Also - I like how you have both versions of Zutton next to each other there, and your cantina is nicely filled out there without too many figures crowding it.  Sometimes it's hard to not overcrowd a scene.   :-\

Huh?  I do have both versions of Zutton Snaggletooth (blue & red), but they are not next to each other.  The blue version of Zutton is seated with Greedo, and the red Zutton is on the other side of the bar by himself.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: radio stations changing format
« on: March 2, 2007, 11:17 AM »
Here in San Antonio, a long time POP station changed to a new format for radio: play everything w/o any DJs.  Originally, a station in Austin changed to become BOB FM.  It had a simple slogan, "We play whatever we want to play."  And they do, from rap to rock to pop to oldies to 70s music to 80s to current music.  Similar to your experience, you rarely if ever here something repeated.

Well, a couple of months ago, the SA station also changed to JACK FM, a "cousin" of BOB FM.  According to several news stories, this may be a future trend as it allows a station to save money on local gimicks and DJs, and play music fo everyone to listen to.

But the more and more radio becomes monopolized by Clear Channel or constant format changes, satelitte radio seems more appealing.  Fortunately, my local rock statio has been there since before the stone age.  They've never let me down!

Looks like that's just a date posted on some European music store web site... nothing official.

Well if we go by the "official" date.......I'll let you guys know what I think of the album this Tuesday!  ::)

Hey guys, some of us are waiting until April 3.  How about a spoiler alert?  >:(

Warning, there are spoilers in this thread.

Kevin

 :D ;D

Those songs have been out for a while now, and unless you've heard them before, the titles of those songs are worthless.

But sure, put me down as "can't wait until April 3rd"....... ::)

Here is a pic of my ever-changing Cantina diorama.  Not as nice as DAIGO-BAH, but I will be happy to get those corner pieces.  There are more pics of this in the Collection's forum.

Small update:

Updated Anakin & Padme wedding scene (corrected AOTC C3PO):

Here are a couple shots of the improving Cantina diorama.  It started with Djas Puhr a long time ago, but got more attention with the addition of the Modes Band and Hem & Momaw last year.  The "new-but-soon-to-change-again" Mos Eisley Cantina diorama:

I'm not much of a critic, but to me, it's very generic-sounding, both lyrically and musically, and Axl sounds terrible in much of it.  There are some decent songs, I suppose--but only because there has to be:  "Better," "There Was a Time," and (despite the horrid title) "The Blues" are okay.  But overall, if the finished album sounds anything like the stuff here (some of which is several years old), I'd have to ask:  Sixteen years since the last album, and this is what he's got to show for it?  I hope I'm wrong, and I hope the album's great, but I gotta admit--I'm not setting my sights too high.

What do you want or hope the album sounds like?

I didn't get a chance to download this last night, so I'll try again tonight.  While I really like songs like "There Was A Time" and "The Blues", I hope the album (if it is ever released) is not filled with slower-tempo songs like those two.  I really like "Better" and the raw, in-your-face sound it has.  "I.R.S." is also good, but not as heavy.  If the album is filled with songs like "T.W.A.T." and power ballads, I'll still like it but won't be blaring it on my stereo too often unless I'm in a tired, calm mood.

Give me an album with songs like "Better", and I'll be happy.  Either way, no matter what comes out, everyone will call it a disappointment.  Nothing can live up to the myth or hype.

As for Velvet Revolver, I have their first album.  And it is a good rock album, but I never liked the polish sound it has.  Slash's riffs are best suited for a hard rock sound, and Weilend's vocals have become very laid back.  I am big STP fan, but ever since the 2nd album (Purple?), Weilend's vocals have been anything but Hard Rock.  That being said, "Interstate Love Song" is one of my all-time favs!

I brought these posts over from the JABBA'S PALACE wave thread:

or this

Thanks, I dug out my bar pieces this morning and if you put the regular pieces back to back there is enough room between the bar tops (about 1.5") for Wuher to stand, schlepp out drinkings and be an *******. So, you could get away with having 4 corner pieces and 2 straight piece to build a "mini" bar.

Absolutely- not to mention that the curved pieces will not make an accurate curve size for the bar.  Not to come down on it for those collectors excited about it, but here is a fairly accurate dimensions pic of the bar from my Cantina dio:

I'm working on my Cantina diorama, so these ideas are intriging.  I'm not building a full set like Daigo-Bah, but the bar spacing is going to be tricky.  I'll post some photos in the next week or two.

I'm really looking forward to the corner pieces and the two new Cantina aliens.  Never cared before, but last years SAGA new Cantina figs & the re-release of the Cantina band got me going!  ;D

While we're on the topic of sharing things:

Chinese Democracy crap

It's not the album, but instead, a bunch of live and studio stuff.  Some of it, you've probably heard before; some of it, you probably haven't.  I know there were a couple songs in there that I'd never heard before.

I hope this stuff gets a whole lot better for the actual album. . .

Thanx for sharing.  Sorry I don't have anything for "Show & Tell" today.  :P

What didn't you like about it?  I'll download this when I get home tonight.

This one?

She is beautiful, no doubts there.  But I thought she could sing until I heard her screaming/singing at the Oscars, her and Jennifer Hudson.  OUCH!  Even the "critics" agreed that their performance was horrible.  Perhaps everyone changed their votes after the the performance and awarded the Oscar to Ethridge instead.

Where is Simon Cowell when you need him.  >:(

Some of the darker pics are very difficult to see on my monitor at work, but the lighting and special effects really shine!  All of your new photos look 1000x better than the originals.  Great shots to no accompany a great story.  Keep up the excellent work, CHEWIE.  And I will patiently await the death of Freelo!  8)

You guys are always so excited to hear all the details on the new album--you should really think about signing up for my "Can You Believe Duff Quit the Band?/New Album Updates!" weekly ListServ, which I've been faithfully maintaining since 1998.  I mean, all the basic news gets filtered down here, but all the juicy stuff's in the CYBDQTB?/NAU! newsletter.

Signup for a newsletter?  Why?!  You are our GNR coorespondant, MATT!!! ;D

Two weeks until March 6th?  Chances of the album still being released on that day??

I thought Bridget Moynahan got pregnant, and Gisele was the new girlfriend (not pregnant)?

This says Bridget is pregnant, but is Gisele also?

Bridget is understandable, but BLEH! on Gisele.  Everyone here has their likes and dislikes, but put me down as one of the haters of Gisele.  That face just doesn't do it for me.

WWE's Ashley is in next month's PB.  She already has posed nude, so no mystery here.
