The Legacy Collection / Re: Legacy Collection Comic Packs

Actually the lit lightsaber and the hilt that Cade has is from later in the series; like around issue #12 :)

Cool - thanks for the clarification.

Grabbed one each of the Draco/Krieg, Cade/Talon, Leia/Dala, Dengar/Shysa sets tonight on my way home from work.

I haven't opened the two Marvel sets yet, but I did open the two Legacy sets - they are fantastic!

There's only one thing that I noticed was different about my Cade/Talon set when compared to Adam's reviews - my Cade came with both a lit and unlit lightsaber. The hilt is almost all silver with some black grip lines at near the bottom of the handle and the lit saber has a green blade. I think this meant to be Sia's lightsaber from Issue #6 that the two Imperial Knights come with.

So what will be the more common version of the set with or without the lightsaber? I'm going to shoot myself if the "with" set is rarer of the two since I just opened one of those.  :o

Boy this set just gets worse and worse.

Why did they even bother?

You know - when I don't like some of the things they do with the Star Wars line, I usually refer to the line manager Darryl DePriest as Darryl DeRetard.

There is not a word in the English language that I can come up (and not use profanity) that trumps that and still accurately reflects the magnitude of ineptitude that this case assortment represents.

I mean, do they even both to step foot into WalMarts, Targets or TRUs to observe FIRST HAND how their case packs are working?

I'm sorry, but THIS is how this case assortment should have been:

2x ToD Indy
2x Mola Ram
2x Chief Temple Guard
2x Thugee Temple Guard
2x Short Round
2x Willie Scott

And then future cases could have been:

4x Thugee Temple Guard
1x Mola Ram
1x Short Round
1x Willie Scott
1x Chief Temple Guard
1x ToD Indy
1x Colonel Vogel
1x Henry Jones, Sr.
1x Elsa Schneider

There is not a SINGLE rare RotLA or KotCS figure at this point. There just isn't and for a Wave 1 or Wave 2 figure to STILL be shipping in Wave 4 is an absolute disgrace.

Why would you hope for that?  To screw the folks out there who want the figure but not the game?   ???

I hope it works the same way as Canada is getting it... pay $5 for a pre-order and you get the figure.  That way anyone who wants the figure has a chance to get it without having to buy a $60 game that they can't use or don't want.

Agreed.

This is why I wish they would just come out and say what's going on with the figure.

At this point, my guess is that it will just simply be an online exclusive with either StarWarsShop.com or HasbroToyShop.com on the day the game is released. And even though the folks up in Canada got it for $5, we'll have to pay $15 to get it.

I'm curious, if there are any MISB collectors out there-- would you rather see the figure's face when you look at the packaged sample or do you prefer this quasi-diorama-ish packaging?  I thought the Endor and Hoth sets at Target last year were just about perfect (except maybe for the hidden Derlin repaint) when it came to showing off tons of toys in a great way, so this moisture farm set is a little jarring.

Speaking for myself - this exclusive sets me back $100 plus tax since I'll be getting two. Right there, I'm less than thrilled thanks to the price. It's not like I'm getting $150 worth of BMF value here. This set is hardly worth an eighth of the value of the BMF let alone a third. But I digress...

Like you, my opener side could really care less how it's packaged and as soon as new sculpts of Owen and Beru come out, these two figures go straight to the trash. It's really just a great chance to have the set piece, which isn't "great" - but it's "okay" and it will make a semi-nice display in my ANH cabinet.

My MISB side hates the way things are presented and yes, compared to the UBPs from Target last year, this thing looks like the same WalMart greeter who plans waves and case-packs also designed this. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this is an early sample and it gets fixed before mass production.

God, I need to get sleep, my answer sounds like a cheesy frosted mini-wheats commercial. My frosted side likes the Womprat, but my wheat side really likes looking at the ass of the Sandtrooper....  ::)

This is kind of nuts - or am I the only one who thinks so?

They ship a repack of the Anakin/Assassin Droid set in the Legacy packaging, label it #3 so packaged collectors would be compelled to make a purchase and then less than a month after those hit - there's a case of eight sets that includes SIX unique 2-packs.

Huh?

First off, why not include one of those six in the first wave and ditch the Anakin?

Second, why in cases of EIGHT do they not make the waves in counts of 2 or 4? Two of these sets should have been with Wave 1 and then that would mean that once you throw out the repack Anakin set, you'd have two waves of FOUR packs each and in each case 2x of each pack.

Look, I know this is mean and insulting, but isn't there a WalMart that could use a greeter in Pawtucket, RI? The only reason I ask is 'cause the guy at Hasbro who comes up with the waves and case pack ratios really needs to go, but since I don't want to see him out of a job, I'm sure he'd be useful over at the WalMart.  ::)

Where are they even being given out?

I think it's EB Games in Canada. The auction link posted goes to an auction where the seller is in Canada, so that makes sense. Heck if you were not an action figure collector and there were giving you the figure in-hand with the pre-order, why not pre-order as many as they'll let you and at $90 a piece, not only will it pay for the game, but it will give you a nice profit.

Heck, even here on a Star Wars forum, look how few of us overall were buying/posting/discussing this line compared to the total number of members.

Yeah - I really expected more Star Wars collectors to get behind this line. I think Hasbro expected more Star Wars fans to get behind the line as well. I think in 1982 Kenner hoped that more kids who were into Star Wars would be into Indiana Jones too.

While those of us here on this sub-board may find common ground between a Star Wars line and an Indiana Jones line, apparently those sentiments aren't very widespread. They weren't in 1982 and they aren't in 2008.

Like everyone is saying, this line would have done MUCH BETTER if they had started much earlier in the year and tried to get as much product into circulation BEFORE the fourth movie came out. Anticipation over the fourth film would have driven more collector interest in the line for a longer sustained period. They could have released waves for RotLA, ToD and TLC all before releasing a KotCS wave in May. Let the four waves ride out the summer and then hit us with a second RotLA wave around the holidays.

Wow - so this wave (and the "extra" figures that come with it) confirms that droid parts will change from wave-to-wave.

Am I the only one who finds this absolutely ridiculous?

So if I don't find the six figures from Wave 3 in Wave 3 cases then I'm running the risk of NOT getting the six Wave 3 figures with pieces of the black RA-7 droid?!?!?

The cases are TWELVE figures each. There are SIX figures in the wave. Pack 2x of each figure in the wave and CALL IT A DAY!

The Legacy Collection / Re: Recent Legacy Purchases
« on: August 25, 2008, 12:30 PM »
Picked up a few figures at WalMart over the weekend just for the sake of completing second Build-a-Droids.

Since I have opened 4x each of the Quad Canon Clone, Scuba Clone and Lancer Droid, I have three spare green R4's missing a leg. So I grabbed a second opener Obi-Wan to put at my desk at work and to allow me to display a third-leg-less version of the green R4.

Same thing is the case with the second wave's R7 - I've opened 3x each of the Mon Calamari and Quarren warriors so just to complete a second R7, I grabbed my second openers of Tiin and Padme - so I have now bought every figure in wave 2 at least three times. I told myself I wasn't going to buy un-necessary figures with this line, like I did with getting extra figures to fill in a second coin album with the TAC.

Unfortunately, my will power to hold out, didn't last long.

I also grabbed a second Ak-Rev so I could complete a second drum. I bought two Umpass-Stay figures so I could have a complete drum last year, so now I have two complete drums. I gave the extra leg to one of the green R4s from Wave 2.

I will say though, I definitely like this year's pack-in (droid parts) better than last year's (coins).

Isn't there also supposed to be an update of the Imperial Pilots evolution set?

My guess is that we're going to see cases of Rebel Pilots #2 and a new Imperial Pilots #2 at some point in the future.

I have one of the Rebel Pilots #2 set. It's the only "launch" item I'm still looking for to have an opener of. At this point, I'm more concerned with the influx of Comic packs, exclusive battle packs and Legacy Collection Wave 3 than I am with scoring another one of those Evolution sets.

Well, if you think about it - since they just seem to be giving them out for $5, there's nothing to say that you can't go to a bunch of stores and just keep pre-ordering the game for $5 and walking out with a figure each time.

I really wish they would just come out and reveal what the heck is going on with this figure.

Does anyone know how long Hasbro holds the license for this property, or how much they paid for it?

If I were to hazard a guess, I would say that they signed a deal that locked them in for the KotCS toys and toys for a possible fifth Indy movie.

My basis for this guess is based on their answers that referenced a possible Indiana Jones 5 in order for them to deliver on a Marcus Brody figure.

So, for a quick line that promoted a summer blockbuster (which it was). I think the line was a small-time success. It is NOT a long-term success since the line will barely see five waves of figures.

If there is a fifth Indy movie, they will probably do the same thing they did for this movie - one wave for the new movie and another wave dedicated to figures from the previous four movies. I think that this additional wave will be their clearing ground for figures of characters that fans/collectors will have voiced demand for: Belloqq in White Shirt & Panama Hat, Indy in Tuxedo, Donovan, Oxley, Mac, KotCS Marion, etc...

Those Senate Guards are pretty cool looking. Not quite sure what the significance is of the left shoulder/upper-arm armor piece, but otherwise, it's very clone-like.
