Out of curiousity to see if anything happens, I added our "MN & Canuckia Store Reports" thread to my RS sig. I only have 3 posts at RS, so I highly doubt anything will come of it.  8)

Revenge of the Sith / Re: ROTS must have figures for you?
« on: April 1, 2005, 10:50 AM »
Over time I plan to get 75% of the basics, picking the best of the multiple releases like Obi-Wan and GG. But I'm a sucker for clones and every single Palps. ;)

These are my must haves:

All types of clone
All types of Palpatine
Battle droids, droidekas, Super BDs --- Believe it or not, I don't currently have a single droideka or SBD.
Grievous's Bodyguard (Battle Attack!) --- Just plain looks cool. Two.
Neimoidian Warrior --- Awesome-looking dude.
Wookiee Warrior --- Awesome-looking army builder.
Count Dooku (Sith Lord) --- Don't have any Dooku yet.
Bail Organa (Republic Senator) --- Sucker for anything Bail Organa.
C-3PO (Protocol Droid) --- Believe it or not I don't have a gold Threepio. Well, at one point I had the first POTF2 version, but I painted him silver to customize the Bespin protocol droid that told Threepio to go shove it. ;)
Padmé (Republic Senator) --- The only Padmé I have so far is EpI Tatooine peasant disguise.
Agen Kolar (Jedi Master) --- He is teh roXXorz!!!111! SA version of cool new Jedi.
Royal Guard (Senate Security) (red and blue versions)
Mon Mothma (Republic Senator)
--- I'm a fan of "Senate building"--think army building with Senators--so I need all three of these (multiples of the guards).
Ki-Adi-Mundi (Jedi Master) --- I've loved this character since Prelude to Rebellion #1, and I don't even have a figure of him. Up to now, that is.
Luminara Unduli (Jedi Master) --- SA version of cool Jedi. I like the character but missed the Saga version.
General Grievous (Exploding Body) --- This is the cloaked GG right? I only plan to get this version, except for the one that comes with the Wheelbike.
Tarkin --- Well DUH.
Ask Aak (republic Senator)
Meena Tillis (Republic Senator)
--- Senate builders.
Captain Antilles --- Can't go wrong with Alderaanians.
Mas Amedda (Republic Senator) --- Yes definitely. I have the POTJ version, but for some reason I really like this character and figure.

And my lesser priorities:

Tarfful (Firing Bowcaster!) --- Normally this would be on my list, but I already found him leaked about a month ago. :)
Mustafar Sentry --- Looks cool.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (Red Leader Pilot) --- Appears to be the best Obi of the bunch.
Plo Koon (Jedi Master) --- SA version of cool Jedi. Not as much of a priority, since I'm pretty pleased with the POTJ version.
Shaak Ti (Jedi Master) --- SA version of cool Jedi. Not as much of a priority, since I'm pretty pleased with the Saga version.
Saesee Tiin (Jedi Master) --- SA version of cool Jedi. But not as much of a priority since I'm pretty pleased with the Clone Wars version.
Aayla Secura (Jedi Knight) --- SA version of cool Jedi. Not as big a priority, since I have the Saga version.
Vader's Medical Droid (Chopper Droid) --- Intriguing.
Polis Massan (Medic) --- Intriguing.
Utapauan Warrior --- Looks really nifty.

Eventually I will get most of the rest (e.g., Yoda, Darth, and so on) but they are secondary.

You know what would be awesome: a 3-pack of troopers standing at attention. Much like the bootleg AOTC troopers. These wouldn't even need leg articulation, and only minimal arm artic.

The Clones aren't something I want to see variants in personally.  I'd sooner just have the one set to buy and be done with it, and let the SA bodysculpts get the variations then.

Good point.

As things stand now, I'm looking at getting 1 QuickDraw Clone, 2 of the SA (#40something), and however many of the 3-packs I can get my hands on. Mind you, that's just the white infantry, not including the Pilots, Officers, and other types.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: April/2005 - Your Plan of Action
« on: March 31, 2005, 02:02 PM »
TRU Midnight Madness. I'm only budgeting $30 for the event. One or two deluxe or small vehicles, and a couple of basic figures.

I'm a college student; I need to save some for the books to buy at the Matt Stover signing, for stuff to buy at Celebration III, and so on. But rest assured I'll be diligently plugging away all year in $10 - 20 increments. :)

In a way it's too bad I can't start off with a spectacular blaze of sound and fury like I'd hoped -- but on the other hand it prolongs the fun to acquire them in bits and pieces through the spring and summer ... and fall ... and winter ... and following spring ... and summer ... and then on 75% off clearance ... and so on.

So keep in mind that this list is my long-term plan.

Basic, Deluxe, and Small and Medium Vehicles.
About 75% of these items. Picking the best version of "multiple release" characters like Obi-Wan, Anakin, Yoda, Grievous. One opener per, and multiples of army builders.

Exclusives
Holo Yoda: yes.
Lava Vader: screw that!
Wal-Mart Early Bird BS: see above.

Battle Arenas.
Probably pass. Clearance maybe.

AttackTix
A few. Waiting til I see them in person.

Force Battlers.
Probably Anakin and Obi, depending how they look in person. Later on, Chewbacca and Clone.

12".
I don't collect those, so pass except for the Clone Trooper.

ARC-170
Yeppers.

repaint Gunship
I don't have either previous version, so yep.

Playset
Pass unless I see an extremely good deal on clearance.

Unleashed
Anakin, Obi, Asajj Ventress (later wave), Clone (later wave). Pass on Grievous unless it looks really spectacular in person. I'm not a fan of the GG concept and up to now I haven't collected Unleashed.

Galactic Heroes
I've only gotten one GH set so far (Tusken and Jawa), and here I'll just get 1 or 2, like Chewie & Clone and maybe Yoda & Palps. Not a priority though.

Jedi Force
Haven't been paying attention to this line, so I'll take a look in person, but pass unless there's something really spiffy like a clone (noticing a theme here? ;)).

Darth Tater
Pass unless $1.50 clearance.

Role-play
Pass unless clearance. Maybe the Chewie watergun or bowcaster, or Yoda's saber.

Die Cast & Micro Things
Sounds promising; waiting till I see them in person so I can figure out exactly what they are.

Fast Food Happy Meal Gimmicks
Wait and see.

Books & Comics
One of pretty much everything (Visual Dictionary, Incredible X-Sections, Essential Guides, adaptations, whatever else), however I'm not touching any of these until after I see the flick. The one exception is the novelization, which I'll get at the Matt Stover signing event.

Awesome! Too bad these don't come out for a while yet. :(

The "multiple flavors" situation could be hairy because the new clones come in more colors than just the four ranks and white--there's the blue SpecOps trooper, the one with the small burgundy insignia as seen on the 12-inch doll,  the red-checkered Shocktrooper, the gold ARC-style troopers with Aayla Secura on Felucia, and even more than one helmet variation (Cmdr Baccarra).

It'll be interesting to see how the color variants all shake out.

I got that ad in last sunday's paper here in MN... you might want to stop into the local WM and see if they still have them laying around.

Very nice! I'll have to see if ours has been recycled yet or not; hopefully it's still around somewhere. If not, I'll take a trip to pick one up.

<March 31 Edit: Yep, I found it. :)>

If they are "rebooting" the line and starting over symbolically with the Luke, Leia, R2 and Chewie - I hope (for sanity's sake), when they do this, it means that they're going to handle the line a bit more like it was handled during the vintage days.

There was only ONE Tatooine Luke from ANH - sure he got re-released under the ESB and ROTJ banners, but there was never a second, third, fourth, etc... sculpt of the figure.

I would be happy if they use this line to put stakes in the ground and say "This is the ultimate Tatooine Luke and we'll never make another version of Luke in this outfit." If done with the right amount of accessories (long rifle, floppy hat, tan poncho, swappable belts (black vs. Stormtrooper) , binoculars, imperial blaster and lightsaber (lit and unlit)) and a high-level of articulation (at least 15 points) -- then I'd be okay with that.

If you think about it this would help the line survive the longest. Constantly re-issue the exact same figure in the exact same packaging and your profit margin goes up....................

My thoughts exactly, Pete. Get one or two definitive sculpts of core characters and recard them endlessly in a perpetual Hall of Fame assortment. This would free up a lot of production space and shelf space for bit players and background aliens--as well as repacks of some harder-to-find figures--red ARC, Holo Sidious, etc. (I just keep banging away on my Holo Sidious drum don't I? ;))

I know this is the wrong answer ;), but I actually like it.

Of course story-wise it doesn't make much sense for Plo to copy Ani's paintjob....

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Would you like that "wookie-sized"?
« on: March 29, 2005, 08:47 PM »
I was looking at Rorrworr earlier though and he's pretty darn small, smaller than the POTF2 Chewie I think.  Gonna look like a little baby compared to the Warrior.

Well Rorworr is a young Wookiee after all. Whilst the warrior is an adult in his physical prime.

Allright, thanks. That's what I thought. Good to know I'm not going crazy. ;)

But my "Too many damn multipacks" comment stands.

"Eeth Koth was killed on Geonosis according to the Power of the Jedi Sourcebook, but he nor his death are shown onscreen during the the battle. It was further confirmed in Inside the Worlds of Attack of the Clones that both Koth and Tarados Gon, a Klatooinian Jedi, died aboard a gunship that was shot down during the Battle of Geonosis. He has been replaced on the Jedi Council by fellow Zabrak, Agen Kolar."
