Series 8 - while dredging through the old, split off topics I noticed that Adam saw the announcement in January of last year (or maybe the year before) so we may only be three weeks from knowing what's coming in July of this year. The box set is announced, we have the carded Kub for the year (well, latter half of last year anyway) so it's time for a new series.
As stated in the other thread (series 7), I really hope the blue guard isn't a signal of a future direction. I'm mostly ok with its appearance as a chase figure because it made sense to a degree. What I don't want to see is a shift any time soon to the PT stuff. I know folks like them, but Medicom has been so good with the homage to vintage I'd hate to see it end. Still a good chunk of figures left to do but with so many of the Luke/Han/Leia figures done, they might be starting to scratch their heads at what to make 3 or 4 per box. A snowtrooper would have been an ideal fit but its announcement in the box set is a bit of a head scratcher. I'm still hoping they put it out as a regular figure, with some sort of deco difference as the boxed scout trooper has/had.
I think we're good to go OT style for series 8 because they can still do a Luke in Hoth outfit. Leia could also be out there too, leading well to an ESB series as many have suggested as a possibility.

And yeah, I'm right there with you wanting them to switch the snowtrooper/Luke ratio around, but I'm thinking they won't. Not sure what the third chase would be.
After this series though I think they're running low on Luke/Han to bulk up the front end of a series. They pulled ceremonial Luke from the modern line for a box set, so maybe then can find another alternate that way. Could also use a black Imperial officer down the road as well.

But now that Yakface is out, I really want to see a Garindan. With that big gonzo nose and a robe like Luke Jedi from series 5. Hammerhead would be fantastic too. Squidface and Bib are close behind. I think we need at least 1 more series from each movie-
I like the idea of ugnaughts as well, maybe they could stand in for dagobah R2. Or some hoth rebels.
I'm thinking the prequels could wait a while too. I am certainly slanted to the OT as a fan anyway, but seeing 50 paint decos of clones (1/2 of the chases) would sour my kubrick interest considerably. As much as I like imperials, I had to force myself to buy the latest round of Hasbro colors (green, green aotc, and blue stripes).
Series 1 was all bounty hunters, so maybe a core character isn't a requirement for a wave. Jabba's palace and New Hope tatooine are still ripe with characters. We have squidface, bib fortuna, wuher, hammerhead, power droid, weequay, ree-yees, 8-d8, klaatu (2 outfits), rancor keeper, at-st driver, nikto, EV-9D9, imperial dignitary, barada, lando general, amanaman, and those are just the good ideas (well, maybe not malikali, but he's in the vintage line).

Great lists guys! I`m really hoping they hold off on PT kubs till a few more OT series are out. I don`t mind the occasional one (such as blue rg), but there is still sooo much OT to do! I really want a squidhead. For whatever reason, he was a favorite of mine as a youngster. Nikto, Klattu & Barada would be sweet at some point too, Amanaman if they could do it. Popup saber R2. Hammerhead is a must also. Lobot, need a lobot!

If & when PT kubs happen full force, I really hope for separate series for PT & OT.
I`m itching for Maul, QGJ, Obi and clones clones clones, but I`d rather OT stuff first, I can wait years for PT, if thats ok with Medicom ;)

Well, they've done two Droids thus far, could it be that a box set is in the offing? More carded figures? I'd like to see the Fromms, Vlix and a couple of others from Droids. I'd not be keen, but they could do a series from Ewoks as well. I'd like to see that too before the prequel figures kick in.
Skiff guard box set could be neat too. Maybe toss in an R2 with drink tray or something?
Jabbas box set would be amazing of course; Bib Fortuna, Salacious Crumb, Oola and a repaint of the Gammorean Guard so we can have some more/another. Or maybe a Rancor Keeper.
I think Spirit Yoda will be coming somehow before long to round out the trifecta.

I am still hoping for the Jabba box set. Of course with Jabba, Salacious Crumb, and Bib Fortuna.
A skiff Guardf box set would be really cool as well with Klaatu, Barada, and Niktu. I saw throw in a Weequay and there we have it.
I would love to see more figures from Droids. Vlix, Sise Fromm, Tig Fromm, and Gaff would be awesome.

I just hope they figure out a way to release the snowtrooper as a basic figure as well. We need that, the AT-ST driver, and some more officers (dark uniforms) for us army building addicts. Am I missing any troops?

Yeah, I think of Ewoks Wicket as a different Ewok also. Maybe not Romba or any of the other vintage ones, but possibly Bob or Harry the Ewok that appeared just off camera. Works for me.

I'm also interested in seeing a hoth wave. I haven't gone through the list of figures, but off the top of my head I'm guessing Empire is the most under-represented for figures. Well, other then wave 1.
I also want to see some sort of a chewie and r2 one day. I know I'll never get an early bird set, and those are two characters that leave glaring holes in the collection.

To you, maybe. To me the hoods off & Romba has a belt plus Lumat & Warok have a Quiver.

And to me, the chances of Medicom ever making a Romba/Lumat/Warok are slim to none. Which is why Ewoks Wicket will forver be to me "Romba". Wompus might be a better alternative

If Medicom does make another Ewok, they may just add the quiver & bow but then again they might do another from the Ewoks cartoon line. Dulok Scout, Dulok Shaman, King Garneesh, Logray (Cartoony) & Ugrah Lady Garneesh but doubtful IMO. But then again it's Medicom & they do seem to like to surprise us like that Indy. ;D

Cartoony Logray would be my bet because the coloration is so different from standard Ewoks. The Duloks would be too, being greenish and all, but I just see blue Logray fitting better. I don't see any need for further Ewoks, of course.

Is that price what you expected to see? I was thinking 40-50 tops. $12.00 each before shipping (with some of them a bit on the"yawn" side) seems pretty steep to me... :-\

The last two box sets sat fairly high at the start of their release too but then dropped to the more reasonable prices around $30-40 or so. Naturally I finally caved on the second box set just before the prices fell through the floor ::) Piss poor timing that.
I'd wait on the box set rather than go with BBTS's price, only because there has been no indication of limitation on this box set itself. It's readily available to anyone that wants it in Japan so it shouldn't be a short run or anything. I guess I'm saying I expect it to settle down once the initial rush is over. Take that with a grain of salt as my friend in Japan already has a set on order for me, so I'm a little calmer than I might otherwise be.
A little over a week until Medicom's announcement day. I'm guessing we hear what's in series 8 AND the snowtrooper is part of it.

The new box set has a much higher retail price. People who get it direct have to pay 6000yen ($50), plus about 1000yen for delivery. The Toys'r'us set was about 3500yen IIRC,and you could just walk into the shop to buy it, which is why there were soooo many found there way onto ebay. If the shipping isnt too high on the above link, I'd say its not a bad deal.
And I wouldnt expect a snowtrooper later down the line anymore than I'd expect a 11th series consisting of chases people missed. Maybe I should put that in the dream box-list thread :)

Thanks for the info on the costs, that means this is a one set deal for me. I'm going to hope the snowtrooper is in a series though- the biker scout came out in a boxed set and in a series, so it's not unprecedented. Plus imperial troops are a natural fit to fill that 4 per or 3 per spot in the box.

I don't at all disagree that the likelihood of a regular release snowtrooper is less likely than had it not been released in a box set, but to suggest it's about as likely as a series re-releasing all the chase figures in more than a little bit absurd. As pointed out, we have two versions of the biker scout in fairly short order, one a box "set" the other a regular release. Fairly rapid succession on their relative releases too. Add to that the relative lack of other army builders available and I think Medicom has themselves in a bit of an OT quandry. Sure, the easy way out is to start plunking clone troopers into the line (ptui) but I remain optimistic that we'll see more snowtroopers. Medicom has shown they are pretty sharp and understand their market pretty well.
Ah well, at worst it's just proof that no matter how cynical one thinks themselves to be, there's always someone functioning just a notch above you ;) :-*

Plus I just don't think anyone out there is going to be upset at being able to get more snowtroopers. Lots of folks won't open their box sets and would still probably like to have at least one snowtrooper loose. If anyone was upset about it, I can't really imagine why they would be. One week until we find out series 8 (maybe :P)

Well said. You're so right man. In fact, there are even some American toy lines that I hear collectors bitching about, in terms of availability of certain figures and the rarity of chases.
Basically, collect what makes you happy, not what gets you frustrated. Isn't the point of it all to have fun?

I just checked Medicom's site and there is nothing SW related. Though, I'm not sure if what I see is the new update. I wouldn't be suprised if ser 8 announcement wasn't for another month or two...

I'm a little surprised and nervous there wasn't an anouncement on series 8. It looks like we knew about the December release in June of last year, so January would have made sense... :-\

Since there was no announcement in January, it makes me think there won't be anything SW related at the 2007 February Wonderfest... :-\

I had a look through the items on the website and couldnt find any reference to wonderfestival, so I'm supposing that information will come in the next update, and through advertisements in magazines over here.
I'll have a scan through HyperHobby in the video shop when it comes out, I'd be surprised if that didnt have any information.

It seems that,most of the years have 2 releases so far except 2004,probably due to the released of carded figures..r2,black pauldron sandy,droids boba, holo leia,endor boxset and TRU Boxset I presume they've lost 'INTEREST' on regular basis sets... :P sigh.....sigh...

umm random question... where can you find these little guys. iv never seen them before but see a lot of talk about them on this site. im kinda interested. its not one of those online series are they?

They are retailed exclusively in Japan. Unless you count various online retailers like BBTS.com, etc. But they are not released into North America directly. Very few Canadian retailers carry them at all; Toys, Toys, Toys (Toronto) and maybe one online/store in Vancouver carry them, that's about it.
HLJ.com sells them directly by the box of 12 to anyone (no membership required). Robby.jp sells them to qualified dealers by the case at a better price (they also sell by the box I believe). Ebay or the b/s/t boards here are your best bet. But be aware many of the figures released have been only one to a box, so those are rather hard to come by as people tend to keep them for their sets.
Sorry, I think Hong Kong has them as well.

WonderFest for Winter 2007 is on February 25th... I'm currently hoping that the February Medicom update announces Series 8 on the 23rd and they they show them off at the show! :)

My Yakface arrived in the mail today, so since that series is now wrapped up and because I'm looking at Yak right now, I'll speculate:
Will we see more modern versions of figures creeping into the lines?
I hope not and admit I wish the Yak was a copy of the vintage line instead of the modern release. It would certainly allow Medicom to extend the life of the OT figures in the line with more variation than appeared in the original vintage lineup. And it's not like it hasn't happened before, the Vader had the Dagobah version down pretty well.
Will there be more PT figures?
I know some guys are anxious for them, but I really, really hope not. That blue Royal Guard scares the crap out of me. Sure, it's nice, but let's be realistic here, the PTs while completing the front end of the movies have a huge component in place that's pretty much nothing more than marketing. Why did the stormtroopers only come in white when there was such a veritable rainbow of colors some 15-20 years before. Yeah, I know, Lucas-ian revisionist history is going to have the 2010 release of the OT have all the stormtroopers in different colors, but it doesn't mean I support it. I'm ok with EU to a small degree, but not revisionist history >:(
And speaking of EU, anyone think we might start seeing so EU based lines in the Kubrick at some point? Or is that just Hasbro's pet fetish? I think there's little need, but I really don't have much of a feel for how the Japanese market feels about the EU (or PT for that matter) and I think that drives the design and selection more than anything that happens elsewhere.

Agreed on all accounts. I was astonished and somewhat dismayed to see the Blue Guard, as cool of a figure as it is.

I have to agree, but if adding a few prequel characters in the mix means the continuation of the line then i guess i am ok with it. As long as we continue to get cool things that Hasbro won't do i am ok with it. As long as the continue to pay respect to the vintage line then i'll go with the flow. So far Medicom has been on point and the most creative of the companies. They gave us animated figures, vinyl caped jawa, indiana jones and a blue snaggletooth. I think that is great and i think they will continue with this trend. I think we all knew it would happen eventually but they have not let us down yet so i am not going to worry.

I agree Dan, these guys have been the sharpest of the bunch by a long shot and that's probably why that blue Royal Guard is so disturbing. We all had thoughts for the chase figures that weren't prequel figures. I can understand that it might be a creative way to save on tooling costs, and if that was the decision maker, I'm just fine with that. If it's a harbinger of the future, not so great.
I'm not about to up and drop the line, but a few PT figures will prevent me from ordering a full case. I'd probably drop back to a box or perhaps even just track down a set without the chase figures. I think a Maul could be neat but part of the draw for me to this line has been that intelligence Medicom has displayed by understanding the vintage line so well. There's tons of companies out there doing prequel stuff but only one doing a really good homage to the vintage lineup (no disrespect to Hasbro's VOTC stuff, it's great).

I see that logic. In some ways i agree but i just think that it was something that was going to happen eventually. Series 8 will probably give us a better indication of how things will go. Now we just have to play the waiting game.

I agree Dan, these guys have been the sharpest of the bunch by a long shot and that's probably why that blue Royal Guard is so disturbing. We all had thoughts for the chase figures that weren't prequel figures. I can understand that it might be a creative way to save on tooling costs, and if that was the decision maker, I'm just fine with that. If it's a harbinger of the future, not so great.
I'm not about to up and drop the line, but a few PT figures will prevent me from ordering a full case. I'd probably drop back to a box or perhaps even just track down a set without the chase figures. I think a Maul could be neat but part of the draw for me to this line has been that intelligence Medicom has displayed by understanding the vintage line so well. There's tons of companies out there doing prequel stuff but only one doing a really good homage to the vintage lineup (no disrespect to Hasbro's VOTC stuff, it's great).
Well, that's pretty hard-core that you'd cut back. I'm such an addict and a completionist that I wouldn't be as happy as if there were only OT figures, but I'd probably continue to collect them the same as always.

I'm with Morgbug. I refuse to buy the Kubrick Blue Guard and will refuse to buy any Kubrick Prequel figures.
In my mind they don't exist.
Saved myself at least $20.

I didn't keep my blue guards becuase I just plain didn't like them. This is actually the first series that I didn't keep the 2/48 chase. As for the PT issue, there are some characters that I wouldn't mind owning but if they were to start making lines solely of PT characters then I would stop buying sets/cases...

Hopefully the line is not dead, although the pulse rate seems very weak.

We hear this kind of talk everytime it seems like we have not heard from Medicom in a time frame that suits us.
If anything, they never hold to any kind of pattern, even after we think we found one.

I guess it doesn't make any sense for them to time it with a U.S. event of any sort, although the anniversary doesn't have geographical boundaries. If Parco is coming around the next update (6/23) maybe that is more logical.
I just don't think this line is complete until I have Luke and Leia Hoth, (and Hammerhead, and Amanaman, and squidface, and Bib, and a dignitary chase, and loads of inexpensive snowtroopers, and about 20 other things)

I was on the fence as far as weather I was going to keep buying a MC for myself on top of splitting a case with my friends, but this made that choice easy.
I'll stick with just splitting a case with my friends and pass on a MC.
I still like Star Wars and Kubricks enough that I will want some of these, but it does not hold the weight the original Trilogy does.
Its a shame, they had so many cool ones to make.
I'm sure we will see a few, but nothing compared to making entire Series.
Unless they decide to release em along side the New ones.
But it does not look that way since they are dubbed Series 8 & 9.

I think the figure choices are nice for PT stuff, but I'm just not so keen on this stuff, so I'll wait it out. I'm not saying I won't get the figures, but I won't be ordering cases or box sets and I sure won't be paying initial high prices for anything. I'll wait until I can get a set for maybe $40 or so and then buy it.
My feeling is these won't sell as well at all, though I could be off by 180 o Still, I just can't see the hardcore vintage Kubrick crowd being pleased by this news and that's been driving the sales, hasn't it?

Maul in kubrick form will be ok- I just don't know where they (PT bricks) fit in to the collection at this point, as I have moved further and further toward an OT focus and cleared out so much stuff in general. If I can't come up with a plan for displaying it, I probably won't buy it- I have become very anti-buy-something-to-put-in-a-box-and-rarely/if ever-see-it-collecting.

As for Medicom finally delving into the Prequels here, I guess it's the dreaded news we've all been hoping never to hear, but fully expected to at some point. I'm obviously disappointed that this probably means the OT is going to be taking a serious back seat for a while. In all likelihood, I'm going to pass on the Prequel Kubricks altogether. I'm already at wit's end with all the crazy carded stuff and high-priced chases these days, and these Prequel figures are probably going to push me over the edge and make me seriously alter my collecting habits with Kubricks.
I may just go with OT movie figures from now on, and forget all this Shadowtrooper and Uzay stuff. It's really starting to stretch the line too thin, IMO. It was fun to have the Droids R2 and Fett in there, and the 3PO, but I think that was enough for now. I'm all about the OT, so if Medicom is moving away from that trilogy now, it's just gonna mean more money in my pocket to spend elsewhere, I guess.
Sure, the Prequel Kubricks will probably look just as cool as the OT ones, but they just don't do much for me. I'm sure once I see them, I'll be tempted to cave in. But I think ultimately I'll be able to hold out on this stuff and wait for the OT stuff to show up again at some point down the line (hopefully). Otherwise, I guess I can finally focus on catching up on some of the chases I'm still missing...
Gotta agree with the guesses in here that it looks like Jar Jar's probably gonna be a chase. Ugh.

I wouldn't be sursprised if TPM Obi-Wan was the more common chase (like 3:48 or even 4:48) for Series 8, while JarJar and Watto end up being the harder 1:96 chase pieces.

The more I look at the list, and look in my cabinet, the more inclined I am to get them. I didn't want to see the prequel kubs yet, but I will hold out hope that Medicom will be back to the OT for a while after a 3 series run.
I guess I see the prequel list of potential kubs as being much smaller. There are a ton of characters in the newer movies, but none have really gained that unique reputation that the original characters did. Greedo, the cantina band, tusken raiders, jawas, ponda baba, yakface, the bounty hunters etc etc etc. Other than the Hasbro mantra of "every clone, any color" the prequel well isn't very deep beyond some main characters and extra Jedi.
So if prequel kubs is all they are going to offer for a while, I'll set up another cabinet. But my desire to army build is still strictly OT.

Based on what was said at the Parco show, both are slated as convention exclusive carded releases later this year or next... no official announcements yet on when/where.

Blue Uzay is from a foreign carded vintage figure produced back in the 80's. I think it was palitoy and produced in South America, but I'm no expert on vintage stuff. It was basically just a snowtrooper painted blue and given a new name - I don't think there's any SW reference to an actual character in the EU, but could be wrong about that.

I spoke with Robby.jp today. They expect to be taking pre-orders on Series 8 sometime soon, so I guess it's time to kick off Jeff's Kubrick Star Wars Series 8 Mega-Order. :)
All I will take orders for right now is Master Cases (4 boxes of 12, 100% chance of at least 1 chase figure), Boxes of 12 (approx. 50% chance of at least 1 chase figure), or Basic Set of 6. Since we don't know ratios yet, it's hard to guarantee any specific individual figure requests yet...

Since they are not officially up for pre-order, I have no firm prices yet. The final price will depend on a number of things - wholesale price, shipping from Japan, currency exchange rate, fees, etc.
If the prices hold similar to the past series, sets of 6 should run around $48 ($45-50) and a box of 12 should run around $83 ($80-85) plus shipping.

For comparison, Amazon.jp is taking pre-orders already and they are still selling them in boxes of 12, not in boxes of 24.

A while back, a number of us here at JD were qualified as retail sellers at a Japanese distributor - www.robby.jp Since Robby is no longer taking new clients (without extensively proving your retail ID), a few of us here order extras to help others get what they need.
What I do is try to figure out how many folks may be interested and then try to order enough to cover most folks needs. Makes it a bit cheaper for everyone than resorting to eBay. There are no guarantees unfortunately until the product ships. Only then will I know exactly how many cases I'm getting and exactly how much they will cost. So far though, we have been able to help most everyone who has asked, and at a price cheaper than eBay for boxes and cases.

I'm not sure on all that pre-order junk - that looks like that particular store and not straight from Medicom.
I guess we will have to wait for another one of "our" big stores (Spanky, Robby) to confirm which one is right...

The 23rd is the day that Medicom updates their site, but that is usually separate from retailers.
As for the Japanese stores, both Medicom On-line shop and Amazon Japan are still saying it's boxes of 12, not boxes of 24. Still no word from HLJ, Robby, or Spanky that I am aware of though...

Yeah, I've seen auctions like that, usually the words are there only to comply with Ebay policy and then they don't ship until they're in hand, some time down the road. I bought a MR helmet on ebay that was supposed to ship in 30 days. By the time MR got their crap together and the seller got it, it was a year later :-\

Robby is saying (and charging for) 12 figures per box, so I guess that goes against the earlier info that Yakface forums guy had:
Robby.jp price ~ $70 per box plus the shipping/fees/taxes/customs/etc.
That price is in-line with Series 4/5/6/7 from Robby. So, unless series 8 is magically 50% cheaper than the previous ones, they are indeed 12 figures per box and 4 boxes per master case. :D

No. Typically, that info is not known until they start shipping from Medicom.
Also, I would take any chase info with a huge grain of salt at the moment. Medicom is VERY stingey with that info and only once can I remember us knowing the chases before they shipped (Series 6, thanks to a leak via Star Wars Insider mag).
I'm new here but I'd be interested in buying a case of 12 out or the Mega order.

I think I'm in the minority (to say the least) but I'm very excited about the prequel Kubricks coming out, and in fact they are probably the reason I decided to go ahead and start collecting the Star Wars line in earnest. I just think they're really well done. And for all its faults, I have a soft spot for the Phantom Menace, so I'm especially looking forward to Series 8. I'm definitely hoping that one of the chases is a Jar-Jar. However you feel about him, he did have a major role in the movie, and I actually like the gungan design.

I wouldn't be sursprised if TPM Obi-Wan was the more common chase (like 3:48 or even 4:48) for Series 8, while JarJar and Watto end up being the harder 1:96 chase pieces.
I still think the three most likely chases are:
- Obi-Wan (easy chase, in the Qui-Gon box)
- Watto (rare chase, in the Anakin Box)
- and JarJar (rare chase, in the Padme box)

Possibly. I kind of looked at it as a nod to the future of the Star Wars Kubrick line and not so much an indication of the blending of the PT and OT from chase standpoint. But I guess we'll find out soon enough.

If Medicom ships them at the end of the month, then Robby should ship them by the first week of May.
Then, it should take about 5-15 days for them to get here from Japan, depending on how fast they make it through customs. I've had stuff get here in 5 days (2 days in customs) and I've had stuff get here in 17 days (8 days in customs). :-\
Add a few more days for them to get from me to you... I'd say 2nd week of May at the very earliest, probably more like late May by the time you will actually get your hands on them.

Medicom never releases that info officially... we usually get the "Box of 12" ratio, the "Master Case" ratios, and the chase figure news by monitoring the Japanese power sellers on eBay & Yahoo Japan.
The powersellers usually only post that kind of stuff once they get the cases in-hand, though sometimes they post the "box of 12" ratios a little early.
I think there was only one time that the chase info was leaked before the figures hit (Series 6).

One other thing, am I the only one that's a little disturbed by the fact that Amidala and 3PO appear to be taller than Qui-Gon? They should have really tried to capture how tall he is in comparison to other characters from the movie.

The only "bad" thing in my opinions is that Jar-Jar is 1:48. I was hoping that the "common" chase would be 2:48 so I could sell one from my MC to keep costs down.
I'm glad that Ani and Amidala are 1:12. I would rather have gotten battle droids as 4:12 and Maul as 2:12. Anyway, exciting days.

I really like the 30AC-type packaging. I think that since this is prequal based, it lends itself well to having a different packaging design than Series 1-7. I'm sure all the OT purists like that the packaging is a departure as well...

Series 1-5 were the same style, but I think it was Series 6-7 that had more of a "RotS" lave/mustafar style look to them (even though they were not prequel based).

Yes, it is ridiculous. And early auctions of recent releases are always a rollercoaster ride for a bit. Since the 2007 boxed set, it may have people jumping early afraid of shortages later. Yeah at a 1:48 ratio, $50-60 is about the right price range for where Jar Jar should end up after the dust settles.

Unless he opened the boxes at the bottom and resealed them. Very easy to do. Last couple of series some of my boxes were already mostly open at the bottom. It's a good way to keep the larger box intact for display purposes.

That did happen to me a couple of times from a distributor from Japan, the MC was sealed but 1 box was opened on the bottom.

My heart sunk when I got them as I was not sure if this was a MC or just 4 random boxes thrown together but after opening them the ratios worked out for a sealed MC. :)
These boxes are only held together with hot glue & can pop open with ease. I even had the odd individual boxes that were opened in a sealed box. Like Brent mentioned, these can be resealed.

Both the case Dale is referring to and my case were from Robby.jp. My master case was still sealed and packaged as it was supposed to be, but three of the four boxes in it looked just like the box on the left in Dales picture:

So completely easy to open and reseal and if you do glue just right, no one would be the wiser. Very easy. I had this happen on both series 6 and series 7 boxes. Can't remember about series 5 though.

Probably a damaged outer box and they just repacked it into one they were selling single boxes out of.
I completely agree about the weak glue from the factory comment. I think that's all it really is and there's actually more than enough glue residue visible to see it should have stuck and stuck well too. No idea why they didn't, I'd just be concerned about buying a loose box from a seller. Aside from the fact many sellers already know the pattern and pull the chase boxes. It seems many direct retailers don't do that though, so that's a good reason to avoid ebay for that. Plus Jeff's always available to whore out sell boxes from master cases too. Well, pre-sell anyway.

Yeah, I think that may have been the problem. They might not of had a proper size box to ship the whole outer MC box in & just placed them loose in another bigger box.

I don't think Robby or HLJ searches them ethier, just weak hot glue. You can see the dried glue in the pic below on the bottom lid. Looks like once around on the hot glue.

Two different distributors with kinda of the same glue problems, not there fault tho as these came right from Medicom. I/we switched over to Robby as I/we could get the Kuby's cheaper, if it wasn't for Robby then I/we would probably still be getting them at HLJ. I'm not worried about getting boxed Kuby's from ethier place, just what I have seen on the bay. :-\

I would assume that the two chases will be in separate boxes as I don't think they have ever put two different chase figures in the same box of 12 for the Star Wars series they have done.
All the Master Cases are packed the same way, right?
While they used to be packed the same for the first few series, I think Medicom figured out folks were cherry-picking because things were mixed up for Series 7... some examples:
Also as a warning, I opened a 2nd Mastercase and all the boxes were back to front. This had a Yakface in it too, but it was in Box 4. :o Same configuration. They had just flipped the boxes around. I wouldn't be surprised it was intentional.
Well my cases just arrived. I opened 2 and they were totally different from each other.
Some of the MCs had the chases in box 1 & 4, but others had the chases in box 1 & 2. We looked for a pattern so we could tell which was which, but we didn't find one... :-\

Oh well, no big deal I guess. I was hoping to keep at least one sealed box of 12... Hopefully it will still work out that way, but I won't get my hopes up.

Last time around, I got 7 Master Cases from Robby and ended up with a 3/4 split on Yak/Anakin, so I don't think they will all have Auras... or it seems unlikely anyway.

Initial thoughts:
I'm really glad I'm not one of those crabby old "anti-prequels/ewoks" fogies as I really like these and am very happy to finally have some new Star Wars based Kubricks (even JarJar). It seems like it's been so long waiting for them! Every time I get a new batch, I am always blown away by the level of detail they can pack into them when Hasbro can't seem to get things right at twice the height.
Amidala - very detailed paint aps and yes, she has painted legs under the skirt. ;)
Anakin - I love his helmet, but really wish he would have come with a hairpiece so you could have "regular" little Ani also.
3PO - much more detailed waist piece than any of the other 3PO figs they have done...
Battle Droid - Wow! I'm glad he's 3x per box because he's totally worth army building. The arms/torso/head are just great!
Maul - As seen in the pic above, his saber is actually in two pieces so you can have a fully lit double-saber or just one side lit. Very cool and not something I was expecting to see.
Aurra - Another great figure! I love the fact they got the antenna on her head when Hasbro couldn't. Her gun is also an amazing sculpt. I wasn't really thrilled to find out she was one of the chases, but now that I have her, I think she's a great figure.
Qui-Gon and Jar Jar - I like them, but not as much as the others...
With that said, I guess it's now time to start the search for Saesee Tiin. 8)

I opened mine as a sealed master case as always. There is a red and white Robby sticker over one corner of the outer box which makes me think it was opened before mailed out to me. I am done with them, i am going to cancel my series 9 order, I e-mailed them about this case but i am sure they wont do anything about it. So basically now i am screwed and have to dish out double the money to get the chase figures. So annoyed.

I can understand Medicom playing around with the placement within the case but I don't see the benefit for Medicom to eliminate them from some cases completely. I think a lot of people would just resort to e-bay than risk a chaseless case.
I'm hoping this is just a fluke and Medicom corrects their error for him.

I don't think Medicom benefits from the regular placement of the chase within a case at all. Retailers/wholesalers/resellers like Robby and others do. Medicom produces whatever they like and I have to imagine the bulk of the sales is within Japan and Hong Kong, not the US. Most of those sales are probably by the box or an individual piece, not a master case. Blind packaging is very normal in Japan and well accepted as I understand it.
My guess is there aren't too many collectors buying master cases to secure full sets overseas, given the ready availability of the product at retail there. The US is in a very different situation here and our purchasing patterns are very different. What we order is peanuts to Medicom.
A more random situation in Japan may benefit sales there, because then retailers can't cherry pick the chase pieces out prior to putting them on store shelves for the consumer. If a retailer can go and pick out all the chase pieces and ebay or yahoo auction them, the regular consumer in Japan/Hong Kong is screwed. Maybe Honorius is a store owner who sees no point in allowing customers to pay $10 per chase piece randomly when he could make 10-15x that at retail. Maybe the customers over there know this happens and have complained to Medicom that the fun and excitement of finding a chase piece is gone because regular street level retailers ARE cherry picking. If Medicom doesn't resolve that, the regular Asian consumer is screwed and stops buying their product that way, instead opting for ebay/yahoo rather than regular retail. Retail sales overall drop and that does impact Medicom.
My understanding is that Japanese consumers will buy multiples from boxes in hopes of finding a chase. I've done this here with Gentle Giant bustups in hopes of finding the chase piece. The retailer is happy and so is the manufacturer, because I have now purchased 8 battle droids or whatever to find a chase and maybe still have no luck. But with Gentle Giant stuff here, like Medicom in Japan, I know of retailers that cherry pick and I don't buy from them. If I can't find it with luck here, I'll go straight to ebay and buy one only to get the piece I want. That's 1 vs. 8 pieces. The retailer loses and so does the manufacturer. I've dropped my purchasing by 80%+. Not good. And that's the norm in Japan.
I can't remember if we even know the number of master cases produced. A couple thousand? Did Jeff, who accounts probably for the largest single sale of Star Wars Kubricks in the US (Ok, maybe BBTS has him beat) account for even 1% of sales overall? I doubt it. But I don't know, I just think I can understand why Medicom might want to change.
My hope is that Dan just had really bad luck and Medicom or Robby will help him out. I wouldn't hold my breath on it though.

Yeah, with a sample size of 2, it's hard to say if Dan's was just an oversight/error or if it was picked out by Robby for some reason. ???

If Robby.jp has an eBay or YahooJapan ID, it's pretty well hidden.
I still think it was just a factory boo-boo. Robby.jp is just a wholesaler, I don't think they deal with the general public directly for the most part. Unless it was an employee being naughty, I just don't think it was them that swiped the chase box.
I mean, if you're swiping chases, why not take the JarJar box too? Between all of us here, I think we've easily seen 25-30MC from Robby over the years and I don't remember this being an issue with Robby before. Why would they just start now?
Of course, if we see more MCs from Robby.jp showing up without chases, then that changes things... but for now I'm not going to convict Robby.jp on one bad MC.

I'm of that opinion too, that it isn't Robby that is the problem. It could be, but I don't think so. I still think it more likely that Medicom is messing with the packing rather than Robby messing with the MC/boxes.
The most likely scenario is just that Dan got a messed up box out of Medicom, via Robby. Unintentional, but still mighty painful.

I concur with Jeff & Brent. I don't think it was switched out at Robby, the messed up factory boo boo to me is the culprit. Heck, even back in the day of the Kenner vinty line there were factory boo boo's of miss carded figs or bubbles upside down etc...
As for Robby on the auction block, yeah that would have to be well hidden.

As for contacting Medicom, good luck there, I never saw a good way to get ahold of anyone there.

Maul - As seen in the pic above, his saber is actually in two pieces so you can have a fully lit double-saber or just one side lit. Very cool and not something I was expecting to see.
That's a great feature to have for Darth Maul -- he looks to be the best of the bunch.

I'm not sure what to do if there is no longer that guarantee. I really want to see what happens with the remaining 7 MC's that Jeff got from Robby... Anything can happen I suppose, but I would guess that the chances of finding two rare chases in a single MC would have to be very low...

Yeah, while some of the series put ratios or percents right on the boxes, for SW series all it says on the box is "Collection of 6 Figures + Secret Characters".

I completely agree. People are panicking far, far too quickly. We have to remember that essentially Jeff is functioning as a retailer with his Kubricks and got them very quickly. These haven't even been available at retail in Japan for more than a week yet as one of the distributors, Robby.jp, didn't get them until late last week.
Too soon to spend money. Especially too much money. Standard ebay rules apply. Patience Jedi, patience.

While this is certainly a discouraging response and I'm a bit nervous about my case at this point, I don't take Robby's word as the final word regarding chase placement/ratios/whatever. If they are strictly a wholesaler selling cases (and boxes???), they wouldn't have any idea if each case comes with a chase or not. Since it's not a guarantee stated by Medicom, I'm sure Robby doesn't want the responsibility of ensuring that a chase is found in each case and this is just a standard response. I think Medicom is your best bet at this point. I'm sure it will take some leg work to track them down, but their contact info has to be out there somewhere (maybe even ask Robby for what contact info they have).

Looking at my MC, I am 110% positive that this is a factory sealed MC. The number on the MC is C/No. 174.
Until I hear back from another party that requested a sealed box of 12, the MC will stay sealed. I want to be fair with him.

Thus far, the boxes are in the same set up as Jeff's.
Now that the 2 chases have been found right off the bat, I really see no reason to open the other 2 boxes as they should be just a normal assortment. I can't see them actually having any chase figures in them based on this assortment & the past MC's.
I will mention that the hot glue on these boxes are really strong this time around.

Its interesting (although probably not statistically significant) that there's been no SaeSee citing for the JD Kube Collectors. It also seems like I've seen a bit more Aurra's on eBay too. Oh well, I'm sure they will all even out eventually.

As for the helmet off Anakin, I had planned on doing the same thing you did with a spare Jedi Luke hair piece. You might want to try modifying it a little to make it look more like a bowl cut, then it might look more like him. I agree though about displaying both with and without a helmet. Makes it a hard decision when he's only packed 1:12...

For everyone who's keeping score at home:
Jeff's Master Case orders - 3 out of 3 Master Cases with both common and rare chases
DSJ's Master Case order - Both common and rare chases
Doc's Master Case order - Only a rare chase
Evenflow's Master Case order - Only a common chase
So 4 of 6 Master Cases have the typical assortment of rare and common chases that have been seen with past releases... There was a song back in the day that once stated '2 out of 3 ain't bad', however there are two members of JD that wouldn't agree with that assessment...

Our case came from a friend in Japan.
Don't know the source, just a local Toy/Comic shop I think.
We take turns on the Cgase figures.
Adam is up for Series 9.
Up until now, we took turns on the 1:96 and the other 2 people got the 2:48.
This time I was the only one to get a chase, they didn't even get to fight over the 1:48 (should be 2:48) Jar Jar.
Adam is up for the 1:96 next time, but being that we didn't get a 2:48 this time around, I'm not sure how to split them for Series 9 or what the ratios might be, they may mix it up again on us.

Is the ratio for Jar Jar actually correct at either 1/48 or 2/48? Given it didn't appear in your case, and assuming he's in half the cases, isn't he a 1/96 as well. It seems it might be a split of JarJar + Sing or Tinn and nothing to mix it up otherwise. So you either get two or one chase but the ratios are about the same per master case overall.

I agree, just sort of random speculation. Maybe the overseas sellers are expecting packing like previous series' just as we are? It's only been about a week since these were out.

My daughter's helped open my 1/2 mastercase last night- it was great, and I really like these figures, prequel or not. Since my mastercase is shared with another JD'er that hasn't picked them up yet, I am trying not to spoil his experience by letting him know what I found/didn't find.

Both boxes are still sealed thus far. I still think they are just the normal assortment but the way things are going with the MC's, who knows. It would be something to pull a chase or 2 from those boxes but highly doubtful. I will ponder on this more this weekend.

That's very strange. Its not like even a case of 12 was substituted as every case of 12 should have an Anakin. The case assortments coming from Medicom must be off a bit or cases have been mispacked.

So maybe the theory that the rare chases are in fact more rare this time around has more merit after our experience tonight...

Neither do I. I don't plan on contacting them at all. Honestly there's no point. I seriously think that they are f-ing with the cases. BrentS and I had almost the identical Box #4 with the exception of the row that had Aurra...

Everything else about that box was identical. The arrangment of Box #3 was different though between the two of us...

So you took the "sealed" box and ended up with just JarJar? That blows! Well, it blows no matter what, but you get what I'm saying. Unfortunately, I agree... I'm not sure that they would (could) do anything for you because it's a "secret" figure. I doubt they would send you a replacement because if they did that, then what was to stop anyone from e-mailing/calling and saying that they wre missing one just to try to get a free chase. :(

I really feel for you guys who are missing chases after buying a master case. That's just not right. I've been pretty lucky with regard to chases so far, but I imagine I should prepare myself to be disappointed when my box of 12 arrives.

Wow guys, I am bummed for you too. I remember how excited you have been since you started collecting kubricks, and hate to see you have such a downer experience. The whole idea of the mastercase purchases to me is to get 2 out of the 3 done, with maybe some cool extras. To go virtually chaseless blows big time. And we still haven't heard of a "bonanza" master case having 2, so just how rare did they make these guys, and why? Like I said, I feel for you, and hope this isn't a sign of things to come. It makes collecting the guys a little less appealing if absolutely everything is going to go sky high pricing, with no rhyme or reason to the cases.
On a somewhat related note, I sure hope they make a decent amount of the boxed and carded figures this year- If everything becomes a "chase", it is just too much.

So thinking about this more, it would seem as though there are three case variations that are floating around out there:
Case 1 - Jar Jar and Aurra Sing (6 Master Cases reported so far)
Case 2 - Only Jar Jar (2 Master Cases reported so far)
Case 3 - Only Saesee Tiin (1 Master Case reported so far)
So does that mean that the ratios should be based off of a # out of 144? It would appear that Jar Jar is a 2:144, and both Aurra and Saesee are 1:144 figures. I know that with Be@rbricks, they have the ultra rare 1:192 figures, so it doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility that Medicom could be doing the same thing with the Star Wars chases...
Just a thought... After last night's let down of not getting a rare chase, I'm just trying to rationalize things to make myself feel better...

I'm really hoping that it's just an anomaly of some kind with some of the first cases, but it's possible that the money being charged for the chases on ebay is actually closer to being accurate than we thought.

Trying to overanalyze the ratios will give you a headache... for all we know there are "Aurra only" Master Cases and "JarJar & Saesee" Master Cases out there too, thus screwing up the "overall" ratios even further. Let me see if I can get some info from my various overseas friends to see if they are seeing what we are seeing...

Well, the Maul box set and the Blue Stars Trooper were sold as "limited to 2007 pieces" and the AotC Box Set was sold as "limited to 2008 pieces".

Well, I was there... it was not pretty... he was swimming in 3POs, Qui-Gons, and Battle Droids hoping and hoping to get that second chase. Talk about a real downer. I'm having a hard time enjoying the ones I was lucky enough to even get. Brutal. Just plain Brutal.
We had such grand visions of the fun we were going to have with the 'bricks. I might still get to it, but the time isn't right now for that. Boo Medicom!

I have tried to make myself feel better but i wont until i get an Aurra Kubrick. Until then i am still bitter.
You know, I think I'm going to be bitter about this for a while and I've finally figured out why. With almost all of the other Kubrick series out there that I've started collecting (Alien, Marvel, Matrix Reloaded, etc), they list out the percentages of each figure and state what the ratio is for the rare chase(s). In the case of Marvel Series 1, I knew going in that the Venom Punisher figure was a 1:96, so every case wouldn't have one. With Star Wars, everything is hush hush and Medicom never comes out and says what the percentages and ratios are. We have to rely on information we get from Master Case purchases and Japanese retailers to know how everything breaks down. And now with Series 8, we are getting conflicting information. Jeff got the ratios from Instictoy and yet what we've seen is different than that...
Before Evenflow, Doc and I opened our Master Cases, I was fully expecting to get at least 1 common and 1 rare chase because that's how it was reported and that's what people had experienced with past releases (with the exception of Series 1 where it was only the rare chase). If I now know that the guarantee no longer exists, I'm going to be far less inclined to buy my figures by the case for the fear that lightning may strike again...

Technically, I got the ratios from three separate sources, all of whom said the same thing, but I get what you are saying.
Like I said earlier in the thread, the ratios that get posted really are just an approximation on rarity and not an exact science or guarantee for the SW sets. For example, the Gamorrean Guard from Series 7. Is he 1:12 because he's packed 1 per box? Or is he really 3:48 because some MCs had Yakface in one of the Gam boxes? Or is he more like 7:96 since maybe half of the Master Cases had 4 of them and half had 3 of them?
I really do think that our sample size is both small and skewed and probably not an accurate reflection of the overall total distribution of the secret figures. I mean, if we were basing the ratios on just what we've seen...
- should JarJar be 1:48 since the majority of MCs have one?
- or should he be 2:144 (1:72) since we've seen 2 MC with and 1 MC without him?
- or should he be 8:432 (1:54) since 8 cases had him and one didn't?
You could drive yourself batty trying to figure it out since you will most likely never have enough data to know for sure... :-\

I'm sticking with my personal theory that Medicom got too much negative feedback from its Japanese customers that the retailers (or certain customers) there were cherry picking pieces out of cases ruining it for everyone. The flaw in the theory is that the chase pieces appear in the same place basically WHEN they do appear. Don't know anything really though.

I don't think I am Sith said this in his earlier post and I'm too lazy to check. However, my Jar Jar was not in the original spot compared to where his was. Mine was in the first BD box in the "back" of the assortment. However, my Aurra was in the same location as many others that were seen. His Jar Jar was in the front portion of the box.
In both our cases, Jar Jar was in the "Box #3" and Aurra was in "Box #4" for me.

Depends really on what happens in Japan. If the chase figures end up "seeming" like the normal ratios, they'll end up at the normal secondary market prices. If Japan is seeing a similar trend to what's been occurring with folks on here, I could see prices rising to a certain extent above what chases normally sell for. Right now, fairly obviously the chase price trend is boung to be JarJar<Aurra Sing<Saesee Tinn for values. But even as far back as series 1 with the two Fett chase we've never really known ratios real well.
I'd sure be happy if Simon popped in for a visit and shed some wisdom. :-\

Up until the end it was a fun night. I think I was equally mad at not finding a rare chase as I was that Brent didn't get a chance to really celebrate his first Master Case the way he had envisioned it.

To what I've learned from the dealer/seller here in HK, the earlier ratio of 1:96 2:48 doesn't seems to complies with S8 and agreed that chases are also hard to find in Japan. (Rare to find the chase even in Japan Yahoo Auction..... :-\)

I just spent 1/2 an hour running through the series 8 thread- a fun read, then a bit of a downer at the ending. From all the OT speculation, to the angst/excitement about prequel kubricks, the giddy watching of the tracking numbers, and finally to a bizarre ending with vastly different mastercase assortments.
With series 9 coming so soon, and the mail away figures just starting to hit, the excitement should continue for a while yet!

So I've got a question for all your veteran Kubrick collectors. Assuming that the rare chases are slightly rarer than 1:96 (as our initial estimates believe) and that they seem to be somewhat split up regionally.... where do you expect these chases to peak at in terms of eBay price point. Am I fool thinking that the $140-150 range may be a good price now?
I started collecting Kubes pretty late and I've managed to snag a Yak and Tarkin both under a $100 but I don't see very many other rare chases at that price point these days.

I think we are in some new territory for chase figures, here are a few reasons:
The cases- the last 5 series had 2 semi-rares (2/48) and 2 rares (1/96)
Series 7 semi rare: Blue senate guard. Rares: Yakface and old school spirit anakin
Series 6 semi rare: Wedge. Rares: Tarkin and Veers
Series 5 semi rare: Han Endor. Rares: Ponda Baba and Blue Snaggletooth
Series 4 semi rare: Han or Luke stormtrooper. Rare: Dagobah Darth
Series 3 semi rare: Han hibernation sickness. Rares- Logray and vinyl Jawa
Series 2 had the two different sandtroopers, but every box had a white pauldron sandtrooper. It also had the two different cantina band figures, but as far as we can tell they were produced in pretty much the same numbers. Indiana Jones was the only super chase in this set.
Series 1 had 2 rares (2 different Bobas) but no common chase, if that is even a phrase.
So Series 4-6 were pretty comparable for the number and ratios of rares. The rares have hovered around the $100-120 range. Series 3 is a bit outside the average, with Logray and vinyl jawa showing up more rarely and going for a bit more.
With all of that said, I think there a few reasons the series 8 chases will be more expensive.
# 1, the dollar. The real currency in the world is oil, and dollars buy less of it than they used to. Since these are a world market toy, and bidders from all countries bid, I expect collecting to simply cost us more.
# 2, the cases. The lack of a "common" chase means each master case has less resell value, and less pieces to put on the market. The second common chase piece was something of a bonus- you could sell it to defray some of your initial expenses, or if it was cool (or in the case of series 4) you could keep or trade it for the other. Factor in that a number of cases shipped to different people had no "rare" chase, and we can only assume the rares are more rare than they have been in recent series.
# 3, the prequels consumers. The collecting community that embraces all of the movies equally or (shudder) prefers the new, is a definate wildcard in the kubrick world. I recently auctioned off a fairly substantial lot of clones, and was shocked at what they went for. There is an audience there with money looking for new product or maybe a niche type collection.
Add on to # 2 that news of the scarcity is still limited to groups pretty much in the know about these things. As the series lingers and more people realize the rares are harder to find, speculation may very well increase the prices.
So, the pessimist in me says Jar Jar is probably at least as valuable as Dagobah Darth. His case ratio appears to be the same, and Dagobah Darth is a 10 second movie side-trail, Jar jar is pivotal in the first movie and arguably the entire series.
Add to that the rare-less cases, and I think these are going to end up being closer to the series 3 range.
The one piece that could alter all of this substantially is production numbers. And medicom doesn't talk about those things any more than Hasbro does. Production numbers seems to be the difference between the 2004/2005 box sets and the 2007 set, a magnitude of 600% when it comes to current prices.
So only time will answer the question, but I didn't waste any time getting my missing pieces.

Thanks for the well thought out post Dan. It was so well crafted, it pushed me over the edge (as I figured some one would do). I can't believe I just did it, but I just bought a Saesee Tiin for around $160 shipped from Hong Kong. What the hell am I thinking buying a single 60mm toy for $160.

I received my case from Jeff late last week (THANKS AGAIN JEFF!!!) and due to a busy weekend wasn't able to open them until late Sunday evening. I pull both an Aurra Sing and Jar Jar. They were in the same location as Jeff's (boxes 3 & 4). I'm very relieved to have pulled the chases but still feel for those who didn't as I know it was only a matter of chance that I didn't get one of those cases.

Yeah, that's me. I've got a good job and not married yet so I have to spend the cash on the Kubes while i can. I didn't think I'd win this one since I wasn't going to be around when the auction ended. Thought I'd get outbid at the last second. But with my true passion of Penguins hockey marching through the playoffs I will have less money and time to spend on the Kubes while trying to not only acquire tickets but get off work too.

I could have splurged for the faster shipping from HK, but didn't because I'm cheap. :P I actually got a great deal on my Saesee Tiin, thanks to a little leg work...
First, I picked up a 2nd Aurra from a friend in Japan ($82 shipped). I was going to try to trade Aurra for Saesee, but when everyone started pulling Aurras from the Robby MCs, I knew that probably wasn't going to work, so I switched plans.
I picked up a "set of 8" (basic 6 plus JarJar and Tiin) for $270 shipped from eBay. Then, I sold a "set of 8" (my extra Aurra plus a set of 6 and the JarJar from my MC) for $240 (after fees/shipping) on eBay.
When my "set of 8" got here today from HK, I took the Saesee Tiin and the JarJar (to replace the one I sold) and added them to my display. The basic 6 from the set of 8 got dumped back into the "S8 sell pile".
After the legwork, I figure my Saesee Tiin cost me about $112 shipped. Not too bad considering some of the prices out there... :)

I got my Saesee Tiin today. I'm very pleased to have him but as with all my chases I end up scrutinizing the details. Mine has wobbly legs and it seems like his right leg is a little longer than his left. Also the horns have a lot "flash" on them left over from the casting process. However, I'm not anxious to try and fix those.
Seeing this figure in person really makes me want to get Kit Fisto, Plo Koon, and Ki Adi Mundi as Jedi Kubricks!

So I was looking at the Saesee Tiin chase and was wondering why Medicom decided not to put the head tattoo on the back of his head. In every Hasbro release that there has been, the tattoo is there in some iteration. I'm used to seeing very good attention to detail with the Kubrick figures and was surprised that they left this detail out.

Edit, I see you figured it out. You must look very closely at the clear baggies these Kuby's come in. I had one that the accessorie fell out as it was not heat sealed at one end.

Speaking of accessories, I should have posted before- consider me the unlucky lesson-learner for the rest of you opening Aurra- the rifle strap may look like you can move it, but doing so "moves" the rifle in half. I glued it back together and since I can't see ever selling it, it doesn't matter much. But it sucked, none the less. Sucked in a bad way.

OK DSJ, this may sound insane, but looking at you Qui-Gon, you need to put his other foot on the peg then place the saber in his right hand so it goes across his chest and he will be holding the saber handle just fine without having to burn his hands,

Got my box of 12 today. No chases unfortunately. I was hoping for a Jar Jar... They're very nice figures, though. I just wish they had a young Obi-wan.

Good call. It is the John Anderton head from Minority Report. I had some extras and it occurred to me that it might work as an Obi-wan. I used a pin-vise to drill a hole in his head and used part of a paperclip for his padawan braid. I obviously used an extra Qui-gon for the body, and took the tip of part of Qui-Gon's hair to use for the little pony tail in the back of his head. (I drilled another hole in his head and into the piece of hair and superglued a short piece of paperclip in it to connect it to his head, if that makes sense.) I repainted his hair brown (it had been black) and painted Qui-gon's inner robes and pants white. The hard part was getting the creases in the robes to look good, and I was only partially successful at that. I also had to give him new hands, since Qui-Gon has a different skin tone than the Minority Report figures, and I wanted the head and hands to match. I don't really have a lightsaber for him at the moment, since I don't have an extra blue blade. But I'll have to say, it really wasn't that hard to make him, and he really fills a hole in the series 8 lineup.

Just won a Jar-jar on ebay for $50 shipped. 8)
As a rule, I don't try and get chases, but he's a central character and I don't hate him as much as a lot of people do. This is the about the best price I've seen so far.

I concur. I have real trouble dropping $100+ on the chases because they're not OG . . . a $50 Jar Jar was hard enough to accept! :-\

If this were any of the OT series, and I got boned out of a chase like I did with this one, I would be
pretty peeved. As it stands, I only missed out on Jar Jar (not my turn for the big chase), which I
would have sold or traded with Doc or something anyway

Yeah, this is really frustrating to me that I'm only now getting into these Kubricks, because I missed out on the release of all the original trilogy figures. I wouldn't mind getting McGregor's Obi Wan or Django Fett (that's how it should be spelled :) ), but of all the others released or announced, I'll probably pass. I'm sure that this has been beat like no dead horse ever has on Star Wars forums, but excepting the opening scene of Phantom Menace (which I really liked, and which gave me a lot of hope), that whole trilogy just depressed the hell out of me.

I've been slowly catching up with my collection of Star Wars Kubricks lately. I have all of Series 8 bar one....Saesee Tiin. I've been watching ebay for the last few months and have seen practically severy figure come up bar this one. I can't believe that he really this rare. Any ideas of an alternative place to purchase?

I had agreed to buy this Saesee Tiin from the seller outside of eBay for $150 (I knew I wouldn't be able to be online when the auction was finishing). When I tried to paypal him the money I got an error message that the transaction couldn't be completed. I told him this and got the followig response:
"i am not sure you are vaild user. please forget it. i don't want sell to you."
Guy even blocked me from bidding on the auction!!! I can't believe the price it ultimately went for...It feels like I am never going to get this figure...

Does anyone have a suggestion for an alternate saber for Saesee Tiin? I purchased a group of chases on eBay and Saesee showed up without his green saber. Not sure if I'll get resolution from the seller but I'm trying to figure out what a good alternative would be. Are the two Luke Jabba figures the only other green sabers? I can't seem to recall any others.

Great ideas. Mine was saberless as well, so I went with one of Grievous's extras. I also used a Qui-Gon for my custom Cade Skywalker.
