That's the Yoda I was talking about....thanks JediMAC!

I'd like the plant guy too.

Unfortunately, I can't find any pics online of these, but I'd like to see concept figures of:

-Yoda (the one who's really wrinkly and has upright pointy ears, not the little blue Santa Claus looking one)

-Bib Fortuna (in The Art of ROTJ, there's one of him with this blue top hat,  he looks kinda creepy)

-Sith Witch (there's 2 types I've seen in the "Art of" books: the one in the flowing red robe with the white face and black racoon eyes, which has been made into a minature, and the other has bluish skin with red braids, that's the one I'd really like. She's pretty demonic looking).

I know these are a long shot, and we'll probably just get the main character concepts, but they'd look cool. If anyone can post pics of the ones I tried to describe, I'd appreciate it!

Yep, I just got the email confirm that I'm being charged. I really wish we could get SWshop exclusives without the case (and maybe in turn lowering the price to $10 TOPS) because I plan on opening mine. Come on Hasbro/SWshop, make the cases optional!

Here's some clones- everyone does them, I'm no different.

I made these guys during the winter, and now it looks like they're actually making the lime green and blue stripe ones, but that's cool. The black one is actually a metallic black, it looks nicer in person.

Commander Neyo

This was a quick draw clone with a resculpted helmet and bandolier. I need to get a better pic of his helmet, it looks messed up here.

V-Wing Pilot and Oddball

The V-Wing Pilot is a repainted Clone Pilot with a resculpted helmet. Oddball is slightly repainted to have a more movie accurate helmet, which unfortunately you can't see in the pic.

More to come!

Your customs are awesome! I really like your use of drybrushing and washes. I especially like the Aqualish Peasant, the "real hair" whiskers came out great. I've tried working with small hair details in the past and it would just come out messy. Yours looks professional ;D

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: U-shaped bar from Cantina

That's cool that they're finally making this piece, as to when it will actually show up.....I'm not holding my breath.
As for who'll be packed with it: I'm HOPING for Brainiac, Trinto Duaba (The Terminal Man guy), and Bom Vindim, but WE'LL PROBABLY GET Luke Tattooine, Hammerhead, and Wuher, again.

I do seem to recall a collective groan rising from the crowd at the Comic Con Q&A on Friday upon hearing the news that this wave is exclusive to WalMart.  Target would have been a much better venue for these, but it seems as though Hasbro wants to throw WalMart a bone.  It seems that staying in WalMart's good graces is a big concern for any company that wants shelf space in their stores.  Unfortunately though, it seems that Star Wars shelf space has been diminishing at Wally World.  Ugghhh.

Although I wasn't at the comic con, I'm groaning too. I like all these figures, even if they are just repaints. I love the cantina and there can never be too many aliens! However, I can't stand store exclusives. Online exclusives, I don't mind....but to have to go to the store over and over waiting for them to show up just sucks. To make this worse, these have to be a Wal-Mart exclusive. Of all of the places, they're THE WORST when it comes to exclusives (well, any figures for that matter). The 2 that are closest to me are both the 24 hr. kind, so guys are there all times of the day and night waiting for the stuff to be put out. I'm sorry, I have a life to lead and can't do that! I've never seen the Twins, the CW Animated 3 packs, or any of the new Marvel Legends exclusives. I don't know if its poor distribution, horrible workers, or me just not being there at the right moment to get them. Target is not as bad since they'll always go in the back and get it for you if you plug in the DCPI and it shows them in stock. K-Mart is usually dead, so I've never had a problem finding anything there. Oh well, I might have to pick these up on eBay ::)

(edit: I just changed the name back to Wal-Mart is all-JJ)

Here's some customs from The Clone Wars:

Roron Corobb

Here's my take on this guy- he's a POTF2 Hammerhead with sleeves and pants made from milliput. I painted him a slightly darker color brown too. The saber handle is made from the muzzle of Takeel's rifle, with a misc. blue blade. I tried to make him in a style that was a cross between realistic and animated. I'm pretty happy with the way he came out, he's one of my favorites.

Sha'a Gi

I loved this guy the second I saw him. The high strung stoner of The Clone Wars is made from a Nikto Jedi body, a Luke (w/ T16) head, a small piece of plastic coated wire for  a padawan braid, and someone's green saber. If you laid off the funny stuff, you'd still be alive today, young Jedi! See, kids? Drugs are bad.

Capt. Fordo

This guy was in a few episodes of CW, earlier on he had a standard looking Clone Commander outfit, but in the 3rd season he had this helmet with the cool eyes on it.  The best part is when he's getting overwhelmed by Battle Droids and he throws his rifle at them. He's a repainted #41 Clone Trooper, with a Com. Bacara shoulder pauldron, AT-RT Driver's oversized rifle, and Lak Sivrak's pistol.

Lemme know what you think!

Wow. Those things are dumb. That's pretty much what came to mind when I saw them posted the other day. I put these in the same boat as those ridiculous "Suckadelic" figures. Maybe I just don't get it.

However...you know SOMEONE will buy these, probably on the "Star Wars" connection alone. My question is: how did they get this far in the product development (AND presentation at the SDCC, no less) without LFL squashing the obvious copyright/likeness infringment? Or, are these things different just enough that they can be sold? I'm thinking its a case like those spoof SW meanie baby things from a few years ago. Oh well, its no money out of my wallet!

Here's some pics of various Imperials:

Ep. 3 Tarkin (better color scheme)

Simple repaint, just made his uniform a darker gray.

Imperial Commanders

These are just head swaps at the moment, I might go back and repaint their uniforms. The one on the left is Capt. Antilles, the one on the right is Ric Olie. They make good background scene filler.

Death Squad Commander (vintage color scheme)

This guy I'm not completely happy with. The helmet is hand sculpted, if I could I would have cast the Hasbro one. He was made from a bunch of leftovers- AT-AT Commander's lower body, EU Cloud Car Pilot torso and arms, and an old GI Joe head (Flash?). I might redo the helmet.

Chief Bast

This is another one that I might redo.....the head is from an old Adventure People figure, I originally made it for a vintage version of this character. I had it laying around my custom box and decided to hollow it out and pop it on a TSC Veers.  I swapped out the hands for a 21 Century WW2 Soldier.

Lemme know what you all think, thanks!

Yep, $375 for a whole bunch of Jabba here also. I have no idea where I'm going to put it, of course...but at least I have 5 months+ to put the cash aside for it all.  Sideshow is making me BROKE!! I don't mind that much though, since I passed on 95% of the Hasbro 12 inch stuff. I'm happier getting more realistic/better quality figures, even if I have to pay more.
I have a worry also about the prices going up once more collectors get into the line. So far I've bought (or pre-ordered) all of the exclusive versions, but I think after Jabba I might get more selective. I don't know if I can be a completionist on their 12 in. lines. I'm already thinking about trading or selling the Luke Jedi, I really don't like the head sculpt on him. I thought it would look better in person, but he's just too doofy looking. I wish they went with a more neutral expression.

True, the fun IS in making your own figures. That SA Bacara sounds cool, I'd love to see it when you're done.
I also made a Galactic Marine last year when the list of '06 figures surfaced and he was nowhere to be found on it. Then I find out he's coming out next year....oh well, I'll just stick him in with the Hasbro version, I hope to get 4 or 5 and have a little Death of Ki Adi Mundi diorama.
Here he is, btw:

He's made from a Saga Snowtrooper (head and backpack) and a Com. Bacara body. I added some sculpey for the boots.
Anyone have any comparison shots of their own customs vs. the Hasbro versions?

:o DAMN......that Imperial Armored Collum is AMAZING.....lots of good pics of some killer customs. I love how you've mixed parts from many different lines to create some really original yet SW-believable vehicles.
That Baron Fel looks really good too. I've just got back into reading the comics, I have to track down his appearances. Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the compliments, guys.

IncomT65- Yep, Wulf is one of those background Imperials on the 1st Death Star. I always liked the way he looked, he really stood out with that white tunic and mustache.

Chewie- The vintage style Yak was actually the first "modern" custom I did after getting back in customizing. I figured I'd start off simple by doing a repaint.

Actually, I have some questions for everyone:

How do you feel when you spend the time/effort/money/blood on a custom, only to have Hasbro make it themselves? I personally hate when that happens, that's why I've tried to stick to obscure characters, more realistic repaints, and original creations. Granted, I've seen some custom figures that put Hasbro's to shame, but does it bug you? And, do you just keep your own figure or buy the "real" one? Lemme know!

Here's a bunch of customs from ANH:

Col.Wulf Yularen

He's been done alot, I know....but it was a quick and easy custom for a background character. Bascially a repainted POTF2 Tarkin with some sculpey hair and 'stache.

RA-7 (Sandcrawler Droid)

I was unhappy with the paint scheme Hasbro gave the Sandcrawler pack-in. It seemed too flat and not silver enough. Looking at the pics in the Visual Dictionary, I noticed he had a bit of silver/chrome on him, but was really worn out. I wound up doing a few washes of silver paint over him, then a wash of black to fill in the cracks and lines. He looks alot better than in these pics, actually...the light from the flash kinda washed him out.

Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru, victims of Imperial Interrogation

As gruesome as it is, I've been waiting to do these for a long time. When Palisades did their Army of Darkness line, these former Deadites were screaming to become crispy Owen and Beru. I stripped them of their gear and repainted them in more realistic burnt flesh colors.

Commander Evram Lajaie- Yavin 4 Rebel Base

Another easy custom background character. He's made from a slightly repainted Jan Dodonna body with a ROTS Tarkin head and ROTS Mon Mothma neckpost.

Lemme know what you think! Thanks,
Mike
