Title: DC Cloth-Retro Line
Post by: Paul on March 4, 2010, 03:38 PM
I got Green Arrow a month ago, but today I got the entire first wave: Superman, Green Lantern, Lex Luthor and Sinestro.

I have not cracked open the case yet, but I will get pics up later if anybody is interested.

I can't wait to see what the removable  Cowl (sp?) Batman (the headgear did not show at Toy Fair) AND the Figure that was not shown, but the designers really were upset was not there... I was sworn to secrecy but let's just say, he may have been there but faster than my camera could catch him.

I was thinking about picking up this line until I read about the low quality of the figures from people at Matty's boards.  I'm still looking to see if I can find positive reviews.

Saw Green Lantern at TRU today, wasnt terrible but not my thing. I had always wanted to get more Mego figures but these don't give me the same feel.

My local TRU had these today. Pretty cheap looking but maybe that's the point.

I saw one each of Green Lantern and I believe Sinestro the last time I was at our TRU as well.  I don't have the nostalgia for this line as much as others, but I could see the appeal.  I did have a MEGO Spider-Man when I was a kid, and really played with that a lot back then.

I finally opened all my figures today.

My 2 year old (who has not been exposed to any Super Heroes, Star Wars or GI Joes) grabbed Superman and I said "He can fly, like Jay Jay the jet plane"... he began making "soaring" sounds and swooshing the man of steel around the house and then spun in circles till he couldn't stand up.

Made these things worth twice the price.

A buddy was over and he made the ultimate comment for those of us feeling the nostalgia for these... "These things are as cool as our memory makes us think the old ones were" ... or something to that effect.

Looking forward to the second wave for sure.

I picked up Batman and Aquaman at TRU the other day.  I would have grabbed Two Face also but his nose had a big black spot on it.

$20 a pop is pricey but at least it is not 10 waves of 4 every year, there will only be 8-12 a year of these things and I doubt they hit many truly obscure characters.

My Daughter saw pics of the Wonder Woman and Cheetah from SDCC and is now fully interested in the line.

I saw something about Mattel working on fixing the bodies.  Good news if it's true.

Are these heroes wearing cloth emblems or they are made of stickers (like 30 years ago)?

Cool photos on entertainment earth

I wish I had had this Batman when I was a child.

Got the most recent wave in today from Entertainment Earth (thanks for everybody who clicks the banner and buys stuff)

Flash is pretty cool.  I got to see a sneak peak of him at Toy Fair last year but they wouldn't let me take pictures.  They upgraded the boots.

My daughter can now play Superheroes with my son.  They are both stoked.

Hopefully Jeff and Rob can get some good pics of the next waves.  I know there are some Green Lantern themed ones coming too.
