I know we're all scratching our heads as to if Solo will still come out in May of this year or get pushed out, but assuming that it is coming out in May, when do you think we would find this out and see a trailer?
I get the thought that they want to let TLJ have some room to run on its own without confusing viewers with another pending option, but at some point they'll need to start promoting this movie.
Its hard for me to believe they could wait until after mid-February to start promoting this, but I'm no Hollywood expert.
Thoughts?

I just wanted to say I'm annoyed with all the Lego leak pictures on site's front pages.
-
I just read today that the latest rumor is that the trailer will debut this Friday on Good Morning America. Personally I'm looking forward to seeing a look at this. Still not sure how it will be seeing someone other than Harrison Ford in the role, but I've always wanted to see "further adventures" of Han and Chewie.

When I went to see TLJ last month, the lobby poster spot that *had* been TLJ's was now occupied by the teaser poster for "Solo" and said May 25th 2018 on it. I took it as confirmed by that.

No trailer.
Deadpool moved up to the weekend before Solo.
They are sooo gonna push back Solo's release.

Love the "teaser posters" posted on SW.com (http://www.starwars.com/films/solo-a-star-wars-story-teaser-poster-gallery). I hope they make these available for sale at some point.

The posters are great. Nice old school vibe.

Some character names have been added to the IMDB page for Solo. And there are now names for the characters played by Woody Harrelson (Tobias Beckett), Thandie Newton (Val) and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (L3-37). There’s no name for Paul Bettany’s character yet.

From the EW article (http://ew.com/movies/2018/02/07/solo-star-wars-story-ew-cover/):
"The wannabe smuggler will also face career crooks Tobias Beckett (Woody Harrelson), blaster-toting Val (Thandie Newton), and crime boss Dryden Vos (played by Paul Bettany)."
Cue the "Quinlon Vos" rumors in 3...2...1... :D

Initial reactions from people who attended last night's premier seem to be very positive. Although now I am EXTREMELY wary of possible spoilers.

Don’t watch the newest clips making the rounds then. 😶

I am getting more and more excited about Donald Glover as Lando. This is gonna be fun
-
I’m looking forward to seeing this. Also, I’m letting up on my only wanting to see a Han Solo portrayed by Harrison Ford.
We didn’t see a whole lot complaints of an Indiana Jones portrayed by Sean Patrick Flannery.

I've definitely seen some elements of ANH Han Solo in some of the clips of Alden Ehrenreich in SOLO. And I'm definitely liking what I've seen of Donald Glover as Lando. I think he gets the character. And the fact that they turned Lando's pronunciation of "Han" into a story thing is pretty cool on it's own.

Is it really possible for 10,000+ IMDb raters to have seen "Solo" already?

I'm too lazy to research the release dates, but I assume if Europe follows the US methodology of releasing today at 7PM they've had two-ish showings per screen by now. Seems high, but who knows.

Saw it last night. Went in with an open mind as I was very skeptical of this movie. I was thoroghly entertained. My 14 year old said it was one of his favorite SW movies (I wouldn't go that far). I thought that Donald Glover nailed it as Lando. He was by far my favorite character.

I grabbed the Solo Blu Ray today, the Target exclusive version with a 40 page book. I probably won't get around to watching it for a while, but I should to see if my thoughts on it have changed.
-
I picked it up at Best Buy yesterday. The kids were waiting for me to get home from work so they could watch it!
I have to admit, I like this movie way more than I thought I would....Ron Howard did a great job pulling this together.
-
I picked it up on DVD today and I watched it a couple of more times on long flights the other day. I think I've seen it four times and still think its an enjoyable watch.
Anybody watch the extras to see if there are interesting scenes that got cut, interesting commentary, or outtakes from the first set of directors that show the difference in style?
-
I got the Target version of the movie. I've watched it a couple of times, and it definitely holds up well to multiple viewings.
The extras are great. I really liked 'Kasdan on Kasdan' as well as the Directors Roundtable with the cast. It's pretty cool to see the cast talk about making the movie with one another while sitting around the Sabacc table from the Lodge. The Chewbacca featurette was pretty awesome, too. Seeing Chewie exercise some serious Wookiee physicality at long last was great to see. Joonas Suotomo really seems to get the character. And knowing that there was actual translated dialogue written for Chewie in order for Han to play off of it was a bit of attention to detail that I appreciated.
The deleted scenes were interesting, but I understood why they got cut. The foot chase on Corellia didn't really advance the story during that sequence. As for Han's flight infraction and tribunal? I liked that bit, but it seemed like it might have made the first act drag a little bit. Too bad, because Tag and Bink were in the Tribunal scene!

Solo - A Star Wars Story got an Oscar nomination (https://variety.com/2019/film/news/oscar-nominations-2019-list-1203112405/)! The movie was nominated in the Visual Effects category.
Also, check out this ABC News behind the scenes look (https://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/making-killing-solo-star-wars-story-space-monster/story?id=58189432) at how the team at ILM realized the Summa-Verminoth space creature that the Millennium Falcon encountered during the Kessel Run.

Typical nomination for a Star Wars film. It should win easily on the Kessel Run sequence.
