As mentioned by Jesse James on JD's front page, Slave1.jp has some images about the upcoming Hot Toys Chubby Figures. It appears they will be released in December.

Those are neat. If they had reversed the order of the dolls (ie. made Vader the large one and young Anakin the small one), I'd be much more tempted to grab a set.

These are kind of cute, but the Anakin one I do agree with you on Jesse and I'd have maybe caved and tried to track that one down had it been Vader first then down to little Ani... Otherwise these are just gonna be a pass for me, but they're still interesting nonetheless.
I liked Grievous where they looked at him in various forms of media, not just the character as he appeared in the film, and things. I thought that was unique.

Don't they remind anyone else of the burger king toys? Yeah I know they have the added feature of being stackable, but I look at the Vader and think BK. The ad is cool enough, for sure (thanks Simon) but I think I can pass on these. Might get the Vader set if anything, but no pressing need (he says now).

Received an e-mail from RoBBy.jp, release date is Dec 31/2006. 9601 Yen or about $81.65 US. The box of 12 will consist of Vader x 4, Obi x 2, C3PO x 2, Sith x 1, Greivous x 2 & Wookiee x 1. Size 9cm, 3.54 inches.

Holy, these look great! And the 30th Anniversary style packaging is surprising, but I like it.
Did anyone preorder any of these? I considered it, but Robby.jp was only selling them by the case.

Am I the only one that is puzzled to why they made a Grievous one? It's the only one that does not show the evolution of a character(s), albiet the sith one is kinda pushing it as well.

Thanks, Wax. I'll sure be looking into them as I got my Vader and Wooks today, and I'm thrilled with 'em! The quality is great. One of the neatest little SW novelties in a long time. I was only interested in Vader and the Wookiees, but they're so cool I might get a couple more. Maybe Threepio and the Sith....
BTW, do all the boxes feature Vader on the back, or did I get Wooks in the wrong package?

I'm fairly certain they all have the same packaging. I have the Anakin/Vader and the Obi-Wan sets and they both came in the Vader packaging.
Only thing I've noticed is that the paint on the larger figures gets damaged by the hood/helmet pieces. :-\

I won this as well....not sure what to do with it though as I didn't really enter it for myself. I guess I'll wait to see what it looks like and decide from there. Anyhow, it was nice to actually win a chance to buy something just hope I didn't screw myself over by winning now and not the five-pack in November. :-\
PS: Does anyone think these things are really random or is there a pattern? I've followed the threads at RS about this and I gotta admit, it's kind of weird the way the statistics stack up. I know that of all the entries GG gets, they all aren't posting at RS but still....it seems a bit strange the way these things are won (and Ohio sure looks like it is getting the shaft)!!

I agree. Now that I have him and got to fiddle around with it a bit, it IS a cool little toy. I like it. Best part is the hubby misunderstood me and thinks I "won" it. He thinks it is even a better toy because only 1000 were made and it was the first edition (he's so cute when he reads the boxes). :-*

Just picked up the Jumbo Vader on the bay for $38 shipped. Was actually more than I originally planned on spending, but I'm not going to complain knowing that some of you guys paid $60+ for yours. Can't wait to get this guy.

Got my Jumbo Vader in the mail yesterday. This is frickin' sweet! I was fully planning on displaying him out of the box when I bought it, but now I'm having second thoughts... The number on the box is 24/1000 and the box is really nice looking. Anyone have any advice they could lend?

Trust me, it's even better out of the box. You can take off his helmet and see his face, the detailing is pretty frickin' sweet. And if I remember right, you don't have to damage the box to open it, just a couple pieces of tape to undo.

I busted him out of the package this morning and now have him prominently displayed on a shelf at work. He fits in quite nicely with my other SW items (bust-ups, galactic heroes, BK toys, etc). This thing is awesome!

And, when I asked about the Jumbo Chubbies at Toy Fair, GG indicated that they were "trying" to secure the Series 2 Jumbo for US release (they didn't say who it was when I asked), but the deal wasn't final yet (as of Toy Fair). Stay tuned!
