Customizing Tips and Tricks / Re: Casting of the Twins - wip
« on: April 26, 2006, 05:01 AM »
You can use just about anything on resins Paul...  They take oil-based paints well (or so far with every brand and type I've used, haha...  There's always that one time it ain't gonna work though, or so I tell myself in the back of my mind).

Anyway, it's more versatile in that regard...

I gotta get off my pooper and do more casting but it's been on my backburner for a while now.  I've got mold rubber here I can only hope is still useable.  Ugh.

Usually warping from packaging can be reversed with some hot water...  plastic generally takes its original shape well if you heat it some.  Run a little hot water, hold the figure under it and gently bend the pieces back...  Should work.

No doubt...  Hopefully they blew their "cheapness" load on it the first time, and that a wide-release one to all retailers would make it at the $20 pricepoint.  I'm not counting on that though unfortunately.  To me it'll be actually insulting to see a squat-winged TIE on shelves, which is what I wholely expect to see.   ::)

Have you been finding these down your way at retail much Paul?

Up here, I've yet to see a vinty out, but I heard tell Target and WM has both put out some of them.  nothing from TRU I'm aware of though.

I don't mind the #6 myself...  It kneels better, so for me the figure is somewhat a trade-off.  I like having some in the army for that purpose, not to mention they had rifles and #41's didn't...

With the battlepack troops and repaint #6's it's less an issue to me with the rifles though since most Shocks I noticed had carbines not rifles.  Still, some #6's for kneeling poses aren't a bad thing to me.

What pisses me off most about that pic is that that Target is selling figs for $5.89. What gives?

I caught that too and was none-too-pleased either.  $6.59+ here so $5.89 looks like a dream at this point.

Star Wars figures are as irritating as gas prices these days.

I just got my Mace Saber in the mail from Jared...  First, thanks to Jared for that, but second...  Wow is that a bright, vibrantly colored saber.  I was thinking it wasn't as purple as it should be, and that they had trouble with it, but man this thing is pretty spiffy.

I'm up to 3...  Maul's, Vader's...  They're my next purchases, and E3 Obi-Wan, Yoda, and Palpy sabers are the ones I'll pick up if they're made ever.

These are addictive...

Like Jared needs MORE great feedback? :)

Jared sold me a Mace Windu FX Saber that I still owe him some $ on...  I got it today though, and it's fantastic.  Super bright too.  My mother even said, "oh wow that's pretty".  haha

Thanks Jared, and I owe ya...  literally.  I appreciate your patience! :)

Hey Hasbro! / Re: What we really need !!!!!!!!!!!
« on: April 26, 2006, 12:53 AM »
Well...  I want the Ice Cream Maker Guy (ICMG) too...  This site's ICMG headquarters! :)

But yeah, Palpy sorta got shafted in ROTS's line...  Few "good" figures of him.  A couple SA versions of him are overdue now.  I want an SA one of him in the red robes...  SA Mace to go with him, and we're set...

They do read this section Mutantpoo, and the "Dear Hasbro" area on a few other sites.  Not all of them, but there are ones they do read, ours included, so speak up by all means.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Gas Prices
« on: April 26, 2006, 12:47 AM »
We're between $2.95 and $2.99...  above the supposed national average.  For a low cost-of-living area like Pittsburgh, that is sucking hard for a lot of people.  Then again as I watch the moron in the gas-guzzler complain about gas prices on the 6:00 news, I'm tempted to shoot the TV Elvis style.

Not to mention the petition for Wilrow Hood, the ICMG, has been a front page staple here at JediDefender.com since I have been around...  WIth him having a legitimate shot at being made for once, I'm all in for Hood...

Hood is Good in 2006!

There's been reports of them now for a week or two Dan...  Out in PA I know they're surfacing, though I've yet to notice them here in the Pittsburgh area at all...  Then again I don't frequent K-Mart if I can avoid it, haha.

Word is the price is up to $30 or more...  I've only heard a couple times of it being around $26 or so for the set...

The price isn't horrendous...  5 figures for $30 isn't THAT bad, but the Anakin in the set makes it a bit harder to choke down.

1) SA Rebel Trooper (Hoth Gear)...  The ultimate Hoth Rebel Trooper in the footsoldier white uniforms.  Working holster w/sidearm, removable hat/goggles, rifle, removable backpack.

2) SA Hoth Storm"Snow"Trooper...  Cloth Kama/skirt, cloth facemask, holster for E11 blaster, and that'd suit me fine.

3)  SA Hoth Han Solo...  A cloth hood w/removable hat, working holster w/pistol.  The perfect Han Solo for his scenes on Hoth.

4)  SA Rebel Snowspeeder Pilot (Dak)...  Average sized SA Pilot w/removable helmet.

5)  SA Snowspeeder Luke...  Smaller, removable helmet...  Good Dagobah X-Wing Luke too.

6)  SA Bespin Luke...  Working holster, hilt for belt, saber...  Battle damaged head pack-in, and removable hand.

7)  SA Hoth Rebel Tech...  Boring as he may be.  Removable hat, headset, chair, tools...  He could double as a command center tech with the gear.

8 ) SA Hoth Leia...  Include Ion Control Panel or other random computer console and maybe a chair.

9)  Ice Cream Maker Guy...  Must be done.

10) Medical Gown Luke...  Good for the end of ESB and the scen on Hoth.
