Last but not least (that's Death Star Droid) of the original Star Wars figures is the Power Droid

This one to me is not done.  Yeah they have made a Gonk Droid as seen on the Sandcrawler but the vintage figure is either based on the Lars Family Droid or the Mos Eisley Power Droid...they need to make a new blue one...pronto!

I've always liked the commtech Gonk, but I've got all mine rubber-banded together at the ankles to keep their legs in a central position so the damn thing stands on its own.  Interesting feature to make its legs walk, but it sucks as a toy then to me.

I'd like to see them update the legs to a poseable leg system (I think the body is fine), and I agree that they should do a vintage blue deco one then to really consider this figure "done".  To me it's no different than the DSCommander or a Hoth Rebel in a brown vested uniform.  They have to be done to the figure/character they're based on to be "done".

I have a ton of the CT figure though, and they make good background filler.  I have a number of the repaint too, for the Hoth Gonk droid.  I like it even more because it has a customizability to it with the top ports.  I have one with 2 of the small black ports, one with a large orange port and small black port, one with neither port...  It's a more fun figure in that respect.

If they'd fix the legs, I'd be dandy with its final sculpt.  If they'd give us a blue one, I'd be really dandy with yet another vintage figure knocked out by Hasbro.

I really liked that Hoth version with the "cap" from a few years back.  Yeah, I would take a blue version for sure.

I HOPE THE NEW BLUE VERSION WOULD DEPICT THE ANTENNA

vIntage power droid seems heavier than comtech version

both version cool, so is the hoth  version from TSC.

Is this the shot you were talking about? (http://worldfamousdesignjunkies.com/bits/rare-star-wars-photos/attachment/n792155172_5653617_8175-2/) Because no Power Droid thread is complete without it.

Wow, where exactly was that at in the movie even?  It has 1930's/1940's style headlights. ;D

I'd buy it...  That's a bit more than a blue paintjob though, in differences.

Now him I've seen, and I love that deco...  He's not sporting the spiffy spotlight/headlights, but still quite cool.  I'd really love to see them have a go at some of these power droids...  Plus the "Plonk" one from Clone Wars  :-X.  Something so cool about the simplicity of the design of these that I've always loved them, and would gladly buy more.  They're almost as cool as astromechs to me really.

Excellent - I remembered the scene, but didn't know if more detailed photos existed. I say we call for a Beru/Power Droid resculpt 2-pack.

Just found another one:

I never had the vintage version as a kid, but found it a little boring back then.  Like others, I do like the commtech one pretty well (the leg "feature" is sort of a pain to get them to stand though), but I'd like to see a new/redeco of the vintagey blue one as well.

I think we've found the thing to push Hasbro on now that they did ICMG.  :-X

Said before and I'll say it again, LOVE these topics.  The Power Droid was easily the biggest "WTF?" figure in the line.

As a kid, I totally remember looking at the back of the card (the way we received our new figure info back then) and seeing this guy for the first time.  I literally had no idea what to make of him.  Was it a figure, a piece of furniture, was it a misprint, just...what?

As it stands, it will always have that charm associated with it.

I would LOVE, and think we will eventually get, a "Lars Pit" repaint or redo of this guy.  While I really like the Power Droid/Jawa pack in, it's still isn't the WTF Droid I know and love.

Keep these topics coming, and now it's on to Fett - which should be VERY interesting.

:)
