Just thought I'd set up a thread for Friday's Hasbro Pulse Star Wars Livestream Event on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/events/519209718754474) at 12:00pm ET.
Patrick & Eric from the Hasbro Star Wars Team will be answering questions and sharing a few new products/pre-orders...
(...and maybe something else for which I'll need this thread :-X)
-
Looking forward to seeing the recap here. Thanks Jeff!
-
That was a pretty fair number of reveals, and almost all of them were Black Series offerings.
-Imperial Stormtrooper (Rogue One) - this left the previous Stormtrooper release looking, frankly, obsolete
-Kamino Clone Trooper (phase 2 armor)
-Carbonized Darth Vader
-40th Anniversary Collection Han Solo in Carbonite
-40th Anniversary Collection Zuckuss & 4-LOM
-Deluxe Luke Skywalker (Dagobah training) & Yoda with backpack
-Black Series prototype Boba Fett helmet
-Vintage Collection Luke Skywalker (Stormtrooper disguise)
And of course the Black Series Archive Fan's Choice Poll
-
That was a pretty fair number of reveals
I am swamped at work right now, but there are Hasbro Press Release pics coming later tonight for most of these.
On the Black Series 6" Archive Line Fan Poll:
- Yes, JediDefender is participating
- I should have the poll thread/details for our vote coming later tonight too (just too busy to get it rolling now :()
ps. I love the fact that the 6" Carbonite Block is getting a carded re-release. Love the little display stand that is included!
-
7 years later and I can finally complete the SDCC Boba Fett set! :P

Agreed! Now to re-release that vintage deco Fett!
And aren't this supposed to be up already for (pre)order on Amazon?

Thanks, Jeff. Couldn't find it anywhere...
-
Just a note - all of the Amazon exclusive stuff says "Temp out of stock" but I don't believe the pre-order links have actually gone live yet.
edit:
Hasbro has confirmed that there was indeed a delay on Amazon's side in launching the pre-orders today. I'll keep the JD referral links in each of the threads for future use though...

Like I was saying. ;)
We'll be using this thread for discussion on the fan choice poll. Feel free to use this thread to champion your favorite choice or discuss poll trends you may be seeing on other sites.
Also, some clarification. You can vote for only ONE figure per day, but you can vote each day of the poll. That gives you eight votes total if you choose, so use them wisely (all 8 votes to one figure, 4-4 split, maybe a 4-way 2 vote split - whatever floats your boat).
-
Really hard to pick just one figure for the Fan Choice Poll. From rare stuff from the pre-TFA era, to rare stuff that was just hard to find, there's a lot I'd like to see back in circulation.
Trying to pick between the following:
- Slave Leia
- Leia Boushh
- Greedo
- ROTS Obi-Wan
- Commander Cody
- Hux
- Jango Fett
- Qui-Gon
- Prototype Boba Fett
- Thrawn
-
For the poll it was a tough choice for me. Which figure would really benefit from the photo-real update the most? Or which figure was really scarce at retail and merits a re-release?
These came to mind for updated deco:
-Han Solo (A New Hope)
-Luke Skywalker (A New Hope - Farmboy)
-Luke Skywalker (Return Of The Jedi - Death Star II duel)
-Darth Vader (Return Of The Jedi - removable helmet)
-Jango Fett
-Obi-Wan Kenobi (Revenge Of The Sith) - this really needs a new head, like the Clone Commander Obi-Wan head
-Han Solo (The Force Awakens) - there were reports of a running change with the corrected hair color. I never saw that.
FIGURES THAT WERE SCARCE / MIGHT MERIT A REISSUE
-Clone Trooper (Phase I armor)
-Clone Trooper (white Phase II armor)
-501st Clone Trooper (Clones from the Order 66 4-pack have gone through the roof on the secondary market)
-Sandtrooper - black pauldron (not sure if it's worth doing since the new Stormtrooper looks amazing)
-Clone Commander Cody
-General Hux
-Clone Captain Rex
-Scarif Stormtrooper (Walmart exclusive version)
-Grand Admiral Thrawn
I wound up voting for TFA Han Solo, although after running through this list I'm not totally committed to that choice.
-
I know "Slave" Leia was asked (and I'm not bashing the choice at all)... I just wonder if that figure would ever seriously be considered again after the "outcry" when she was first release? Could Hasbro release her under a different name, like Jabba's Palace Dancer?
-
That Leia was actually a bit of a pegwarmer for quite a while. And most of that second wave of Black Series (except for Boba Fett) figures sat for a long time. The outcry about Leia didn't really happen until the figure had been out for close to a year. As for the name? I think "Jabba's Prisoner" or "Jabba's Captive" would be appropriate without some segments getting triggered.

Those names might work, Nick. And, yeah, I agree she was a pegwarmer in my neck of the woods, too. But that being said, the paint apps were always horrible on most of those figures, so I would be up for Hasbro giving her another go.
-
While I'd love for that SDCC deco to be available, I have to vote for Cassian Andor from the Target 3-pack. NOT EADU!
E...
Good idea! This is one figure that could really benefit from the improved paint apps.
-
Qi'ra from Solo - not sure the official name of the costume, but the one she was wearing meeting Lando and on the Kessel Run.

Only previously made 6" Black Series figures are eligible.
-
Thanks. I guess I should have read more carfully.
In that case. I really don't care as I'm not buying the same 6" figure I already own with slightly improved face paint.

Which is why you should vote for Hondo unless you bought that overpriced repack heavy set.

Or the SDCC vintage-deco Boba Fett since that had a small production and was hard to get.
-
I see a lot of people are voting for Hondo, but is he's even eligible due to the fact that he's a Disney Park exclusive? I doubt that Disney would want one of their currently available figures getting a wide-release to B&M, otherwise they'd lose out on sales. Can we get clarification on that? I liked like to see Hondo, too, but I'd hate to see votes wasted if he's ineligible.
-
I heard a rumor that the Black Series Galaxy's Edge multipacks might be getting changed or retired. I don't know if there's any concrete information on that yet. But considering that there are 4 or 5 figures that are unique to those packs? A number of them would be welcome reissues.
-
Just an FYI that I am cleaning up the fan vote thread and moved a bunch of non-vote posts from that thread into this one.
Additionally, I'll be going through that Fan Vote thread and deleting any posts for figures that haven't been made and are therefore not eligible for voting (Moroff, etc).

I'm holding out hope that we get revised Rogue One figures when the Cassian series on Disney+ comes along. Cassian and Jyn are among the worst pegwarmers, and figures, of the Black Series line. Ideally that Target 3 pack would have had the K-Mart Jyn and the regular release Cassian in it, then make the jacket/plainclothes Cassian from that set as the basic release Cassian.
Come to think of it, we never even got a Bodhi or a Galen Erso, or a Saw!
-
I think Saw would be a great character. Lots of bits on his costume would be cool.
-
Why are the same people making multiple posts for their choices?
???

One vote a day

Thanks everyone for voting and participating in the fan poll. I've tallied up the votes placed here in the forum and the votes submitted via email to get our site's "Top Ten" figures. I'll post the results once we get the all-clear from Hasbro.
(Spoiler alert - our list is really only a top eight. Yep, only eight figures received votes and of those eight, 90% of the votes went to just three figures - 2019 SDCC Kenner Fett, TFA Han, and SWGE Hondo.)
-
I would be fine with any of those three, honestly. I don’t have any of those yet.
-
Email and forum votes have been tallied and here is the "JediDefender Top Ten" (ok, really only a top eight) for the Black Series Archive fan poll:
1. Han Solo (The Force Awakens) - with updated hair color
2. 2019 SDCC Kenner Deco Boba Fett
3. Hondo Ohnaka (SWGE)
4. Princess Leia (Jabba's Prisoner)
tie-5. Cassian Andor (from Target 3-pack)
tie-5. Clone Commander Cody
tie-5. Luke Skywalker (Death Star II Duel)
tie-5. Princess Leia (Boushh)
A couple of interesting notes:
- The top three got almost 90% of the votes. Lots of demand for that Hondo to see release outside of a $70 box of repacks; lots of fans who missed out on 2019 SDCC Kenner Fett; and lots of fans like me who are still waiting for the Gray Hair TFA Han Solo variant we were promised in 2016. :P
- Slave Leia (Jabba's Prisoner) had a pretty good showing in the email votes. Almost like folks were willing to say they wanted to see her back on the pegs anonymously but not so willing to broadcast that publicly. Or maybe it was just a coincidence. Or maybe some weird low-effort ballot stuffing attempt on 1-2 dudes. Either way, she was the clear #4.
- There was a 4-way, one-vote-each tie for 5th place. Like seriously, it's so dead around these parts that only eight figures got votes and half of them only got ONE vote. Crazy. I guess that shows how bad the top three are wanted around here.
- Finally, in full disclosure, there was one dude who emailed that he wanted to vote for a Zuvio photo-real Archive re-release. I deleted that vote because, come on. Zuvio? I cannot be a party to that, even in jest.
-
Huh, I didn't realize we could vote once per day. Hasbro's fan polls are confusing lately. Anyway, I'd gladly buy any of those figures
-
Yay! I don’t expect TFA Han to get much traction elsewhere but if nothing else it may remind Hasbro they forgot to put this back out like they said they would.

Looks like only 3 of ours made it?

I saw a number of other sites submitted Hondo as well. I wonder if his status as an exclusive that's still currently available at the Disney Parks eliminated him from consideration?
Oh, and on the Hasbro Pulse site they're now calling the ROTJ version of Leia "Princess Leia (Huttslayer)". A nice nod to the "Bloodline" novel if you checked that one out.

That's what I'm thinking. Not sure that the SDCC Boba qualified as well, or if it was voted for on other sites (I only hit 2 sites for my SW news: this and Yakface).
-
I'm not interested in any of these (https://fanvote.hasbropulse.com/star-wars-2020). I know The Archive series is really meant to re-release old figures people are still interested in, so this offshoot line isn't really for me, but it would have been nice to have done something a little more creative.

Jyn Erso was $3 Walmart clearance fodder for months and months. People really want to see a photo-real refresh of that figure? ???
I just don't understand collectors anymore. :-\

I’m calling Shenanigans on Jyn Erso being in the poll. I think some of the hardcore TVC crowd that blames the Black Series for the decline of TVC is probably behind this.
-
I'm with Nick. Some pissy 3.75 only people stuffed the ballots. Whatever. It's one spot.
I'm also with Dave. I'll pass on all of them in an attempt to keep my 6" collection under control
-
I’m not thrilled about any of these choices.
That said the Episode Three Obi Wan would at least compliment the Episode Three Anakin that there released already in the the Archive line.

Fantastic thing is the dildos championing doing that **** don’t realize if/when a TVC pole is done then guess who are gonna mass to screw that up. Way to go! Really shower Hasbro by screwing with other collectors...... I guess.🤷♂️

The good thing is that Archive figure stock seems to be managed well and doesn’t interfere with the regular 6” stuff. In fact, I can’t remember the last time I saw an Archive figure in a Target. Probably been six months.
I know some of these figures are going for crazy money on eBay, so getting them back in to the market is good. Cody is going for $70 loose and $150 packaged.
Archive seems to be aimed at the general population and the handful of us that missed the first issue of figures. I’m fine with that. I just wish the “fan poll” was geared more toward collector fans like us that are looking for something new, and not towards a reissue that we generally already have.
-
I don’t care about any of these and don’t even feel like voting now. They really know how to suck the fun out of everything. :(
-
Looking at the candidates, I get the feeling that some of these might be on the way in the Archive line with or without the poll. Commander Cody is such a good example. Some basic market research on Hasbro's part will see the secondary market prices - so clearly there's a demand for the figure. The same goes for the 501st Clone Trooper. These are no brainers! Even getting R2-D2 or the Tusken Raider back in circulation is a pretty safe bet for the Archive line.
-
Jyn Erso was $3 Walmart clearance fodder for months and months.
I can still find Jyn figures (and Cassian) at every single Walgreens in my city for $19.99!
If there are really Jyn stans out there, I'll happily clear the Walgreens shelves and send the figures to them.
-
I have evidence of the existence of black holes as my local Target has a Cassian Andor 6" figure that seems to have drifted in clearance down to the point where he is now $19 again.
Science!!

So the Pulse site is "inactive" at the moment with a cryptic message that "Some Secrets Must Be Kept Silent. We’ll Be Back Soon!" with an image of Snake Eyes and Timber on it. Updating it with cool product? I guess we'll see.

Anyone know anything about the Hasbro Pulse remodel or whatever?

Where did you see that? Looks the same to me this morning but maybe I missed it...

It looked like it was back to its normal self by yesterday afternoon. Not sure what the big hubbub about the secret was... I didn't notice anything new (Star Wars-wise).

Beskar Mando wave is up for order!

It sounds like the site was down for a bit for some server maintenance and laying out the code for today's (and future upcoming non-Star Wars) pre-orders.
