I got to see some of these recently...  I'm mixed.

The warping really pisses me off...  I loathe plastic minis, plastic pre-painted are even worse, but the way some of the ships turned out just looks horrible and I've heard that straightening them isn't terribly simple either (IE: heating them up isn't always working, they're just really shoddy quality).

The bigger ships sound like there's some real nice ones.  Plus the sculpts are of ships never seen before sometimes...  I'm thinking I may collect just some pieces from the game but not the whole game.

That coupled with some really negative reviews of the gameplay are kind of stealing the wind from my sails here...  The SW Minis line has a lot of ups and downs it seems.  I may go back to just putting this whole game on hold and later picking up what I want in some bulk and ignoring the rest of it.

I hear ya... I pre-orderd 4 cases of this stuff and while I'm mostly please with the ship models, that's about it.  The class 4 starfighters definitely bother me-  and it's really just with the OT ships too- X-Wings, B-wings, TIEs that have the warping issues.. it's like they tried to give the ships turning or action poses and totally muffed it.  The fact that the Map is so plain is also a detractor-  space and planet on one side (Tatooine or Coruscant).
It's neat to have the Wild Kardde, Ventress's ship, the Virago, Grevious' fighter, and others though.. some of them are just awesome.... and some aren't.

While the CMG started as a collectors thing and turned into having a fun playability as well.. this is just gonna be a collection methinks.   I'll play it a few more times with differnt ships just to be sure... but my gut tells me this is going on a shelf somewhere.

They have this new policy that they won't take ANYTHING back without a receipt or gift receipt...
it's totally the suck!

Did you buy it with a credit card? Maybe TRU can look up the purchase that way. They do at Target.

Yeah.. no dice... but it's been resolved- the guy I'd purchased it for decided he wanted a 2nd one to open after seeing my open ATAT in my Endor display.

This is a great 12"....one word......STUFF!!!!!

Yes, lots of stuff!  I really like these 12"'ers like the 100th Luke, Ultimate Jango, ROTS Vader/Anakin.  Accessories kick butt.  The Luke was pretty hard to find, and I never saw one until I happened to spot one up on a shelf in an EB in the local mall, ran right over and snagged it!  I think it might have even been clearanced or mistkingly put on sale!

 ;D

In the spirit of the Great Unboxing of 2006, it's high time I added these to the list... the question is.. what to do with the leftover parts?

The only thing I've actually seen so far is Rep Been... I picked him up in Dallas last weekend.... but I'm in DC... there are only a few from the wave I want- Gagra, PodPeople, Naboo Soldier... everything I see here is GB/Heros, Hoth wave... it's all pegwarmers from the older stuff.

Sigh,

Well... all this unboxing has got me in a fervor!   I'm even thinking about de-carding my POTF/POTJ/EPI/SAGA figures at this point...
I've got my OTC, POTJ, and ROTS hanging from the walls... so those would be the "last".   The others are all not so wonderfully boxed away... think of all the space I could save if I just tore them out of the package?

Methinks I need help....

Thanks, then I don't need this one.

I hear ya.. I was almost there myself but then was able to ebay my FAO shuttle for about twice the cost of the new one... so I caved... now I've got the new one (for Endor scenes) and the old one for the Emperor....

"We chose a contemporary styling to the logo for a fresh look at the brand, and created a distressed architecture to celebrate its long heritage," says Pilot partner Chris Ford. "It was important to deliver an ownable shape to the action figure packaging in particular." adds Concannon.

Apparently they put a lot of thought in, yet didn't notice that it's just generally wobbly looking.  Of course, maybe this guy's just going over my head.  After all, I don't know what "ownable" even means.

Well if ownable means collectible, they clearly don't get it and aren't collectors themselves.  Presumably they want people to want to collect these on cards.  Again the point about too many corners.  Also look at the VOTC/VTSC, those are ownable - classic, clean and even without the included star case would be easy to maintain in MOMC condition.  Not getting it.

Chris Ford sounds like a dime-a-dozen MBA.  What the hell does it mean to "create[ ] a distressed architecture to celebrate its long heritage"?

Huh?

First, what does "distressed architecture" mean, and second, what does it have to do with anything's "long heritage"?

Chris Ford is a douche, but I personally don't care about the packaging because I'm an opener.

I don't care about the packaging either as I've become more "opener" than not...   I also don't see myself caring for much of this line anymore with Repacks/Repaints Galore coming next year as well... I'll end up with the new characters but that's about it.

« on: November 22, 2006, 09:15 AM »
;DTHAT"S the best sculpt of Qui-Gon I've ever seen. Now I'm debating on opening it the box is even cool. That's OK I'm still debating on opening my Obi-Wan as well.Of Course I like the Japanese version(Qui-Gon & Queen Amidala)too, but SS is so much better!

Debate no more my friend!  Unless you really care about the tape holding the plastic shells together, there is no reason not to open them up-  you can always put them back in good as new!   Sideshow did a great job with the packaging to give us an "opener" we can just put back into the packaging!   Just be careful not to tear the tabs and you'll be please with the results!

nope, its gonna be Aurra Sing. and grevious is dead. unless you count N-K Necrosis

Gotta be Aurra... I'd love it to be her.... small possibility that it could be Asajj... as far as I've read in the comics, she hasn't been confirmed dead.   I don't see N-K in it at all....

If she does the theme song, I'll slit my wrists. I wanted to impale myself after hearing that god awful theme song she did for that Bond film... I don't think I could take her massacring a Star Wars theme.

After the success of "Once More With Feeling" I'm shivering at the thought that the Star Wars TV show will in fact, be a Star Wars musical...........

Shudder....
