The Bullpen / Marvel Legends
« on: March 11, 2008, 01:51 PM »
It sure seems to have been a lull lately in all things Marvel.  I think the last time I bought a Legends figure was before Christmas (the F4/Spidey/HML 3 waves), and I haven't heard anything of HML 4 showing up anytime soon.  It might be due to Hasbro taking over the license, the character selection dwindling, or just so many lines out there these days - but it is starting to seem like DCUC is taking that area's thunder a little bit.  I mean, Marvel had its time with the 15 mostly great waves from Toy Biz alone, so I can understand any shift in attention there might be.  Plus, Hasbro does seem to have plenty on their plate these days with Star Wars, Indy, Iron Man/Hulk movies, Transformers, Joe (not to mention movies for Joe and TF again next year).

I grew up more of a Marvel fan, although I've always enjoyed both universes, but I have to admit I'm a little more excited for the DCUC line lately.  Of course, I think a lot of that may be because I already have my "ultimate" Spidey, Cap, F4, X-Men, etc. and we're still looking forward to pretty much all of the "big guns" from DC, outside of Batman and Superman.  I'm curious to see what the Legends line holds for this year beyond HML and the Hulk waves, like what we'll see in the 2-packs.  Is anyone else's interest dwindling a bit?  I'm sure once the new stuff starts hitting, things will change, because I am looking forward to long-requested figures like Black Bolt and Tigra.  Anyways, random thoughts, just noticing a quiet down on the Marvel Legends side of things lately.

I think you're actually being modest about the legends line - it has been nothing short of dead the last year from what I have seen.  Two waves over the course of a year?  YAWN.  I hit a good variety of stores and I never see a changeup of these figs.  They have to be some of the slowest moving product in the aisle.  Although to be fair, I'm not really seeing a lot of sell thru on the new DC line either...

Weren't those essentially heads that you pulled out the eye attached to a string an it farted or burped?

Justin, Ryan and I usually meet at 4 Seasons Mall, but I'm sure we can swing...that way. Still haven't heard anything from anyone else about this though...

I will not be venturing home before the meeting. I am just going to go straight

I am sure the checkout lady thought I was some sort of perv.

I work Saturday at 8AM and am willing to raid the back room stuff for those who want to stop by.

Reasons why I chose the Billy system...The Billy is taller by about 15"... The Billy is wider...Things like the Hasbro Pop-Up Cantina fit nicely on a Billy...With Billy's wood sides, I can expand...Billy has many features...Many more options for laying out...It looks more seemless with Billy since they can interlock...believe me, a lot of care and research went into setting up my room...In the end, Billy was just the right height and width I was seeking...I wanted to keep out dust and toddlers... ;)

The Legacy Collection / Re: 2008 Evolutions Sets
« on: March 9, 2008, 12:40 AM »
I have two Fett Legacy Evo sets and noticed a running change on the package.  My earlier one has a sticker under Fett designating that he is from Empire Strikes Back.  The later one I have just has ESB printed instead of the sticker.   ???

Kashyyyk Troops at HTS.com

Limit 1 per order, break up the figs you want into as many orders as the number of Kashyyyk's you want, use disc10 code.

Thanks for the tip.  He's still there along with the rest of the 08 wave 1 figs.  I couldn't pull the trigger at over $9 per fig though.   :-\

Why do they list an actor's name on the credits for an episode the actor didn't appear in? They did that a few times for Fisher Stevens when we never saw him until we were on the boat.

Contracts and money, and a lot of time it has nothing to do with the actors ego either. It's sometimes cheeper for the studio to give actors a better credit, has to do with their "appearing" status (regular, re-occurring, guest star, etc...)

Also think that its easier to just create a line of credits and use that multiple times, rather than altering them for whomever may have appeared in the show.  Certainly if a guest actor appears, they should be named, but I wouldn't want to have to track each character for an appearance and then change the list each time.

Well, I was lucky enough to avoid any damaged packages today...because I couldn't even get my boxes shipped out!  Bad enough the Post is only open like 3.5 hours on saturday.  I stopped in to ship some boxes, waited in line a good 15 minutes, had the guy weigh my stuff and should have been all set to go.  Then he tells me the credit card machine is down...ARGH.  No cash and no checks on me, but I could have hit the stupid ATM in the 15 minutes I sat around waiting.  How about posting a sign or something you idoits?  Four other people in line turned around and walked away as well - at least he saved them a few minutes.   ::)

For the record I doubt we'd gripe if you include some random other toy finds WITH your STar Wars scores.

Amen.  ;)

Agreed.  Rogers has had every advantage imaginable thus far.  Plenty of time to learn before being throw to the wolves, and one of the all-time great QB's to learn from.

If he's going to succeed, we'll probably know in the first year or two.

Pretty fitting that your avatar is from "No country for old men."   ;)  I will definitely miss Favre's enthusiasm and wild play.   :-\

My Santa may have completely blown me off, but a certain Canadian Leprechaun didn't. :P

Jesse, in an offer of his supreme generosity, sent me a Lego Super Battle Droid and two of those Hot Toys Chubbies sets (there is a dirty joke in there somewhere... :-X ) Jesse is truly an asset to this community. Thanks a lot!

That blows, but major kudos to Jesse for helping out and for running this shindig.

Anyone up for a Christmas in July exchange ?

I might be up for that... ;D
