Talk about a stumbling presidency. Gotta admire his tenacity, though. I'm sure he'll have that Segway tamed in no time. (Or "disarmed.")
-
LOL! You referring to this particular shot John...?!
Too funny! ;D For those that don't know what a Segway is, it's one of those new and expensive little motorized personal "people transport" thingees... How's that for a good description, huh?! 8) Go get 'em Dubya!
I'm mildly curious if that's his bike with the cute pink seat as well... :D
-
He did stay on his feet though keep that in mind. (Keep this on topic too, guys. No political debates, if you please)
-
Be careful, some people might get "offended" by that picture (since the pic seems to suggest that Bush isn't "on his toes" :)). ;D

Amen to that thought Cory. I cringed at the sight of the topic.
-
That's too priceless.
I can just see him......
"It's got a Gyro-whatzit now?"
Those things are REALLY silly looking though. Why you'd want one for 5 or 10 grand when you can buy an electric Zappy that goes faster and looks cooler for 500 bucks is beyond me.

That picture made my day.

Even blondes can ride it. Hmmm...

Ditto.

Hmmmmm.....is this "Watto's" or "Wuher's"? :-\ :-\ ::)
-
"The Segway went down on Bush's first attempt, but he stayed on his feet with a flying [backward] leap over the machine, [executing a perfect full gainer, finishing off with a classic "I meant to do that" flourish]. Undeterred, he got on again [muttering "There is no spoon."] His [decrepit] father climbed on a second Segway [shouting, "Who's your daddy?"] and they cruised around the driveway at the estate at Walker's Point."
Film at eleven. (I hope.)

No blasters! No blasters!!!
:)

Hmmmmm.....is this "Watto's" or "Wuher's"? :-\ :-\ ::)
That's funny, I was thinking the same thing when I read the word "ricer" being used in this forum just a few days ago.

Ya, what of it? I refer to "ricers" all the time...is that offensive to you? The name "Ricer" is not a racial slur....or a political comment either. It is simply a reference from the street racing world.....pertaining to people who install stickers and exterior parts or wheels on a car in an attempt to look fast......when in actuality they haven't spent one thin dime on engine components..........
The word "ricer" is the equevalant to the term "poser" used by skateboarders.
-
It must have been all that running Bush does to keep on his toes. Bush is quite the athletic fellow you know :)
-
No blasters!!!
:o
-
Hahaha! That's funny! This isn't political in nature, I don't think, it's just funny!
-
It's funny that ever since I think Carter was in office the presidents have had incidents that were caught on tape.
Carter: Fell down alot (I been told, since I wasn't alive to witness it)
Regan: Not sure of but figure something has happened to him.
Bush Sr.: Incident in the Embassy with the Dipolmat being used as a barf bag
Clinton: Falling off of a step of a porch injurying his leg.
and now Bush Jr.: Trying to get on a Segway and falling off his first time.
And I would love to see people here the first time they get a chance to ride a Segway since most of us haven't and propabally will do the same thing or something similar to it.
:)
-
Oh, lest you forget Gerald Ford kicking it off, falling down the stairs from Air Force One. But this definitely counts up there for Bush as a "DOH!" moment.
-

:)
I think that most of us wouldn't want to use such a silly, pointless device in the first place. :)

Just checkin'.. Thought I was at RS. ::)

i think these things are great

anyone know how fast they go...also notice amazon is limiting to 5 per household. at 5k each... come on now

Hahaha! That's funny! This isn't political in nature, I don't think, it's just funny!
Exactly...
This isn't questioning Bush's policy, and this isn't questioning his integrity. This is making fun of him because he's clumsy (He's had a LOT of "funny" moments like this one, not just physically but verbally... He's just a president that's easy to poke fun at for "little" things).
No need to fear a "Political debate" because the only reason you'd take offense to making fun of a man falling is if you're the man who fell. No harm, no foul...
I'm a democrat but still laugh at Carter's clumsy behavior, it was amusing... I think the 3 Stooges are mildly entertaining too. :)
-
I cringed too when I saw Bush's name in the title here, but we're fine. This isn't a thread that's political in nature. It's just a funny/embarrassing moment caught on film for a famous politician (yeah, I know that's a slight understatement). But as long as the conversation just relates to Dubya's clumsiness, we're cool... Could've been any famous person really, and it would've still been pretty damned funny. Being the President of the United States, whether he's democrat, republican, independent, or whatever, just makes it even more noteworthy...
We've got the JD seal of approval here (so far)... 8)

Maybe he can send it to America's Funniest Videos and win!
-
If only he'd nailed himself in the groin. America's Funniest Videos generally specializes in accidents involving crotches. (I'm sure Clinton already sent his in.)
-
Clinton's was more of a disaster than an accident...
It was like Ernest Borgnine booked a flight on Clinton's crotch and doomed it to tragedy.
-
I thought of this thread when I saw this picture of the President dropping his dog
(http://us.news2.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/ap/20030830/capt.1062270954.topix_bush_txdl102.jpg)
How many funny pictures of you would they have if there were reporters constantly around?
-

;)

-
Hah! That picture of him dropping his dog is priceles... This guy's comic relief in a bottle.
I can honestly say that there'd be nowhere NEAR as many shots of me being clumsy no matter how often reporters were up my butt. Bush is just sort of a doofus like this... It doesn't reflect on him as an individual other than he's clumsy and goofy by his physical actions, that's all. :)
All in good fun I say...
My favorite parts of the picture though, aren't so much Bush, but more that there's a little girl shocked to death over it and a guy just standing there with his hands in his pockets like he just kicked the dog. It's just an absurd photo. :)
-
Yeah, the girls looks are what I thought were the best as well. Holy Crap! The President just dropped his dog!
-
So....
Bush 1, Dog 0
-
The guy with his hands in his pockets is pretty funny too. Think about it... How can one photo have so much emotion going on in it?
Bush is jumping in bravery to save his dog (OK, that's highly embellished, but whatever, haha), then t here's the girl scared and shocked, and then there's some guy who just could give a rat's patoot about it all. ;D THAT is funny.
The guy really looks like he's just kicking the dog like it's dead even, and he's all non-schelant about it. :) I love this photo! I can't bogart it as a .jpg though to send to my buddy. I'm disappoitned. :-\
-
You know, it almost looks like the dog is an assassin in disguise and President Bush is trying to use his heat vision to incapacitate the fiend:
At first I thought it was one of those silly goats that tip over when you frighten them. Silly goats. I'm thinking, "What the heck is Bush doing with one of those goats?" But then I thought, "Hey, it's Bush. He's the frickin' president. It's really none of my business."
Then I saw it was his stupid dog. Why was he holding the dog in the first place? Was the dog resisting the President's embrace?
Better to drop the pooch than to... no, I won't say it. Too derivitive of the Clinton presidency. Let's just say it's nothing to get impeached over.
-
Heh-heh-heh. Yeah if someone had reporters around me all the time they would have gold. I must check my pants about 15 times a day to make sure my zipper is up and not down. They would have some good shots of me "checking" myself. Better it be up than down you know.
-
The funny thing about Bush's dog is this: it doesn't walk when he wants it to. He has to carry it all over the place!
-
I don't know, man. I want to see the tape. From that distance, it looks like the dog was thrown.
Someone call PETA.
-
After reading something I got in the mail today about the people appointed to issues pertaining to the environment by Bush, and their backgrounds, I wouldn't be surprised if he set the dog on fire after dropping it.
The read was quite disturbing, but nothing that surprised me either.
-
I actually saw the tape of this Bush/Dog drop. I was watching ESPN this morning trying to catch highlights of the Cubs 4 out of 5 victories vs the Cards series. Anyway, they were showing "the Top 10". I thought it was the top 10 plays of the day or something like that.
Anyway, they showed it during this segment. Why I have no idea but they did. I only it saw it once and it was quick. But this is what it looked like to me. What happened was someone was handing Bush his dog. Bush has his arms outstretched. The dog appeared to have it's legs almost running when handed to Bush. As if the dog was excited to see his master. Bush was talking to the guy that handed him the dog and never looks the dog into his hands. Bush never actually had a handle on the dog. It slipped or wriggled from Bush's grasp. Bush could feel he did not have a good grasp but by then it was too late. It only fell about 2 feet if that because in his attempt to get a good hold he bends his knees.
So, it was not like Bush was carrying it for awhile and dropped it or anything like that. It was done on a transfer. Bush never even has the dog really.
That still photo is great though. LOL!
-
Well... when my 12 yr old that knows nothing about politics forms an opinion on Mr. Bush based on his speach alone... that tells me a lot.
-
It was done on a transfer. Bush never even has the dog really.
So ESPN's take was that it was an incomplete pass rather than a fumble? This is the first time I can recall a U.S. president getting sports commentary since Ford and his Olympic-level dismounts from Air Force One.
-
Yes that's right instant replay cleary shows that Bush never had possesion of his dog. The crowd around him is apparently one-sided. Democrats hired the little kids and planted them there. They KNEW the dog would be dropped. It's a conspiracy I tell ya!!!
-
As you can see, the dog fell back and to the left...
Back and to the left...
Back and to the left...
Back and to the left...
-
This is the first time I can recall a U.S. president getting sports commentary since Ford and his Olympic-level dismounts from Air Force One.
Who's Ford, John? :-*
You mean Harrison Ford, in the Air Force One flick? Don't recall any poor dismounts from him in the movie, but I'll have to double check the next time I watch it. Never heard of any other "Fords" who may have used Air Force One... :P

Did you know that the Consumer Product Safety Commission is headed by three commissioners nominated by the President? And that the President designates one of the commissioners as Chairman? The current Chairman is Hal Stratton (http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/bios/chairman/bio.html), nominated by President George W. Bush just last year.
Isn't that interesting?
Now I'm thinking, "Segway 1, Bush 1."
-
In my heart, inaninate objects, rogue inventions, and dastardly animals will always have 1 up on our president.
-
Just read a story that the Pentagon is testin versions of the Segway which they hope to someday use in battle (cue terminator music)
Note that Bush is Commander in Chief...what does that do to the Big Board Tally?
-
You know, I'm glad this thread was updated, because a couple of months ago, I had a chance to try out a Segway for a little bit, and I didn't fall off a once.
I'm giving serious consideration to throwing my hat in the ring for next year's presidential race.

This thread reminds me of something I came across recently...

On a recent trip to Atlanta, I saw cops using these things to get around.
I don't know. Bicycles are cooler, and horseback is even better. But anything to take the stress off a donut-laden physique, I guess.
-
Hmmm, yeah that does take something away from the "Cool" factor that mounted police officers have going for them.
They're a biggie in Pittsburgh, as we have a pretty decent fleet of Harley's (Some with sidecars even, who'd have thunk it?) and are a pride of the police force. I don't wanna fruit-ify my law-enforcement via the Segway. :(
Horses are definitely cooler, though the Segway doesn't leave poop everywhere I suppose. Depends who may be riding it at the time though I guess.

Mountain Bike 1 Segway 1 Bush 0

Damn. If it's got two wheels, it's a menace to Bush.
I wonder if we'll find some Segways (of mass destruction) in the Middle East anytime soon?

Good Lord, that mountain biking accident picture is hilarious! Took the pavement right down the middle of his face... Dude doesn't even know how to take a dive relatively safely. ::)
