You purchased the proof of purchase and they threw in the action figure gratis!   ;D

I also clearly remeber having to pay shipping and handling for my Boba Fett back in 1979.

No S&H mentioned. Someone scammed you, brother...I bet yours didn't even have a firing rocket!

bull****.  The first Boba Fell cost four proof of purchases from other figures plus shipping and handling.  Arguably the most expensive figure of the time!

You paid for proof of purchases?!? Those came free with my figures. I literally had a dozen of them laying around by the time the Boba Fett offer came up--my 2 brothers and I each got a free figure!

(And they didn't charge S&H in 1979!)

 ;D ;D ;D

You forget there's always a markup for Boba Fett.  Been that way since 1979.

Not so!

I got my first one for free. That's how they hooked ya back then! >:D

As far as the Shore troopers, I am happy for those who want them, and I applaud the timing to coincide with the Rogue One Anniversary. I do not need these for myself though. If the next reveal that pairs up with this set is a Mon Cal 4-pack of repainted Admiral Ackbars in salmon, aqua, and white skintone varieties--I would bite on that one!

Our Macy's was like that also. Still a lit of current Hasbro in the mix, I saw new Transformers and Spiderman stuff, but no Star Wars. The interesting thing I noticed on a trip last weekend was all the Toys r Us signage that was there when they set it up is now gone, replaced with some generic Christmas signs instead. I guess that partnership ended fast!

So there is a preorder tomorrow afternoon and we still don’t know what it is?

Don't worry, it will sell out so fast after the reveal it will be like it never happened!

After being disappointed with the value proposition of the Deluxe offerings from last week (excepting the Cannon set, which I found to be acceptable) this Boba Fett figure is the straw that broke the camel's back.

I love the look of the figure, the GI Joe joint structure fits this design perfectly (as compared to Lobot, for example, who looks horrible to me with all the joint cuts.)

I also applaud them for making a Boba Fett figure that will ship in its own solid cases as opposed to being the chase figure in an assortment.

But I'm not gonna pay double what was already a high buy-in to get this one. I'm not even interested in purchasing this Boba Fett at this point, and it might just have cured me from wanting to chase these modern figures at all.

Again I ask--if we've got a $27 TVC pricepoint how come we can't get a TVC Bluurg out at long last???

And this pre-order window thing is still so frustrating to me.  I went with buying 2x the e-web Stormtrooper set yesterday and skipped the Ahsoka set (already had her on preorder) or the Incinerator (have a couple already.) I wanted to wait and add the Mando and spiders set to get the free shipping, but I didn't want the e-web set to sell out first. So I bought 2 and called it a day.

A few hours later the full press pack of photos dropped and I realized the Ahsoka set was quite a bit of an upgrade...originally it looked like it only included one Saber based on the one photo available at order time. I attempted to switch my order to one Ahsoka and one e-web, but by then Aksoka was sold out.

So why even give us the full press photos if the product has sold out? Why entice me but have nothing left for me to buy?

 This system is broken.

I find it incredibly tone deaf that they created a Deluxe TVC line, er I mean "expression," focused on the Mandalorian, and didn't make it the venue to release a Bluurg.

I do want the cannon. I want them to figure out how to get a Speeder Bike and Scout in this expression. But what I REALLY want to see is a Darktrooper with charging station, a Ferry Droid with Boat, you know, something new that they can throw on a TVC card later.

Hasbro has readjusted the campaign and is adding Malakili to the base product! He comes with it if it funds now! (They will design him and show him off when it funds, but they obviously had no plans for this.)

My hat is off to them for jumping on the grenade!

I would be super excited to back a Ghost. My son used to use my BMF as the Ghost when he would play Rebels with the figures he had, to have one finally get produced would be a big deal in our house.

I would also back a Twilight in a second should it reappear and become relevant at some point.

For sure our first modern OT Y Wing would get me to bite.

It's a bit of a sea change at all that a one man fighter now qualifies as a Big Item, but I get it, things have dramatically changed.

I think a proper U Wing would be too big for me unless it was going to be the anchor of a Rogue One collection, which it would certainly could, I just don't want to commit to a Rogue One permanent display. This would be the kind of HasLab that would hang on its stretch goals and the whole package for me to bite.

The At M6 holds no interest for me...if they had done anything other than just stand in the distance, maybe...but there just isn't anything exciting about it for me, I would pass.

Currently 5,054 Backers.

I have to say they are all in love with the toy they produced, they seemed very proud of it in the livestream. And the Gammorean and rancor pictures were fun.

The Salacious reveal was very telling, they wanted to do that because they did the TVC version for SDCC years ago. They are either paying homage to themselves in some weird echo chamber, or have no idea what they are doing so they have to cheat off their neighbors' (or previous teams') test papers.

If Luke was going to be a stretch goal he should have been the first tier. It's not like he is going to be exclusive to this packaging. He'll be in Mandalorian packaging, he'll be in 40th ROTJ packaging, he'll be in Archive packaging someday.

Malakili should've been here. I finally realized what figure they could share his torso with--a Gammorean Gladiator from Mando! Too little, too late though...

And, as a cardboard conoisseur, I have to say that giant test print they showed for the backdrop was entirely too glossy to be of much use to action figure photographers. You can get away with the gloss on smaller pieces but stuff that big is just gonna be all reflected light. Boo.

Star Wars Anthology / Re: Rogue Squadron
« on: November 17, 2021, 05:47 AM »
Outside of "The Force Awakens", we have yet to see one of the films have the same director/writers for the entire project. Clearly there are systemic problems at Lucasfilm / Disney.

Michael Arndt was writing the script for TFA before Jj was hired as director. He left and the writing team became JJ and Kasdan. So even that one had turbulence.

I wanted to be excited about Rogue Squadron, but the name kept prompting images of OT adventures even though they said it was set after Episode 9. I have a feeling I would have ultimately been disappointed by the story.

I agree with the Muftak competition issue as well. Cardboard Galaxy is a fun Instagram follow! It would be extremely petty for Hasbro/Disney to start cutting into his business.

I have no worries about them trying to really do cardboard stuff--the market is too small and they usually screw it up somehow. Like, the Emperor's Throne room fold-out box they did really should have had legs on the sides...mine collapsed under its own weight after 12 hours on display. Also, see their Solo Playsets. (I saw a bunch of Kessel Mines playsets at Ollie's the other day. I might buy some more to convert into !new! Mandalorian Covert Playsets like I did last year converting it  into an Echo Base playset...)

Yesterday was a sobering day to read comments though. There are a lot of folk out there who really really hate cardboard.

They have got to do a Malkili figure as a stretch goal, it will be a poor seller at retail but would also be horribly missing from the line if the Rancor gets funded. Figure out a way to reuse the torso on an alien figure or somebody large who wears a coat or something, but get the Rancor Keeper in the Rancor box. Oola is not as big a deal, she would sell on the pegs and from the looks of the Boba Fett trailer, those parts will be reusable soon enough.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Everything eBay! Scams, questions, etc...

It sounds legit to me.

I know my situation on eBay is slightly different because I am producing unique items to sell there, but every purchase and expenditure that goes towards those sales are the difference between my gross sales and net sales, so you had better believe they get deducted from the 1099 sales total. This includes the obvious stuff like materials, shipping and printing charges, but also eBay and PayPal fees themselves, and even Star Wars toy purchases (since they are used in the advertisement side of the business they become a write-off too.)
