I looked for a thread on this line but I did not find one - does anyone else here collect these?
I just started by ordering some, errr, too many last night. My wife is going to kill me....
Here is what I think I am going to be collecting from the line that is either currently released or slated to be released (I would like to say limiting my self to). Basically this breaks down to The Predator from the first movie and all of the Predators in Predator 2 - these Predators are called "The Lost Tribe":
S7 – City Hunter
*S6 – Scout, Warrior, and Lost this is the current wave
S5 – Snake, Guardian, Stalker
S4 – Shaman, Boar
S3 - Elder
most likely nothing from series 1 or 2
and then hold off and wait for an updated classic Predator
and here is what I ordered last night: :-X
I ordered all 6 figures of series 5 and 6 from TRU.com ordering them two at a time. The reason I ordered this way was because they are doing a buy one get one 40% off promo and only one discount per transaction. Thankfully I also have shoprunner free shipping through the end of the year so shipping was all free....
Then I ordered both Shaman and Boar from amazon.com at just under $16 a piece and both were eligible for free shipping so I went that route.
so really all I need is the Elder and City and Jungle and I think I will have a pretty kickin collection. I will try and hold myself back from collecting outside of the first 2 movies - except for Big red and maybe the phasing Falconer in series 7 - they look pretty cool.

Oh yeah, these are just, plain awesome. I've picked up pretty much all of them (the ones from Predator and Predator 2, not the other movies), and I love them. I only passed on two of them: Snake and Stalker. Snake just didn't really get me as amped up as the other ones, and Stalker is too similar to Boar. They're both very cool, and I may circle back and pick them up eventually, but for now I'm happy owning all the rest of them.
I really want them to revisit Elder and Classic (or as he's called on the AVP boards "Anytime") with the upgraded articulation.
While we're on the topic, have you seen the shots for the upcoming Dutch figures (http://www.avpgalaxy.net/forum/index.php?topic=44858.msg1433093#msg1433093)? They'll apparently feature the same articulation, which is awesome. Now if we could just get a Jesse Ventura with a gatling gun...

yeah an update on my ordering. TRU sent me 2 Guardians and no Stalker but thye have already fixed it by sending me a replacement and me shipping them back the extra figure.
Also, my Boar and Shaman came from Amazon.com and one of them had the bubble completely separated from the card and the other one was almost all of the way off. I am an opener anyway so I wasn't mad, but I did think it was wrong for the seller to list them as "new" so I proceeded to leave feedback stating the item was not as described. As I started to select the negative option for the review amazon's website asked me to contact customer service before doing so - so I did via chat.
I explained it to the customer service rep and she apologized and asked if I would like to return them, I said no I will keep them, I just wanted the seller to not list items like this as "new". The rep understood and said she would get the listing changed. She then offered me, without me expecting anything, half off my order (so basically one of the figures free). I said sure!
And finally, especially since I felt like I got a free figure, I sprung the little extra cash for the Elder on ebay. There was a loose one up for a starting bid of $14 with a Buy It Now of $22. I just hit the buy it now, though I could have bid or been more patient - but I certainly don't feel like I got a bad deal. I hope he makes the shipping ok as I have heard he is kind of fragile.
So now I am left with needing the 2 main Predators from the first two movies.
I don't think I want more than one of each so it comes down to Helmet vs No Helmet.
The City Hunter (P2) is coming out with Helmet in Wave 7 and he has good accessories and all the articulation updates this line has seen.
And also, from what I have heard via speculation on other threads, Jungle aka Anytime from P1 will pretty much obviously see some sort of release when Arnold hits the shelves - I guess this is the 25th anniversary of the first movie.
so here is a question I asked on anotheR forum:
Between the Jungle Hunter from Predator and the City Hunter from Predator 2, which do you think has their mask off longer in their movie?
Or, which of the two do you feel is more well known for his look with his helmet off?

As for the helmet, the P2 guy, or "Pussyface", as he called in the fan forums, definitely has his mask off longer. It's actually off for the whole final battle. But since I have a few Predators with no mask (Elder, Lost, Shaman), I opted to get the masked versions of both "main" Preds.
I bought the TRU 2-pack (still available at some stores) and sold the half-cloaked Berserker. I have to say, I love the masked P-face Predator, mainly because I had this poster (http://veryfinenearmint.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/predator2foldout.jpg) hanging in my room for pretty much my whole teen years, and that shows him masked and holding the spear. The 2-pack also includes a skull/spine and a Predator skull. I didn't collect the Rodriguez Predators movie figures, but I liked the Predator skull accessory.
It would be ideal if NECA would give us both heads and have them be interchangeable, but that doesn't seem to be happening.

well the guy I purchased Elder Predator from on ebay still has not shipped my item and I bought it on the 18th. I kind of expected it would take him a while though because he was saying he was going to wait ship it until all of his auctions ended. Ok, I can understand that.
Oh but wait, guess what? I went and looked at where the items are shipping from and he is listed as... can you guess it??? NY, NY................. I am betting I am going to have to file with ebay on this one to get my money back on it. I am thinking this seller might have bigger issues to deal with other than ship me out my figure...

Back on the 1st he wrote me this in regards to me asking him if he was going to be able to ship the item. I was also sympathetic towards the situation of everyone over there - I didn't want to sound as if any problems he was experiencing paled in comparison to me not getting my Predator in a timely fashion. :P This is what he responded back with:
Hey, yes, as soon as post offices open. I'm in NY, the hurricane has them closed.
So I waited and then I emailed him yesterday since there has still been no indication he shipped the item. Today was the latest date that I should have received it by - this includes his already extra long time to ship he put in the auction.
Still no response so I think sometime tomorrow I am going to notify ebay so that they are at the early stages of being involved and I dont end up with nothing for my money.

I had some post office problems earlier this week, but that does sound a bit strange. I guess it depends on which part of NY he's in. If he's in lower Manhattan, he's probably in a bad way. If not, then who knows.

yeah he did not respond to my message I sent him two days ago on the 7th so I just now opened a case with Ebay. I hope the seller is ok and everything....

Elder finally made it to me. My nine Predators from the "Lost Tribe" are now complete. now to figure out which versions of City and Jungle I will be getting. Still debating "Big Red"

Sorry, had to do it... I've been trying very, very hard to stay away from Neca figures due to limited space, but the combination of this wave and the recent Prometheus figures are making it difficult to resist. Both versions of Dutch looks terrific, and the Predator looks badass.

And yeah I feel ya on trying to resist these. I had to cave in though, they are too, too awesome. 8)

Glad to hear the Elder finally arrived!
I'm really looking forward to the Dutch figure with the vest, since that's really the iconic Arnold look from Predator. I guess that's mainly because it's the cover image, so I can't wait to add that to my collection.
I've been posing my Predators with my DCUC figures (all Batman-related, because I've always felt that Batman would be the perfect character to square off against the Predator (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jOZVp9NFhQE)), but I think this Arnold figure will throw the scale out the window, at least as far as Batman is concerned. Harley Quinn, Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Robin, etc can all be smaller, since they were smaller characters.
Luckily there's a new super-articulated Arkham Asylum Batman (http://media.dcentertainment.com/sites/default/files/Articulated_Batman_576.jpg) being released early in 2013. ;)
As for Big Red, I do like him...I'm not sure if I'll pick him up, but he is very, very cool.
I bought the Chair Suit Engineer from Prometheus last week...very cool figure, and the closest thing to the "Space Jockey" we'll probably ever get. I'm interested to see NECA's new Aliens figures as well, since mine are from McFarlane, which means they're only good for one pose. I'd like to pick up a few Aliens to square off against the Preds.

thought I would throw this in here - yesterday NECA announced that they are going to be doing a 3 3/4 Gears of War line. My first thought was "SWEET, I hope this opens the doors for the possibility of their being a 3 3/4 Predator line!"
I am not certain how many 3 3/4 lines NECA has done, but I would think that if they are doing one for Gears of War, that there should be a connection for considering a Predator line in that scale since the 7 inch scale is so darn popular.

I guess NECA has already shot down this line in a 3 3/4 scale because they say the deco is already too hard at the 7 inch scaled line. They made it sound like 3 3/4 would not be possible.

Just got back from TRU and they had 3 of Big Red and 2 Falconers. I had $15 TRU reward buck to blow (they expire after today) and I was on the fence about Big Red anyway, so needless to say Big Red is now at home and opened and on display.

NECA really has done some great work with all of their licenses. The Predators all look pretty awesome when I see them in store. Hell, I even like what they've done with the Engineers from Prometheus!
I'd love to see them take on some other licenses. A NECA line for Game of Thrones would be amazing!

NECA's kicked ass on this line. Not into buying a scale other then the 3-3/4" otherwise I'd be all over these. I did get the predator hound 'cause that actually works well as a beast in my little Star Wars world.

yeah the wall is cool. I think they are expecting it to retail for around $50 and they will only be doing one run on it so it will be limited. Also is expected to only come with the big T-rex type skull. And they said TRU will NOT be carrying it - no word on who will be yet.

I just really hope it's not a convention exclusive. But I would buy it anywhere as long as I can get it online.

yeah, and I am sure this is pretty limited. Maybe NECA got fewer orders than they anticipated and they had to up the price?
They just said on twitter that much of it is resin and it weighs about 8 lbs.

2 separate masks. A real Predator head couldn't actually fit under the mask and still retain the same look/shape
In other news - my collection is so massive now! I gotta build a shelf display area for all of these guys.
I even really like the Kenner Predators.
