Title: Star Wars on Blu-ray Commemorative 4-Packs
Post by: Jeff on February 17, 2011, 11:14 AM
Star Wars on Blu-ray Commemorative Figure 4-Packs with mini movie poster.

Yes, they are all repacks.  Yes, continuing the theme of duplication that Hasbro has going on, many of them are figures that are either currently shipping or were available in the last year. :P

Anyway, if you buy all six you can line them up and get what you see in te top right of this first pic...

Anyone out there looking forward to these for some reason?

Well, if you're looking for a decent Luke and Obi Wan to go along with your newly acquired Saga Falcon, that ANH set is pretty nice.

Actually, all of those OT sets look really good.

Actually the tan battle droid might be "new" in that the Geonosis Arena 2-pack version hasn't been issued in khaki yet.

Some folks are thinking Maul might have ball jointed elbows. I can't tell.

Yeah, mostly uninspired, main character choices. I know these sets are not for collectors but...

Really, Sandtrooper for ANH? Really? REALLY? If I had to sum up ANH  in 4 characters. Is sandtrooper one of them? No.

That now-outdated Bly for ROTS? Why him anyway? Screen time of less than a minute.

The  dirty evolutions Clone from AOTC?

Hoth Leia second repack this year, after the Target 3-pack. Hey, if you were gonna milk it that much, you could've given her ankle joints.

And of course, the Vader who can't hold a saber in his right hand.

I find the ROTS set most annoying since 3 out of the 4 figures JUST came out in the Vintage line.

Wonder how much these are going to run?

I will say, at least they picked some pretty nice figures for the most part.  Sure, many are available elsewhere, but there are some in there that are pretty good figures.  All repacks of course, so I'll likely pass, but the little "complete set" picture thing is kind of neat.

I have to say the ANH set is tempting.  Sandtroopers are generally useful, I'd not mind another of that Luke and Obi-Wan, and R2's R2, depending which mold they ultimately use.  If it's the R4-G9 though, how can you not like seeing that again?

It's weird but I too could be tempted on any of these sets depending on price and which figure versions they ultimately use of the characters packed into the sets.  Only the ROTJ set looks kinda blah.

I may buy all of the OT versions and the TPM for certain figures.

I'm definitely caving in for the TPM set, for that khaki-colored Battle Droid and the Maul (STILL don't have that Evolutions Maul). I already have Qui-Gon and Obi.

I'm considering the ANH set for Luke and Obi. Don't really need another R2, but I do need a "definite" version of him. I could really care less about the Sandtrooper.

About ot blue ray packs

anh: resurgence battle pack would be preferable, cause it comes with more accesories

esb: I only need Leia, will buy the figure from tvc line.

rotj: have Vader, idem, prefer to buy them separately.

Again, glad there's nothing new in them. Glad to pass 'em over.

I might get the ROTJ set for the Han and Scout....plus another Jedi Luke wouldn't be too bad.  I might finally update my Endor shelf and make it a battle like the other shelves.

Of course I'll have to track down an Endor Leia.   :-\

Packaged and Loose Pics up at Sandtroopers.com (http://www.sandtroopers.com/sandwatch/hasbro/20110512/)

No surprises.

Yes, the battle droid looks like the current one. But I really doubt this will be only way to get that droid in tan.

thanks for the link.  what is the word on Maul?  looks like potential BJ hips to me - assuming this because of the soft goods in the skirt.  elbows look to still be swivel.

I hope he isn't new - because I dont need the set.  That is unless of course Obi and Qui Gonn all have BJ hips too!   :P

The Evolutions Darth Maul  (http://www.jedidefender.com/gallery/imageFolio.cgi?action=view&link=Collectibles/Modern/Revenge_of_the_Sith/Evolutions/Sith_Lords&image=evo_sith_3.jpg&img=&tt=) had soft goods skirt, and no ball hips. Good bet it's the same figure.

Yes, Hasbro said at Toy Fair that all of the figures in these sets would be existing sculpts. Nothing new.

I really like the packaging on these sets, I just may try and pick them up.  They're not supposed to be an exclusive, are they?

For some reason I thought they were WM exclusives Jesse, but I can't recall.  Check the Toy Fair slides on the front page, and they probably say.  I'm betting WM though with these.

I just took a look at the slides and there's no indication of exclusivity on them, that doesn't mean it wasn't said during the presentation though...

The previous DVD sets were all WM exclusives (if memory isn't failing me), so it certainly makes sense.

Jesse,

According to EE, it would seem these aren't WM exclusives afterall, but an assortment probably going to everyone.

If the set of them are around $156, that makes them around $26 each, right? I definitely want to get a few of these, I just hope Hasbro doesn't go overboard on them with the prices.

It is probably just because the OT is generally popular than the PT, but I noticed that BBTS has the OT sets priced $5 higher than the PT sets.

If these arent an exclusive I bet they get over shipped to POP displays all over, and are clearenced mightily by teh next season. So if you want these I bet waiting on clearence would be gravy

These are out. I saw all 6 today at a Target. $24.99 each. They don't seem that bad in person, just that they used the older molds for clones and the sandtrooper, which weren't bad molds.

Battle Droid is the Arena 2-pack mold but with the officer antenna, not the backpack.  ::)

Dooku is the Arena 2-pack version...I think.

Han in trenchcoat uses the Endor battle pack head.

Not sure which Vader it is, Evolutions mold...but not sure which removable helmet style it is.

Getting another Han with that headsculpt may be worth it.

I haven't seen these yet but they've been found everywhere but TRU at this stage it seems.

Do Anakin and Dooku have the new headsculpts from the 2010 Target Geonosis sets? I can't tell for sure but if so I might have to pick that set up.

Saw these at a Target today. $24.99 each, and they had only 1 of each set. I took some pics which I'll upload shortly...

Dooku, I'm almost positive does. Not sure about Anakin.

And I just took this shot to answer my own question from a few days ago. Dooku is indeed using the new headsculpt from the Geonosis Arena sets. Anakin is a repack of the 05 Evolutions set. The Clone has THREE different shades of white. The body/legs, arms and helmet are each a different shade of white. Kind of hard to tell from the crappy cell phone pics.

Sure looks to me like Dooku and Ani are both the Target figures...  Must've been the same factory and they just said, "crank us out a cuople more of these guys" or something. :)

Dooku is, Anakin is not.

Anakin is the Evolutions head-sculpt version.

I grabbed a set of these tonight as well and just compared the one in the new set with my opened Geonosis Arena Anakin.

I keep getting very tempted to nab a couple of these but I can't pull the trigger.  Cool extras to have, but I just can't do it.

I got the ROTJ set, in hopes of using the Han and Scout Trooper on my Endor shelf.  I've instead decided to "customize" the Han by removing the trenchcoat and vest and add him to my Carbon Freeze Bespin set-up.

I keep seeing these and just can't pull the trigger...  It's the rest of the line's jacked up pricing that keeps me from buying stuff like this now.  I really want some of them, just for the extra figures to have since there are some nice versions in these sets...  I just can't bite the bullet and get them, haha.

$8 and $9 basic figures have killed any interest I had in this kind of stuff.
