CV - Hasbro Report AT ST set with 2 Snowtroopers, Vader and Driver .... Wave 3 packs include a new Luke and Darth Vader, Senate Commando & Aqua Battle Droid and Training Clone and Sgt Bric plus one 2 pack they can't reveal.

Oh, holy crap, that's awesome!  Not only an AT-ST butI've been looking for an opportunity to get ahold of more snowtroopers for a long while.  Thank you, Kohl's!

I'm like Kenobi.  We really buy the GH because I like them, but they go straight to my kids (who have played with them nonstop for years, now).  They live in a giant tupperware bin, but I'm always imagining a day when they'll go up in a nice permanent display.

I'm a little bummed Hasbro didn't bring any surprises to C5 for the display cases, but I'm holding out hope that something down-the-roadish shows up in a slide show, maybe?

I've still got plenty of OT stuff I've always wanted to see (Chirpa #1), plenty of silly stuff that would be TOO AWESOME in the GH line (GH Bantha!), and also some stuff that's gotten too high on my list just because I want to fill in the blanks...

Max Rebo, Droopy McCool, and _________
Ponda Baba and __________
_______, Barada, Nikto
Uncle Owen and __________

The only thing I DON'T want to see are a bunch of resculpts.  The reason it all displays so well is because everything matches, and everything's authoritative.  I've already eaten a dozen Darth Vader repacks, there's absolutely no reason to stop now.

Don't even get me started on my Episode 1 list.   ;)

Did you notice what they shipped with?  I had passed on the TRU exclusive Anakin's CW Jedi Starfighter the first time around, but I could see myself picking it up if I find the right coupon or whatever.

I'm a little bummed they didn't reveal the Christmas lineup at Comic Con.  I guess it makes sense with C5 coming up, though.

That stinks.  I'm sure we were driving this line for a good portion, but I guess not anymore.

Saw the new CW 2packs at Kohl's today - will have to cave on Bane/Aurra at some point.

Yeah, gee, if the line was so "overwhelmingly kid-driven," it sure would have been nice if they'd just stuffed 100% ignorable repacks into all those Cinema Scenes they didn't need us to buy.  ::)

Quote from: Sir Steve's Guide Q&A with Hasbro
Sir Steve's Guide
SSG:  Now that you've made Galactic Heroes figures of Max Rebo and Droopy McCool, there is a hole in the band. Why did Sy Snootles get left out of the set? Might Hasbro consider rounding out the original trio of palace band members by making a Sy Snootles Galactic Heroes figure? She would go great in a 2 pack with any of Jabba's more prominent minions (Tessek, Ephant Mon, or Ree-Yees for instance) or perhaps Oola or cloak-wearing Luke. Seeing as these more obscure Galactic Heroes figures are fan-driven, if you were to make a Sy figure would it be based on her classic "vintage" appearance?

Hasbro:   We have no plans to make a Sy Snootles or some of the other figures. Galactic Heroes seems to be overwhelmingly kid-driven, and aside from a few 2-packs with relatively obscure characters later this year, we'll be sticking to known and recognized characters going forward.

Hrumph.

So, with the BOG1/2 sale, I checked TRU's website for Galactic Heroes.  The only two Cinema Scenes they still have in stock are the awful Arena2 (Nexu) and Endor3 (Ewok Glider) sets.  Shocker those never sold through   ::)

Anyway, it gave me the price I needed to finally pick up that Endor set.  I haven't even really looked at that Glider figure too closely, since I was always planning to pass on it.  I'm eager to see how it turned out.

Thanks for posting those.  It is good to hear that even though the Cinema Scenes are being put on hiatus, that doesn't necessarily mean the end of vehicles.  I'd like to see a few more (specifically from the OT), like a TIE fighter, AT-ST, etc.

I wish I could share your optimism.  I'm sorta reading their answer to mean, "we'll be trying to sell TRU on an exclusive purple Mace Windu JSF and an exclusive red-trimmed snowspeeder (with white-gloved Wedge)."  Or whatever.

I am, however, wondering whether or not the AT-AT might be followed up by another $39 mega vehicle next year(?).

Brian, I'm curious what you decided to do about the Y-Wing?  It's a prequel ship, for sure, but still not super far off from the OT model.   ;)

Here are some Galactic Heroes related Hasbro Q&As from other sites:

Quote from: Yoda's News
Yoda's News: With the Galactic Heroes Cinema Scenes being put "on hold" will we still see the Purchase of the Droids and Kamino set?

Hasbro: Yes, they got pushed out due to Toys 'R Us asking for a re-release of some of their previous Cinema Scenes. We are back on track, and these will be coming later this Spring to Toys 'R Us.

Quote from: Jedi News UK
Jedi News UK: We're sorry to see the Galactic Heroes Cinema Scenes go. What does this mean for Galactic Heroes in terms of future vehicles and additional figures - will we continue to see vehicles or will the 2 packs be the only outlet for Galactic Heroes moving forward (and will we see all four Republic Commandos as Galactic Heroes) and finally, are we likely to see a return to the Cinema Scenes sometime in the future?

Hasbro: Something had to give way to make room for the Galactic Heroes AT-AT, so it was decided to put the Cinema Scenes on hiatus as a mainline offering.  There still may be exclusive Cinema Scenes here and there to take advantage of the cool vehicle library we have built up.  As for the other Commandos, we hope that they will find their way into the lineup at some point, but it won't be for a while if so.

Quote from: Raving Toy Maniac
Raving Toy Maniac: Does the Galactic Heroes AT-AT's head open to allow access to figures? If so, how many figures?

Hasbro: Yes, the head will open to fit one figure.

There's some great new 2-packs coming too.  Aurra Sing, Cad Bane, Snow Bunny Padme and the Commandos look awesome.

Whoa, I don't think I ever looked too closely at some of the photos from the Hasbro booth.  This one shows that Skywalker/Tano pack with flight helmets.  Pretty cool.

Yeah, no Cinema Scenes might mean a huge reduction in ride-in vehicles.  OT-wise, sure, gravy and what not.  But almost the only toys my boys play with are clones.  I'm* going to be pretty well disappointed by this line's lack of Clone vehicles.

The Cinema Scenes never seemed to sit at my Targets, but I'm also not so sure my Targets ever put out more than a couple of cases.  They took up a ton of shelf space, and I'm suspecting Wal-Mart got fed up with them as far back as a year ago.

*My 3 year old, however, has already made do.  He probably couldn't tell you what a Turbo Tank is, but he knows Clones need to drive to battle.  They get there in this guy:
(handled dump truck, by LT)

He probably couldn't tell you what a Gunship is, but he knows Clones need to fly into battle.  They get there in the Falcon and/or this guy:
("Rocket" from Little Einsteins, by FP)

I think Hasbro missed a cool opportunity.  Then again, I sometimes think this line was way more collector and parent driven than the 3.75" line has been.

OH, and the AT-AT is AMAZING.  The clones will be very happy to get to battle in THAT guy.

Ya these things are like pulling teeth for me if/when I finally decide a purchase is warrented.  I got the blue AAT which I've only seen at retail twice and the Magnaguardfighter as of the last few months.  Wish this line would just go away personally.  Obviously there's only 2 people on this site that collect these so that has to tell you something.  I don't even transform these things - just using the crossover line to make up for the lack of Action Fleet.

I have a few around the house, too.  They are absolutely huge on the birthday party scene.  The kids aren't too keen on them, but I guess I've had some fun futzing with them while I'm watching TV here and there.

For a bunch of lame backpack transformations, it's amazing how impossible it is to handle the newer ones without them popping into a million amputated bits and pieces.  If I was more motivated, I'd customize up some sturdier joints - but, really, why bother?

Man, does that AT-AT news mean Wal-Mart still couldn't spare 18 inches of space for another year?  Come to think of it, is anybody's Wal-mart even stocking Cinema Scenes this season?  I'm pretty positive all the WMs in my area have zero space alloted to them, and might not until at least February (unless they put them on a standalone pallate or end-cap for a few weeks before Christmas, maybe).

BTW, it feels like I just keep passing and passing on GH product lately.  The rainbow of Jedi Starfighters isn't that exciting to me, I *hate* that Endor Attack set (Would it have killed them to jam a Paploo-arm on Poncho Leia?  Repaint Logray into a Teebo? Or to just add the glider to the other, also not that great, Endor scene?), and I haven't quite decided if the Costco Falcon set is worth $28 AND getting a member to pick it up for me.

Bah humbug.

Wait, why are Anakin's and Obi Wan's lightsabers so crazy short?

I made a tough pass on Obi Wan's Episode 3 starfighter last night.  There are enough Galactic Heroes ships in my house and on the horizon that it seems a little silly for Anakin and Obi Wan to have 4 ships.  I guess I'll also pass on Anakin's Episode 2 ship and wait until his Episode 3 ship gets announced and released?

It does stink to pass on the 2 legged R4.  It can stand in pretty nicely in a GH sort of way for Wedge's droid.  Between it, R5-D8, R2-D2, and using R2-Q2 as an iffy double for Bigg's droid, all the X-wing pilots can have a matching droid to ride with them.  I think that's pretty cool.

I just toss all of the boxes immediately. I don't really feel any need to save them, although some are kind of cute. They just take up too much space. I know this is a contentious issue, but I don't see how you can really enjoy them without opening them up. Just my opinion.

My move is usually to toss the box on the floor for the kids to play with for a few days until it's nice and beaten up, then it goes to the trash.  I have enough space headaches with all the ships.

I've customed up a few mostly wooden GH playsets the last couple Christmasses, to cover some play pattern needs (clones, droids, and rebels can make pretty much any inside/outside area a battle field... but what are all those aliens for?  Hence, the bare bones Cantina that I LOVE and the barebones Jabba's Palace that's still missing a little something).

Almost unfortunately, the cardboard scenes are getting WAY better though... to the point it's a [still necessary] shame to get rid of them.  The medal ceremony box, with that fold out flap, makes a really neat little scene.
