http://www.g4tv.com/videos/58342/rad-jobs-with-gentle-giant/?quality=hd)
Looks like a Blue Snag to me!

Some caps from that video.

When I first saw the photo I was thinking that it was Blue Snaggletooth but now I feel like maybe it's Luke Jedi. In the picture below, what appears to be the belt buckle on a Blue Snag could be the beak from Logray's headpiece and the "boot" is actually his pouch. If you look at the angle he's facing, those two pieces line up with what was orignally thought to be silver on Snags.
If you look at the head (blue circle) it looks more like a Luke Jedi hairline rather than Snags, who has black hair. The hand (red arrow) looks a little more like Blue Snags, but the angle of the photo and the position of Logray in front of the Jumbo figure could be putting the size/orientation out of whack making this a bent arm from Luke as much as a straight arm from Snags.
The only thing I'm not positive of is if you look at the yellow arrow, which can explain the top part of what was thought of as the boot, doesn't necessarily explain what also appears to be silver boots seen from underneath the shelf. that could be a trick of the lighting, though.
At this point, looking at the photo again and reading what GG tweeted yesterday, I'm leaning towards Luke Jedi at this point. However, I do still believe that there's a Blue Snag in the works based on the Insider photo from 2010 that shows early Jumbo figures and some vintage Kenner 3.75 figures. That photo showed the Gam Guard and Yoda long before we got wind of the Jumbo versions. Blue Snag, Bossk and AT-AT Driver are also in that photo and it could be an early roadmap to their releases. No Luke Jedi, but we've also gotten Jumbo R5-D4 and the DSD since that photo was posted and their vintage 3.75" counterparts weren't shown.

It looks to me like Blue Snags is leaning back against the back wall versus standing upright. The silver boot sticks out a bit from the leg on the vintage figure anyway, but I think at that angle it could easily be the boot. I can see where people are seeing Luke Jedi's head in there, but looks just as much like a Snaggletooth head to me. The light colored spot near the waste still shows up in Sir Real's screen caps at a more head-on angle, so I don't think that's just part of Logray.
What settles it for me more than anything is the coloring. That bluish color looks spot on for a Blue snags. If you look at everything else that is supposed to be black in the picture, it all looks black, so I don't see why that figure in the back corner would be a black figure that looks a little blue. It also fits with their release pattern of vintage variants. They have a variation for Jawa, Han, Yoda....makes sense to make one for Snags.

The head profile and contours still speaks "Luke" to me. I think that due to the fact that we are looking at a figure through glass next to a "hot" light source, we are seeing pixels blown out and color shift akin to the DS Commander scenes (gray or olive outfit) on the Death Star in ANH.

Upon closer inspection, that hostess is friggin' hawtsome.

Wouldn't you expect other blacks to look similar if that was the case? The Logray base, red snaggletooth belt, DS Trooper, etc. all look like a darker, distinguished black by comparison. That hand on the left arm also looks like its hanging too low to be Jedi Luke, even if the shoulder is rotated back to get his hand pointing down.
Found this interesting too. From the Squirrel's Corner (GG Q&A) over a year ago:
"4. Is Gentle Giant going to offer a 12″ version of the Blue Snaggletooth figure? If so, are you going to put it or a card back or in a plain white mailer like the 3 3/4″ version was originally offered in?
We love Blue Snags! First up for the 12” Vintage Kenner line is making sure we complete the first 12. Then our collectors can expect to see some of the cool Cantina creatures to be offered."
-
I messed with the image is photoshop so I'll amend my theory. It's Blue Snaggletooth. ;)

Confirmed for SDCC...preorder for PG Members up now

I'm going but I'm not a member. Does anyone know if one person can buy another person one?

I signed up for the Premier Guild Membership an hour ago. Does anyone know who long it takes for new memberships to become active. I can't wait to order the blue Snaggletooth.

Not sure how long it takes to process a sign-up, but check your email for that special one time offer code for the free gift for signing up. One of those gifts is the Jumbo Gamorrean Guard (if they're still available). I had to email customer service to get my code, since I didn't get the auto-email (customerservice@gentlegiantstudios.com).
Here's a screen grab from that YouTube video showing the narrow card. Looks nice.

I signed up a month or so ago. Your membership is manually processed, so should happen sometime on Monday and you should be all set.
As I understand, you would need to be present at SDCC to order one of these, right? I have the membership, but not going to the Con - can I still get one? :-\
*EDIT* NM - just placed my order. 8)
-
I know you typed "NM", but for the record, they charged me shipping on my order, so I'm pretty sure they're mailing these orders out, and there's no need to go to the CON.

Yeah, that was my clue too. When I originally went there I only saw one Blue Snags listing and it didn't have a purchase option, so I figured you had to reserve and get it at the show or something. But once I logged in there was a second Blue Snags listed that you can just buy. It says it will be shipped after the con.

Thanks for the info guys. I sure hope they intialize my membership before the blue Snaggletooth pre-order sells out. Hard to believe it has to be setup manually.

If I were you, to be sure, I'd send an email to "customerservice@gentlegiantstudios.com" right now, and let them know you just bought a Premier Guild membership, and want to preorder the SDCC Jumbo Blue Snaggletooth. And ask them to email you as soon as you are eligible to make that purchase as well.
Might not make any difference, but then again, it couldn't hurt either.
Also, I know I mentioned this before, but make sure you get that free one time promotional code (in email) to get your free gift for signing up. And one of those is the Jumbo Gamm. Guard.

I emailed them yesterday. They'll probably be manually emailing a lot of people tomorrow.

I don't know about anyone else, but I actually prefer the narrow cards to the full size replica cardbacks.
-
I'm just glad that he comes on any card, since the original figure was a mailaway, I don't think that one was carded at all. So, now Jumbo Blue can hang on my wall like everyone else. :)

I'm with you Jay. The usual cards are so big that I can't even display them, so I end up taking them out of the package. Blue Snags is tight enough that I might leave him sealed. I hope they still use the resealable packaging.
-
... I hope they still use the resealable packaging.
It's the same as the others, just not as wide. You can see in that video when they open the figure.
-
I managed to get my order in for the blue Snaggletooth. I'm glad I preordered it early because it looks like they sold out of the preorders.

Where in the hell is Greedo?! I thought he was originally due in Feb of this year, now he's not even in their display with upcoming figures? What gives?
-
He's there, right behind Walrusman.
Here's another shot of the display from AFI:

What is a PGM discount code? That's a great score!

I received a one-time $30 discount code when I recently joined the PGM. I know you recently joined the PGM as well so maybe look at your confirmation emails to see if there was one attached.
