Joe Defender / Re: Gentle Giant Jumbo Joes

I am guessing you haven't seen these in person?  I didn't get it either until I saw a Jumbo Boba Fett in person. I loved that toy as a kid, but this felt like more than just a large version of that. It is a thing of beauty, a piece of art you can appreciate separate from the original. I imagine if you have strong memories of playing with the original Joes, then one of these would give you the same feeling.

I have seen the Dengar in person so that might be part of why I don't care for these. I am also a child of the 90s and early 00s so that may help explain my views. ;D I'd be just as baffled if they made some jumbo POTF2 style figures, but some Jumbo Jurassic Park dinos might have me changing my tune pretty quick.

I'll never understand this concept. I imagine these figures are pretty much free money for Gentle Giant, but I can't believe collectors eat them up. Why buy an up-sized replica version of an old figure with simplistic sculpting when you could just buy the actual toy you had as a kid instead?

Found the Biker Scout w/ Speeder Bike set at Target today. They're having a BOGO 40% off sale on all toys this week, so was able to get 2 of these for $32 + tax each. Takes a bit of work to get the Scout on the bike properly, but once he's on it makes for a great display. Check the JD Facebook page for a photo ;)

Why is this sale not at every Target?!?  :P I am quite jealous of your haul and discount!  ;D

Here you go, brother...enjoy the goodness!

Oddly enough I missed the picture of Otachi, will have to hunt that down tonight. That was definitely the next needed Kaiju though. And then Slattern.

Soooo awesome. Even Axehead, a straight repaint, looks pretty sweet!

Here's that otachi pic:

SDCC Skybound exclusive Ezekiel figure(s) should be going up for sale at some point soon at their website if anyone is interested...I guess they will announce via Twitter when sales are open. This is one of the few SDCC exclusives I didn't preorder this year, so I will be watching this closely. Good luck to all!

Ezekiel is up man!

Yeah, i am hoping so too. Man, did you see all the new swag at NECA's display last night?!?! They are CRUSHING Hasbro.

18" Cherno Alpha looks mondo-awesome, as well as the Plasma Cannon Gypsy Danger.

2 new Gypsy re-sculpts?!? With battleship accessory? YES PLEASE!

All new Jaeger wave with 3 never before seen Jaegers not even in the film that all look amazing? YES PLEASE!

Pretty sure this is the best thing I will see coming out of SDCC this week. They have done a fantastic job with this line!

Do you have a link? I only saw the pic of  Otachi that Neca had up this morning.

I was just able to order the SDCC Exclusive "Ending Credits" Jaeger set from NECA's website. Cost plus $13 shipping, best deal I ever got on an SDCC exclusive.

Now I kinda wish I hadn't predordered one for $85, but who knows if my seller will even be able to get one out there. And if so I'm pretty sure I can get my money back for the other one off the secondary market.

Scunner arrived today from TRU.com too!

Dang, looks like I may be stuck with 2 of these now. (The SDCC sets) Last year nearly all of my preorders fell thorugh, pretty much the opposite this year though. I'd rather it be this way honestly though.

I'm sure it won't be too difficult to sell or trade the extra. It seems like an item that will only go up in value, especially with all of the Pacific Rim media coming over the next few years.

According to Walgreens, this is due to arrive 9/2.

I predict this will be the next new 6" figure anyone finds in a store. Which means we will be getting Vader, Jedi Luke, and the Black Pauldron Sandtrooper before Anakin and the Clone Trooper, which should have been out months ago.  ::)

I'm actually okay with that. The sooner we get Vader the better!

The skeletons look great, and I really want to army build them. I want to get one in-hand first though to make sure the final product is sturdy. I'd be somewhat disappointed if the skeletons end up like Hasbro's Battle Droids.

Yeah... so I splurged on this one. I went for the $500 "all-in" on the last day. I think there is something like 40+ figures including blank bodies. It was an irresistible deal!

That looks pretty slick. I love the egg with face hugger. While I probably won't purchase due to price (I was spoiled by some $10 Neca Xenos) it's great that Hiya packed in a bunch of extra stuff. I really can't wait for the Marines... I'll cave on those for sure.

Nor was I, till I watched a guy's pretty good review of one...  Light-up display panels inside the cockpit.  They help illuminate another surprise in there too.  All the little figure would need is a bottle of lotion to go with that other surprise the review revealed.

They look like solid toys, and apparently now you also get a 2nd set of tracks that either A) look cooler, or B) look cooler AND move.  I guess the initial tracks (solid "rubber band" style) don't move real well, so they include a 2nd set, and a tool, to put individually linked tracks on the drive/road wheels.

My fragile little mind was blown.

Ah, now that you mentioned the "other surprise" I do remember the lights, and I probably watched that same review. The second set of tracks sounds like a nice addition. I'm still not too keen on the prices for the vehicles, but the Quad Eyes is on my radar. I am leaning towards getting the smaller upcoming vehicle (the Raptor, I think?), as a way to "test" them out before seriously considering the bigger (and pricier) offerings.

$100 seems fair for a low production run playset. Very cool that Super 7 is opening this up for a pre-order for everyone not attending SDCC. I must admit I am tempted.

Jesse, is the Acid Rain statue/base set made from resin? Since I don't have any non-plastic toys, I am trying to get an idea of the construction/weight of the playset.

A) electronic

Oh? I was not aware of this... please tell me more!  :)

I'll only be collecting stuff that is on-par with what I already have. Black Series/TVC-style 3 3/4" figures, some 6" figures, and any compatible vehicles. I bought some of the 5POA figures on the cheap last year and have since regretted it, so if the movie lines focus mostly on 5POA (like Rebels) I will be skipping a lot of product.
