Revenge of the Sith / Re: Target Figure with Cup Sets
« on: April 30, 2005, 06:03 PM »
Today I saw three Obi-Wans and one Grievous. Still no sign of clones.

-Imperial Troops...  ANH Stormtrooper, Snowtrooper, Scouttrooper...  I'd take that in a heartbeat!

-Rebels...  Rebel Fleet Trooper, Hoth Rebel, Endor Rebel.  I'd take that even quicker. :)

Great ideas!

I still wish the clones in the current set were plain white infantry, because one can't very well army build if 1/3 are commanders (AOTC gold clone)....

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Parallels between the PT and the OT
« on: April 29, 2005, 07:23 PM »
Good list Matt. Personally I think Lucas went too heavy-handed on the OT parallels.

In future, Hasbro should make one or two definitive sculpts of core characters and recard them endlessly in a perpetual Hall of Fame assortment. How many new versions of Cantina Han and Arena Mace do we need anyway? Just pick one version and recard it forever.

In principle, I'm not against repacks, as long as they're chosen well. In fact I'd be perfectly content if 2006 was 50 - 75% repacks of hard-to-find figures. I'd happily buy into an OTC style line with deeper range and good distribution (I would have bought a lot of OTC but most were hard to find in my area and I'm not going to pay $15 apiece online).

Suggestions in no particular order:

POTF2 Bantha with Tusken

POTF2 Dewback, perhaps with slightly different accessories

Qui-Gon and Eopie

Holo Sid Holo Sid Holo Sid! :P This seems like an incredible no-brainer.

Sio Bibble

POTJ/Saga Imperial Officer, with a couple head variants

Ree-Yees

Oola and Salacious Crumb

Muftak and Kabe

Figrin D'an

TC-14

Blue Coruscant Guard

Coleman Trebor

Pablo-Jill

Episode I Battle droid

Imperial Officers Motti, Piett, whoever else

Max Rebo Band -- all

Saga Tatooine Camp Ambush Tusken

the astromechs from Amidala's starship (repacked on solo cards)

AAT Tank

SA Clone Trooper (let's face it, they could crank these out by the hundreds of thousands and it'd never become a pegwarmer)

Red ARC Trooper

Hailfire droid

A movie-style Asajj Ventress on solo card

Sebulba

McQuarrie concept stormtrooper

CW Animated Yoda and Dooku

Episode I Rune Haako

POTJ Sandtrooper with four variant shoulder pauldrons

Good battle droid, SBD, and droideka, without launching features. Colored BDs--security, pilot, commander.

Geonosian Fighter

Episode I Droid Scout Tank? I have one already but the packaging says they typically travel in threes.....

Repainted Wat Tambor -- I'm fairly satisfied with the sculpt, but in particular the skin is a way wrong shade of green.

Regular Sidious (I recently snagged a loose one, but it still seems dumb not to have this figure available)

all previous released Ewoks, plus "new" Ewoks kitbashed from mixed-and-matched parts

Full cases of OTC army builders -- biker scout, sandtrooper, stormtrooper

And whatever ROTS figures end up being rare (probably the later waves)

I believe it was Aladdin.

I also watched the VHS about 8 million times.

Are STAPs really in ROTS?  I hope so.

Yep, I saw them in a scan of some TCG cards.

EDIT: OK, I can't find the link where it was originally posted. I have the image saved on my hard drive but don't know how to upload it to anything. Suffice it to say it's a squad of STAPs on what is probably Kashyyyk.

I do want another Gunray... actually I'd like to see a redo of the TPM version with silk robes... most people might think I'm nuts, but I'd be all over an Evolution Pack of Nute Gunray.

Not nuts at all, Chewie. I'd buy it. :)

I should certainly have tried to be more clear.  I would like to see some of the Seperatist leaders.  However, I would like to see some of the characters who were not made.  Scott brought up Po Nudo, and I think that's a great choice.  There was also one figure who was rather shadowy in the Geonosian War Room.  Characters who have not been previously made interest me far more than yet another Nute Gunray, or some revision of Passel Argente.

I basically agree. Unused characters first. However I believe Nute is important enough and undergoes enough visual changes to justify a new figure. The others someday down the road.

I picked up loose POTF2 Chewie and SOTE Snoova (sans accessories) at CIII.

Man they are puny next to my other Wookiees. And they're absolute dwarves compared to the Sneak Preview -- a head shorter and 50% of the mass.

Granted the POTF2 and SOTE ones are way small compared to the human figures of their day.

But how many Nute Gunray's do we really need?

So far I only know of two:

Episode I Nute
AOTC Saga Screen Scene Nute

Each has a different costume, and from what I can tell he has yet a different costume--or at least a new hat--in ROTS. I don't think one from each movie is overkill. Look at the number of repeats of Tatooine Luke who only appeared that way in ONE movie or of Cantina Han who only wore that outfit 50% of the time thru the trilogy.

Great idea -- STAPs are awesome. :) And they are in ROTS again.

Added onto the jacked-up price, this really sucks. :'( I'll grab it if I can find it, but now I'm not gonna bust a nut hunting all over.

I like pretty much all of your list, Chewie. And DoctorPadawan, I really dig your MTT carrying case idea. :)

Here are ones I am most interested in:

Holo Sid Holo Sid Holo Sid! :P This seems like an incredible no-brainer.

Good battle droid, SBD, and droideka, without launching features. Colored BDs--security, pilot, commander.

Homing Spider Droid

Corporate Alliance Tank Droid

Re-re-release of Hailfire droid

Re-re-release of AAT (not sure if it's in ROTS but what the hey).

Re-release of Geonosian Fighter

Even re-release of Episode I Droid Scout Tank? I have one already but the packaging says they typically travel in threes.....  :-\

Repainted Wat Tambor -- I'm fairly satisfied with the sculpt, but in particular the skin is a way wrong shade of green.

Rune Haako/Lott Dod/Gilramos Libkath/whatever his name is -- the other Neimoidian from AOTC.

Toonbuck Toora

Tikkes -- right now I have POTJ Tessek standing in.

Since he's in all three prequels and has a comparatively high amount of dialogue, Nute Gunray is probably the only Separatist leader that could justify a solo carded release as opposed to a Screen Scene.

Neimoidian Pilot -- need more organic CIS troops, although the Neimodian Gunner is a step in the right direction.

How about a return to the Episode I two-packs with bonus battle droid? Or like the Wal-Mart Clone Wars packs with bonus clone. They could be a store exclusive of easily available ROTS figures -- ROTS Dooku with droid, ROTS Grievous with droid, Neimoidian Gunner with droid, etc. -- or special figures like ROTS Nute, Holo Sid, etc.

Or -- dare I dream -- two-packs of white SA clone (AOTC or ROTS) and a self-supporting battle droid. 8)

Purgatory: You have escaped damnation and made it to Purgatory, a place where the dew of repentance washes off the stain of sin and girds the spirit with humility. Through contrition, confession, and satisfaction by works of righteousness, you must make your way up the mountain. As the sins are cleansed from your soul, you will be illuminated by the Sun of Divine Grace, and you will join other souls, smiling and happy, upon the summit of this mountain. Before long you will know the joys of Paradise as you ascend to the ethereal realm of Heaven.

And I'm not even Catholic, so I guess that boots me down to Level 1. :P

Purgatory  Repenting Believers  High
Level 1 - Limbo  Virtuous Non-Believers  Low
Level 2  Lustful  Low
Level 3  Gluttonous  Moderate
Level 4  Prodigal and Avaricious  Low
Level 5  Wrathful and Gloomy  Moderate
Level 6 - The City of Dis  Heretics  Very Low
Level 7  Violent  Low
Level 8- the Malebolge  Fraudulent, Malicious, Panderers  Moderate
Level 9 - Cocytus  Treacherous  Low

I bought one of those at TRU some years back. The thing is awesome. A nifty sorta-EU addition to my Trade Federation ranks.

Well, I'm too damn lazy to welcome each of you individually, so, to all, welcome to Jedi Defender. Enjoy your stay, have fun, make friends, do whatever it is you do on a Star Wars board.

I too am a lazy butt, so:

Blanket welcome from Valin Kenobi to all new arrivals.
