Guardians of the Galaxy
« on: October 30, 2013, 03:20 PM »
I found a whole bunch of Guardians of the Galaxy listings on Hasbro's Customer Service page. It appears the movie will be getting a fairly large toy line with all of the usual figures, vehicles, and role-play stuff. Here are screen-caps of the listings:

I'm guessing most of these items will be on display at Toy Fair next year. Unfortunately only a handful of the listings have size/scale information, but hopefully the figures and spaceships will be 3.75".

I hope we get both 4 and 6 inch scale. Thanks for the info.

Thanks for posting this.  I really hope we do see an awesome toyline for Guardians.  I'm still not sure how it will end up doing at the box office, but after getting more into the Guardians of the Galaxy over the past couple years (after not really knowing anything about them previously), I've really gotten into that world and can't wait for the movie.  It could make for a pretty neat toyline with the various characters, aliens, ships, etc.

Yahoo has a nice preview up of the upcoming line of Guardians of the Galaxy Infinite Legends (with Groot BAF!).  Shown are Rocket Raccoon, Star Lord, Gamora, Drax, and Groot (with two more to be revealed).  Honestly, depending on what we see for Star Wars at Toy Fair this weekend, I think these are my most anticipated toys this year:

Unfortunately, to get Groot, you have to get the rest.  He's the B-A-F.

I've been getting the 3.75" Marvel Cinematic Universe figures as they come out - when I saw the rumor list for this line I was concerned since it seemed like A LOT of figures.

I'm kinda glad now to find out that instead of doing a 3.75" line they're doing a 2.5" line so I can skip it entirely.

I'm sure for the next GotG movie - they'll have a 3.75" line on-par with Thor: The Dark World and Captain America: The Winter Soldier lines - four-five figures of key characters from the movie.

I can appreciate Hasbro trying to focus on the ships and what-not for this movie - and that being the motivation for scaling the figures smaller, but I think NOT having it compatible with the 3.75" line is going to hurt it and these things will be clearanced out and available from Five Below before we know it.

Couldn't agree more.  With the Guardians closely tied to the Avengers, I would have considered getting these, but not in a totally different scale.  The figures don't look that great anyway.  I wonder what research Hasbro has that is guiding them towards even smaller figures of a different scale.   I get that they will cost less to make, but high profit margins on products that don't sell is not good business sense.

I know I'm likely in the minority, but I'm really excited for the Guardians movie and the toys - at least the Legends stuff.  Not sure what to make of the smaller scale stuff, since it doesn't fit in with anything else.  Seems destined for clearance, unless it really takes off with kids.  It is something like $5.99 for a two pack, so at least its cheap.  If it had been 3 3/4" like the rest, I'd be all in - at this scale, I'm not so sure.  Too bad too, because I'd like to get those spaceships as well.

Aside from a couple of the characters, I wasn't familiar with the Guardians as a kid really - but got to know them more during the whole Annihilation stuff in the comics and especially with the recent relaunch by Bendis.  Now they are some of my favorite characters, and I can't wait for the movie.  Rumor is we might get a trailer tomorrow, so fingers crossed.

I noticed that the Guardians Legends have been going up for preorder this week.  They are available as a set at BBTS, but they are also online individually at Amazon (and probably elsewhere) if anyone is interested.
