Playmates doesn't have any photos available of any of the new stuff yet (according to the person I talked to), but with any luck we'll see something at Toy Fair.  Of course I said that last year about the Star Trek movie line (they announced it right before Toy Fair) and they didn't have anything.  :|

My hopes are that the 6" figures are in the realm of Marvel Legends, DCU, Batman Movie Masters, etc as far as articulation and detail goes.

Somewhat related...Playmates will be producing a commemorative line to celebrate the 25th anniversary of TMNT.

http://www.toytraderz.com/News/article/sid=2027.html

On the retro front, Playmates is re-introducing the original awesome 1987 action figure line, twelve figures in all, including the four Turtles, Splinter, Shredder and more. These figures will feature a “tubular” nostalgic 25th anniversary package design with a random assortment of classic TV episodes from the inaugural season.

Looks like they're hitting here again.  Since saying I'd only seen that single Robin I've seen them three times - twice I saw a couple of GLs and Sinestros, and today I found the whole wave.  I have heard of other wave 4 sightings in KC as well.

The Bullpen / Marvel Universe Ares Wave (Wal-Mart)
« on: October 7, 2008, 04:15 PM »
Found the Ares wave (most of it) at a KC Wal Mart.  They were only $10.44....freakin' sweet.  :)  No Crossbones, Guardian or Vision but I did get the rest including the Human Torch variant.  Good looking wave, though I was most looking forward to Vision.

Now why would I know he was talking about DC?  It's not like he said "wave 4", not like he said he found Ares himself, not like he mentioned it in a DC thread.  Sheesh, you expect me to actually pay attention to what people are saying?

:-[ ;D :-[

Guess I just have Marvel on the brain at the moment.  Sorry folks.

Found part of wave 4 (Ares) at a Target in Kansas City on the weekend.

I just caught this...you found them at Target?  I had always thought they were Wal Mart exclusives, and the ones I found at Wal Mart today had exclusive stickers on them.

BTW, they were only $10.44.  Freakin' sweet.  :)  No Crossbones, Guardian or Vision but I did get the rest including the Human Torch variant.

I know this is an old thread but I wanted to throw out a thanks to Dale.  This site works great for me and doesn't cost a damn thing.  ;D

Well of the Souls / Re: Indy 5-New Figures?

37 views and only one response?  No wonder this line tanked!

My first thought was "dear god, let the movies die already."  :)  I'm sure I'm not the only one.

If there is an Indy 5 - and for the record I hope there's not despite the fact that I moderately enjoyed Indy 4 - I'm sure Hasbro will have learned the lesson and cut back on production.  I think anticipation for #4 was so high they thought the line was fly off the shelves as Star Wars once did.  But at $7-8 a figure even Star Wars isn't flying off the shelves, and this was bound to have a much lighter fan base (with a shorter span of interest as well).

You should have looked me up while you were here.  I could have given you that Red Hulk piece.   ;D

Do you remember which Target you found it at?

And on the subject, the only wave 2 and 3 figures I've seen here were the two wave 2 Superman figures (when the wave first hit) and a Robin from wave 3.  Distribution here has all but died.

That sucks, Dale.  I've had no luck with GG customer service or *any* point of contact in the past, so I'm not surprised.  Hopefully it all works out for you.

My hiatus from collecting didn't last long...I bought the Red Hulk wave over the last couple of days.  :)  When I decided to *cough* quit *cough* I had reservations about quitting Marvel stuff.  It's actually more fun than I've had over the last couple of years with the likes of Star Wars and other long-time interests and regretted that part of it right away.  So I bought this wave as an inauguration back into it.

Anyway, the figures are pretty nice looking but I had quite a few paint issues with mine.  Mostly little smudges and a few small color spots where they shouldn't be.  Anyone else noticing this?

If anyone wants my extra Wolverine BAF piece, drop me a PM and it's yours.  (EDIT:  It's now spoken for.)

And if anyone's interested, I've put up a gallery on ToyTraderz.

I've had a chance to give Death Magnetic a few whirls.  A lot more good than bad, which is not something I've been able to say about Metallica since 1991.  It had the feel of old Metallica but with an updated flavor - they effectively pulled off an old sound without it sounding dated.  There were a few areas that sound as though they could have been on Load or Reload but overall I say it sounds like the whole album could have been from the Justice era.  It's nice to hear some thrashy Metallica music once again and even more so it's good to hear Kirk Hammett again.  :)  He sounds as good as ever and he's definitely a big piece of what Metallica is.  My only real complaint is that some bits seemed kind of forced, like they were trying too hard to recapture the Puppets/Justice sounds.  I was also a bit disappointed that they didn't use more odd time signatures, which I kind of expected after realizing they were going back to the old sound.  There were a few, just not as many as I'd initially hoped.  Minor complaints though and overall I'm really impressed.

Hopefully I'll get a chance to see them with Down next month.

I was always planning on Rock Band, but now that I've seen Tool and Mars Volta on Guitar Hero there's little question that I'll be giving Activistion my money.  Some good other tunes in there as well.
