I've not posted anything in a while yet we've been working really hard on getting news ready for you. So let's just say that we are close to telling you something about when and where it will be and you might find the host city a real surprise.

Don't hold me to it, but I bet we'll have some real news (not just a mean spirited tease like this post is) in the next 8 weeks.

Interesting if true. I'm assuming this is for 2012 (35th anniversary) so this seems a bit far ahead, but I guess they don't want a repeat of last time round.

Let the baseless location speculation begin.

I'll keep this short and sweet since my need is simple: General Grievous comic #2 of 4. My local shops have failed me (I checked 6 so far) and I'd rather do business with somebody on here than hassle with evilBay if I don't have to. My feedback is here. Thanks for reading!

Watto's Junk Yard / Build-An-Album (featured meme of the day)
« on: February 26, 2009, 02:50 AM »
1 - Click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

2 - Go to "Random quotations" at http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.

3 - Go to Flickr's “explore the last seven days” at http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture will be your album cover.

4 - Use Photoshop or similar to put it all together. I used http://www.picnik.com/

Harrison Ford Says Fifth 'Indiana Jones' Is In 'Primary Stages'

MTV: James Bond is a franchise that's figured out how to ably switch between actors. If, in 50 years, they find another man to play Indiana Jones, would that sit all right with you?

Ford: The very simple addition of numbers would make it clear that in 50 years I will not give a sh-- at all. I will so not care.

MTV: Well what if you knew today that someone else would wear the hat one day?

Ford: Fifty years from now, they can do anything they want.

February 12, 2008—Two western lowland gorillas in Congo's Nouabalé-Ndoki National Park embrace before mating face-to-face, as seen in photos released today.

Lowland gorillas had never before been seen mating face-to-face, and no wild gorilla had ever been photographed using this behavior, the Wildlife Conservation Society announced. The mating style, though, is seen among gorillas in captivity.

"Leah was lying on the ground and George was looking into Leah's eyes," researchers wrote in the report.

Leah appears to be a rather special gorilla.

In 2005 she made news as the first gorilla ever seen to use tools in the wild when she was observed using a walking stick to cross a swampy forest clearing.

Such tool use was considered surprising for wild gorillas, which some believe are less intelligent than other species of tool-wielding great apes.

"That is why this story is so cool," Max Planck's Breuer said. "The fact that it's the same female makes it extremely interesting."

Most primates mate facing the same direction.

"Bonobos [mate face-to-face] routinely—zoo gorillas and zoo chimps too," said Craig Stanford, an expert in great ape behaviors with the Jane Goodall Research Center at the University of Southern California (USC).

February 22, 2007

For the first time, great apes have been observed making and using tools to hunt mammals, according to a new study. The discovery offers insight into the evolution of hunting behavior in early humans.

No fewer than 22 times, researchers documented wild chimpanzees on an African savanna fashioning sticks into "spears" to hunt small primates called lesser bush babies.

[...]

Chimpanzees are well-known toolmakers. In the 1960s primatologist Jane Goodall famously observed chimps using sticks to fish termites out of mounds.

And Stanford's research has shown that chimpanzees are highly efficient hunters of colobus monkeys.

"But we've never discovered chimp populations that made the cognitive leap to put those two [skills] together and use weapons to assist in their hunting," Stanford said.

[...]

USC's Stanford said the word "spear" is an overstatement that makes the chimpanzees sound too much like early humans.

He prefers "bludgeon."

"They seem to be using it to hit the animal hard, and having a point on the end certainly helps," he said.

Site Feedback, Suggestions, and Help / Indiana Jones section?
« on: December 12, 2007, 04:31 PM »
I was curious if anyone else thinks it a good idea to have a separate Indy forum? Right now we have the figures thread in Other Toy Lines and the movie thread in Watto's (probably more in Lego and other sections I don't frequent), but I'm sure discussion will only become more voluminous as the release nears. Late next year it could be folded back into Watto's and OTL if popularity dies off.

Just a random thought, now back to your regularly scheduled homework....

Watto's Junk Yard / The playlist of your life
« on: April 7, 2007, 03:26 AM »
Found in a friend's blog.

IF YOUR LIFE WAS A MOVIE, WHAT WOULD THE SOUNDTRACK BE?
So, here's how it works:
1. Open your library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc)
2. Put it on shuffle
3. Press play
4. For every section of the movie, type the song that's playing
5. When you go to a new question, press the next button
6. Don't lie and try to pretend you're cool...

Opening Credits: Paperback Writer -- the Beatles

Waking Up: Nearer My God to Thee -- the Irish Tenors

First Day At School: Lyin' Eyes -- the Eagles

Falling In Love: Star Spangled Spectacular -- Cincinnati Pops Orchestra :-*

Shower Scene: Rally -- Prince of Egypt soundtrack ???

Fight Song: Out Ta Get Me -- Guns N Roses

Breaking Up: Breaking the Habit -- Linkin Park

Prom: Da Introduction -- Bone Thugs-N-Harmony

Life's OK: Symphony Number 5 -- Beethoven

Mental Breakdown: Falling Far Behind -- the Junior Varsity

Driving: Sugar Shack -- Jimmy Gilmer

Sex Scene: Do You Believe in Rapture? -- Sonic Youth 8) ;D

Flashback: Inara's Suite -- Firefly soundtrack

Getting Back Together: Lady d'Arbanville -- Cat Stevens

Wedding: Life by the Drop -- Stevie Ray Vaughan :o

Birth of Child: Remarkable -- Flubber soundtrack :D

Final Battle: St. Patrick's Day Parade -- Bing Crosby

Death Scene: Alone -- Ted Nugent :o

Funeral Song: Thinking of You -- Lenny Kravitz

End Credits: The Night Chicago Died -- Paper Lace

Outtakes: Hold Up -- Murphy Lee ::)

About half of them fit pretty well, some are just bizarre, but a few of them worry me. My wedding song is about alcoholism and I'm going to die alone? :'( On second thought, since I'm spending the evening watching movies by myself and drinking, maybe I should take this as a sign....

Watto's Junk Yard / 300 - The Movie

It comes out in March and looks to be all kinds of kickass.

It seems to be greatly anticipated among comic/movie geek circles (the AICN demographic basically)--but the Society of Ancient History at my college (of which I am a member ) is also very excited for this film.

Hey Hasbro! / Tusken Camp Massacre Battle Pack
« on: November 15, 2006, 05:36 PM »
Tusken Camp Massacre!
--Campfire and hut -- this would be the centerpiece of the set

--Tusken female with child -- repack from Saga 2002-08

--2x VTSC Sand Person of course -- or at worst, 2003-06 Camp Ambush Tusken

--Some sort of Anakin -- maybe the 2002-43 Tatooine Attack version with softgoods robe, or something a little more film accurate. I'm not too picky on this part since Anakins are a dime a dozen.

--If there's still room, a repacked massiff and/or the weapon rack from the abovementioned Tatooine Attack Anakin.

Thoughts? Too bloodthirsty for a "kid's toy"? If so, downplay the massacre aspect and simply call it a Tusken Village or something?

The Prequel Trilogy / Oooooh ... pretty pictures!
« on: November 7, 2006, 11:18 PM »
Some jawdropping super-hi-res RotS digital matte paintings from one of the folks who worked on the film.

The shot of the Coruscant vista from Padme's balcony makes one of the most breathtaking wallpapers I've seen.

There's also some great stuff (non-SW) under the Matte Paintings, Production Art, and Personal Gallery sections.

Site Feedback, Suggestions, and Help / ROTS forum
« on: October 30, 2006, 11:02 PM »
Just out of idle curiosity, why has the ROTS toys forum been renamed Episode 3? The toy line was always called Revenge of the Sith, not by the episode number (which would have been III in any case).
