If I'm drunk when I watch it, does it count?

All lists are inevitably flawed.  Why do you suggest this one is?  Particularly given you've not seen over half of the movies listed do you think your statement is reasonable?

I don't know about that...

AFI's 100 Years...100 Movies is an 18-month celebration that began last November when AFI invited more than 1,500 leaders from across the American film community - screenwriters, directors, actors, producers, cinematographers, editors, executives, film historians and critics, among them - to choose from a list of 400 nominated films compiled by AFI and select the 100 greatest American movies. The nominated films were all made in the first 100 years of American cinema (1896-1996). Movies produced after 1996 were not included.

"Annie Hall" at 31, above "Rebel Without a Cause"? Not to mention no "East of Eden", "Schindler's List" in the Top 10 infront of "Ben Hur", with "A Streetcar Named Desire"? "Fargo" even being on the list, while the greatest slapstick film of all time, "Duck Soup", relegated to the bottom 15?

Lists like these hold about as much value as Oscars, which to me are worthless, because it's all politics and favoritism. As for my statement, it's an opinion of course, but I'm definately not alone.

Dare I say that I actually agree with you?  :)  I don't recall ever seeing a list like this that I didn't find to be a complete crock of ****, whether it be movies, music, or otherwise, and whether it be a "best of" or "worst of" list.  The entities that concoct lists like these will praise the movies that are popular to praise and bash the movies that are popular to bash.  Personally, I find them all useless and find it much more reliable to formulate my own opinions than to listen to these nitwits.

As far as the subject matter (movies), I'm the farthest thing from an expert so I couldn't even say how "accurate" I think this list is.  I've only seen 17 of them.   :-[
