Clone Wars '03-'05 / Re: RED ARC Trooper?

Heheh, I like those raving, silly thread.

I found Red Arcs at the time - picked one up and left the rest on the peg, knowing they'd multiply like all of the regular Arcs.  ::)

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Greivous' Cough?
« on: June 2, 2005, 07:53 AM »
actually, the important cut scene with grevious is with him lighting a big stogie...this is the reason for his cough....but they filmed him smoking the whole thing and couldn't afford to waste 40 minutes on a side plot character smoking....it slowed down the pace of the movie.

Maybe George was thinking of the all important India market:

So Ezboards is in no way affiliated with Proboards, right? Proboards just happens to be doing upgrades at the moment.

Simple news article: http://www.halifaxlive.com/artman/publish/ezboard_010605_7762.shtml

Gosh, I wonder how bad it was?  Could you notice any change to the Simpson board?

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: ROTS Easter Eggs

Yes, that's the one. I was pointing out I was glad it WASN'T exsqueeze me. Or poodoo.

It was to someone else though, someone said "Watch it", and then Jar jar had his big line.

I was going to add that Jar-jar does indeed have a line, and I can see that its pointed out on the starwars.com easter egg page. At least it wasn't "exsqueeze me".

Ah, Jeff pointed out these are Col. 2 (which I didn't stop to think about), but anyway here's the confirmation of the Tarkin wave shipping to Wal-Mart.

Apparently it was not painted red either.  The SW Insider has it painted a blue color.  I did not check to see what color it was in the movie though.
I was blue

Bummed about it too, eh?  :P

Those are some interesting differences Jesse James, and I think I can buy Nicklab's explanation. Actually I would prefer that one because it much more interesting to me to see the evolution of all the ships and designs which occurred in the SW universe. Making it an early Tantive model which later changed is kinda cool. I prefer that because I tire of the tendency Lucas has to make so many details connected directly to the OT.  Greedo, Chewie, other shots of cantina aliens I didn't need. (Ok, I like seeing Chewie, but I didn't need it).

I'm glad they had several interior shots of the Tantive - those just looked great. I was chomping at the bit to see the Tantive when those first production shots surfaced, and I like the idea that it wasn't the exact same ship.

On a more practical level, yeah I can see it as an oversite too. I get the feeling certain parts of the movie were rushed, probably just like on any production. Maybe they just didn't have the time to devote to full research for the designs, and were falling behind schedule for whatever reason.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: ROTS Recent Purchases

Same here, and its the first I've heard of #41-44 at Wal-mart. I counted 5 #41s, and I bought 2 yesterday. There were other local Wal-marts that had put out this case too.

Do we have any other pictures of these figures?:

These things keep coming one after the other. What will this assortment look like?  (With Ask Ack (?) I suppose).

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: So how many times have you seen it?
« on: May 23, 2005, 06:31 PM »
3 times and then some.

1st - midnight showing with some local collectors
2nd - Saturday morning with my wife
3rd and then some - on DVD (!)

A crappy time code copy is not going to stop me from going to the theater again though, and on top of that, we just found out a digital projection/Lucasfilm projector theater is an hour away!

Good topic, I hope it keeps getting updated.

Why was Padme still pregnant looking in her casket?

I thought it was an effort to hide the children, so that the emperor would receive conflicting reports about whether she gave birth or not.  So according to witnesses, and probably officially, she died before giving birth.

How does Leia remember her "real mother" when Padme died after child birth?

Yeah, that's some memory she has.

A hole, small one though,  in the story as far as I'm concerned.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm still enjoying this after the fact feeling.  I've seen it, abosrbed it (and can some more at home  :o), and will go again tomorrow morning.  I'm enjoying the fact that its still opening weekend and tons of people are lining up to see it for the first time. I like all the local hype and news reports too.

I haven't felt that decompression yet that some of you have - where you've got adjust to how you feel after a big build up.  I don't want to get the feeling that its all over. I'm enjoying it now and I hope there's not a big let down. Part this feeling has to do with the fact that I didn't have to go to work on thursday or today, friday.   :)

I'm looking forward to talking to friends about it after they see it too.

OK, just a quick rundown -

First thing I said: "I wanna see it again!"

I sat with some local collectors (actually GH contributors) down near the front, on the walking aisle that separates front seats from stadium seat. Perfect for me.

I noticed right off the look of the movie - its much more classic cinematic looking, a bit darker, deeper tones, and the lighting has just improved immensely. All the actors/actresses look better too! I was trying to pick out what was missing from the book (during the first part at least), and the movie zipped right along and included so much of the good parts of the book (not all the best dialogue, but that's expected.) Dialogue in general was MUCH smoother than Ep. 1 and 2, meaning some was great, and there were only a few groaners (The things he makes Padme say, sometimes unconscienable).

Acting - finally these people were allowed to act. As Cine pointed out above, Ian McDiarmid was just perfect. Impecable mastery of the dialogue, and he seemed to be able to take it beyond just Palpatine's gift for language. I never expected this in a Star Wars movie. Ewan did a fine a job, and Hayden did more with less dialogue. The movie as a whole seemed more "cinematic" in that respect. Many times the characters did not speak, and simply told the story by expression, or simple gesture. There were more shots of detail, for instance the clones' feet as they were preparing. Montage type shots that seemed to be missing from Ep 1 and 2.

I didn't think all the scenes had great significance, but I was never waiting for a scene to be over in this one.

I found the funeral scene well done.

The rest of the ending, of course, being a fan, that could have gone on much longer, but I was pleased with the choices he made.

Next viewing - Friday.
