Title: 12" Nute Gunray
Post by: Mainland05 on November 19, 2003, 10:58 AM
I was browsing the new Rebelscum special feature they have called "Jedi Archives", and typed in Nute Gunray in the search box, and noticed that under his name they have a -"Power of the Jedi 12" Nute Gunray 2001"-and i was wondering if anyone has heard anything about this, was it a rumor or what, i would but the link on here but i always do it wrong, so if you want to see it just got to Rebelscum and click on the Jedi Archives section and type in Nute Gunray, Hasbro and you will see it?

This was rumored pretty heavily at the end of '99, too bad it never happened because I love Nute :-\

The figure was mentioned in Hasbro's 2000 Pre Toy Fair catalog with a couple of other interesting 12" figures.  You can check out the information by going here: Hasbro 2000 Pre Toy Fair Catalog (http://collectibles.echostation.com/prototypes/Reference%20Material/Toycp2000.htm)

This was, as previously posted, supposed to have been part of the last two waves of Episode I 12" dolls in the spring of 2000.  Unfortunately, they dropped Ody Mandrell in favor of Pilot Anakin and Nute and Palpy were dropped completely.  I remember seeing a prototype head of Ody a few years ago but I've yet to see the first bit of photographic evidence on either Nute or Palpy.  Pity, too, as Palpatine has become my favorite character due to the prequel trilogy so far.  Has anyone ever seen photos of these two toys, prototype, painted sample, finished sample, etc?

You can check out the head of the unproduced Ody Mandrell by going here: Ody Mandrell Hardcopy Head (http://collectibles.echostation.com/prototypes/twelveinch/Odyhead.htm)

I have yet to see images of the unproduced twelve inch Nute Gunray or Senator Palpatine figures, however that doesn't mean tangible prototypes don't exist in some format.  Perhaps in the future more information will become available on these figures.
