Title: 30AC #02 Galactic Marine
Post by: CloneCommander1 on June 16, 2006, 10:36 PM
Well, according to the Q&A at Yakface (http://www.yakface.com), we will get galactic marine figures in early '07.
WOO HOO!

I know, that's awesome news.  Looks like I can quit trying to customize those finally and get a squad of 4-6 of them.

I'm officially psyched. But honestly, I never really urged Hasbro to make these. I thought "Meh, they're okay". But now seeing that there is proof, I'm ecstatic! :D

I didn't spot the word "basic" in there though...

I hope it's part of a battlepack, so I can pick up 3 or 4 at a time. That's make everyone's job a little easier!!!

I'm gonna just hope for the best...  optomism and all that.  Super articulated in the basic line with both blaster styles. :)  No half-assing, no repainting, no part swapping, no kit bashing, no battlepacking (the likelihood of a new figure is slim), etc...

And I just hope they're REALLY abundant too of course...  Short scene, but they had one of the most "realistic" looking battle sequences I thought...  And intriguing.  I'd really hope Hasbro knocked this one out of the park and didn't skimp on it.  He requires the best any army builder can get.

I love the optimism Jesse.   :)

Qui George, some sort of Battle Pack would rule.  I'd personally like to see the following -

Galactic Marine x 2
ROTS Battle Droid x 2
Spider Droid (or whatever those tall funky looking droids are)

 :)

How 'bout a BP kinda like Mace Windu's squadron?

"Ki-Adi's Squad"

RotS Ki-Adi
Commander Bacara (RotS)
Galactic Marine x3 (x2? This is Hasbro, they would probably pack in a Clone Pilot or something)

That does sound like a good idea since practically everyone buys at least 3 anyway.  I like the idea of battle packs like Mace's little squad.

Sounds like a good formula.  I could see it called something like "Ambush on Mygeeto" or "Treachery on Mygeeto"

It probabyl does make more sense to set it up with Ki Adi Mundi and Bacara, but dangit I want more Battle Droids.   ;)

If it is a Battlepack, this is what the perfect combination would be:

3x Galactic Marine w/ Heavy DC-15 And DC-15 Rifle Each
2x ROTS Battle Droid w/ Battle Droid Blaster

This is what Hasbro will give us:

2x E1 Ki-Adi-Mundi w/ Lightsaber
2x POTF2 Lobots
1x Galactic Marine w/ E-11

 :P

It should NOT be part of a battle pack. no matter what the BP is, Hasbro always screws it up. It should be a single carded igure, and that would make everyone happy. And, this is probably the 2nd most wished-for clone ever (1st being Cody). If they rip us off like they did on Cody and Scorch, I will be furious >:(

So, SA would be fine with me. I could care less about a removable helmet.

It might be cool if it was this battle pack:

2 x Galactic Marines
1 x Octuptarra Droid

Over at TheJawa someone suggested making two packs. Something like 2/3 evolutions. So it'd be a white clone/ST, BARC Trooper/Biker Scout, Snowtrooper/Galactic Marine.

Of course, living in Holland, my luck will run out. I won't be able to buy them in time, have to resort on eBay, better wait 5 years till prices have dropped and then score some beat up near vintage Galactic Marines.... And I'm being optimistic  ;D

I'm with you though: Hasbro better not mess this one up, like they usually do so well. So no ' action features'  like blowing-in-the-wind face mask or a neat Bacara's rifle laser flash reflection kinda thing. No, full SA, softgoods and removable helmets please.  :)

Yeah but that's actually my intellectual property as I suggested the idea around the time of Attack of the Clones.  I'm glad others such as Nicklab are coming around to my point of view though, hopefully Hasbro will as well.

Me likey your thinking!! I like the idea of an Order 66 wave, although I can see all the re-hashes already. Maybe they could have "new" Jedi figures, like Blaster-burn Ki-Adi-Mundi, Crispy Toast Plo Koon, Shot-in-the-back Aayla Secura, Vader-Slashed Padawans, and new sculpt Jedi Cin Drallig.

501st Trooper (SA clone re-paint)

My Order 66 wave, all SA (12 figures), no action-eatured, oversized weapons.

Palpatine (soft goods red cloak)
Galactic Marine (blaster/rifle, soft goods skirt)
Commander Gree (removable helmet/head, macrobinocs, film paint job, blaster/rifle)
Commander Neyo (blaster/rifle)
Utapau Airborne Trooper (blaster/rifle)
Commander Bly (blaster/rifle)
Commander Appo (blaster/rifle)
Cin Drallig (I would prefer non-holo, though it'd not be movie accurate)
Commander Bacara (blaster/rifle)
Padawan (Bear Cub Clan) 2-pack
Anakin Skywalker (soft goods cloak/swappable heads (1 normal/1 Sith eyes)
Kashyyyk Scout Trooper (blaster/rifle)

Man, I hit 12 already!! There's tons more to add.

i wouldn't really mind if they did even a really nice upper body articulation, arms, wrist, shoulders etc.. with a battle stance on the legs, somthing half way decent. of course i'd love to see the sa marine, but i'll be basiclly happy as long as it dosn't have any flippin' action feature, like baccara!

action features held the rots line back so much. if they had never produced action feature figures, they would have had the money to make all the great figures super articulated.

Myths:  Archetypes, an idea explored in great detail by Joseph Campbell (and to an extent, by Psychologist Carl Jung and his idea of the collective unconscious) that purports that many stories throughout the history of the world carry similar structures and characteristics across cultures and differing civilizations.  A myth can also refer to something that is seen as an urban legend (e.g. alligators in the sewers or the abominable snowman) as there is no evidence to either support nor contradict the erroneous attributions of truth or fiction to the subject.

Fact:  The ROTS Commander Bacara figure sucks.

Fact:  The ROTS Commander Bacara figure sucks.

There was no way in hell that I could express that sentiment as appropiately as you just did.  If I had not paid ~$5 for Bacara I would be using him to wipe my ass.

Edit:  the fact that he is made out of hard plastic would prevent me from the butt wiping but believe me that the sentiment is as true as the sun is bright.

various clones that have been mentioned in this thread - the more the merrier
some new Jedi figures (e.g. Cin Drallig, padawan 2pks, etc.)
possibly a new SA Sidious... since he gave the Order and all

Hasbro's idea of an Order 66 wave...

repack- 2002 Kit Fisto
repack- 2002 Luminara Unduli
repack- 2002 Shaak Ti
repack- PotJ Saesee Tiin
repack- RotS 'Jedi Kick' Obi-Wan
repack- RotS Bacara

You can't forget ROTS Windu in the Order 66 wave. I think it's odd that once Hasbro thinks they have the best sculpt of a figure they beat it to death and if Hasbro doesn't know yet that the ROTS Windu is not a good looking figure.

This is true, but I was referring more to the fact that he's labeling the Galactic Marine, the "Galactic toilet."  Brick in The Legend of Ron Burgundy made a similar remark.

So I'm sticking with 15 y/o.

Not that there is anything wrong with that.  Just an observation.

So? IMO the TSC Naboo Flight Crew is a farrr better figure than the Galactic toilet or whatever you call him.

You and your pubescent love for that crappy Naboo flight guy.  Is that a fetish you have?

While he suck he is an easy fix. Just get your #41 and cut the belt off then just swap gear and head and you have your perfect Baccara! No paint required.
Now you got the Platoon to smoke Ki-Adi!

Bacara's hand sticking out reminds me of "ten second" Tom in 50st dates.  It is likes he is walking around yelling "Hi, I am commander Bacara".  My wife and I were cracking up over this, maybe it is just us.

Great figure, really looking forward to it.  My favorite clones are the ones that have that little bit of a "link" to the OT troops (ROTS clone, BARC Trooper, Galactic Marine, etc.) - and this figure looks really nice.  I hope to get 4 or 5, but I'm sure they won't be too easy to find unfortunately.

Count me in for a whole lotta cloning with this one.  I need at least 20 of him I'm figuring if not more...  He's looking to be SA or damn close to it, and with the necessities like knees, elbows, wrists, etc...

This is a really sharp looking figure to me, and so I'm excited about it.  The Clones were appealing to me though so I'm pretty happy for this one.  It's the uniqueness of the outfit that I really like about it though.  It's so different that it's a breath of fresh air compared to the regular troopers in new flavors.  Not that I don't like those, but they are pretty repetitive after a while.

He looks great. I'll go for about four. I seem to reign my army building in at about 4 or 5 of each type of trooper that I get. With so many different types, the overall army ends up so big that I haven't felt the need for more than 6 or 7 max of any one type. This looks to be a sweet one, though!

Seriously. I haven't seen a single one of these guys (or the parjai trooper for that matter) in reality. All I've seen is pics of these guys online, and—being someone who uses photoshop every day—I'm well aware that images can be faked. I refuse to believe that the GM even actually exists...its all a hoax. I know it.

All kidding aside, is this guy even shipping still? The only figures I've seen from this wave are Obi-Wan and R2. I managed to get the SBD and Mace from toysrus.com, but that's it.

He is out there, just tough to find thanks to the army builders I'd assume.

I wouldn't worry too much as the Galactic Marine (and Airborne Trooper too) are both shipping at 1x or 2x per case for the next few waves...

Galactic Marine:
- 2x per case in Wave 1, Revision 0 (http://www.entertainmentearth.com/aff-home.asp?id=JE-405087801&number=HS87500A)
- 2x per case in Wave 1, Revision 1 (http://www.entertainmentearth.com/aff-home.asp?id=JE-405087801&number=HS87500A1)
- 1x per case in Wave 2, Revision 1 (http://www.entertainmentearth.com/aff-home.asp?id=JE-405087801&number=HS87500B1)
- 2x per case in Wave 3, Revision 0 (http://www.entertainmentearth.com/aff-home.asp?id=JE-405087801&number=HS87500C)

Add to that, that I feel sure we'll see army builders remixed late into 07...  Hell I've seen Riekean remixed just recently.  How could they not remix figures like the Marine?  Lately I've noticed him here and there though, chilling on the pegs.  Wave 2 seem to have taken some precedence over the army builders of Wave 1.

I have four and mine all stand pretty well. It's definitely one of my top favorite clone trooper figures.

Shortly after getting them, I finally decided to salvage a decent Bacara out of the junk Hasbro sold us. I put his parts on a #41. I put him and his troops on my desk the other night in a recreation of the their Order 66 scene. It's nice to finally be able to pose Bacara; I've got him looking like he's skidding to a stop to fire at Mundi, like in the movie. It looks pretty cool! 8)

Mine all stand fine...  Their knees do pose a problem, somewhat, but they still stand fine.  The ankles help with that completely...  I've gotten mine into a cool crouched running pose.  That's my fave so far, for displaying them, since they were seen crouching and moving forward with Mundi.

it really depends on the way you position their feet i guess ( ankles bent all the way to the front and all)
im starting to think that the marine is semi warming is because his problem standing. the only problem i see with him anways..well ok and his kama is annoying at times.im thinking i may give him some justice though and pick anymore i see that are warming...only if I can find a mundi first though...kinda pointless getting all these guys for a mundi killing scene especially when you dont have the soon to be dead.

No. I don't really do any customizing. I knew Bacara's head didn't fit right, but I was tired of not having a poseable one. I just bit the bullet and made the swap. I find if you put the head on all the way, it drops all the way to the shoulders and looks like he has no neck. I just put it on until it stays where I want it, and stop there. It's not a proper fit; you just have to balance it where you want it.
Title: Re: 2007 #02 Galactic Marine
Post by: Jesse James on May 12, 2007, 01:53 AM
What I did is this...

Take #41 Clone & Bacara...

Take off Bacara's head, and cut the ball off his neckpost perfectly.  Cut the ball off the #41's neckpost as well.  Take plastic welder (Plast-Struct) and weld the Bacara Neckball onto the #41 body, let it cure overnight at least.  Paint any possible white showing with just a dab of flat black, very simple...

Pop on Bacara's head.

The problem I ran into more was getting Bac's shoulder pad onto the #41 body.  I tried stretching it after a boil but it was gonna tear I think.  I wound up cutting a groove into the figure's back and under his armpits that fit the straps of the shoulder/chest pad into it perfectly, and allowed the accessory to fit the figure perfectly.  A way to avoid this would've likely been using the #6 Clone (Quick Draw) as opposed to teh SA figure.  It has a smaller "backpack" piece to it and is generally thinner built I think.  Changing neckballs would've been the same procedure (if you needed to change it at all?).

I also swapped out the left hands of Bacara and the #41.  The Bacara hand is cool and unique, and good for "calling troops forward".
