He even verified that the AT-TE will be coming next year, late fall, just in time for Christmas. According to him, this is going to be a huge piece, larger than the AT-AT and will be priced above $100, no set price yet.
-
Thats pretty cool for all of you who wanted one. I wont want to buy it but i am sure it will have awesome pack-ins to chase down. :-\
-
Count the Wookiee in. Best news since... since... anything Star Wars toy related in the modern era.
-
I'm sure it will happen but I'm waiting for an official confirmation.
-
Although I do want a toy based on the AT-TE I don't think i can justify more then $100 on it, it better come with some troopers or something to come close to changing my mind.
-
Put me down for one!
-
Y.E.S.
:D
And I'm encouraged about the scale being "bigger than the AT-AT" because our clones have a good shot of not looking silly next to the vehicle like they do next to the AT-AT.
-
Hopefully Hasbro will go the full nine and sculpt everything in proportion. Not like the AT-AT which has the over exaggerated head and short legs.
Imagine an AT-TE the size of those Power Wheels things the kids drive around ;D
-
Nah, that would be a correct size AT-AT. :o
I'm hoping they choose AOTC clones over ROTS for the pack-in. Hopefully will the cannon will be big like all of the ships that aren't supposed to have big-ass cannons. :P
x 2 Evolutions Clone Pilot (Yellow Re-pack)
x 2 Clone Trooper (SA re-pack)
x 1 Clone Captain (SA re-pack)

I don'y want any money spent on pack ins...5 figures in this thing would boost the price 25 dollars, and the vehicle would only be 75.00 worth of plastic. I want 100.00 worth of plastic spent on the vehicle. I've ALREADY got some clones! =)
-
I'll say that, for $100 and the boasting of a "larger than the AT-AT" tag, I expect a lot... Waiting for confirmation because, well, we pretty much were expecting an AT-TE to come out next year weren't we? So I'm not shocked at the news at all... I just am a little surprised at the price and boasting about size and all. Larger than the AT-AT could very well put it to-scale though, depending on how you define "larger than the AT-AT" though. :-\

Yep, I see this just like you do. For a hundred or more clams, I want to shell it out on the actual vehicle. Or whatever price it is, I want it to go towards the vehicle itself. I wouldn't be surprised to see a couple clones with it, but I don't need 4 or 5 figures packed in. Though I am sure that would be a selling point to some folks.
-
This is probably one of the more credible reports I've seen on this vehicle. If Derryl DePriest is saying this, it's got some merit. And in the past Hasbro has talked about the fact that they've mocked up the AT-TE. I'm definitely looking forward to this vehicle.
-
I'm not surprised by the news, but the price tag is higher than I thought it would be. I wonder how big this thing is going to be. It doesn't make sense for the AT-TE to be an exclusive, right? I'd figure Hasbro would want to sell as many as they could and anywhere they could.
-
Sounds like it should be awesome, and I'm glad it's coming out.
But I probably won't get it just for the simple fact that I can't stomach waltzing into TRU and dropping $100+ that fast. Like any collector worth his Freeze Frames I can rationalize spending that same amount on 15 basic figures ... but it's spread out over weeks/months instead of blowing a C-note on a single purchase and therefore doesn't seem as painful. Kind of the "boiling the frog by dialing up the heat gradually" approach.
-

It's probably going to be a mass retail offering. The tooling on something new and this large has got to be so costly that they'll want as many outlets offering the AT-TE as possible.
But looking forward to the actual piece, I'm wondering if this AT-TE is going to have any troop carrying capacity. The vehicle was designed as a troop carrier, and also has internal stations for some gunners. I'm curious what we'll actually get.
-
This is definitely good news, if it turns out to be true. I think a lot of us thought we'd likely be seeing some version of the AT-TE alongside the Clone Wars line, but it sounds like it could be a decent sized vehicle. I'd really like to get one, depending on what it looks like/costs, but if it is around $100 - its going to probably depend on how much else is out there at the time. Like this year, I think the majority of the releases/purchases/exclusives are in the last 2-3 months of the year. With Christmas shopping, it makes it a little more difficult. Glad to hear it is likely on the way though, and it would be fun to see a larger vehicle at all retail outlets again - instead of the exclusive route.
-
I sincerely hope this works out for everyone. Not only is it great that this is coming, but I'll be relieved to stop hearing (in my best Fat Tony) "where is AT-TE? When am I going to get the AT-TE? Why isn't the AT-TE in my hands right now, an so on and so forth."
-
I suppose this could be a mass retail offering, but I don't remember Walmart carrying too many big items... did they ever carry the POTF2 AT-AT? Not to my knowledge, but they may have. I do remember seeing the EPI Royal Starship at Walmart before, which was a surprise.
Anyways, I'd be more likely to think that this will be an exclusive, and to a place like TRU that seems to be more willing to carry the larger items. Or maybe Target. Or both?
-

. . .I don't remember Walmart carrying too many big items... did they ever carry the POTF2 AT-AT? Not to my knowledge, but they may have.
They did. That's where I bought mine.
-
The only ones I ever saw were at TRU and a smaller retailer called Service Merchandise, which eventually went out of business.
I remember after the POTF2 AT-AT's sold out, about a year later the TRU stores in my area all got another shipment or two of them in and put them on clearance for just $20.00... why I only picked up one is beyond me. Guess because I was in college and barely scraping by at the time.

The only place where I question this is that the person making the report from Sandtroopers did not elaborate more. No direct quotes, etc. I know who the writer is somewhat, but I know him only as a forum user and not a news guy that's covered previous events. He doesn't have a reporting track record that you can look back upon.
And this was thrown into a con report basically like an afterthought. A credible news report from Star Wars Fan Days would have generated a report specific to Hasbro. And news like this? It's cause for it's own article.
In the past Derryl DePriest has said that if the AT-TE plays a prominent role in this or that, we may see it in the line. He made comments to that effect at Celebration 4 when the Clone Wars trailer was shown, and the AT-TE was prominently featured.
What I would like to see about this topic from a news standpoint? Independent confirmation. I would accept that in the form of a question being asked and answered in the Hasbro Q&A process. At least in that case we're getting a direct quote since it's Derryl that responds to the questions.
And just a tangentially related question here: where were the Texas based JD guys on this show? It was reported a while ago that Hasbro would be at this show. I would think that's cause enough to send someone to cover the event if you've got personnel in the area. And while RS was there and provided some images from Hasbro, where's the reporting?

Didn't you hear? The Texas-based JD contingent did go to the show. Or, tried to, anyway. Little did they know that Philip Wise himself had already given the 501st explicit instructions to, quote, "be on the look-out for anyone from JediDefender.com," and forcibly remove them from the premises, on sight.
And that's what they did.
-
I was there, but I did not know that Hasbro would have a presence there (they never have before) so I didn't see Darryl to bug him and I wasn't looking for him, and I didn't bring my camera to grab pictures of the toys.
I'll take it with me from here on out just in case it becomes a normal thing.
-
Well forgive me for being a little pessimistic, but I must play devils advocate here for a moment.
First, since this was NOT in an official Q&A that I can tell, we can't really take the guy at Sandtrooper for his word, yet.
Also, wow what a HIGH price. Now that being said, this AT-TE BETTER be to scale, have room for clones in the cockpit, and middle sections at least and hopefully room for two gunners each in the fore and aft sections as well, plus the seat for the cannon on top. I highly doubt electronics will be included, but that would be a nice addition to the set.
I'm a little disappointed at the price as I really wanted at least 3 or these and since I'm cutting my SW budget in half for next year, this is seriously going to dip into it.
I'll get one for sure, but multiple purchases for this vehicle are doubtful.
I'm very curious where this will be sold at. My initial guess is TRU. They might be sitting on AT-ATs right now, but they'll make room for the AT-TE. However, I would rather have it be a Target exclusive. Since they are known to slash prices, it would be my hopes that after a month or so, this would go on sale, making it affordable for multiple purchases.
Now getting back to the good part of this. If this is indeed true, then I am happy it is being made and with that price it at least appears that scale will not be the issue. Hasbro has long promised us an AT-TE, so again if this turns out to be true, then at long last they will have made good on that promise.
Right now I'm tentative on my thoughts with this. I want to see proof not leads...
Again forgive me the skeptical viewpoints, but without an official proclamation by Hasbro, I can't yet be 100% satisfied that this is going to be made. (and to our liking)

I dont buy the vechiles, but it great to see so many of you get excited about the AT-TE.

I'll play it conservative this time and say two.

Man. Three already, and there are several sites that haven't even put up their Q & A's yet! I knew the internet wouldn't let us down.

There was a report from Star Wars Fan Days in Texas that an AT-TE vehicle will be coming out in late 2008. Will this be part of the Clone Wars line? Will it be a main line offering shipping to mass retail? And can you give us some initial details about the vehicle itself (size, features, pack-ins, etc)? (JTA, 11/09/07) (http://jeditemplearchives.com/content/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=3548)
We have not officially confirmed (despite reports from the Dallas show) that there will be at AT-TE in the line. We merely said that if we did it, it would have to be pretty big. Folks are reading between the lines at what we have said earlier, and that's fine, but it's a big vehicle to tackle and it's not 100% certain yet that we will be able to deliver. So....until we have officially confiirmed, which we hope will be Toy Fair time, it's still a wish list item. There are so many uncertainties with cost, etc. that we would also have to see what is left for a budget to see if a new driver could make it in or whether we would look to do a driver in a different pack.
Rebelscum. . .
News of an AT-TE release next year spread like... well it spread really fast. Can you elaborate on this? Most of us have taken this information as gospel and already thanked the Almighty, but some are hesistant to get their hopes up. Any chance of an official announcement in the immediate future? Will this be a wide release or exclusive? We've heard it's big, that's outstanding news, but how big? How 'bout some rough measurements/dimensions to whet our appetites? How 'bout electronics, yay or nay? How much over $100 should we expect to pay? I suppose it's too early to expect any photos, but I'd be remiss not to request some. Also, what pack-ins are you considering?
We're hungry for info about this, and especially with regards to size and price, it'd be great to know as much as possible as soon as possible so we can budget for it, the kiddies can start saving, and those of us with space constraints can prepare to accomodate this.
Last little question, how well would this have to sell to convince you to crank out a Juggernaut Clone Turbo Tank or an MTT, or some other large vehicle in the years to come? (RS, 11/09/07) (http://www.rebelscum.com/story/front/Hasbros_43rd_STAR_WARS_QA_The_Answers_110036.asp)

Will the AT-TE come with some new type of clone driver? (ST, 11/09/07) (http://www.sandtroopers.com/smf/index.php?topic=5183.msg154073#msg154073)

Nice job, 'Poops.
Hopefully a couple of the other sites will come through, to hopefully shed some more light on this developing situation. Stay tuned; we'll keep you informed.

What will your perspective be if this thing is officially announced as coming out next year? Do you want to see it in the 2008 mix?
-
What will your perspective be if this thing is officially announced as coming out next year? Do you want to see it in the 2008 mix?
For myself, personally, I really don't care if it comes out or not. My overall enthusiasm for Star Wars (especially with anything prequel) has considerably diminished over the last couple of years, and I probably wouldn't buy one anyway.
But, for the hobby, and for the people that have really been wanting one, yeah, I think it would be absolutely fantastic if it comes out next year. If it comes out any year. I do think Hasbro's a bit damned-if-they-do, damned-if-they-don't, with it, though. They don't make it, people bitch that they should make it. They do make it, those same people bitch that it's too small/too expensive/too available/too limited/too exclusive/not the right deco/crappy pack-in/no electronics/too much electronics/what have you. You know what they say: "You can't please everybody, all the time--especially if those people are Star Wars collector nerds."
I know what you think, Chew': You think that because I bitch about other people bitching about the AT-TE, or other vehicles, or playsets, or whatever, that must mean that I'm against the AT-TE, or other vehicles, or playsets, or whatever. And that isn't the case at all. I want all those things to happen. I want people to get what they want. I want them to be happy with what they get. I want you to be able to get your $200 Random Death Star Hallway Playset, if that's what you want.
So no, I want all those things to happen. Believe me, I do. It's the bitching I could do without. Bitching for Hasbro to make something. Bitching at Hasbro after they make it because it's not absolutely perfect. Bitching at Hasbro like they don't know how to run their own business. Bitching at Hasbro like they're somehow "out to get" collectors. Bitching that Hasbro somehow "owes" them something.
All that bitching has gotten to be really ******* tiresome over the last few years, and that's what I have a problem with.
So I bitch.
-
I'll just not buy it if it's so far out of scale it's noticeable... There's no exact dimension on it, so it's one of those things I feel has some wiggle room, but I'm just a scale Nazi so I'll be picky I'm afraid...
Bitching? So be it... But at least I won't buy it as my complaint. Vehicles I've found are easy things to pass on when I'm not content.
-
I'm a sucker when it comes to vehicles...always have been since the 80's mainly with Joes/Cobra, but I'd welcome this addition. I'm a bit dissapointed that Hasbro is still "tight lipped" about this...It's a freakin toy - who cares - spill the beans already. There's obiously going to be renewed focus on the CW line next year.
-

This is a case where I really wish I was not right. Hasbro totally backed off from the Sandtroopers report about the AT-TE in this Q&A session. In this case I think they're trying to be non-commital so that they don't raise expectations too high.
-
As with everything, it ain't official 'till it's official, so we shouldn't be surprised by Hasbro's noncommittal reply.
-

Agreed.
I think there is just enough in their answer though that says it's a distinct possibility for late 2008. I won't get my hopes up, but I'll be DAMN happy if it happens.
For the record, I don't care if it has electronics. I don't need a pack-in. I'm hoping the size is at least as long as the AT-AT (from head to tail) and half as high as the AT-AT. Poseable leg joints-knees and ankles. Working ball joint turrets (four in the front, two in the back) Room for two drivers in the cockpit (even if they have to stand as that can be hidden to a point with an instrumentation panel). flip-up sides similar to the upcoming AT-AP-which makes room for a clone on the port and starboard sides of both the fore and aft sections of the AT-TE. Since the middle part will have to have interior assemblage for the dorsal canon, I don't see it a "need" to have this section flip up-even though it would be cool as this is the area where it would be a trooper carrier, but again not neccessary.
So that means the AT-TE would hold a total of 7 clones. That's a very fair amount, IMO.
Since the legs can be done from two sets of molds (the front and back as one set of molds and the middle larger legs as another), that lessens costs, in very much the same way as it did for the AT-AT. So that just leaves the body as the complex part.
I REALLY think this can be sold for no more than $100. No electronics or pack-in figures will help keep that cost down. While it would be nice, is it REALLY neccessary? We've got so many clones right now that he AT-TE really doesn't need a special figure to entice people to buy it. If it doesn't sell based on it's own merits and for what it is, a figure isn't goign to be enough to get people to drop a Benjamin on it.
So while I said at the beginning of my post that I won't hold my breath, I will say that I'm cautiously optimistic.

Looks like we can put a "confirmed" on this... :) Check the front page here at JD for the info.
-
Does that mean it's a Target exclusive? :'(
-
No word there Rune, however somethign listed in Target's computer obviously doesn't dictate its exclusivity one way or another. The vehicle is too large to be part of an "assortment". Often times a battlepack for instance will show up as just a lone pack, and not "battlepack asst.", and when that happens then usually it is an exclusive... A good example would be "Ambush on Illum" as I believe it showed up as some abbreviated version of that name, and not "asst." at the end.
With the AT-TE, we will know I guess when we see more about it. Toy Fair perhaps?
Something that big, and for a huge multi-media event like CW, I'm guessing it's general release... This is just Target's numerical logging of it in their computer system is all.
Hope that was helpful. :)
-
That's awesome news Jesse, and save money now is right. For $100, this thing's got to be big. I'm looking forward to see how the vehicle turns out.
-
I too, am curious how it'll turn out... I can already hear the begging from my girlfrend's son for one for X-Mas next year, heh. :)
The At-TE actually isn't a massive vehicle, but the rumors before said "larger than the AT-AT" which could be a fair size... It could actually technically come in at to-scale though, so I'm sorta curious what Hasbro's gonna go for with it.
Either way, if it's underscaled I won't buy it, but I'll still admire it being made... It's bound to be one of the bigger toys on the shelves next holiday I'm thinking. Yikes! :) How long has that been for the Star Wars line eh?
-
Damn looks like I'm gonna have to save if I want two.
-
Well, even though I plan on cutting my SW budget in half, I did plan for this. I want one for sure no matter the size. If it's done "right" in my eyes, then I'll look to get a total of three of them.
-
Well this just made my day. Pretty safe to say that we all figured it was coming out sooner or later in some form, so it's nice to finally see at least some "evidence" that this sucker is on its way.
-
Congrats to you guys who want one. I am just hoping it doesnt have any cool pack-in figures because i dont want to get one.
-
Target? I'll just wait 'till it hits clearance. ;)
-
I just hope its not a Target exclusive, because if it is wel that will just suck for me. :-\
-
Awesome! It's about time. Yeah, it definately looks like they will wait for the cartoon to launch it. I am almost certain they will throw in some clonetroopers with it. Probably from the cartoon as well. Well we shall see. It definately is looking better for the AT-TE!
-
This is certainly good (expensive) news. At $100 this will have to be gigantic. It will probably end up being as much a playset as a vehicle, kind of like the Royal Starship from TPM.
-
I can definately see Hasbro making one of these. They alread made a simular vehicle for gi joe back in '88. It shouldn't be too hard to customize this vehicle into an AT-TE. This sucker was 3 feet long and opened up.
-
Happy happy joy joy!!! ;D
By then I will be in a situation which will permit me to afford a few of those! Whahooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!
-
I'm worried to say this since eveyone seems to be so excited but aren't there a lot of other "large" vehicles they could make for $100 that would be better than an ATTE? Give me something OTC!!
-
I suppose this will be out in the 4th Quarter, when I really can't afford one. I'll see what happens, but I'd sure like to get one. :)
-

name one? the AT-AT has already been done, and i am certainly not gonna pay $100 for a under sized Tantive lV
-
aren't there a lot of other "large" vehicles they could make for $100 that would be better than an ATTE?
Not when 2008's going to center around a big 3-D Cartoon called Clone Wars that features this vehicle prominently in it. ;)
Not to say I wouldn't like to see a new AT-AT, but really when you get into "big" OT vehicles, I think most are fairly boring beyond the AT-AT... The Tantive IV is dull and more suited to a playset type idea than a vehicle. The Sandcrawler sort of falls under the same category...
Jabba's Barge comes to mind though, as it's a good action sequence... But that's about it.
2008's CW though, and this is something I think people will want. I just also think that, if it's at every retailer, you will see them sit. For $100, that's asking a lot of people, and I don't find that collectors put their $$$ up despite their claims. The AT-AT's have moved quite well here though so you never know.
-

I'll be putting up my $$$$$ five times.
I love me some AT-TE.
-
I think I just need to stay out of this conversation from here on because I like the OTC stuff much more than the Prequel stuff and I'm always going to be biased.
-
Very encouraging news! The $100 price tag is high, but for something like this I think it's to be expected. I wonder just how big it's going to be, and what kind of features we can expect.
As for OT large vehicles? A Tantive IV would be too small to have any kind of diorama that people really want to stage. The Rebel Transport is kind of boring. Jabba's Sail Barge is probably the only really interesting thing that could be made with *SOME* level of accuracy and have some play value. Other than a completely redesigned Millenium Falcon, that is.
-
AT-TE - Check.
Sideshow Playsets - Next Please.

And this is my personal favorite. The Sandpoopers don't even bother asking for any details or further confirmation on the AT-TE itself--they just jump right to what type of pack-ins it will have. Awesome.
Will the AT-TE come with some new type of clone driver? (ST, 11/09/07) (http://www.sandtroopers.com/smf/index.php?topic=5183.msg154073#msg154073)
Nice job, 'Poops.
Hopefully a couple of the other sites will come through, to hopefully shed some more light on this developing situation. Stay tuned; we'll keep you informed.
Maybe now Hasbro can answer the question.

Here, I'll answer it for them:
No comment at this time. Check back at Toy Fair.

If there was a pack-in, they'd probably slap in 1 or 2 ROTS AT-TE Tank Gunners and call it a day.
-

That's what I'm expecting.
However they may do a slight retool of it to make it a "commander" gunner. Either a repaint or different shoulder armor. Just something very small to distinguish it enough from the other gunners.
And if they do, I can hear the complaining already...
Well, if I buy three of these and it does come with a special figure, I may trade two of them. have to wait and see I guess.

I agreed that hasbro would answer it that way. I think a better ? would be-- If an at-te would be made and it would be around $100 would it have electronics and/or pack in figures?

That's pretty optimistic. They like to hold stuff for Comic-Con too.
-
If it IS a Target exclusive, then they'll probably be hush hush about it. If it's a general release item, they may be a little more forthcoming since word is out. I'm sure they'll say "Details at Toy Fair, you all will be pleasantly surprised.".....and then, we won't. :'(
My guess on the size and "play" features.
It'll measure around 22" long and be about 8" wide, not counting the legs of course. There will be a canopy that lifts and holds 1 Driver (included). The body will be hinged just above each rear leg and clip in the middle on the top. There will be room to sit 3 Clones on each "bench" on either side. The guns on either side of the cockpit and chin guns will "ball rotate". The main cannon on top will rotate 360, and fire a projectile. There will be a seat that holds the AT-TE Tank Gunner figure (also included). The legs will be articulated at the "hip" and "knee" joints. There will be 2 more "ball rotating" guns on the rear. No sound effects, and the driver will look like the gunner without the pauldron, and have a farout paint scheme we'll most likely hope they rerelease as a "Legends" figure because it's so GD cool.
That's just my guess though....
-
Count me in for two!
Time to start making some room!
-
I'm happy for you guys, and there will be one more available in Louisiana stores ;D. Yes, the bitter old purist in me speculates on what OT resculpts could have been done with all that plastic, LOL. But if it sells well, it's good for the line as a whole.
-
Pack ins... not something I'm too concerned about. Sure, a nice figure would be welcome, but I'm just happy this beast is coming.
-
I suppose this will be out in the 4th Quarter, when I really can't afford one.
Since it has a DCPI # already, I'm sure it'll be out way sooner than that.
-
The Imperial Shuttle DPCI turned up about 6 1/2 months before the Shuttle actually came out. The number was spotted around mid-May (the 14th actually, when I reported it to RS) So, if that's roughly the same time frame for this, we may see it by mid-June or early July.
-
I just read the 411 spot on RS, and AT-TE is going to fit no less than 20 clone troopers. Very cool.
Star Wars AT-TE
This bad boy is going to be big. Packaged for the Clone Wars Series, Collectors can expect to see a vehicle with lights and sounds that can fit no less than 20 clone troopers!
-
Glad my guess was wrong :o
-
I think Hasbro's starting to realize that there's much more demand for larger items than their 1999 Episode One research told them.
-
I saw this news over the weekend here, and its great to hear further confirmation on this one. I'd really like to get one, but with all the stuff mentioned on the 411s, I'll just have to see if I can afford it. Like others, it depends on when it hits as well. RS's 411 mentions a retooled Falcon as well, and I know I'll want one of those, so hopefully these two won't be too close together in releases. And I thought I was going to cut back next year ::)

20 clones, now that's what I'm talkin' about.
How would people feel if it came with removable seats for the troops to give two staging options?
-

Nah, if the report is true about holding 20 clones AND having lights and sounds, then I"m good with that.
So long as it's a reasonably close scale size (and how can it NOT be if it can hold 20 clones), then at this point, if the report is true, I've got NOTHING to complain about.
The price is RIGHT compared to what's been reported about what we are getting.
So this is the time to put up or shut up regarding we collectors.
Please for everyone of you who wants one, get it at retail! Full price! Otherwise we're not going to see large vehicles again and the chance of playsets will go down the toilet with it as well.
Now if you want multiples of the AT-TE, I can understand waiting to purchase a second or third one, but PLEASE get your first one at full price.

-
I don't think its fair to say us collectors need to put up or shut up in this case. I agree if hasbro sold these out at $100 each we would see other large scale vehicles. But I'm not going to pay a $100 for a vehicle I want just to hope it gets me a $100 vehicle I do want down the line.

^ Agreed 100%.
What's ridiculous though is you know there will be people waiting for it to go on clearance because they say they can't afford it at full price, yet they buy all the repacked figures because they are completists.

Well, I'll have to respectfully disagree with you hear.
We have all read how Hasbro has been VERY apprehensive to doing playsets and NEW large vehicles. This is OUR chance to show them they were not wrong for making the AT-TE and that there IS a market for larger toys.
If we DON'T buy this one then chances for other large SW toys will pretty much go out the window.
I applaud Hasbro for taking yet another risk on us and seemingly giving us what many of us have desired for 5 years now. So it's to THOSE people I implore to buy at least one at full retail price. You want it, you're getting it, so buy it already.
In a small way, I hope these kind of trickle out, so it creates a sense of urgency to buy them, then we might not be enticed into waiting for them to clearance. Making them and exclusive can help, but since we already know Target at least is getting them, if they are a Target exclusive, there will be a subset of people who will take their chances and wait for them to clearance.
This sends the wrong message to Hasbro.
It's CLEAR many collectors want the AT-TE, so yes, I do have to say in good conscience that it's time for we collectors to step up to the plate and buy this. heck I'll even go so far as to say we should be promoting the heck out of this toy on all of the major sites, so even casual passersby on the collecting sites will know of this in advance and potential create more buzz about it and more sales at retail.
Again, this is a respectful disagreement and not meant to incite a riot or flame.

After how well the Imperial Shuttle sold at $60.00, even the Endor AT-AT for $100.00, and basically everything else the past couple years, I'd say that AT-TE will do fine. Especially since it's a new vehicle and will be the first NEW big item offered in nearly 10 years!
Anything that's got a military feel to it in Star Wars is going to do well I think. The EPI Royal Starship was $100.00 and while I liked it, it didn't have the flavor of "war" that we see in the other films. That's why it didn't do well, at least in my opinion... plus it wasn't released at the initial launch of EPI merchandise, when it should have been.

Well that and the opinion by many that TPM sucked... (I tolerated it just fine...)
-
I was ok with it... though it's by far the weakest of the films for me... so much of it was cool though, Theed was great, I actually liked the political aspects of it, etc. The parts that let me down were the Gungan scenes (I think an established OT species like Ithorians would have been much, much more appealing) and the Podrace stuff didn't do much for me.
-
Hasbro will re-release this thing 10 times in the next 15 years. If they don't make all their money back right now, they will when they paint it up with Tiger Stripes, or desert dust effect, or EU Snow Effects...
I'll buy one now at full price - but I don't think it's the death of the large-scale item if some of these make it to clearance.
They've been selling the same AT-AT mold for almost 30 years!
-
What's ridiculous though is you know there will be people waiting for it to go on clearance because they say they can't afford it at full price, yet they buy all the repacked figures because they are completists.
I think that's funny that some say that then go out and buy 2 mid sized vehicles, 1 to open and 1 to keep boxed.
I for one am buying at least one at full price.
-
if it looks good i will buy one but sometihing tells me it will be like $150 CDN and that is IF it comes the the TRU in my area.
-

Precisely.
But we also have to consider that these thing are fairly cheep to make in the first place. Lets imagine that it costs Hasbro $100K to generate the master mold for this thing (which is generous.) Over 50K units, that's a $2 cost per unit and manufacturing and shipping incredibly cheep as well. If it costs Hasbro more than $20 per unit to get this thing from idea to the shelves, I'd be surprised. Probably only costs them $10.
-
I think costs are pretty speculative unless you work in that business or have some inside information. While actual production may only be 1/5th the retail cost, we have no idea what fixed costs went into development or package design or new machinery to manufacture this item. You can't always just make a new mold - sometimes a new tool or part is needed to make certain pieces. And you'd be surprised what print development costs - I know that most mmagazine ads cost between $50 and $100k just for creative development. And will this set include pack-in figures? If so, there's an additional cost as well. I do think its safe to say that at $100, they're getting at least a 50% margin on this item.
-
I'm thinking that it will be packed in with between 2-4 figures. Maybe two drivers, and two grunts. I wouldn't be surprised if they are just repacks of existing clones, but the drivers could have this helmet retooled to be one piece and a non-removable helmet onto the SA clone body -

Wow where are you getting those figures for costs of ads??? I work in the printing industry and haven't seen inflated numbers like that. heck, sign me up to work at that place, I'd make a fortune...
Seriously though, besides making the tooling for this, there is the actual manufacturing of the product, parts/supplies, labor (albeit cheap at the expense of the Chinese-and don't shoot the messenger here), printing, shipping, customs, distribution to retail warehouses, etc.
That being said, I can see it being something where they are making half again as much profit as it cost to make. But I can't base that on anything concrete, it's just a guess.
-

I work in the manufacturing industry and that is the typical agency cost for print plan development and production. I've often thought that I could photograph food on a plate or a happy couple smiling for far less, but there's obviously more to the process than that.

Man, I gotta tell you someone is forking someone over here. Unless its one of the industry's top photogs or ad people, there's no way ads are costing this much to produce.
Granted if for a national mag maybe the cost is due to distribution, but $50K?
I see ads all the time for local rags and people are lucky if they a few thousand for them. Unless it's part of a print campaign of successive ads, there isn't a chance of a one-shot garnering that much cash.
Heh, like I said, sign me up, I'll be happy to take much more of someone else's money for the same work I do now.

So, Hasbro wants to piss in our Wheaties.
I bet someone at the big H HQ is fuming and rethinking the whole Q&A thing now.
Heck, serves them right. They had the chance to be straight forward and up front. Instead they want to continue to play these games. It's fine by me, so long as we still get this toy.
-
Yeah, I'm not too thrilled with their little news bit.
If this sells for $100.00, I wonder what retailers are paying? $60 - $70? From my retail experience, most stores want at least a 30% profit margin on an item to make it worthwhile - especially on larger items that eat up more shelf space and don't sell as fast as lower ticket items.
-

I forgot to mention that I used to coordinate over seas production and worked in advertising before that. My production estimate costs are generous and the only way print ads can cost upwards of $100K to produce is if a celebrity is pictured in the ad. As stated above, Hasbro's cost is buying add space which is general overhead.
Pack-in figures do ad to the cost, but realistically, if it's not a new sculpt, we're talking pennies or even fractions of a penny. The SL Legends line is pure un-adulterated gravy to Hasbro. I would guess, based on my experience, that it costs them less than 50 cents per figure to get them to the shelves. The price they charge retailers is their profit mark up.
There is one X-factor however, that's the licensing cost they tack onto the production cost of each figure when it should be categorized as overhead.
-
Maybe now Hasbro can answer the question.
Here, I'll answer it for them:
No comment at this time. Check back at Toy Fair.
You're probably right.
I'm sure some sort of figures will be packed in; I'm curious if it will be EP2 or EP3 style helmets.
...also I seem to remember there being one of these used by the Empire in some comic that I saw while killing time at the mall... where the Imperials were under attack by a tribe of Amanin species. All I really remember was seeing some Stormies being attacked -
(http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/starwars/images/thumb/b/b6/SWEMP17-FC.jpg/431px-SWEMP17-FC.jpg)
...but I'm pretty sure they had an AT-TE? Or maybe a Juggernaut... anyways, they had some large prequel vehicle... the era between ROTS and ANH is the timeline I'm most interested in right now, so getting a vehicle like the AT-TE that could bridge the gap some more is one of the reasons I really want this vehicle to be made.
-

I think 30-40% is typical for groceries, but things like toys and electronics are a much higher mark up. I have less experience with toys, but the figures I have seen put them at a bare minimum 50% profit margin, which would mean that Target is paying no more than $50 for a $100 item. I remember someone with inside info posting that the Order $66 packs cost Target something like $2.25 each and they were selling for $9.99. Even at their lowest clearance price ($2.54 I think?) Target ended up making a few pennies on them.
-
Toy mark-ups are like all retailing mark-ups in that they vary greatly. There's no set % range really for toys... Just like there's no set range for blue jeans. Levi Jeans at JC Penney are a much MUCH higher margin than Arizona Jeans sold at the same store. Arizona are a tighter margin, but generally a much lower price, despite being similar in quality to one another... This is simply people paying more for name. The same applies even moreso then for a bigger name, say Tommy Hilfiger or Calvin Klein perhaps.
When I worked for Service Merchandise back many moons ago, I got a good look at the mark-ups from a managerial perspective on the SW brand, and they were fairly significant at that time, and that was with a bit of a higher licensing fee at the time since it pre-dated the license renegotiation after Episode 1's release and ultimate retail failure. That's not to say though that they were the norm for toys...
A good gauge to go by often, is the semi-routine discounts you'll see applied to a toy or brand of toys... For instance, TRU sells SW figures with "BOGO" sales every whipstitch. They're still profiting by selling one and giving one away. 20%, 25% off, are fairly common discounts at various stores that are applied because they don't really dent the profit too much compared to the volume the store thinks they can move with that "sale". They're not losing anything really (at least in their eyes), and it hopefully increases the sales for something so they can get new products in and on the shelves.
Like I said though, the range for toys is like all other retailing, in that a SW figure's profit margin compared to a Lego set is pretty dramatically different. Just look how often Legos go on sale even, and how deeply discounted they go sometimes before even being labeled "clearance". Lego, I'd bet, has a very hefty mark-up to it.
I always found this stuff interesting when I worked retail because it was eye-opening to what you pay compared to what a store makes... Any time I go into Wal-Mart and think of the HUGE number of figures they sold in a week or whatever, and I can't help but think of how much that must've generated... It's sort of mind-boggling in some ways!
-
My retail experience came from 3 years of management at Walgreens... their profit was lower than I expected on the non-drug items.
Of course that makes sense though, as their buying power is geared more towards vitamins, aspirin, etc. Most name brand items their profit was 30% or so - but generics with the Walgreens label the profit was always over 50%... I remember at the time the Star Wars figures at Walgreens were $7.99 - and the COST was $5.84 per figure - so Walgreens actually paid more for their Star Wars figures than what Wal-Mart was selling them.
Also, gallons of milk had a profit margin of less than 5%. So did bacon... I just remember those two in particular because at one store I was running the damn cooler/freezer orders all the time.
-
that the Order $66 packs cost Target something like $2.25 each and they were selling for $9.99.
Take that with a grain of salt.
-
Back to talking about the toy...
I'm personally hoping for one, maybe two pack-in figures. I'd be happy with the Evolutions Phase I Clone Trooper, one being the pilot version and the other being the standard, white armored grunt Clone for the dorsal cannon position.
As for the interior? I'd like to see a couple of gunner stations on the inside, for the point defense turrets. And then some kind of troop seating, with some kind of deployment hatch(es). I think those features would really give this some play value.
-
RS is now reporting that this should be around the $150 area.
-
Really? That runs counter to the info that was pulled from the Target computer system. Although I haven't tried running that DCPI at a store yet.
-
I was surprised as well. I'm hoping their report is wrong.
-
Ditto - while I will still buy it with a $150 price tag, I think that they should really do their best to keep it UNDER the $100 mark.
-
$150 would pretty much put it beyond my means. Here's hoping it's not true.
-
I think $100 is the sweet spot. Rip out the electronics/sounds + pack in figures and I think we'll all be pleasantly suprised. When is the last time Hasbro put out any 3 3/4 Hasbro toy over $99? Bueller?
-
When is the last time Hasbro put out any 3 3/4 Hasbro toy over $99? Bueller?
I believe when FAO had the Imperial Shuttle that was the closest at $100.
-
Pretty sure the Shuttle was $150 at FAO.
And the Royal Starship hovered around the $100 price point - some places more.
-
Let's hope it stays at $100.00. If it's $150.00, that could be good news as it is likely to be much more accurate, but I think that price point will really be pushing it for a lot of collectors.
How many toys cost that much these days outside of video game systems?
-
Man, $150? Gulp, that's a lot. This thing must be super grand for it to cost so much. There's an all new figure that comes with it, but dang, that's a lot. :-\
-
I will be shocked if this thing retails for more than $99.99. You'd be hard pressed to find anything in the toy dept. (outside of the RC aisle and that Butterscotch horse) that retails for more than $100.
-
$150's a LOT of money for anyone, and for any toy, so unless this thing is really accurate I certainly won't be buying one. It's not even that big actually... So the toy had better be something special for that price, otherwise I just won't be picking one up.
Last I'd checked the number, the Target price had not changed on this, but prices on Target items in the system have changed in the past and this is a LONG way off from being released if it's a Clone Wars toy (as its listing says), so anything's possible...
Part of me thinks a 50% jump in price bodes well for the scale of it, but the other part of me thinks it could still be small/underscale and just cost an arm and a leg. I guess my hopes aren't up either way on it still.
-
Checked it tonight, and still $99.99 this evening... Whether it stays that way? Who is to say? Long ways till the Fall though, so anything's possible at this point.
-
Good to know the price is still at that point. But a lot can happen between now and the launch of the Clone Wars line.
-
Mn ToyFare just can't get here fast enough. Hasbro better come clean with this bad boy!
-
I'd say for $100, it will be cool. But for $150, it could be outstanding... I'd rather fork an extra $50 for something truly awesome than spend a bit less on something that leaves a few areas to be desired.

based on that pic im not impressed. looks like its still way to small and not worth $100. however that is only based on these pics. I want closer more detailed pics before i make a decision.
-
Yay more Hulk Hands! I can't believe their bringing those back.
-
It doesn't look overly gigantic, but I still can't wait to see this thing in person. The spiderman suction wall climbing action is pretty cool.
-

I feel the same way, I am totally not impressed by its size.
Then again, if I recall, when the AT-AT first came out again for the POTF2 line, it was nothing more than a repaint of the old vintage toy with the vintage electronics removed and the "Darth Vader Hologram" electronics added - and that retailed for somewhere in the ballpark of $80 - $100. And then just recently when the "Endor" AT-AT came out as a TRU exclusive, that was sold in the $100 ballpark.
So considering that this is a 100% new sculpt, I'm not surprised that even with it's diminutive size, it's going to clock in at $100.
-
I gotta admit - this thing looks cooler than I was first expecting based on the teeny little picture available. Its hard to tell depth, but does it look a little on the small side to anyone else? Doesn't look as long as an AT-AT to me...
-
I think you guys might be underestimating the size of this.
Hulk hands are approximately 10 inches from bottom of wrist to top of fist as shown in the pic on the table. Knowing this measurement enabled me to use the tool in photoshop to measure the rest.
In photoshop you can measure things even when they are in perspective like this. Using the table, walls, and the chair, I can ascertain that the AT-TE is at least 10 inches to 12 inches tall. Using that mark, and cross-referencing the height of the AT-AT (actual-not toy) (15.5M) against the AT-TE (actual) 5.02M, we ARE getting an AT-TE close to scale.
Also using that mark for the height, can place the length of the toy AT-TE at between 1.5 and 2 ft! As well again using these measurements, it's at least 12 inches wide! That's right on the mark give or take a small margin (within acceptance of true scale). The cannon measures approx 2in "tall" from where it meets the body to the topside of the cannon. Can't get a length of the cannon as there is no picture to give me a reference for the toy. The body section is approx 4-4.5 inches tall, easily fitting clonetroopers! Which leaves us with 3.5-4 inches of space under the body. A close squeeze yes for clones to walk underneath, but the point being it does appear they CAN be place under it, yet fully upright!
Given all of these measurements, it appears we have an AT-TE toy that is 80% (at worst) to 95% (at best) scale with the figures.
That's freakin' outstanding, if you ask me. A damn sight bette than the Infiltrator!

Zoomed in and sharpened up a bit.

-
Just eyeballing it, and I'm a scale fanatic as you guys know, I'm with Sal right now...
What I think is happening is that you guys may be overestimating the size of an AT-TE. They're really quite dwarfish compared to most vehicles... AT-AT's in the film are 20meters high (15.5m is the listed height, but it's way off) compared to the height of a human as well as the known size of a snowspeeder, etc. Pretty tall things. That works out roughly to like 40" tall for a scale one...
The AT-TE on the other hand is quite short and low to the ground in the movies. There's some good shots of troops advancing ahead of one on Geonosis where you can see a trooper stands above the footpad on one quite easily... They're actually not a big vehicle. Further examination of the ICS books shows that the interior is very "cramped" to fit the soldiers inside. Probably their troop compliments are exagerated and really shouldn't have been so high.
I'm with Sal on this at the moment... Tough to say exactly by the photos of course, but for $150-ish, and possibly even being to-scale (oh god, if it is I don't know if I'm happy or sad :-\ ), I'd say that's not bad... Add in possible electronics and such. It really could be impressive. Plus, it's generally in the background from what I saw... Perspective has a way of distorting stuff.
-
(http://farm1.static.flickr.com/6/11109759_d15a4e3f71.jpg?v=0)
Here's a pic of the prop's rear-end by the way... The gun atop features just a simple "seat" for an average-sized human. By that comparison it sort of gives the strongest impressions of how small the AT-TE really is. Not a big item, not by SW standards anyway.
-
All I know, is that it looks like a figure can stand under it. That alone makes it cool enough size-wise. I never expect things to be 100% to scale, that's just impossible, but it looks large enough to be impressive, not like, say, um...the Sith Infiltrator.
By the way, anyone see the CLONE HELMET behind the guy on the right in the second photo?
-
I'm very happy with how this looks. I'll get at least one at full price. Perhaps two.
-
I'm committed to getting one at full price. If it's $100, then I'll get three at full price. If it's $150, I'll get one and PRAY for it to clearance (and that I can find it on clearance) so I can get two more.
-
For the curious, I did some calculations on what it would take for it to be "to-scale" according to the only dimensions I can find... These are close the 1/4", not down to 1/8 or 1/16, so it has a slight bit of +/- to it, but it gives you the jist of it...
11.5" Wide (Hull & Legs)
28.75" Length (Hull)
12" High
This is the most thorough dimension listing for the vehicle, pulled from the Incredible Cross Section... That doesn't necessarilly mean it's 100% accurate either, but it's what there is without film scrutiny.
Anyway, a foot high's not much at all actually due to this being measured to the vehicle's back when standing or possibly to the gun turret's highest point... a little over 2 feet in length, again, not that large... about a foot for the width, which is taking in account the width is at its widest point (the center legs). It's a very interesting size too... I did a quick cobbling together of these dimensions out of scraps I had around... Just to give the impression of what a toy like this would be to hold. It's really not bad at all, or "awkward" as a toy.
Anyway, thought this would spark some ideas or curiosity... I'm so-so on the scale of this. If it's spot on or very close, I'm down for at least one... I tend to give some flexibility to SW vehicles because of variances in size in the models as well. TE's exist as CGI models, physical maquettes, and other source materials, and much like the Jedi Fighter in ROTS, the "size" of the craft changed (sometimes right before your very eyes... Watch Anakin and Padme on the veranda before he goes to Mustafar to off the CIS guys... The size of teh fighter changes from the lifesize prop/set piece to the CGI model), and thus the numbers have what I call "Fudge Room"... The joys of modeling in fiction and not reality. ;)
I dunno... I watch that video, and man that looks like it has the possibility of being damn close to me, or even spot on... Which I'll be amazed if it is. They DO crank out scale vehicles though, and more often than people realize.
-
Awesome to see this thing in the flesh so to speak. I think it look pretty darn cool and pretty darn big. Come on, with holding 20 figures, it has to be a certain size minimum.
-
It is nice to get a little bit of a glimpse at this thing, another one of "Hasbro's worst-kept secrets" at this point. At least we know pretty definitively at this point that it is on the way, so that's good. From what we can see, it looks pretty good to me. I usually have to stay away from higher price-point things, but I'm hoping I have the cash to pick one of these up (and the Falcon, if that is true). It will be great to get a close look at this at Toy Fair, but it seems to be shaping up pretty nicely. I could see the $100 pricepoint on this, but $150 does seem a bit high. We'll see what it all includes I guess. Hopefully the CW toon draws in the kiddos too, so that something like this might be on Christmas lists this year. It would just be nice to see a big SW toy on the want lists again, but those days (for kids) may be gone with the big shift to video games at a younger age. Anyways, looks good so far.
-
By the way, anyone see the CLONE HELMET behind the guy on the right in the second photo?
Maybe its the voice changer?

I didn't get a good look at it - is it just part of the silly kids costume thing that Target now has in the aisle on the bottom shelf?
-
I assumed it to be the voice changer... It's a full clone helmet (AOTC style), so that'd be the most likely thing. They seem to be pushing that item like the Vader helmet in 2005, as I guess it's been a fairly popular piece despite seeing them everywhere.
-
I have a few collector friends who don't visit any of the collector sites that I've been able to break the news to about this item. It's cool to see first hand the excitement.

My kids love the DV voice changer and I think a clone/stormie helmet is a great idea. My oldest is more interested in troops than any other characters (including DV).

"I have a few collector friends who don't visit any of the collector sites..."
Just curious, how does one know what to collect if they don't hit collector sites? I'd have no idea what was coming or going, since Hasbro does so little promotion. Yeah, I could buy Tomarts or Lee's, but they don't seem as vital anymore.

One doesn't need to know. I remember how "cool" the 80's were when I had no idea what new wave or what not was coming out. I still remember when I heard that Hasbro made an Autobot City (Metroplex) and that blew my socks off. I believe it was the Sears wish book - or was it JC Penny's that spilled the beans on lots of goodies back in the day. Ahhh...sweet memories. :)
-
Oh! I needed to know! ;D That's why Kenner used to release those multi page books with all of the vehicles and figures for the next few months or year. I awaited the Sears catalog eagerly every season.
I was very aware of what was coming, we just didn't know when back then.
-
Yeah I missed those days sitting hour after hour with the Sears and JC penny catalogs staring at what was coming out.
-
Yeah I missed those days sitting hour after hour with the Sears and JC penny catalogs staring at what was coming out.
Me too. Those were the days.
-
I agree, I miss the "simple days" as well in that respect. These days, you almost have to keep up on things online, or you'd miss out. Things seem to sell through quite quickly overall, with some exceptions. It was nicer when you could go into any store and pretty much find which character you were looking for, in the 80s :).
-
For those curious...
In other news, the new Falcon's got a supposed length measurement of 80cm, while the new AT-TE has a length measurement of 70cm... Either could be completely bogus or inaccurate, so take that with a grain of salt... What's interesting is this though;
The AT-TE length makes it almost 100% 1:18 scale. It's 1:17.71, which is by far and away 1:18 scale... You get that small and the fudge room is not noticeable.
If that's the case, I'm down for two. More if possible.
Again, take it with a grain of salt... It could be inaccurate.
-
Electronic sounds and motorized doorway system have got me sold on this. This was the best part of the vintage ships IMO. I'll defintiely get one now, maybe two as well.
-
Check out the front page for some Rumors & Rumblings (http://www.jedidefender.com/newspro/fullnews.cgi?newsid1202777523,60620,) that includes some details on the AT-TE you won't want to miss. ;) Boy I hope that thing's rumored size holds up because I'm up for 2 if that's the case!
-
Hmmm...where to put this ginat toy? I've got it! I'm going to hang it as if it's walking up the wall with a cable like in the CW3D tralier! That'll save some floor space.
-
Damn, with the rumor of it being scale accurate I'm almost tempted to get 3 of them.
-
Wow. I really wanted it to be so-so, so I would only need one. It's starting to sound like I'm gonna need two... :-[
I'm really curious about how a ship this expensive and large yet with so much demand is gonna do at retail. That'll be interesting to see.
-

I hope you have sturdy ceiling beams. ;) Actually it probably won't weigh a ton... I have an Avenger Torpedoe bomber on my ceiling and I thought this was testing the limits of hanging crap from the ceiling, but it's up there AOK. I used some pretty decent wire to hang it though opposed to using clear heavy fishing line and such to avoid visible lines... Worked for me though. Hanging one walking up the wall is a really interesting concept and one I might try myself someday. Better way to display something without it taking up too much space when it's this big.
My problem is I'm seriously entertaining the thought of two, if they're to-scale... 70cm would seem to put it there though, if that length holds true. Wowza... :o
-
Speaking of this walking up the wall schtick, did you see in the CW video that the new Jedi girl is standing on the cockpit fighting as it's climbing? Very cool.
-
I hate to say it, but it's sounding more and more like we're getting more than our money's worth. :D
-
I hate to say it, but it's sounding more and more like we're getting more than our money's worth. :D
And that's a problem???
heh heh.
-
Hard to believe that this is going to be very close to scale and come with lights and sounds for around $100ish, but I'm not complaining.
Two for me please! :)
-
This is continuing to sound quite cool, and I'm looking forward to seeing it (hopefully) this weekend at Toy Fair. I would think that would be one of Hasbro's big "reveals". I really hope to be able to pick one up, but it will probably take some convincing with the Mrs. to make it happen. As much as I'm looking forward to the rumored Falcon, I almost hope these two things are spaced out a bit or its going to be a bit much for me to afford.
-
If it's between $100-120, then I'll take at least three. I'm considering 5 total.
The first three would be one each for Geonosis, Utapau, Felucia. If I get the other two they would be one each for Coruscant and Kashyyyk.
Thanks Mr. Bush for the tax rebate! (That's the first time I've thanks him for anything in the last 7 years....lol)
-
This will make a nice X-mas gift for the kiddies...
-
Yeah the Kiddies....
And the Daddies ;D
-
Yeah the Kiddies....
And the Daddies ;D
And the geeks, nerd, boyfriends, fiancees, brothers, cousins etc.
Man, I wish I could get my hands on one of these AT-TEs today!
-
I can see it now
Yes Hun I know he is only one years old but I think he really wants an AT-TE for Christmas, But since it is very expensive and I won't want it to break on him I'll keep it in my room for safe keeping ;D. Oh and I think he said a big screen TV too. ;D ;D
-
I will be able to justify either the Falcon or the AT-TE but probably not both of them. Especially if they are released close together. Unless I want to buy nothing the rest of the year. I doubt that will happen. Anyway the AT-TE is sounding awesome!
-
Indeed... By all accounts we've heard/read, this isn't going to be a downer of a toy. I hate to get all amped up for anything in life really, but this is something I keep getting psyched about the more they talk about it.
I wonder if there's going to be repaints then down the road? Imperial grey would be welcome IMO, but I might be in the minority on that. They're in the "Empire" series of comics though, so I'd be down for one of those. Maybe market it as a Force Unleashed thing or something.
-
Yeah the Kiddies....
And the Daddies ;D
And the geeks, nerd, boyfriends, fiancees, brothers, cousins etc.
The sportos, the motorheads, geeks, sluts, bloods, waistoids, dweebies, dickheads - they all adore it. They think it's a righteous machine.
-
Mmmm Mmmm Mmmm... What a little bitch.

-
Nice to finally get some sort of "official" confirmation on this poorly kept secret. ;)
-
Wow all those clone wars toys hit right before my birthday.
Ok all I am having a birthday party and if you were thinking of getting me something nice let me spell it out for you AT-TE
-
Nice to finally get some sort of "official" confirmation on this poorly kept secret. ;)
...And to think - you're going to be amongst the first who gets to finally see it in person. :) I'm sure you're already making room for it on your Geonosian table.
-
Woo-hoo! This is excellent news. It's definitely three for me and more likely 5.
-
This is pleasant news. I guess the AT-TE will hit on day one with all of the rest of the Clone Wars product.
So it's looking like July will be a VERY expensive month indeed.
-

Midnight Madness here I come!!!
-
Hasbro just sent us word though...
Even what they say is rumor, and you really shouldn't expect this to be confirmed till you physically pick one up in your hands, and are allowed to purchase it at a retail counter... The statement from Hasbro read that there's rampant rumor and speculation to the point that they believe even holographic projections are being put out there editing AT-TE's into background images to imply one exists. Hasbro will not confirm/deny it... even if they say it's real, so only believe it when you actually get one.
Much like Target's Ultimate Battlepacks, trust noone, and believe it only when you see it yourself first-hand...
Even then, make sure it's not a trick by some prankster putting a full sized custom on your local store shelves.
We dont' want this getting out of hand guys.
(sarcasm above, enjoy)
-
Isn't this just Hasbro trying to "control" the flow of information about product like they always do? Between published reports and the CNN video, I think its pretty fair to say that at some point this year, we will see an AT-TE for $100 on shelves somewhere. Not sure why they have this need to stick to an official announcement when the cat is already out of the bag. :-\
-
Basically, yeah... They also like to curtail the things that are mistakes too, and remind people that when you hear mistaken reports/rumors from sites out there, you shouldn't hold it against them and remember that sources online get information second-hand... They've expressed in the past how rumors do, to an extent, spiral out of control.
Add to it then that some sites I believe put out "rumors" that are basically fanboy wishlists anyone could come up with and still get some right and some wrong, and you've got a whole dynamic to the rumor-reporting thing that really can get people's hopes up and then let some people down... Not everything over time has come from really concrete sources and some has been more off the mark than on despite being claimed to be "valid"... It happens. Hasbro's reminding people that, till it's out of their lips, it's just gossip and may not come to fruition.
Certain things though, like the AT-TE, have been public knowledge pretty much... The UBP's were the similar in that we'd seen 'em, we'd seen DPCI's, and we knew they were on the way, but Hasbro wouldn't comment. Seems more like the policy is just an across-the-board one even when we've seen an item they haven't personally confirmed yet is all.
-
That's PR departments for ya. On some level, they sometimes get a perverse joy out of messing with people.
-
It's really too bad that this stuff leaks as early as it does. How cool would it have been to hear about the AT-TE for the first time, from Jeff at Toy Fair?
There's really nothing being shown at Toy Fair that we don't already know about.
-
There's really nothing being shown at Toy Fair that we don't already know about.
THAT WE KNOW ABOUT. HASBRO HAS SOMETIMES SLIPPED SOME WOWS IN THERE. I DON'T THINK WE KNOW IT ALL. BUT WE WILL IN A FEW LONG DAYS
-
I GUESS TIME WILL TELL!
THANKS!
-
....BUT WE WILL IN A FEW LONG DAYS
Man, you said it. A few LONG days. It's Thursday now and it still feels a week off. This weekend just can't get here soon enough!
-
I'll be here saturday night...waiting...if not for the Sw stuff, for Indiana Jones! "Damn! I thought that was closer!"
-
I'll be here saturday night...waiting...if not for the Sw stuff, for Indiana Jones! "Damn! I thought that was closer!"
I'll be parked at the 'puter all night salivating.
I'll have several collecting website's homepages open, waiting on any news of toyfair.
-
For me it'll be like Christmas night. Not sleeping well due to the anticipation, then waking up in the morning to lots of joy.
-
I've got a friend going to the early bird whatchamacallit on Saturday. It's supposed to be a 5 hour event. I'm hoping to find out some prize info then. No pictures are allowed though... :(
-
Some early photos have leaked, and while large, it doesn't appear that it's to-scale as one had hoped... this seems to put the Rebelscum length estimates in some doubt, though they did come from European sources which I'm not sure are always as accurate as others over there... It doesn't look like it definitely is, however our rumor report on the opening troop doors does appear to be 100% on the money. :)
-
It's spectacular. :o
-
Yeah, it sure is!

I remember for years the naysayers said this would never be made, or that if it was it would suck. Wrong! ;D
If collectors can't be happy with this, they're just too hard to please.
-
Out-friggin standing.
And yes, this is VERY close to scale with the figures.
Lookslike my measurements from the CNN vid-clip were pretty accurate. No not exact but damn close.
I'm VERY happy with this. (Though I don't see how it can hold 20 clones-but 10 for sure)
3 for me please (and maybe two more)

Might take a minute for them all to upload... :)

Hey Jeff - any word on the clone that will come with the AT-TE? Will it be a Clone Wars version of the AT-TE Gunner or just a standard Clone?
-
Wow, that's a pretty nice toy... It does look like it's coming up a little short, but not by much... Enough I am thinking I may not buy it now is all, but that doesn't take away from what a nice toy it actually turned out to be...
It's not "70 cm" long though, as listed at Euro Scum, so that was off, but it's still pretty hefty looking...
I'll probably still debate in my mind on picking it up, but at the price I probably won't settle for something I have to tinker with to really make me happy. It's still outstanding for what it is though, and it seems the opening troop doors and everything were spot-on, as were the lights/sounds. Pretty nice!
-
Hey Jeff - any word on the clone that will come with the AT-TE? Will it be a Clone Wars version of the AT-TE Gunner or just a standard Clone?
Standard Cartoon-style Clone, the one pictured in the top turret...
It does look like it's coming up a little short, but not by much...
It's bigger in person. Once you see it, you'll cave and buy it. :P
-
That's part of what I keep thinking... The room inside looks cramped a bit, but I'm guessing that's because of electronics actually, not the vehicle's fault.
I know it'd be sacrilege to some, but there's part of me already plotting how I could gut one, and add the ICS interior to it... I gotta put that out of my mind for the time being and focus on all the other stuff, hah.
-
I didn't want to buy it, I don't want to buy it. But I WILL buy it. Fantastic, possibly the best vehicle ever created by Hasbro. Looks to be somewhat to scale, can hold a buttload of figures, and can also double as a playset. As a former doubter of this vehicle, I have to ask... who DOESN'T want one now?
My one and only complaint? Comes with the Cartoon Clone. Guess I'll just sell it off...
-
well after looking at a bunch of different pictures it does look like it can hold 20 clones. it will be cramped and a tight fit but they never said it wouldnt be ::)

To amuse myself, I'm posting some AT-TE photos to sort of compare the toy with...
This one really roughly shows where an average-height-human would stand compared to the legs/feet of a TE...
schematic, not real helpful for fans of scale...
This is the one that really gives an idea of size though. You see how tall a trooper is to the walker's foot, and it's a good pic for eyeballing scale.
I'm trying to convince myself one way or another... Wrong thing to do at 2:00 a.m. though. I gotta watch out or I'll be buying all of it by 4. :P
-
SWEET. I am so all over this. So all over this.

One thing I'm now wondering... when Hasbro says it can hold 20 Clones, do they mean it can hold 20 Animated Style Clones, 20 Movie Style Clones, or both? Looking at the pics, the Animated Clones are smaller and skinnier and overall look like they would take up less room than the SA Clones we've already gotten.
-
As cool as this behemoth looks, I'm going to have to pass. The one Clone Trooper figure included would probably push me over the edge and cause me to start buying the animated action figures. I'll wait for the eventual Felucia, Utapau, or Geonosis AT-TE repaints.
-

I'm wondering the same thing. I would image though that Hasbro wouldn't
put the effort into something that cool that wouldn't accommodate either/or.
-
Personally I don't think it'd make much difference as they're about the same size, no? I believe it can fit 20 though after Sal's diagram, as we mentioned in the rumor report, so that's nice... I think if the interior were more true to the Cross Section book I wouldn't be debating the purchase so much... I know, I know, it's great... I'm just trying to be cautious with purchases I'm not satisfied 100% with anymore.
Jeff's right though, I'll probably cave on it. Not 3 though like I thought at first, but maybe 2, probably 1.
-

Well damn....I didn't want t think of repaints...thanks, lol.
Seriously though, IIRC, there isn't a difference between ANY of the AT-TEs. They looked the same on all planets, just as the Gunships (from teh movies only) did. The only one I'd be interested in getting as a repaint would be a Geonosis one as that would be movie accurate (you'd hope). But I'll make due with this one now. I can always airbrush this myself to reflect the movie accurate deco.
-
Amazing! :o Hasbro finally delivers....I'm still down for at least two, maybe more if I can find some on clearance. I just can't believe there's still people out there bitching about scale.
-

Hmmm...I think you kinda make a good point...
-
I take back everything I said about the AT-TE. This thing ROCKS and I will be getting one sealed and one to open. The added fig is a nice bonus, though still not sure if I will collect the animated line. Its a good opportunity to jump ship for those of us with space and/or $$$ constraints.
-

Get it. I'll buy the figure off of you.
-
I'm happy for the people that wanted this so badly, and I think it's a pretty cool toy, but I'll pass. Way too expensive, and I don't have the space.
-
Man, the kids will love this. I may not be buying any figs this year but this a must have for X-Mas.

I appreciate the offer, but I have a weird issue where all of the stuff in my collection must be... complete, so I'll have to pass. I might actually cave and start buying animated figures when they come out, so I may actually end up with an AT-TE in my collection.
Speaking of the AT-TE, is anyone else liking the box art? I'd probably pay $50 just for the box itself. Easily the best artwork for any item in the line in quite some time.
-
I was pretty much convinced i wasnt going to buy one but after seeing it, i want one. It really looks impressive. Damn...I am so weak. ;)

Check this out! ;D

OMG. that's freakin' AWESOME!!!!!

I think it's safe to say that without any room for debate, this is by far the BEST Star Wars vehicle Kenner/Hasbro has ever produced.
-
I think it's safe to say that without any room for debate, this is by far the BEST Star Wars vehicle Kenner/Hasbro has ever produced.
Without a doubt!
If more kids were into SW, this would be a SERIOUS contender for toy of the year in the mainstream consumer market.
-
Guess our little report prior to Toy Fair was spot-on that the Troop Doors work via a motor and deploys 3 doors...
Very slick. And really, that guy's hand is either small or that's bigger than I was initially thinking. You're right Jeff, I'm changing fast... I'm however NOT changing my idea that I may actually gut one for a more "full" interior... I'm debating that idea.
Damn that's a nice piece though. Kudos to GalacticHunter's video too, very nice to show how it works.
-
Okay, now knowing how big the toy is, here is a comparative view of the dropship and AT-TE. As you can see the dropship would have to be HUGE. For such a "niche" vehicle as this, I don't see anyway of Hasbro making this (and affordable-given the most anyone would want on average would be one).
Though, I do look forward to seeing someone make a cool custom of this. The current gunship is too small to make it work, but I can see someone using it as the basis for the custom.
(Excuse the crude job of the graphic but I wanted to get this posted quickly and I'm on lunch and lunch is almost over with....)
-Sal
-
The dropship would be cool, but honestly I don't need one... I really don't think they'll ever get around to making it. If the AT-TE costs $100.00, this thing would probably be in that price range too, just because of the sheer size, right?
-
Another great PhotoShop job Sal! :)
I cannot see this ever getting made because a kid would have to be very big to pick up both toys to play out the feature. Let alone the drop ship toy pick up the damn thing. A larger gunship would be pretty sweet to have one day, but I want the Falcon first!
-
Hmm.....All this talk about the Drop Ship.
I'd love to see the drop test on this thing. Obviously it passed or this toy wouldn't be going forward into production, but I just think it would be nice to see what happens to good toys when bad things happen.
-
Another problem ... as I understand it the length is the same for both the LAAT/i infantry and LAAT/c cargo versions of the gunship (17.4 meters), and the only real difference is that the lower rear portion has been gutted to fit the vehicles.
But in order for the dropship toy to fit with the AT-TE toy, it would have to end up being significantly larger than the four previously released gunships. Putting them side-by-side would look (to use the vernacular of our times) pretty wack.
-

Exactly. That was my point. Hence why I posted the pic. (Maybe I should have included a ghosted toy gunship for scale ion relation to the AT-TE so we can see the difference in size the drop ship would need to be.
Ah well, another photoshop project if I have time tonight.
-
I don't know if this has been said definitively or not, but is the AT-TE going to be out on 7/26 or later in the year (around holidays)? Just curious, as I map out my savings plan :P.
-
I'm pretty sure that 7/26 is the release date...
-

Hey Chewie - where did you hear that? A couple of other sites are indicating that Hasbro said the AT-TE was coming out more towards the holiday shopping season, so I wouldn't expect it until September/October.
-
I BELEIVE HASBRO STATED IN THEIR SLIDE SHOW THAT IT WOULD BE RELEASE 7/26. I MAY BE WRONG BUT I WOULD THINK IF THEY WERE GOING TO HAVE A MOVIE RELEASE IN AUGUST THE STORES WOULD NEED TO BE PACKED WITH TOYS FOR ALL THE KIDDIES COMING OUT OF THE MOVIES AND WANTING THE TOYS. I SMELL MIDNIGHT MADNESS COMING THIS SUMMER. AND EACH STORE GETTING TWO AT-TE IN. AND FIVE HUNDRED YODA PEG WARMERS.
-
And here (http://www.jedidefender.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=16199.msg349495#msg349495)
-
I can see this being in short supply and cleaned out for midnight madness, it's the first thing people will go for with most buying two.
Man, it's like they are printing Benjamins with the AT-TE! :o
-

Agreed.
I'm wondering if they'll actually put a limit on these things.
I plan on hitting every and any store that does a midnight madness that night, in my area.
I'm hoping to at least score 3 of the 5 I want. But, my mission is at the least 1 for me and my fiancee will pick up another, plus 2-4 Homing Spider droids. The figures can wait. I expect them to be easy to find. I'm not getting the animated stuff, so it would just be the realistic figs. I dn't see wave 3 selling all that fast. Yes, maybe for midnight madness, but in a week or two they'll be replenished.
-

I don't know, I could have sworn I've seen in posted in a few places? Maybe forums, so it could be incorrect information.
As for getting this sucker, starting in early July, I'll be hitting Target customer service with the DPCI...
-

EXACTLY. With 40 Targets around the Mpls metro, I'm hoping this is not much trouble to track down, especially with the DPCI trick.
-
DCPI is right! I almost forgot because I hate Target so much. However, I hate crowds more, so I will do the same just to get it out of the way. I plan on getting 2 AT-TE's and x4 Homing spiders. I am not to juiced about the Torrent so I will only picking up one of those.
-

The price and release date were announced in Hasbro's press release (http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=68329&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=1107837&highlight=). 7.26.08
-
People really think there will be a midnight madness? I donno.
-
There may or may not be a midnight madness. But it does appear to be a hard street date. That date showed up in almost all of the Hasbro presentation slides. There are a good number of movie licensed toy lines out there that launch on a specific date, and usually the cases have the street date stamped in red.
-
The 26th is also a Saturday, which increases the potential for having an Midnight sale.
-
It might be good to start petitions to the big three (Wal*Mart, Target, TRU) to have midnight madness events.
Be nice if we could get fellow SW collecting sites participation in this as well.
At the least I know I'm going to be asking often of my local stores to have an event, ESPECIALLY TRU. I REALLY want them to succeed. This will in all likelyhood be the LAST hurrah for the SW line as far as BIG releases go. So TRU (or one or both of the others) should try to capitalize on this.
Even if you folks don't want to do a petition nationally, hit up you local stores. It's possible we might create enough buzz there for the Corp HQs to take notice.
-Sal
-

Sal is right, we should ask TRU to plant the seeds. I am sure they are already planning it, but I think it will be up to the store to decides and may not see as much support as the movies.
Sal my friend, you did forgot the one other SW major project the Flanneled Bearded one has on tap. Maybe you should revise your quote to this:
This will in all likelyhood be the LAST hurrah for the SW line as far as BIG releases go until the live action TV show.
-
There will be more movies. There's too much money involved.

Oh I didn't forget it, but since as of this moment there are no talks of a movie being released along side it to kickstart sales of action figures, then I'd be surprised if there would be another midnight madness for the live show.
Also, the live action show hasn't even really started production. So who knows if that will ever even really get off the ground. I think the success of the cartoon AND toys for the cartoon are going to play into the live show being done or not and for how long.
So I chose to actively omit the live show as a reference point to a midnight madness. heh heh

Fair points and fair enough. ;D
As long as we get some cool toys and keep SW alive is all I care about. I have invested too much to see this end. I need new figures now!!!! I already have 2008 wave 1 & 2 and my SW figure crack-whore shakes are kicking in.
This drought is going to be difficult.....

Ha, you're lucky you even got any of the 2008 stuff. I've been "sober" for a few weeks now, but my crack is delivering from HTS next week, so I'll try to stick it out. The methodone Transformers figures just aren't cutting it anymore and I don't want to up that dosage...lol
(Gawd the crazy sh** we discuss)

Maybe this has been seen before, but I just noticed some pics over at SSG (http://www.sirstevesguide.com/index.php?categoryid=13&p2_articleid=1351) showing what looks like some shots of the unpainted proto of the AT-TE. The interesting thing to me was some pics of a kid playing with the vehicle, which really gives some perspective as to the size of the AT-TE. Wow.
-
I did see those before, looks pretty cool in the dominant gray scheme... makes me want to get one to repaint all gray for the OT era.
-

Yeah, but those blue balls got me all kinds of scared!
Though, if my fiancee bought one of these for me, it would be the first time I'd be happy to have blue balls, lol.
-
The unpainted grey AT-TE with the blue color on those gun turrets was actually the model our sources spotted prior to Toy Fair in our report. The vehicle is a pretty early prototype, and had all the features and such, however no paint applications and some seemingly miscolored pieces for whatever reason.
I wouldn't doubt an Imperial redecoration of the AT-TE though, in a more simple grey, should this sell really well... All signs point to Hasbro really using this as a test to see how big ticket items move.
The AT-TE really could open doors for a lot of different things if it's a good seller. More than people may even realize. ;)
-
It looks so awesome ... thanks for the link Brian!

Here's a comparision shot for ya's ^
-
Thanks Mike that's interesting seeing them compared to the SA AOTC Clone. Very cool... It actually doesn't look terribly different. I'd classify it as "different enough", but still well done. The blasters look surprisingly detailed.
-
The funny thing is that I prefer that outward-sloping "bucket" look to what we actually got in AOTC.
-
The animated style is really starting to grow on me. :-\ :-X

Not a problem!
Yes, the blasters are really well detailed:

That really surprised me as did the removeable belt!
More pics here (http://s19.photobucket.com/albums/b176/arctrooper/) in my photobucket album.

The Clone Wars animated style does look good. My favorite armor has alwasy been the Phase 1, and I think they've done a great job keeping it's likeness. The legs are a little thinner and the helmet is a little larger, but this is common in many animations: big heads and upper bodies with smaller legs. In an art class in college (human composition) we learned that this is usually the proportions that we have until we reach the end of our growth cycles. It's most easily detected in babies, they usually have big heads compared to the rest of their bodies. Yoda is proportionally similiar, his head is almost a fourth of his body.
-
that is a nice comparison look at the clones
i still like the original better than animated ones after looking at the pic
i will definitly buy the atte for my clones
-
I don't know what the deal is with the removeable belt???
-
I would guess it's removable to help them add/subtract different belts/kamas as needed so they can re-use the Clone legs.
Or maybe it's more removable than intended since it's an early/leaked figure?
-
I would guess it's removable to help them add/subtract different belts/kamas as needed so they can re-use the Clone legs.
Very good point!
-
Jeff has a good point and is probably right on the mark. Speculation makes me wonder though, if it might be a good way to add on other accessories: backpack, jetpack, heavy rocket launcher, grappling hook launcher, etc...time will tell.
-
Gotta admit those clones look good, but I think it's the weathering on them that I really like.
-
Chewie, I feel the same way about the Force Unleashed troopers. It makes them look like hardened warriors, don't you think?
-
I do like those troopers too... I just wish they had a bit more weathering... I might have to do a little work on mine. :)
-
There's a new Walk though video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCSOhDMOwZk&eurl) for this.
-
Very cool look at the AT-TE. I guess for the price tag, you should get that much playability from the toy. Off to the left looked like new Falcon and may be the sticker sheet for the AT-TE? I'm still saving up for this guy.
-
Just saw about 8 of these in a "dump" in the middle of an aisle at a Wal-Mart, with electronic blasters on the other half. $99.96 a pop for the AT-TE.

I assumed so as well, but figured I would check. The Pittsburgh guys have been finding stuff early lately as well, so one can always hope its closer to home!

Wait, WHAT???
That's news to me. I haven't seen any CW stuff. The only thing that I know of reported by we Pittsburgh guys has been the cheapo printed materials, not any of the toys.
I WISH I could find this stuff early. I don't want to have to scramble for this stuff on 7/26. I just hope merchandise at my TRU is plentiful and that they keep things organized. I plan on being there EARLY so it shouldn't be a problem. However, you never know when some over zealous fan or scalper may push you aside to get to the toys.
-
Yeah I think you got fed some misinformation Jman... That or someone is finding stuff and not sharing. :P
Hell, we don't even have much 30th stuff at some stures anymore. I know my nearby WM's depleted of just about everything when less than a month ago the pegs were full. Not sure why that happened or how, but our stores are starting to run dry.
-

Exactly. No CW toys at all. Last wave of Legends is HTF. TFU stuff is a trickle.
I'm actually glad of this in that I've had some extra money lately.
But that's now being sapped by Halo stuff. And in just two short weeks and a day, what we expect to be the last BIG toy release for SW.
-
Do you know how many clone troopers we get with the AT-TE? I heard that it's 7? Is that true?
Thanks for your help!
I hope I can get one! I'm saving up my allowance! ;D

No, sadly only 1 clone trooper comes with the AT-TE.
-
???Really??? Awwww... :P
-
Yeah AND it's animated... I should be getting at least two of these. I might keep one of the clones so the other would be up for sale or trade. Though I don't think there is any significant difference between the clone in the AT-TE and the standard clone coming in the figure line.
-
I really like the animated look of the clones. Wish more came with it
-

Well, if they added figs, they would add cost, so that doesn't make much sense. I'd rather they dropped the fig and made in $90 personally. You CAN always just buy more basic clones you know...
-
Yeah, guess you're right. But the animated clones are 8$ each. buying 19 more would cost a lot.

Possible thinking here could be that you need one to get started. Either for the Cockpit or the dorsal cannon. (And that's the way to hook people into getting more to fill it up.)
-
Yeah, guess you're right. But the animated clones are 8$ each. buying 19 more would cost a lot.
True, if you're filling them up with animated clones.
Most of us have enough realistic clones to fill several AT-TEs.

Well, I'm using one for Geonosis, so that gets AOTC clones.
Another for Utapau, so Cody's clones for that.
If I buy the other three I'm debating on they will be filled with the following:
Coruscant: Grey Coruscant clones
Kashyyyk: Elite/Kashyyyk Clones
Felucia: Bly's clones

If I buy the other three I'm debating on they will be filled with the following:
Coruscant: Grey Coruscant clones
Kashyyyk: Elite/Kashyyyk Clones
Felucia: Bly's clones
Dude, how are you going to display five ATTE's? You must have one mother of a display room!
Well that's just it, I'm not, YET.
I've got room for one to display, but the others I get will all go to storage for now. (Thankfully I think I'm a couple weeks away from closing on a house, then whoo-boy, I'm going to have tons of room. The basement is all mine, minuse the space for the water heater, washer, dryer and half bath.)
I do have something fun planned for how I display the first one and it has nothing to do with how I described it above. But you all will have to wait and see for that. Pics and a video to follow around the weekend of 7/26-and NO nothing weird or dirty...don't even misquote me, lol.
-
I was hoping to get a few of these, but there's no way in hell I have room. I did get one though, and have to say that this is probably the best work I've seen Hasbro do so far, as far as an item for a diorama. Regarding play value though? Not as good as I thought it would be because the darn legs keep popping out of their sockets each time I move it. As a kid, I'd probably be very frustrated with that.

Probably going to just stick with the one I have, but who knows. I might talk myself into getting a second one later this summer.
-
Nice early find!

As a collector, I'm going to be frustrated with that. :-\
-
Well considering mine will just mostly stand around, I'm not worried about the legs popping off. I won't be playing with it. <--waits to be misquoted...
-
The good thing is we know who is hosting the images.
-
I just scored one at Target and will open it tomorrow. I will let you know if mine has the leg problem. I really thought the box was going to be bigger, looking forward to cracking this open.
-
Yeah I'm shocked (by looking at the size of it in pictures) to hear how small the box is. It goes to show how Hasbro can make "big" things not so big... When you think about it, the Spider Droid is mostly air, and yet as a toy it looks pretty huge... In reality, it's all height on 4 spindly legs, so it makes a great $20 vehicle because there's not much to it.
Same with the V-19... It's the vehicles with bulk to them that become more a problem, like the Sith Infiltrator or whatnot. This is why I wish Hasbro would do more to-scale vehicles... The TE, the V-19... They're great. Ships like the Y-Wing, if it had removable engine nacels, would be insanely less bulky to package. Same goes for the X-Wing... Small ships really when you break them down, and definitely doable to-scale.
-
Ships like the Y-Wing, if it had removable engine nacels, would be insanely less bulky to package.
Mine came right off when I went to store a few of these. Are these not supposed to be reconnected? This ship could have easily fit in with the $19.99 Starfighter assortment IMO.
-
I meant the entire Nacell, from cone to engine's rear. I've always thought a new one with "pop-off nacels" would be an insanely cool feature, ala the pop-off wings of TIE Fighters. Considering Y-Wings are basically cannon fodder in the movies, and the nacels blow off first usually, I'm surprised the original toy didn't include that.
I hope we get something new for that ship someday as it'd make a great "big" ship ala the new TIE Fighters I think. One of the finer OT designs as far as detail goes.
-
Scored one of these yesterday at Target. Like Jack, I should be getting around to opening it today.
-
Scored one earlier this afternoon. The box is quite heavy! I only wish I had time to open it up before I had to head in to the office today.
-
It seems that a few of you have found the AT-TE but haven't opened the box yet. What gives? ;)
-
It seems that a few of you have found the AT-TE but haven't opened the box yet. What gives? ;)
Yeah, no joke. I'd be opening that pup on the way home!
-
Got around to opening mine - pretty easy assembly. It is sizable and very cool. In playing around with it, I am having the same problem with legs easily popping off as others are. It is kind of annoying, buy only if you really play with it. I did fill it with figures as well. The top gun racks in the back seem pointless as the blasters really don't fit in. Other than that, it's awesome.
-
Got around to putting mine together last night. Very, very cool. It assembled pretty easily. The one hitch I've run into is that the main cannon doesn't hold on very securely. I need to dig out some clones from my storage bins to crew the thing now!
-
The whole leg thing is getting really annoying really quick. My kids are loving hitting the buttons and deploying the ramp, but you can't do that without the legs falling off. You have to hold it's belly, and even then, the weight of the thing barely holds itself up. Have to play around with it more to find positions for the legs that will hold.
-
I may wait and see if they make a running revision to fix it.
I must admit, this is disappointing to hear.
-
Yeah, it is a little disappointing to hear that this is a problem that is popping up for a few people. Who knows how big of a deal it is, but I'll use it to make myself feel better about not being able to pick one of these up right away (its this or the Falcon for me this weekend, can't afford both). I'll hope they get it fixed, and I can pick one up a couple months down the road.
-
When I first opened the box, I was frustrated with the legs. I thought I had the legs in the wrong position at first. Or that they were spread out wrong.
Personally, I don't think they'll fix this. Like I said earlier, as a kid I'd be aggravated. Very aggravated. But as an adult, it's more of an eye-candy diorama piece. So I'm fine with it... if you're just going to put it in a diorama, then I'd say pick it up - you'll be pleased.
-
I get the feeling that you may have the legs on the wrong attachment points. I'm having no problems with the legs on my own AT-TE.
-
That would great, if that's indeed the case. All 6 legs want to pop off quite a bit. I've switched them around quite a bit, but it's still happening. I'll try and take a look at it again... it's in a "sensitive" diorama right now where I just know if I move it about 20 clones are gonna collapse. :-\
-
Each of the legs has labeling on it to indicate where it should be attached. And there are three different size legs. Here's the sizing with the labels:
LARGE LEGS - Mid-section, labeled MR & ML
MEDIUM LEGS - Front, labeled FR & FL
SMALL LEGS - Rear - labeled RR & RL
As for which side is left or right, orient the AT-TE as if you're the driver. The legs on the right side are from front to back - FR, MR & RR. The legs on the left side being FL, ML, RL.
Additionally, the points where the front & rear legs attach can be moved in order to more easily access the attachment points. Pull those away from the hull slightly to get the attachment points completely unobstructed.
-
I'm seeing the same issues with the one I've played with-- the legs pop off if you look at it funny. And it is assembeled as the labels indicate. Perhaps it has to do with the infamous "drop test" requiring certain pieces to snap off given certain levels of stress?
It seems very much designed with movie toys in mind-- or at least the movie blasters seem to fit in the compartments much more easily than the toon ones. I like all the little storage bays and whatnot, but I will say that the feature set seems a little... lacking. Since I've never really seen it in action with characters goofing around inside, I dunno what it is that's "missing" but it would be nice to have <i>slightly</i> bettter clone storage "racks" as it seems difficult to get the toony ones to stand and hold on to the rails easily.
...oh, and the wheels were a nice surprise.
-
It's pretty sad that it takes Hasbro 7 years to finally release another large vehicle and now it has quality issues? I'm kinda pissed to hear about the legs popping off but that would be ten fold if I were a kid. Pretty sure I'd box it back up and tell mom & dad to take it back. Wasn't the Falcon geared towards collectors and the AT-TE moreso for the younger crowd even though it's $100?
I would hope that someone asks Hasbro about this if this is indeeed a problem across the board.
-
I'm kinda pissed to hear about the legs popping off
Wouldn't you have to actually open it up to care about whether or not the legs stay on? :-X
I'm sure the legs will stay in the box quite nice and you'll have no complaints... :P
-
Vehicles have always been the exception to my rule - especially the pricey ones. ;)
-
My first thought was that I didn't have the legs on the correct sides, but the labeling is such between the male and female ends that one can figure out the right/left side of the body.
Based on the number of complaints already, given the number of people who got this before release day, I think this is going to be a major problem for Hasbro. I think we're going to see a lot of complaints in the collecting community and a lot of calls from parents to the point where Hasbro's going to have to issue some kind of statement to deal with the problem.
-
Bought this, and I love it! The pack-in clone got me hooked though, I'm afraid. It's a great figure, and it will be my clone trooper of choice to fill this bad boy up with. :)
-
I'll keep my clone from this, but I'm NOT army building here. It's the only CW fig I have so far and I'm not looking to get many. Ahsoka, Plo, Cody. That's about it for now.
I still have yet to open mine up. I've been busy opening figures, smaller ships. Now I just have the AT-TE and falcon to open. Been saving those for last to enjoy them.
-
Mentioned to people at the Hasbro booth about the legs. They looked and sounded genuinely concerned and said the would monitor response from the boards and customer service. Also mentioned it to Brian at Hasbro and he sounded concerned, but also mentioned that, engineering wise, they designed the legs to fall off under a certain amount of pressure for safety reasons. If they make it too solid, they run the risk of breaking the legs all together. He said that was a tough design from an engineering standpoint.
-
I see the safety concerns, but the AT-AT has never had this problem...it the AT-TE that much bigger?
-
Mine are on and they're fine... ??? I wouldn't put much weight on the AT-TE beyond the designed inteiror stuff.
Here's a possibility for the adventurous... THe little prongs on the gear that goes into the hole may be too close together and need spaced outward just a hair. The fear there is snapping one of the prongs, but it was immediately where my mind went for a "fix" and possible reason the thing isn't going together right for some.
Mine are pretty sturdy though... T hey come off which I dig for "battle damage" looks, but they're not falling off or anything. Snapped in just fine for me, so far. I just built it like an hour or two ago. Very fun, very huge... I'm so beat right now, I can't gush over it like I want, but it's just a great toy from top to bottom. Hasbro knocked this behemoth out. And in person I can't help but think it's to-scale or so close that the difference is pretty negligible (like the difference between 1:18 and 1:20 scales, etc.). It needs some detail work I think, but it's a great piece...
I'm wondering if one were to want to, how easily they could gut the interior/electronics and whatnot, and make an Incredible Cross Sections accurate interior. I'd really like to, but man this thing takes up space. :)
-
I didn't know to put this in this thread or in the Comic Con one, but at Comic Con at the
Titans Magazines booth, if you signed up for a subscription to Star Wars Insider, you were entered
to win a AT-TE!!
And I won!!! ;D
Whats even better, they will ship it to my house, no cost!(I don't live in San Diego)
-
Wow! Congratulations! That's quite a prize. :)

I'm definitely willing to cut them some slack on this.
Of note, two other collectors in my area have experienced the same thing - put the legs in place, pick it up, set it back down gently, and SMACK! A leg or two pops off.
-
I think it's worth the trouble. This thing is so gorgeous, I just can't stay angry with it. :-*
-
Is everyone making sure the legs are "level" with one another too? It can be tricky, and any legs higher than others would effectively redistribute the weight unevenly to the legs on the ground, and put too much strain on them.
Also try not putting the wheels on... I didn't first because it keeps the feet off the ground, but also leaving them off redistributes weight around the diameter of all the feet rather than centered on the "wheels" which could effectively put too much weight on a leg and pop it off.
I've been lucky with mine thus far and hope a 2nd one (when I get it) is just as quality. Love this behemoth.
-
For those who aren't having problems, try deploying the ramp a few times. That's when my problems with the legs really started - the pressure of hitting the button on the body. Just sitting there, I can manipulate the legs to hold everything up. As soon as my kids start to play with it, i.e. pressing buttons, legs start falling off. :'(
-
Time for a stupid question. Have any of you tried to mount your AT-TE climbing a wall as shown in the trailer - which I've heard a few comments on regarding space issues?
If so - I'd love to hear the details and see pics. :)
-
If, and I stress if, I were to do that, I'd probably simply use wall hooks screwed into beams. The legs aren't sturdy enough to hold it up. I press the door deploy button all the time by the way Anton, and it works fine without hurting the legs.
I dunno... I say again, if you're adventurous, try making those hook tabs on the legs stick out a bit farther.
-
Anybody who knows. What is the length measurement for the AT-TE? Just wondering.

You're asking for pics of someone mounting an AT-TE? That is just sick. >:(

I must have picked a "good" one, because my AT-TE withstood the ultimate test this afternoon...
My twin 2-year olds got their first look at my AT-TE and after 15 minutes of pushing buttons, launching missiles, opening doors, and jamming figures in the back hatch, all of the legs were still attached. If it can withstand them, I'm sure the legs on mine are just fine. ;)
-
Bought 2 AT-TE's, put 1 together. The legs do fall off very easily. It's pretty annoying. So I returned the 2nd one because there is enough of us reporting this that I think Hasbro will be correcting this somewhere down the line.
-
I saw that Target had this for sale for $10 cheaper this week, so I was awfully tempted. If I hadn't just dropped so much money on the 26th, I'd be all over it - but I'll have to hold off for now. I still need to re-do the display to figure out where everything is going to fit, and I think I was lucky enough to get the wife's approval on the Falcon, let alone another $100 ship. On a side note, the three places I visited this weekend (Target, Super Target, TRU), all had a few of these in stock (no Falcons though), so they must be continuing to replenish these (or people are waiting right now).
-
I got $12.56 back for my AT-TE from Target with a price adjustment, I did not even have my receipt with me just the CC. I still have not opened my AT-TE yet but seeing for $10 less pissed me off a bit so I wanted to get some cash back. To me anything over $10 is worth it. Target credited me over $20 back in purchases, that another Battle or Evo Pack!
Seeing it for $89 makes it very tempting indeed to buy another as some pointed out. The sale ends 8/9.
-
Per a suggestion, I stuck some tubing in the male connector of the middle leg to make the connector tighter, worked like a charm.
-
Yeah, there's a big thread on how to "fix" this thing at RS.
-

I bought another AT-TE today at Target for $89.99........I could not resist.

Anyone willing to get rid of one of the clones that comes with the At-TE?
-
My hats off to those of you picking up more than one. Due to size, I wouldn't even consider it.
-
I've seen this in stores twice now and it looks damn cool. But I had to pass, I just don't have room for it, I don't know where I'd start to clear space for it. :-\

I had to pack up all my Joes, but it was worth it. :)
....No idea on what to do with the Falcon though.

Anyone willing to get rid of one of the clones that comes with the At-TE?
When I get around to opening one of my Two AT-TE's I will not want the figures. I would trade both to you but I plan on no opening the second one until we get a house. I really need a Darth Malak coin.... ;)

Well keep me in mind ;D
-
I initially had only "fixed" my one problem leg. The result, the other leg wore down and started falling off. I fixed that one too and the whole thing is now as solid as a rock.

Are you talking about the hose trick?
-
Yep.
-
I've seen the At-Te in most ly every Target I've been to, but no commander fox :(
-
Any one want to take a picture of the ATTE beside vehicles such as the BMF and ATAT. I still havent seen one loose and I am wondering what the scale is (numbers dnt help me lol). Although I doubt I will buy this at full price and I patiently waiting for a clearance sale on it. Besdes with how fast the clone wars figures went on sale at TRU i have a feeling they will do the same with the TE to boost sales a bit.

Check out the AT-TE thread at Scum. :-X They have some pretty good comparison pics.
-
thanks ifett, I completly forgot about that otheR Site.
some of the pictures with the clones are just making this thing so much more tempting especially after watching the movie :-\ but I must resist temptation. I just gotta keep telling myself its $100 I can spend on other stuff.

I got mine today, it's big... only downside is that the middle legs keep falling off..... here are some pics:

With a bit of luck and patient. You can easily solve the problem with the AT-TE Falling legs.
The trick? a bit of "Mighty Putty" will do the job!
Not only does it work, it's easy to find and proves more reliable that plastic tubing!
The best part is it lets me move the joints real good so that I can do incredible poses!

I SAW THAT MOVIE TOO!......We seem to be the few that did......

Pretty sweet...nice to see an AT-TE was finally built.

Looks like Hasbro gave the following answer to a few sites this week...
We have confirmed that some of the AT-TE's do have middle legs that breakaway more easily than intended (breakaway legs are a deliberate design feature of the vehicle). We have addressed this and we offer replacement middle legs through our Hasbro Customer Service Dept that should solve the issue. Consumer Affairs can be reached through our web site at hasbro.com. We are sorry for any inconvenience. Our objective is to make sure that consumers are 100% satisfied with their AT-TE, so anyone who is having an issue, please contact us.
It should be interesting to see if folks are able to get new legs and to see if the new legs are actually a better fit... kudos to Hasbro for listening, actually checking things out, and trying to fix the problem for the unhappy folks out there. :)
-
I hope Hasbro is going to be willing to send two sets of legs for those of us who have purchased more than one AT-TE. Granted my second one is still MIB, but if one day I decide to ditch being a packaged collector, you better believe that my second one will be opened up and I'll want to have the fixed replacement legs on hand.
-
I figured that Hasbro would do something like that. Kudos to them.
-
I haven't opened mine yet, but I thought all of the legs fell off ???
-
suprised no one has mentioned this

almost makes me wish I was into the CW stuff, well besides the vehicles.

Note how tightly secured they have the legs to the vehicle? All twist tied up...
-
I got a letter about legs for the AT-TE and they're sending me all six when they get them in... Not just the center legs. I got both an email and regular mail correspondence on it too. Very thorough of them.

How did you contact them, Jesse? I went to Hasbro's Customer Service website, and whenever I try to access the "questions" section on the AT-TE, nothing shows up, and there's no mention of the AT-TE replacement leg deal anywhere on the site (according to the site's dedicated search function).
-
I had problems with that when I went to their site too.
-
There was an email link in the contact 'em area that I used. I can't quite recall the exact steps though, now. :( I know it took a little digging to get one though.
-
Nice deal with the new figures, although I'm glad not to have to worry about getting rid of them.
-
If the legs weren't enough of a concern, I walked into my toy room to find that the top cannon missle from my AT-TE was sitting halfway across the room. When I reinserted it, it fired again (on its own) to almost the exact same spot in the floor. I turned on the AT-TE's electronics to see if the random launching was also going to cause random sounds, and apparently the lights and sounds on the top cannon are DEAD. All the other buttons work fine, but the cannon is now a randomly firing, non-electronic piece of plastic. I'm pretty saddened by this, since it's not something I can just walk into WM and buy another one of off the shelf to replace. :'(
I just emailed Hasbro's customer service about both the leg issue and the now-more-important noiseless cannon issue, so I'm hoping they'll be able to help me out somewhat. :-\
-
I haven't picked one of these up yet. Anyone think I should wait a few months to see if the legs have been fixed by then?
-
Even if you get bum legs, the can be easily fixed with something to wedge in the male end of the connectors. People are using either plastic tubing or smallish screws, so if you want one, get one.
-
Well, as an update of sorts to my previous post, I just got an email back from Hasbro Consumer Affairs, and not only are they not going to send me replacement legs ("the legs are made to intentionally come off"), they're also refusing to send me a replacement cannon, as "cannons are not available separately." They did, however, offer to send me a mailing label so I can send the toy back to them (even though I don't have the box any longer), and they would send me a replacement "or an item of equal value" when they received my item. Given that the first/last/only time I've ever bitten on this, I didn't get the same item I sent in for replacement (I sent a TSC Vader TIE, I got back a ROTS Obi-Wan JSF), I'm definitely not going this route.
Thanks Hasbro (for absolutely nothing)! >:(
-
Wow...That's pretty sucky DP. I may just leave mine in the box and call it a day now that there seems to be more issues other than the stupid legs falling off. I wonder what kind of replacement legs are being sent out to the people they're willing to send to.
-
From Hasbro Consumer Affairs:
Hi Michael,
Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention and I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.
Hasbro designed the Clone Wars AT-TE with the intention to have the legs come apart and snap back together easily. However, if you are unable to use the product as intended, we will send you all six legs. Unfortunately, the legs are not in stock and are currently ordered. The inventory is expected within the next couple of months.
I am confident that by sending replacement legs, you will be able to securely snap into place and this will resolve the issue.
However, if you do not wish to wait for the legs to become available, we can offer a postage paid mailing label to return the product for a $99 refund. Please advise.
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to resolve your concerns and I hope you enjoy your Star Wars.
Yay! :)

Was anyone here lucky enough to score that $60 AT-TE from EE.com?
-
Was anyone here lucky enough to score that $60 AT-TE from EE.com?
No, I just saw that this morning and by the time I went over there it was already sold out. I had somewhat resigned myself to the fact that I likely wouldn't be able to pick this up (budget cutting and all that), but at $60 I think I probably would have ordered one. Oh well, I don't have anywhere for it to go really anyways I guess.
-
Just an FYI - HTS.com has this back in stock (can only assume it's the 'fixed legs' version) for $79.99 with free shipping and batteries if you use the MDCREW coupon.

I got in the mail yesterday Walmart's big toy book. On the first page was the Star Wars toys including the AT-TE, being played with by a little kid. The center legs, in the catalog were not attached! They couldn't even keep the legs on for the photo shoot! Anyone else see this and can post a picture of it?

I did not see the ad, but I did ask Hasbro for a replacement set of middle legs and got them in about a month at no cost. ;)

Wow, that may actually be cooler. Maybe they'll ship you a few exclusive gunships. ;D
-
Actually I'm thinking they mean something worth the value of the legs, which I imagine Hasbro would give me a couple Mutt Williams figures.
-
That's lame.
I can see substituting a broken figure with a figure of similar value but to not 'make it right' with regards to a $100 toy is reprehensible.
-
Hey, if the world's largest retailer can't get one where the legs stay on, what makes you so special? :P
-
That's lame.

Well, at least they didn't try to get you to ship the entire thing back to them and then pull the "item of equal value" trick, like they attempted with me (see the last page for details). I didn't fall for it, but it's sad that they won't even take full responsibility for a flawed toy. How long before they say the problem isn't with the AT-TE or with the legs, but it's that kids are the core audience and kids like toys that have the legs fall off as much as kids love Mutt Williams figures? :P
Thanks, Hasbro! ::)
-
I have the same problem win my AT-TE....
But here is a way to fix the legs, what would cost you is just $4 dollars.

I just picked up some of that clear tubing for $1.69.
Looks like it will work but we shouldn't have to fix it to begin with.

I've heard it works like a charm and only takes a few minutes, but I want me some new sexy legs from Hasbro.
Fort Max calling.......stoooopid drop tests. >:(

has anyone found the coscto exclusive version of the at-te with figues? my costco in greensboro NC didn't have it and it doesn't appear you can find it online either. any news?
-
All I can add is that my buddy called me the one day from Costco to tell me they had a ton of them, but when I went a couple of weeks later, they were nowhere to be seen.
-
Sams Club has AT-TEs for $89.99. This is the same box you would by at TRU or Target just $10 cheaper. Any pictures of this Costco one with included figures?

Thanks to Crunchy Nug for sending us some photos on this. If you head on our to the front page you can see a nice comparison shot of the AT-TE Replacement Leg set that is just now showing up. I've got a set ordered and should probably get a 2nd for my 2nd AT-TE I got on sale.

Head on out and check them out... Good stuff from Hasbro!

So, I suppose I could read through this whole thread but I decided against it. I've got a question for you guys. My mother in law got an AT-TE for my son for one of his Christmas gifts. He got to open it today and he totally loves it. However, when we put the batteries in it, I was quite disappointed. The sounds seem very muffled and I can barely hear them (brand new batteries). Is this common or did I get a defective sound system? The lights seem to work just fine, its just the sounds. We can barely hear them. Thoughts?
-
I think you have a defective one. My AT-TE's sound effects are quite loud.
-

Well, thats good and bad I suppose. Good in that its designed better than I thought. Bad in that I need to return it now, and, of course TRU is sold out. Hopefully they come back in stock after the holidays.
-
Try to even-exchange at WM maybe... They generally take everything back, and they'd get credited for the defective product anyway. Shouldn't need a receipt to do that.
Of course though, if your area is like mine, AT-TE's are long gone... I'm only seeing Falcons this past weekend.
-
My wife found another AT-TE when she was out shopping yesterday. The electronics on this one works like a charm - the voices and sounds are very loud indeed. I'm going to return the defective one now. So far the legs seem reasonably stable as well.
-
I saw yesterday the ones I thought were gone. they have two at clearance section at $64.00.
$36 dollars off... Dont know if to get both... I dont think I will collect much to fit 3 AT's at the time... well they can be use for basic figues as well. hmmm.
What would you do?
-
What would you do?
Buy 1. That's what I did at the $64 price. Figured I have too much extra tubing left from my first one so this was a cost saving measure for me. :D

Anybody have the URL for the leg swap?

I was sort of waiting for our tax refund to hopefully, finally pick one of these up since they were still in stock at HTS. Well, of course our return is due this week, and I see now it has sold out at HTS (and other online sources) and has been removed from their site as well. Does anyone know if these are going to continue to ship (to online I guess, as its not likely at retail now)? I guess its not the end of the world if I'm not able to get one, I could keep the $100 - but I was just curious. Maybe this is a sign that I should have stuck to my original plan of sticking to only OT vehicles for budget/display reasons. It just seems like there is so much neat stuff from the PT/CW era on the way in the various price assortments this year.
-
Brian, both the AT-TE and Millennium Falcon are open stock items meaning that any store can re-order at anytime. Wal-Mart/Target may have clearanced them out, but apparently TRU is still ordering them.
At Toy Fair, Hasbro said that you will most likely see both the AT-TE and the BMF back at retail in the new Red/White style packaging (I know TRU was mentioned as ordering the repackaged versions for sure).
-
Thanks Jeff, good to hear. I'm still a little bit on the fence until I'm able to rearrange/re-do the collection room to see what kind of space I have, but hopefully I'm able to grab one at some point. I was just hoping I could do it this spring, so I could start saving for the Turbo Tank in the fall.

sweet! I passed on it in the begging and am still kicking myself for that. now, I can't find them anywhere...but still a bunch of BMFs...wtf?
-
These items were released nearly a year ago - in case you had not noticed, Walmart and Target no longer have them in their planograms. I don't think that TRU does either - the AT-TE simply sold through and was very popular (not to mention $50 less than the Falcon).
The Falcon sold through in most areas as well, but can be found on clearance in some areas still. However, TRU still has shelf space for it at full price.
That's why you don't see AT-TE's at retail anymore. It's actually really simple.
-
That was kind of a short window, what six months on these? I'm glad I got my two when I did, but this thing will have to retail for more than $100 if/when it comes back out - not to mention if it's a TRU exclusive.
-
Yeah, you'd think that something that requires this much tooling and design work would be available all of the time. I can't believe it dissapeared. I did, however, see a BMF tonight at TRU.
-
It made it's money, that's all that matters to Hasbro. Next time it get re-release, as long as it sells a certain percent of it's run, it'll all be gravy.
-
I think a re-pack w/ green highlights will come next.
-
Has anyone seen the Costco repack version at retail? I have only seen one on Ebay and it was a seller in Canada.
-
I never saw it at the Costco I go to or the one next to my work.
-
A friend call me from Costco asking if I wanted one. Never saw one there myself.
-
Found these back on the shelves at TRU.
-
New packaging, Anton?
-
I've seen these at two TRUs, both with old packaging. I imagine the packages for this and the BMF won't change as it seems cheaper to keep the same boxes.
-
Yeah, I've seen both the BMF and AT-TE back on the shelves at the local TRU. The packaging was the same as before.
-
Yep, old packaging.
-
Is TRU gearing up for the holidays then? I assume we're not going to see case assortments with the AT-TE & TT at WM and Target then? Not that I care, but would be nice to know.
Still haven't found time to apply tubing to the legs on my loose AT-TE, but it's fine as long as I don't fiddle with it.
-
I'm pretty sure the packaging are different sizes, so them being in the same case seems unlikely.
-
I read on a website (don't have the link, sorry) that TRU will be running a Christmas in July sale, and the AT-TE will be one of the advertised items. The sale takes place not this week but next, and the AT-TE will be 50% off at all TRU stores. If I find the link again, I'll post it here.
-
Here's the link (http://www.toys.com/2009/07/toysrus-offers-christmas-in-july.html).
Christmas in July deals available in Toys“R”Us stores nationwide and online at Toysrus.com from Sunday, July 19 through Saturday, July 25 include:
50% OFF Star Wars™ Clone Wars Republic AT-TE – Was: $99.99; Now: $49.99
-
I noticed that TRU.com already has this marked down to $49.99 this morning. Not a bad deal at all.
-

Couldn't make it out to the stores this morning so I ordered one on-line. Can't beat that price. I plan on giving it to my kids at Christmas, so it's only appropriate that it was the Christmas in July sale.
-
I bought two of those this weekend. Great price for this. I originally thought I wanted 5, but determined 4 would suffice for my needs. I already had 2 prior to this purchase, so now I'm up to my wanted amount.
I'm going to use 2 for my Geonosis diorama, 1 for Utapau and 1 for Coruscant or maybe Felucia.
-
$49.99 is really a great price for this sucker. I was tempted to pick up a few more, but I'm good with two.
-
I finally broke down and bought one as well. I couldn't really budget it in at the $100 price it seems (alongside the Falcon last year), but always thought "if I find it on clearance, I'll consider it" - for $50, I ordered one online as well. Our local stores don't have any of these in stock, otherwise I would have grabbed it locally. I was actually sort of surprised to see these still in stock at TRU.com this morning, with the $50 price. I figured they would be sold out instantly, but maybe people have already picked up their fill a year later.

From the video game right?
This is what CostCo should have released as their exclusive last year, a slightly re-tooled version worth the attention of collectors.
Let's hope they get it right with the Turbo Tank this year...NO RE-PACK!
-
I wouldn't count on Cost Co or bulk retail "clubs" like that to get anything that is newly tooled... First I think Hasbro knows it would annoy some, but second they generally do get and sell their items on somewhat of a lower price scale/discount. "New tooling" usually doesn't jive with that. The big club stores tend to also get less product in it seems, though that's the case with many exclusives in general. But still that's also a third strike against "new tooling".
Maybe a repaint... But new tooling usually comes at a fair cost too.

VEry good points, you are almost certainly right about this. I am just hoping against hope. CostCo's AT-TE re-packaged release last year is still the only CW toy I have never been able to find. I'm not really sure I even want it, but it sort of bugs me knowing it's out there, even if all the xtra figs were straight repacks.
I'm definitely going to be combing the aisles for their exclusive this year though. Just to decide with it in my hands...
-
This is of course super-late to the AT-TE "party", but I finally got a chance to open this up and put it together this week - and it really is spiffy. I couldn't afford to get it last year, but finally bit the bullet when it was on sale for $50 at TRU earlier this year. I've been re-arranging the office/collection room, so finally got around to opening it up, and I'm glad I ended up getting this. I haven't had any issues with the legs (at least not yet), and it really is not only a nice collectible, but a fun toy too. Very cool. I am usually more interested in the OT vehicles, but this really is nicely done.
-
I haven't had any issues with the legs (at least not yet)
I didn't have any issues until the second or third week - legs just started falling off due to the body's own weight. Perhaps they fixed that with the latter releases? Tubing worked great.
-
The AT-TE is 50% off tomorrow and Sat at TRU.
-

I've seen it routinely marked down by 50% at the Toys R Us Holiday Express outlets.
-
I'm debating whether or not to finally break down on this one. I've got some Clone Cash yet, so I'm tempted...

LOL, you just know 10 years from now someone is going to be selling AT-TE's on eBay listed as "Rare, unfixed leg variant!" and charge an exorbitant price to some poor geek.
-

I finally broke and picked one of these up not long ago on clearance and I haven't regretted it. It's a great vehicle. If you've got the extra cash and the space I'd say it's well worth it.

AT-TE $14.99 (http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3096350) at TRU.com. Get 'em while they're hot!
-
Holy crap!
-
I ordered one, will see if they honor it. :)
-
Killer price...Too bad I don't need another one.
-
I ordered one too. We'll see what happens...
-
Limit 10 per customer. (no lie!)
I don't even need another one but would buy it for that price just for the heck of it. That's amazing!
-
I was just putting my card number, when all a sudden it when back to 49.99. I canceled but I am angry that one minute its $15 then its back to $50. This happens to me all the time. I wondering if this happen to some one else ??? >:( >:( >:(
-
Damn! I could have had an army of AT-TEs! ;D
-
I'm going to bet they claim computer glitch and retract the orders with the low price. Not that $50 is bad though either... I may actually order another one at that, but yeah the other price was too good to be true. Usually when they get into loss territories they retract stuff, so I'll be shocked if they don't.
Good luck getting it at the low price though guys.
-
You can get the AT-TE at TRU's Holiday Express stores for $50 right now. No shipping involved. I knew that the $15 price tag was WAY too good to be true.

Does anyone know where I can find a list of TRU Express locations? It's nowhere to be found on their website that I can see.
I initially assumed they would be found in any mall locations formerly occupied by KayBee or KB or whatever that old toy store was that they absorbed, but this is not the case here in Richmond.

That's what I'm expecting too, but I did receive an order confirmation. I guess the only thing to do is wait and see.
-
Maybe is to be a black friday thing. It just someone must have put it in too early.
-
I would have gotten another at $15. Wow. Hope they honor it for those who made it in.
-
Well, I got a shipping confirmation, with a delivery date of Monday! I checked the tracking number and it is on it's way, with a package weight of 11 lbs. I guess this is for real!
-
Way to go, glad you got it! :)
-
Thanks! It'll be my second AT-TE, so I plan on keeping it boxed until I have more room. Now I just need to track down a couple AT-STs, and my vehicle gland will be officially tickled!
-

Congrats! Great deal on this beast. I remember scoring 3-4 extra Saga Gunships off Kbtoys.com back in the day for $9 a pop and thought that was a groovy deal.

Man, that is a great deal! The Gunship is one of my favorite prequel vehicles, if not SW vehicles.
-
Still waiting for my shipping confirmation, but that's good news. With all the love the drop ship is getting in the cartoon, I'd love to see that from Hasbro. I don't know if we'll see another big ship, with the way the Turbo Tank is doing, but if we do, I think it would be a great compliment to the AT-TE.
-
Got my shipping confirmation this morning 8)
-
holy crap! grats2u that got this for $15!
I had a similar instance when TRU had a 2 for $10 fig sale on Terminator Salvation figs. They had the Terminator plane thingy included in the sale so I jumped on that deal.
-
Got home from NY today and my $15 AT-TE was waiting on the doorstep. ;D
-
Picked up one of these bad boys at TJ Maxx for $50. Not as good as $15, but I'll take it. Now to find a place to put this thing...
-
I think Santa got me a TJ Maxx one for X-Mas. :-X That's 3 I don't have space for.
-
picked up my 3rd AT-TE today in the Christmas sales on sale for 80$ Australian the cheapest Ive seen hence why i have 3 now
And all this talk of 15 US dollars each makes me sick.
no offence.
especially when recommended retail price here is $199.00Au
and i thought i was getting a great deal.
-
The $15's were I think less common than the thread maybe implies. ;) $50 US is still considered a great deal by most. I'm equally envious of the $15 deal folks too but good for them. I got one half off and I'm ecstatic though at that.
-

Yeah, I agree. I wasn't able to get one originally last year, but grabbed one during one of the $50 sales at TRU this year and I'm really happy that I did. Like it has been mentioned, it is worth every penny of that price (actually probably more), and it really feels like you're getting a nice solid toy for $50. I'm wondering if we'll see the same sort of sale on the Turbo Tank throughout 2010, although I'm not nearly as interested in that one as I was the AT-TE.
-
Yeah, I never sniffed a $15 AT-TE. The lowest I have ever seen has been the standard $49.99.
-
I bought one for the original price. Then a couple of months later got one for $50. Then when TRU first started the $50 sale back around the summer I think, I bought 2 more.
I had originally wanted 4-5 of these, so I've pretty much fulfilled my wishes.
