TVC figures marked down to $4 at WalMart stores in my neck of the woods.  And $4.99 at TRU stores.  Amazingly enough I managed to score a red bandana Kithaba at the TRU clearance price!

Middle Earth / Re: Lord of the Rings Figures

I found a fairly decent archive of Toy Biz Lord of the Rings figures.  I think some of the better FOTR figures were the ones that were offered on the later smaller cards.

The Fellowship 9-pack has always been one of my favorite pieces in the line since it had all of the characters AND the likenesses were pretty good.  But I also really liked the Frodo & Sam 2-pack with the Elven boat.

Hmmm.  Primary antagonist?  Given the storyline of DOFP, I would think that Dinklage might be voice acting.  The Sentinels are the primary antagonists in the future part of that story.  Is it possible that they might introduce a character like Master Mold as the guiding force of the Sentinels in the future?

***EDIT - According to THIS ARTICLE, Dinklage is likely to be playing Bolivar Trask, the scientist who invented the Sentinels.

The story definitely becomes more complicated with how the movie storyline has dealt with Cyclops, Jean Grey, et al.

BTW, Qui-Gon Jim...love the Puck idea!

The Bullpen / Re: Iron Man 3 Toys

Saw the 6" Iron Patriot today.  It looked alright.  But this back and forth with Hasbro and Iron Man on which scale they actually give a crap about is troubling.  The first Iron Man movie line was about 6" figures.  And then the Iron Man 2 line focused largely on 3.75" figures but added on some 6" figures as exclusives.  Now with Iron Man 3, it seems that the better offerings are in the 6" scale.  From a collector standpoint, this is really becoming annoying.

JD Sports Forum! / Re: NHL 2013

Read a little bit about the possible realignment that might be in the works for the NHL.  There's a proposal on the table for the league to be split into 4 divisions, similar to the NFL.  And it may just benefit Winnipeg, too, since they have a pretty grueling travel schedule with the current conference/division structure.

There's also a good deal of talk about what's going to happen with the Coyotes.  The cities that seem to be in contention for the relocation of the failing Phoenix team are Quebec City, Seattle, or possibly Toronto.  The Toronto market seems to be the one city in Canada that could truly support a second team.

The Vintage Collection / Re: Amazon Vintage TIE Interceptor

I wonder if it's not the price point?  It'd be a fair size toy and big ticket stuff seems really shakey now.

It's probably that combined with the size of the box for the full sized TIE.  Even that Target exclusive version from the TLC RED line was really big, and Hasbro had managed to scale the box down somewhat.  Even then, that box takes up a good deal of shelf space, and that costs money.

Hey Hasbro! / Re: Han Solo
« on: February 12, 2013, 12:50 PM »

The carbonite block is getting some love in 2013 (6" SDCC exclusive, 3.75" pack-in with the Amazon Slave I), but you can't somehow squeeze a new "I'm about to get frozen" Carbonite Han Solo figure into the Black Series 3.75" line to go along with the Amazon set?

+1

How about a real Yavin Ceremony Han Solo, too.

+1 to this as well

And might I add....

How about offering up a VC50 - Han Solo (Bespin Outfit) kitbash as a Mynock Hunt version?  We all know that this particular figure spent far too little time gracing the pegs.  So how about one with the oxygen mask and a pack-in Mynock?  How about it Hasbro?!?!

The Black Series 6" Figures / Re: 6 Inch Figures?

$10 would definitely be an attractive price point.  But look at the pricing on other Hasbro 6" figure lines.  Since Hasbro picked up Marvel Legends the price point on those figures has been creeping upward.  $20 seems to be about as high as collectors in this scale seem prepared to go.  Unless, of course, they get something special.

Saga Legends / Re: Saga Legends "Mission Series" Figure 2-Packs

The Vader set with the Seeker Droid looks okay.  As for the others?  The Jango sculpt actually looks pretty decent.  And I'd like to see more of the droids.  Otherwise, I'll just wait until I see these in stores.

Almost this entire line is a pass for me.  The only thing that looked semi-promising is the Yoda.  But I think that version is also included with the upcoming Republic Gunship exclusive.

The thing is.... I've been passing on Saga Legends or Movie Heroes or whatever else you want to call it for YEARS.  And I don't feel bad at all for continuing to do so.

It's supposed to be Yoda's Gunship from Attack Of The Clones.

Kubricks / Re: Where is everyone?
« on: February 11, 2013, 08:16 AM »
Stopped by Toy Tokyo in NYC last night, and was drawn in to buy another couple of Kubes.  Nothing crazy, though!  So I scored a Tarfful and Darth Sidious.  But I fully recognize just how dangerous that shop can be for a hardcore Kubrick collector!

I got together with the folks from SWAN today.  And their impressions from Toy Fair were very similar to my own.  They had some additional notes.  Most noteworthy is that word has come down from Hasbro corporate to ALL the licensed groups:  CUT COSTS & REDUCE YOUR NUMBER OF SKU'S.  With that kind of corporate edict you can completely understand the current state of the Star Wars license and why they will not offer a new large vehicle in 2013.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: The Future of the Clone Wars Toy Line?
« on: February 10, 2013, 09:09 PM »
The future is realistic style figures in The Black Series.  They already did 3 x realistic Clone Wars characters in The Vintage Collection.  And there were realistic CW Mace Windu & Captain Rex figures planned for the Legacy Collection before it was revamped as The Black Series.  Seeing how Hasbro already revealed those characters this past summer, they're likely to be offered in some way, shape or form in The Black Series.  Not Saga Legends.

The Black Series 6" Figures / Re: 6" Scale Vehicles, A Fool's Dream?

Speeder bikes seem like the most reasonable possibility for this line.  I could easily see Hasbro do Maul's speeder bike from TPM.  Especially since they already did one in the 12" scale.
