Title: freeloading
Post by: Joe on May 6, 2006, 03:09 PM
here's the story : my laptop has a built in wireless card so I can go any where in my house with my laptop and go online since I have a wireless router....once a week I go over my grandma's' house..and I tried to go online for once...AND IT WORKED!..thing is..she has no sort of internet hookup..so that means that I'm freeloading off someones wireless network..even though the connection strengh is "very low"...I'm still here and posting...

I just found this funny.

Is your grandmother near a Starbucks or some other wifi hotspot?  If so, you're not a thief.

My new laptop also has a built in card.  It was interesting to me how many wireless internet set-ups are near mine...my laptop picked up 5 different wireless internet set-ups!

yup..no wifi hotspot.... ..I consider it "borrowing" , lol....  ...just never do know who has a wireless router and dosen't have a firewall..or a password..neat thing..I have their I address from this..so if I wanted I could do a simple port scan of the IP address to see what port are open, telnet into their computer and reformat their hard drive(s)..of course that could mess up the connection I have now..so I won't....

Did you just threaten an administrator and a staff member? I feel so sorry for you.

o.k...lets just leave this behind us, shall we?....lets let this topic fade in to page 50 of "wato's Junk Yard", I don't want this to become some little "war".

EDIT  p.s., Brad I just checked out your art site....if you made all those you're a pretty good artist.

If I'm not mistaken, I think he used the blood of people who "freeload" off of someone else's wireless connection.

If you use Internet Explorer, and rest the mouse on a particular thumbnail, it will tell you the title of the piece, and what media it is... If you use Firefox, right click the thumbnail and it will read the properties.

"Fans of My Morning Jacket Album Artwork, Digital and Inks", for example.

I do the freeloading thing with my PSP all the time. And last week I was at my aunt's house setting up her laptop and it did the same thing. I think the world just needs one big wireless network...

ah...but the wireless network better be "stationed" around me...if not I'd most likley get really crrappy connection   .. and we can't have that can we ?   ;)
