I love you for trying, Angry Ewok.  I love you very much.  If you can score it elsewhere, I'll love you even more   ;)

Thanks for looking.

Modern Classifieds / Need (don't want, NEED) Unleashed Boba Fett
« on: August 30, 2004, 06:14 PM »
Crap. I saw him several times but wasn't collecting Unleashed.

Now I am and I wants him.

Can anyone help me out? I don't care if he's loose or on a banged up card or whatever. Please let me know if you've got one and what you're asking for him.

Thanks.

A little late on this bandwagon, but who cares.

I usually end up throwing money away when I buy something impulsively, but I saw this set leering at me and couldn't help it, so I dropped the $50 having never seen the show, but going off of some of your recommendations (Virex never leads anyone too far astray...).

Damn, it's such a good, character driven, well-written show.  No wonder it got creamed in the ratings.  This show is a perfect example of why some programs need a little time.  The kids really developed into their characters; the only good actors in the first episode were James Franco, Linda Cardellini, and Samm Levine, but by about the seventh episode, all of the actors had come into their own and the show was really rolling along.

Linda/Lindsey is such a babe, too.  She's freaking Velma from the Scooby Doo movies.  What a fall from grace....

James Franco gives me all kinds of man love goosebumps.  What a babe.

And all the Star Wars stuff....just awesome.  On that note, I noticed something a little...well...convenient.  Lots of the episodes were either written or directed, or both, by Jake Kasdan, who is Lawrence Kasdan's kid.  Lawrence, as we all know, was the writer for The Empire Strikes Back, so there's obviously an in.

Another thing I noticed was that another frequent contributor to the writing and/or directing was Rebecca Kirshner (she's also apparently done a lot of work on Wheadon's Buffy series).  And Irvin Kirshner, of course, directed TESB.  That's not a terribly common last name.  IMDB doesn't say anything about a relationship, but I'm willing to bet there's something there.

Anyway, it's a great show.  Eighteen episodes for fifty bucks is a great deal, and well worth it.  Haven't watched any with the commentaries yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

I'd have to agree with them.  Blade Runner's been my absolute above all ever favorite movie for the last ten years or so.  It's absolutely brilliant.

Thanks guys.  I checked out both Acid Pro and Sound Forge, and will just shop around.  Both seem to be going for around $400.00--is that about right?

Watto's Junk Yard / Music Editing Software?
« on: July 23, 2004, 04:41 PM »
Can anyone recommend some good music editing software?  I'm not looking for something that allows me to compose my own suites with my crappy Casio keyboard, I'm looking for something that will let me blend tunes together for compilation CDs, eliminate the vocal tracks from all of John Frusciante's solo albums (because while he's an awesome guitarist, his voice and lyrics bite gopher nads), eliminate hiss from older recordings, etc.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Six Feet Under...who's watching?
« on: July 13, 2004, 02:32 PM »
I'm too cheap to pay for HBO, but before I became such a miser, I was addicted.  So I watch the DVDs and stay content being two years behind everyone else.

I just bought the second season when it was released last week, and finished watching the 13 episodes on Sunday night.  Good, good show.

I heard Season 3 sucks, though.  I caught a few Season 3 episodes while visiting my folks' house (who aren't too cheap for HBO), and got that Nate married Lisa, and then she vanished at the end of the season or something.  I read that she's dead, and something about a dream sequence.  I don't really give a fig about being "spoiled" or anything (the joy of Six Feet Under isn't the destination...it's the journey), so do any of yous guys want to fill me in on Season 3 and Season 4 so far?

Looks really dumb.

But still, I would absolutely love to have sex with Halle Berry.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: The Wilco Thread

Bought it this morning on the way into work.  I'd avoided "spoiling" it by listening to the web stream, and I planned on waiting until I got home tonight so that I could put on some headphones and listen to the album straight through.

I couldn't wait, though, and popped it in on the drive to the office.  I only made it through the first four songs, but they all hit the spot.

There must be some kind of weird Jeff Tweedy thing going on in the cosmos, too, because "Shouldn't Be Ashamed" from A.M. was in my head all weekend.

Virex, have you heard Richmond Fontaine?  You should check them out.  Not as good as Wilco, IMHO, but they have a similar kind of vibe.  Worth looking into......

For the other Wilco fans on here, have any of you checked out Richmond Fontaine?  They're from Portland, and have also been lumped into that alt-country genre, but it doesn't fit them as equally as it doesn't fit Wilco.

They have a similar kind of atmospheric melancholy derived from the roots of rock and roll (notice how I carefully avoided the term "roots-rock"?).

Give 'em a listen.  I'd particularly recommend:

No, no, no.  You can't call Velvet Revolver "the Velvets," since that's what people already call The Velvet Underground.

I was very tempted to pick up the VR cd this morning, but passed until I hear some more tracks or read some reviews.  I did pick this up, though:

It sucks.  Don't buy it.
